CONGRATULATIONS GLITTERKITTY

Birdiemum · 10/05/2007 16:00

Echo everyone's thoughts about Vio. I can't imagine the heartbreak they must be feeling.

Glad you got a good night Mammyjo! It's still working for us as well - we only use the blanket at night.

I may post a separate thread on this but am just wondering if anyone else is experiencing anything similar: Rose occasionally pukes up what looks like vast amounts of milk - sometimes just after feeding. Other feeds are fine and she just does her usual little pukes(!) but I'm wondering if I should seek medical advice re the big ones. This morning she threw up loads after her feed (breastfed) then I changed her nappy and up came another vast amount. This doesn't seem to upset her at all by the way. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Kneehighinnappies · 10/05/2007 16:06

Congratulations bumble and Glitterkitty

Bramshott · 10/05/2007 16:09

Birdie - DD1 used to carpet the floor in milk-vomit sometimes!! I think as long as they're still putting on weight, it's fine - it just looks loads as it's so liquid. Try measuring out 4oz of water and then spilling it (maybe outside?!?) - it looks like a scary amount.

mammyjo · 10/05/2007 16:12

Have just read the message posted by Vio, really puts sleepless nights into perspective doesnt it. Really makes you realise just how lucky you are.

Bramshott, glad you are having a better day today. You can rest assured that there are only a few very lucky people whose babies do much other than eat, sleep and yell(a lot)! Ffion will lie on her play mat for all of five minutes before she is fed up of it and yells to be picked up again!

Birdie, I am going to keep the blanket for night time too in the hope that she gets the sleep message! Just hoping it has the same effect tonight too! My ds used to puke up quite big quantities of milk when he was little too and it was never a problem for him. Might be worth mentioning it to your health visitor if she is any good or maybe the gp though just in case its a bit of reflux which is treatable. The only problem I had was that ds would throw up then expect to be fed again straight away as his tummy was empty!

Sexonknackeredlegs · 10/05/2007 16:42

Oh God, Vio's post is heartbreaking. Cannot begin to imagine what her and her family are going through. Puts everything in to perspective.

Birdie, K has thrown up a couple of times, but she is bottle fed, and I think with her it is more a case of her over-eating.

If you are concerned would mention it to the HV. And as long as she is gaining weight, then I am sure there is no need to worry - easier said than done I know, as I am stressing about K's poos!

Does anyone else find that as soon as their lo's have woken up, they are immediately hungry, even if they have had (in K's case a 3 or 4 oz bottle 2 hours ago).

It drives me mad. I don't want to feed her too regularly, as then she pukes it up - as above!

LesleyR · 10/05/2007 17:23

Hi all

Just stopped blubbing after reading Vio's post. Makes me feel very humble when I think of what they're going through.I remember crying for ages after watching a documentary about a man called Johnny with EB.It's such a cruel illness.

George is having a rare non-clingy day, being all cute and sleepy and not screaming much at all. I've actually cleaned things today Those of you who are baby wearing have my sympathy. LOL at going to the loo with baby - glad I'm not the only one.

He's 9lb11oz now and 4 weeks old today. He looks so different - more like his dad as his face gets more expressive.

Off to start chopping things for dinner while G is still snoozing.

The text from Glitterkitty -

"Just home from hospital, baby Harry arrived safely on Monday morning! Had a very quick labour but although I was fully dilated he was too big to push out (8lbs9 and I'm only 5ft) and got stuck. After failed instrumental and ventous I had emergency cs and he arrived a bit battered but so gorgeous at 7.55am. Lost 2 litres of blood and had transfusion-was a bit touch and go but all ok now. Anyway i hope everyone has had their babys safely and will be online soon! Thanks x Glitterkitty"

octo · 10/05/2007 17:57

congrats glitterkitty and bumble

runnyhabbit · 10/05/2007 17:59

Just read about Vio
I thank my lucky stars that I can cuddle my two.

AngeG · 10/05/2007 20:06

Just a quick update for you from Smole.

"They now think he has a hole in his heart. Getting used to being up the hospital now"

Sorry screaming baby so need to go.

xxx

claricebean · 10/05/2007 20:17

Smole thinking of you. My cousin had a whole in the heart at birth. I think some are small and go away themselves, but hers needed operating on. I think she had more than one op when she was small. Her parents were told all sorts of things about her not being able to lead a full on physical childhood etc etc. In reality she's always been a very sporty girl, including playing badminton for Scotland in her teens. She's now 20 and the picture of good health despite her rocky start. I hope you get some good news and are managing to enjoy Jesse in amongst all the hospital visits.

claricebean · 10/05/2007 20:23

Hi everyone else. Haven't had a chance to catch up properly yet but thinking of poor Vio.

DD2's 5th birthday tomorrow so have ben running around like a mad thing trying to get everything organised.

Ruby fine but decided last night that 3:30 to 5:30am would be a good time for her waking period. Needless to say I was not that impressed. Hoping for a better night tonight, although she has slept so much today this seems unlikely .

Hugs to you all. Off to catch up in full now.

oooggs · 10/05/2007 20:52

Eddas · 10/05/2007 21:31

was just catching up, but have to share this first

My friend sold me her lo's baby swing and brought it round today so i've just put it up and put H in it. Turned it on(not read instructions properly) and came onto the computer. H started to whinge so looked in and the poor sods nearly flying Think i turned it up a bit too fast

Right, will catch up tomorrow as he's off again and am knackered so off to bed, nightie night x

eca · 10/05/2007 21:44

Really quick post...

Really tired after a busy day. Took T to the consultant this morning and he got his tongue tie snipped. Doc said it was quite a bad one. Poor little mite. It wasn't quite as distressing as I thought it would be for him. I think I cried more He latched on and had a feed straight away and was asleep in about 20mins. It felt more comfortable feeding straight away and so I'm really hopeful about bf being painless now!!

congratulations Glitterkitty!!!

Glad to hear other babies are being sick a lot. I've been a bit worried about T. But from the sound of it it's quite normal.

Smole - thinking of you lovely xx

Right, need my bed!!!! See you all tomorrow.

EllieKthePA · 10/05/2007 21:51

so glad it sorted it for you Eca xx

eca · 10/05/2007 22:10

zazas · 10/05/2007 22:41

Congratulations to glitterkitty and bumble - are they our last April babies??

Also thinking of Vio and what she must be going through at the moment..

Also thinking of you smole and baby jesse.

Just managed to get the baby off the breast - definitely hit the want to suck non-stop stage - ouch! But all in all OK as we had a 2 hour nap together today and or once no one called and woke me up Feel good for it as I am now back on the computer working tonight - while 5 kids are asleep upstairs as is DP - although not in our bed so I am assuming he is with a child somewhere, in some bed

night

CaptainDippy · 10/05/2007 22:58

Hi all, sympathy to those struggling with breastfeeding, I have spent so much time crying about it this week, although today seems to have gone much better. I have to run upstairs and attempt to feed Danny now, it's past time, my worst problem now is getting him awake but not screaming. On Monday he screamed all day and on Wednesday he was very very snoozy, today has mostly been better.

elkiedee · 11/05/2007 00:46

Congrats to all mothers of new new babies since I last said congrats, fingers crossed for smole and family, probably goodnight for now as I can't wake myself up never mind baby, it's probably about time to collapse after the amount of real sleep I've done in the last few weeks (pre-natal insomnia, post-natal anxiety and moments when I felt really high on hormones and the really good bits of the last week.
