I don't want to sound ungrateful cos I absolutely love my little man. I just get so fed up of being the only one with him, entertaining him constantly cos he is at that age where he isn't happy to lay under his playgym for long and wants singing to playing with, walking around etc but can't sit up and play with toys himself.

God, I am being such a whinge bag. Trixy/Carrott - not sure about a creche at this age, I am prob my own worst enemy cos there are only certain people I would leave him with at this age.

ellieandhattie · 18/05/2007 19:18

(hugs) wilkie I know how you feel especially the dh long/unsocial hours as mine does these too! The creche is a great idea even if you go for a swim or something it'll give you a break or alternatively is their a nursery near you who'll do a morning/afternoon session once a week (depends on cost I suppose) or maybe a child minder on a ad hoc basis.

UD - Well done what a productive day

Trixy - that it ends up costing you money and I have loads of tips for being organised it is the only way I don't go insane with having two kids 2 and under (Eg I keep one set of cleaning stuff upstairs so if I am up there and have 5 mins I can quickly polish a few bits/I try and do the ironing the day its dry and then theres never a pile/I have set days for changing beds/cot so I only have to deal with one set of bedding in the wash at a time/meal planning each week not over specific but basics like what meat we are having/I get mine and the dd's clothes out in teh evening so less chaos in the morning/when something is near running out or I start the last bottle of something it goes on my list/I get all teh veg done for dinner in the morning as Hattie has a nap and Ellie more agreeable in teh morning/every day without fail we go out somewhere even if its pissing down we'll go and splash puddles as Ellie gets cabin fever and lastly I am slightly OCD re cleaning so most days I tend to polish main furniture like dining table/tv etc and I clean my kitchen worktops daily and bathroom daily)

Lizz - well done on the cleaning hope you enjoyed your flapjack, we did fairy cakes this morning

UD - Good luck for tomorrow fingers crossed it all goes well

MrsCarrot - well biscuitcarrot cake sounds interesting

LAL - sorry didnt reply to text been a bit manic here today as ellie was evil overtired child from 3pm!! Glad you have had a good day and no motive behind the cookies and when I win the lottery and own a mansion you can all come and stay, otheriwse looks like we'll all be booking a weekend away next year as a Jan 07 meet up!!

cant remember who else posted but pcf/wilkie/ud hope you ahve better nights

ellieandhattie · 18/05/2007 19:31

pcf - eddas my bf!!

laughalot · 18/05/2007 21:33

Hi wilks sorry to hear that you are feeling a bit down I get like this as I dont drive and my parents dont live local so at times I feel like it is just me and the kids who I love dearly but get so stressed somedays because im so bored. I am looking forward to going back to work even though its only 2 days it makes a big difference just to have some time on your own. Why dont you try a playschool I dont really go now but that is where I met alot of people when aidan was first born. It will get easier but when he is on the move you wont have a minute as you tv switch will be on and off . Hope you feel better soon xx

MrsCarrot · 18/05/2007 21:38

hmm, probably wouldn't actually leave mine in a creche either at this age, but some people are happy to. Like EAH says, maybe a couple of nursery sessions a week? Then you'd get to know the people. It is tough. When dd was a baby Jon only came home on wednesday nights during the week as he worked in London. In fact, it's only been two years that he's worked in the same city since we've been together (11years) so I know how you feel

theUrbanDryad · 19/05/2007 07:56

morning all - well dh and i have already had a row. Z got us both up at half 5, then dh went downstairs for half an hour while i stayed upstairs - awake - with awake Zac. i don't see why dh couldn't've taken Z downstairs with him if he was getting up anyway, then i could have had an extra hour's sleep!

anyway, we're off to London (i can only ever hear it the way they say it in Hot Fuzz!) - - will let you all know how it goes!

ellieandhattie · 19/05/2007 08:27

good luck ud!!!!

laughalot · 19/05/2007 08:44

Yep I second that have a good day ud and enjoy meeting up with the girls, reports later please ladies.

Eah how are you and the girls we are fine in the lotta household another night of her sleeping through yipee we are making fairy cakes in a bit to celebrate.

Wilkie how do you feel today any better ? xxx

Well my dh is at work until 12 30 then I guess he will want to watch the bloody football later .

