Lizzzombie · 17/05/2007 17:34

Oh - Shimmer, btw, I have stretched Nigellas' recipie. If it makes 12, but you end up cutting the tops off, I put smaller blobs in and got 20 instead! With smaller tops to cut off or ice over. Easy. Its like having more cake! [fat pig emotion]

Lizzzombie · 17/05/2007 17:36

RGee- whats CTF? & what you having done to your hair? A blue rinse or just a shampoo and set?

theUrbanDryad · 17/05/2007 17:56

i think CTF is Child Trust Fund. we haven't done ours either poor little dude.

Lizzz - just opened my package and PMSL!!! dh is bemused.

Wilks - good to hear from you, i was going to call you tonight if you hadn't posted. mind you, you went all quiet after we spoke on the phone

Zac grabbed a handful of coleslaw this afternoon! it was halfway to his mouth before dh could wipe it off his hands with a napkin! this boy is never going to make it to 6 months before having solids!

ellieandhattie · 17/05/2007 18:06

school went really well thanks she stoped crying before I left and was fine till 11.30 then started asking for me (home time is 12)and although she got a bit tearful she wasnt hysterical. Also they changed the routine a bit as they had a guest in to show them some baby chicks and she coped well with the change (this child is ocd with routines!) although she missed the singing bit. We went to theparty after school and she was the best behaved she had ever been although that may be cause she was the oldest and couldboss the little ones around

Shimmer I remember those 'is it only x time' days from when had Ellie have to admit its easier this time as Ellie does occupy Hattie. Well Hattie sits in her bouncy chair watching whilst Ellie runs around and that seems to keep both of them happy (well till Ellie hit hers/trips over her etc etc)

Had Hattie weighed this morning she is 14lb 8oz and 19 weeks tomorrow (where has that time gone)

Elleis trust fund in a cash based investment in Brittania and Hatties is in 'bounty' stakeholder because they did it over the phone and it was easy. Also we have savings accounts with them at Bradford & Bingley they each have their own and we pay into that monthly and we'll decide when they can have it

2Happy · 17/05/2007 18:55

PMSL - went to wake ds1 up (he'd actually been sleeping TOO LONG )...before he opened his eyes he mumbled..."lots of towels"!! Now what in the hell was he dreaming about?! Towels?!

Good luck with the non-dairy-non-gluten cake!

Well done wilkie on the sales. Can't bear to part with my wedding dress, but no idea why since I will plainly never wear it again (even if I got married again I'd never be able to fit it!)

E&H - glad pre-school is settling down now

Lizzz - I don't know...will she ever find out you sold it

Wilkie · 17/05/2007 18:57

Lizz - intrigued as to what you sent UD?? Please tell all...

Lizz - phone was a Samsung D500 with all the bits. If you need any helps 'upping' you bids just give me a shout (not that I condone that kind of behaviour on eBay)

Lizz - Bridesmaid dress - I sold mine and kept the money. My sis then did the same with the one I bought her for my wedding. Don't see it being an issue - I just wouldn't shout about doing it to your friend. She'll never ask for it back and if she does, you could say you gave it to the charity shop!!

CTF - Child Trust Fund. The HSBC one is a medium risk one I think (not really that bothered TBH). The government money is sat in there and that is it.

Talking of government - I HATE that slimeball Gordon Brown and am SO cheesed off that he gets to be primeminister without any contest

UD - it was lovely talking to you the other day. You sounded more posh than expected. I assume you got no where with the GMTV BF thing????

EAH - the photos are fabulous (she very kindly made my 'photo shoot' photos of J b&w and printed them out and sent to me). I, and DH, absolutely LOVE them. And the chocolate is 'in ma belly'

DH is holding up all of my bags from the freezer with my frozen cubes of puree and laughing at me, pointing and mouthing 'You're a mum. You're a mum...' through the glass door separating the kitchen from the lounge. He is REALLY irritating me at the moment - no major reason just winding me up. Think it could be hormonal

OP posts:
Wilkie · 17/05/2007 18:59

Lizz - BTW, Mothercare CTF give you £20 Mothercare vouchers when you open it so TBH, I would have gone with that option if I had known before we opened the HSBC one...

OP posts:
ellieandhattie · 17/05/2007 19:37

lizz sell the dress and keep the money, I offered my bridesmaids the chance to do this they couldnt be arsed so gave me the dresses back and I sold them and gave te money back to my mum and dad minus ebay fees (they paid for the whole wedding so felt 'right' thing to do)

Wilkie - upping bids on ebay mmmm I'd never do that (especially on a samsung phone being sold by someone in lincoln????) Glad you like the photos, that software sort of fell in the bag when we bought laptop (we bougt it from my brothers old store and had a few freebies!)if you want any more copies let me know. I sympathise with the irritating DH mine annoys me most days with stupid things like leaving empty containers/bottles in teh fridge etc

2happy - towels nope cant think of any links

UD - Hows plans going for BF picnic?

Sorry cant remember who else has posted

Wilkie · 17/05/2007 19:47

EAH - don't know what you mean about eBay

Do you still have the software? Is there any chance you could post me it so I can upload it and then send it back to you?!?!?!?