Wilkie · 19/05/2007 08:59

Good luck UD!!!!!!!!!!!!

LL - feeling bit better today thanks, sorry for my 'feeling sorry for myself' post yesterday.

Well, on EAHs recommendation I gave J Heinz creamy porridge for brekkie and he absolutely wolfed the lot down!!! I also spoke to the HV about Petit Filous and she said they are fine to give.

Had a good night last night (makes all the difference), from 6.30pm (dreamfeed around 9.30ish)-4.20am then back down until 7am.

BTW - I bought some of that Vanish Oxu Power powder today for my whites and I'm not kidding you, it gets every little stain out and makes them bright white. (Yoda voice) "Very impressed am I!"

OP posts:
Wilkie · 19/05/2007 09:01

Oh yes, and also I think what had been getting me down was the child care arrangements for when I go back to work.

DH is having J on a Monday and then Weds/Thurs my MIL was going to have him but cos she lives 40 mins away, she was going to have him overnight. I just cannot be away from my little man for that long (every so often would be OK and give us a night to do something but not every week).

So DH and I have talked about it and I am going to ask work if I can work Mon/Tues/Thurs instead which means MIL has a day off in between and there is no reason for J to stop overnight.

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 19/05/2007 09:15

Good luck today, UD!! Wish I could be there but will be in spirit.

Glad you're feeling a bit better, Wilkie, that would bother me about the overnight thing too. Now, is J getting any petit filous or are you doing the 'one for you, one for me' thing? At least I know you're not licking the tops.

Think it's going to be a lovely day today, the sky is bright blue

laughalot · 19/05/2007 09:37

I must admit wilks my mil had aidan for us and because I worked wed/thu she offered to have him overnight I was really upset at first but we got used to it and quiet enjoyed it we used to make it our night and go out for a meal .

2Happy · 19/05/2007 10:06

Good luck today UD

Wilkie · 19/05/2007 13:42

Poor poor Katierocket here

Thanks for the link, Wilkie . I don't think I should ever moan about ds1 being a bad sleeper ever again (though no doubt I will...)

2Happy · 19/05/2007 20:21

Incidently, found this fascinating on KR's thread:

By Aloha on Sat 19-May-07 17:31:49
.... and remember lots of babies go particularly barmy at 16 weeks - developmental spurt time - and it can be the worst time of all, even worse than newborn. A couple of weeks from now he could be better - not brilliant probably! - but better.

...maybe explains a few things for some of us (and makes me anxious since ds2 will be 16w next friday!)

vinorouge · 19/05/2007 20:43

Hello everybody !

Ellen and I had a lovely trip to Manchester yesterday on the train. Fab to see my friend's twins and sooo sweet to see them feeding themselves, drinking out of a cup etc. I can't wait til Ellen can sit up herself. DH came to my friends after work so we had a nice meal and (quite a lot of) wine before bed at 10pm. How times change ! We were all falling asleep as we chatted.

Today I've been at a friends while the football was on - lots of tea and biccies there. Ellen so nearly rolled over again but she can't work out how to move her arm out of the way. Went to BHS and bought some 6-9 month clothes in their sale as I have hardly anything in that size. The clothes are ok sized but I bought a swimming costume and Ellen needed 12 months size!!

Day at home tomorrow. Lots of washing to do.

Laughalot - Wilkie, Rgee and I are meeting up on 4 June in Epworth. If you fancy coming too let me know kateleese at aol dot com.
EAH - we know you will be there in spirit !

Wilkie - glad you're feeling better today . I read through KR's post. Can't magine what its like for her.

Wilkie · 19/05/2007 21:23

Vino - hmmmm sales. Anyone know of any sales on ATM?? I am desperate need of 6-9 months clothes for J. When does the NEXT sale kick off?

LL - if your DH could bring you as far as my house then I can take you on to Epworth?

UD - hope the BF picnic went well. Look forward to recieving all details and seeing pics.

Well, I have just finished painting the bathroom but it needs three coats (typical)...only two more to go!!!!!!!!!!

J been reasonably good today, a bit cranky at times but I am certain that he is teething. Everything goes straight into his mouth and he is drooling everywhere. Can't see anything though.