Technica Q - DVDs are not streaming properly on my laptop. Any ideas why???? Trying to edit my wedding DVD (again) but the images keep jamming whilst the audio continues....???

Last set of jabs went ok today, only a few tears. LO now safely in bed and asleep. DH out playing footie and me dying for sleeeeeep zzzzzzz

Needed a filling at the dentist yesterday but didn't hurt. Managed a bit of primark shopping on the way there

EAH - buses can be sooo annoying can't they. I have to fold the pram up every time I want to go anywhere which can be a pain but there is usually someone willing to help out for a minute. However, when I wanted someone to help on Tuesday they didn't. I was getting off a train and thought all was well until the pram ended up vertical with the front wheels stuck between the train and the platform. Luckily LO didn;t fall out!!!!! The guard type person just said 'you aren't be the first and you won't be the last'. He could have warned me......

Wilkie - you are organised thinking of a highchair. And selling your wedding dress. Mine is in a box collecting dust under the bed. Meeting up would be cool, am sure Rgee will come too. Mail me kateleese at aol dot com and hopefully we can sort something out for june.

Rgee - lo not taken any formula yet. Only had more tantrums. Bought some spoons and the next size teat today to try and help. Have also got a doidy cup that I might try. Pippa may yet provide for you if her premium bonds luck continues.

CTF - You've all got me thinking I should have an isa rather than invest in the ctf now.....

Lizz - like the idea of DJ Lizzinio!

I so wish katie had been fired from apprentice last night. Was also annoyed i forgot to tape grand designs.

hmmmm noises from the monitor suggest lo is not asleep.

Dragonhart · 17/05/2007 20:30

Well, starting to feel better now. THis cold really knocked me out, have not had such a bad one for years and not being able to take anything for it did not help!

Mrs Carrot and Jodie- thanks for the info on Ginger oil. Will get some form one of the sites that deliver as it will save me the treak into town.

Lizz, Ruth has really bad cradle cap and I have found nothing that works yet. Tried all cradle cap shampoos I can find and they all seem to be really drying which just makes the problem worse. Tried boots cradlecap cream and it seems to help a bit. Tried all sorts of oils and they all gave her really bad spots/rash around her hairline. I think I might start a thread about it as she cut her head three times today scratching it (even though I have cut her nails as short as I possibly can without cutting the end of her finger off!!). Sell the dress. Buy something gorgeous for lo with the money then you can tell her.

Wilkie, I had this chair that the people from work bought me. I have found it really good as it can be used now but has lasted my enormous son until now when Ruth has ousted him form it! You can use it with the tray, but we started to use it without the tray, so that he was sat at the table with us. It has been good but if space is an issue then dont get it and also, I am not sure I would have spent that much money on it if I had been buying it myself. Mind you, after a quick wipe down it looks as good as new so it will last all our children.

Trixy - at being broken into! Hope you are ok now. That is the sort of thing that my DH would do, look around with his eyes closed but I suppose it is good he did really as he wouldnt have wanted to come face to face with them!

Laughalot - Congrats at the sleep through. Hope tonight is as good!

Canmummy Ruth is really sensative to what I eat. It never bothered Luke but anything like curries, any spicy food, take aways, the type of fruit that makes you go to the loo eg. prunes, dried apricots and things like grapes and onions all give her tummy ache or make her really sick the next day. I do miss curries though. When I stop feeding her I am going to have a big curry night out!

Rgee- Congrats on the premium bonds!

2happy - the idea of a mouse in my bedroom would make me do the same. When I was little I had a dream about a rat eating my toes and I have never been able tohave my feet out of the covers/duvet even when it is baking! And PMSL at your grandad on his scooter. My friend got knocke dover by one in a shopping center once and the old lady told her off for getting in her way!!!! My friend watched as she weaved her way off down the shopping center as people dodged out of her way.

EAH Glad all went well at preschool and the party.

Sorry if I have forgoten anyone. My mind is full of snot!

Dragonhart · 17/05/2007 20:31

Vino- Finger crossed for a good night after jabs xxx

Dragonhart · 17/05/2007 20:45

OMG has anyone seem the skoda advert with the car made of cake!? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! I want one!

Lizzzombie · 17/05/2007 21:21

Skoda ad on now!

Lizzzombie · 17/05/2007 21:25

...do you think they ate it afterwards?! That has to be my favourite ad EVER!

Ok, my ebay page is: HERE

If anyone fancies putting a pretend bid on the lulu guinness purse please do. I think the shoes and the dress will sell by themselves though!

Re. CTF - Now that I know what that stands for! I put DJ's in Nationwide. Apparently if you add £10 a month, then by the time he gets to 18 thats nearly £2k. Hadn't thought about him wasting it on something, coz he will of course be a well brought up young man who will buy his mother a nice present with it!

Lizzzombie · 17/05/2007 21:27

UD - have made some boob cup cakes, with jelly tit nips. Not sure if they will last till saturday!

Lizzzombie · 17/05/2007 21:27

doh...jelly TOT nips.

vinorouge · 18/05/2007 07:12

Lizz - love the idea of boob cup cakes! What will you think of next???

Awake and can't get back to sleep despite lo still being sparked out. I should really be washing up.....

UD - I hope tomorrow goes well for you.

Yoghurt lids - was all that chat cos of the advert where someone licks a lid?? Saw the ad the other night and wondered if that was why....

EAH - how is your healthy diet going?

I am off to Manchester today to stay with a friend and her 51 week old twins - 1st birthday party next Friday!

2happy - we once had mice in a ground floor flat we rented and I felt smug and safe that no mice had got into our bedroom until we moved out and there were tons of droppings under the bed. I felt sick.

vinorouge · 18/05/2007 07:28

canmummy - was it you making the wheat dairy free carrot cake? Give us your verdict!

Dragon - last night was fine after jabs. We'd been swimming afterwards and that always tired lo out.

canmummy · 18/05/2007 08:42

Morning everyone

Well lo must have got the message and slept til 5.30 this am yay! Saying that I went out for tea last night with some girls from work so I'm still shattered this morning. Pmsl at dh who was left to put the kids to bed - he let lo have a kickabout with no nappy on on the bathroom floor and she did a poo.... a breastfed baby poo...... and she managed to get it to hit the door...... 3 times!! Must check his cleaning up skills before too long

vino - no it wasn't me making the dairy free carrot cake - I do occasionally bake but then nobody eats it so don't tend to bother now

DH - hope your feeling better today. Think I might watch what spicy food I eat as it affected dd1 as well - I tended to avoid it for dd2 as I didn't want a colicky baby and a toddler

Lizz - I would sell the dress as I've got 2 in the loft that will never see the light of day again, what a waste. When my girls were bridesmaids I let them use theirs for playing in afterwards and they completely destroyed them but at least they had fun!

Will finish later I'm going to be late for school

RGee · 18/05/2007 08:49

Morning all!

Hi Vino! Have you done the washing up yet? What about putting in a new load of washing too - the sun is shining for once in north Leeds. Have fun in Manchester, running around after three lo's!
Boo to the filing but hurrah for primarni shopping! Would love to come with you and meet up with Wilkie. Maybe LaL could come over from Notts too (just to raise the subject of a MN meet up again)

Lizz - pmsl at jelly tits. For boob cup cakes. Sounds so much better. You got a photo of those?

Dragon - glad you're feeling much better. When you have bad cold you don't get much sympathy do you 'it's only a cold' etc but if you were a man you'd have the flu!

Re CTF, we put ours into the Yorkshire Building Society stakeholder (lower risk shares). We got twenty quid Argos vouchers for opening it, which we didn't realise when choosing. We're adding a bit each month to it as it's tax efficient saving, but also a bit each month to a separate cash account.
If you want to stick the CTF into a cash account, I'd go for Britaniia BS or Yorkshire BS as they are paying the best interest rates at the moment.
If you want to stick it into the Stakeholder fund (a supposed less risky share option) or the shares fund (higher risk but potential higher gains - remember the value of your investment can go down as well as up - blah blah), then it's much of a muchness at this stage. Hard to tell who's good cos they're so new. So you may want to go for a well established copmany like Children's Mutual (an ethical investor I think), or a high street player like Abbey or Nationwide. It may also be worth you opening one that gives you vouchers like Wilkie suggested. Just make sure the charges aren't high if you open a shares one.
What I would say is you're better off investing it asap as you're losing interest. If you forget, the Government automatically invests it for you after a year. So it's invested but you don't get a choice iyswim.
Ok, I'm not a financial advisor so you can take this with a pinch of salt, but am interested in that sort of stuff (dullard economics graduate)!

God, after that lecture, don't know about you lot but I fancy a cup of tea!

ellieandhattie · 18/05/2007 08:55

morning

vin - healthy eating was going really well until last night wen I put dinner on asked DH to keep an eye on it whilst I did quick bit of ironing/tidying and he forgot so ended up with pie and chips from chippy back on track today had wholemeal toast and boiled egg for breakfast

Saw the skoda advert last night mmmmmmmmnn. So far this morning I have done loads cleaned/hoovered up stairs, ironed all the nursery bedding/curtains that I washed yesterday as they have gone in local paper 'for sale' bit, ellie playing with her toy kitchen and hattie sparko on the sofa so think I'll quickly clean kitchen and catch up on some filing

ellieandhattie · 18/05/2007 08:58

at the chance that you can all meet up

RGee · 18/05/2007 09:04

EAH - pah to healthy eating. Tesco's delivery last night brought us a few "extras" - 3 bags of french fries!! Poor family missing out on them and their 4 bags of prawns....

theUrbanDryad · 18/05/2007 09:29

morning all - crappy night here. dude went to bed at half 6, then woke at half 8, half 10, half 1, half 3 and then 6, when dh brought him into bed with us. dh then expected praise for getting up to him. errrrm, i did actually mean that you should get up with him, like, take him downstairs so i can get some sleep, instead of having small baby grabbing my hair and kicking my back. dh is really irritating me atm too...

bf-ing picnic is inducing major panic. i'm not prepared! have so much to do, and so little time!! am off to get Z weighed this morning, then have a list of jobs as long as my arm!!