Fingers crossed for a good night.......!

OP posts:
vinorouge · 20/05/2007 08:10

Wilkie - think the next sale is usually at the end of July as I remember buying some maternity clothes last year when I got back from my hols.

Sunny morning here so hope it means DH will get on with the fence and other outside jobs..when he gets up. LO and I downstairs and Rgee I have first load washing on line, second on the go!

UD - can't wait to hear aboout yesterday

Shimmer · 20/05/2007 09:35

Morning all. Sounds like a productive morning vino! We're lounging around in our pjs watching maury at the moment

Wilkie J sounds just like freddie at the moment too - everything goes in his mouth and he is sooooo dribbly and quite irritable at times.

I definitly think that 16wk/4 month thing has hit us now. Up until about 2 weeks ago F was feeding evry 4 hours on the dot. When we got back from HK i started feeding him every 3.5 hours and the last 3 days he's been screaming for his bottle every 3 hours! But then we did drop the dreamfeed and he's been sleeping almost 12 hours at night without feeding, so i guess it's not surprising he wants more in the day.

At this rate though I doubt he'll make it through til 6 months before we start on some more solid food.... Still not sure what the best first food to give is.... I know the baby rice is recommended, but i'd really like to give him some different tastes, rather than just lumpy milk!

So I met UD and Lizz at UD's breastfeeding picnic yesterday! I'll leave UD to tell you all about it as i couldn't stay for that long. But it was lovely to meet you guys! Did DJ get sunburnt Lizz?

Lizzzombie · 20/05/2007 11:50

Hi everyone!
Was good to meet Shimmer and UD yesterday & the other mums too. Not sure who everyone was, but the candles lady seemed nice and so did indiemummy too.
Freddie & Zach are gorgeous little cutie pies in real life too!
I am a bad mother. DJ is looking a bit pink today. But thats what you get if your baby does the biggest poo explosion in the world on parliment square, in the blazing sunshine & you have to strip him naked! Should have taken photos! That would be good to embarrass him later on in life.
I have a sun burnt head from yesterday too! Really must by a hat. Hope you all are well.
Wilks - no worries about the ebay mix up...anyone else want to buy a lulu guinness purse?! x

Wilkie · 20/05/2007 16:11

Grrrr - anyone want to buy a baby???? God he is being a little sod today. Crying and screaming, not eating and generally being mardy as your arse. He's not ill - just mardy. Nightmare! Even Ashton Kutcher didn't work In the end after a particularly loud and pleasant screaming fit I just laid him on the bed, laid next to him and stroked his head until he finally fell asleep. I then nodded off too!!!!!

He is currently squirming around with his nappy off under the play gym. New thing he has learnt today - how to reach and grab the toys hanging off it! [proud emoticon - even if he has screamed whilt doing it ]

Glad the picnic went well although I think Lizz and Shimmer have scared her off!! Hellllooooooo UD? Where are you??

My sister's BF is currently in labour. Her waters went at 1am and about an hour ago she was still only 2cm Poor thing - she is lovely so send her your good luck vibes....

Best go as J has now turned himself completely round so his naked bum is no longer on the wee towel underneath him and is an accident waiting to happen!!!!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
Wilkie · 20/05/2007 16:49

I know I am chuntering to myself as everyone appears to have gone off and got themselves a life...

Is it possibly for babies fang teeth to come through first?? J has lumps in his gums and red spots under the lumps on his gums but where the fang teeth would be at the top???????????

OP posts:
Wilkie · 20/05/2007 20:16

WHERE ARE YOU ALL??????

HELLO....HELLO....HELLO....HELLO....

HELLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..........................! [HMM]

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 20/05/2007 20:26

I had to do that this evening, Wilkie, F just wouldn't go to sleep so in the end I lay down with him on the bed too. He usually comes in during the night but starts off in his cot. Maybe it's this four month thing? Big hugs to your sisters friend, sounds a bit like my labour, hours to move on half a contraction!! Let us know how it goes

UDeee Where are you, I'm dying to know how it went? Heard a terrible statistic yesterday that less than 1% feed for six months I'm all for people doing what suits them but I thought it might be a bit evenly weighted?

Oh arse he's awake again... that's all of 25 mins then
