Right ladies this is going to be used as a tip's, questions and answers etc thread for those of us who have had our babies and can't keep up with the chat on the other thread. (my word those ladies can talk)

And of course everyone is welcome to post on here the more advice etc the better.

Bugmum, dd was the same - every time ds cried she went into total hysteria. We kept reassuring her and telling her babies cry a lot and thankfully she stopped after a few days of tandem screaming.

eca · 30/04/2007 17:50

hiya

sokl & liath - as i'm reading up on it it seems it is best to get it snipped. Don't understand why mw told me they don't anymore . Another mw is coming tomorrow, so might ask her about it. Will e-mail birdiebump too.

poor lesleyr & george hope the little mite is better soon.

bugmum - i was the same with my bladder. I wee-ed in the shower for a week to help with the stinging etc but for abour 4 days i couldn't tell if i'd wee-ed or not because i was so numb. I also had no control whatsoever and so wee-ed myself a couple of times because i didn't make it to the shower on time. Things are a bit better now.

Pesha · 30/04/2007 19:28

Hi all, thought i better come say hello again now i am officially post natal.

DS2 has now finally had a huge explosive poo after a week and its made such a huge difference already, he is like a different baby. He is currently asleep in the moses basket, not on someones lap and not with my breast in his mouth Realy hoping it lasts cos dp is back to work this week so will have to do school run on my own tomorrow morning for the first time.

Haven't had a chance to catch up on anything but hope you're all doing well with your little bundles of joy and will try and check back whenever I can, hopefully bit more often now but who knows!
DS2 is making snuffling 'shall I cry or just go back to sleep' type noises. Please let him go back to sleep!!

claricebean · 30/04/2007 20:17

Hi everyone. Well DH is back. So happy. We've had a lovely day - out for breakfast, roast for lunch, lots of pottering and just enjoying being a family (of six!).

Ruby seems to have gone back to 3 hourly rather than 4 hourly feeds in the night, but at least she just fed and went straight down last night. She's been asleep for the entire day except for feeding, so am hoping that she has some awake spells this evening otherwise it looks like tonight could be fun ....she must've heard me and has just woken up. Better go. Have read thread but no time now for personals except Lesley hope your DS is doing better now.

EllieKthePA · 30/04/2007 20:22

by the way ladies, DIPPY IS HAVING HER BABY!!!!!!!!!!
she's at the birthing centre, 5cms dilated

oooggs · 30/04/2007 20:43

Hi all - with regards to 'liver' I lost one the size of my fist, it felt like birthing a head as I stood in the shower, sorry if tmi was all checked out and was fine but very frightening.

COLIC with Jack is hell - any ideas welcomed. DH went to work at 3pm so doing bedtime routine with all three. James was a little sod and I lost it and threw his book across the room, once I had put down a bottle and had a hand free

He went to lie down on his bed and when I went in he was snoring. Feel like a bad mummy now

Erin also in cot snoring and Jack in lounge awake and semi comfortable for the minute.

Lesley hope ds is ok

1B3 - hope things improving hun xx

love to all xxx

Bugmum · 30/04/2007 21:32

Thanks very much for the reassurance, guys, and it is especially good to hear that liath's dd gave up the tandem hysteria

Good to hear Dippy is shortly to join us! xx

Katy44 · 30/04/2007 22:45

Just read message from LesleyR, hope everything is OK, glad to hear George seems a bit more like himself, surely that's a good sign. Thinking about you all xxx

EllieKthePA · 30/04/2007 22:46

hey Katy xx

hope all is well?

nuttygirl · 30/04/2007 22:46

Lesley - so sorry to hear ds is in hospital, hope he's improving and you're all home again soon.

SOKL - we've found that Erin won't take 4oz all at once, we have to give her 3oz and then about 1-2hrs later give her another 1oz if she's still hungry...damned annoying.

Ooooo good luck CD...hope to 'see' you here soon (maybe it was the labour vibes i sent earlier!!!

Ooogs - @ fist sized liver. Sorry no help with colic but we have found some infacol helps to get some of Erin's wind up.

Bugmum - I sympathise with you. I'm stuck inside cos my arse is too sore to walk very far. Also when I err...came (from a bit of fumbling with DH) it seems I also peed myself and, even worse, didn't notice til i went to the loo 2 hrs later . I'm hoping/praying/wishing/etc it's a temporary side effect of giving birth (although DH said it didn't matter if it wasn't ).

EllieKthePA · 30/04/2007 22:53

aw nutty, your dh sounds really sweet

i agree, is rather odd to say it wouldn't matter, but is still rather lovely that he's so supportive

nuttygirl · 30/04/2007 22:55

Yeah he is a sweetie...and he had to sniff my knickers again

EllieKthePA · 30/04/2007 22:57

just when you thought that joy had passed

Katy44 · 30/04/2007 23:16

Hi Ellie, ahve been talking to you on the other thread!
Will be a lot easier when we're all on the one thread again.
Everything is looking good at the moment, after last night when I didn't get any sleep at all (I woke DH up at 4.45 to give me a break) I has 3 and a half hours sleep earlier tonight, T seems to be sleeping for longer periods (like now!), think my milk has started to come in, and even if this is going to be a bad night I've already slept so will cope. He's a little angel during the day - we just need to reverse it a bit so he's awake more during the day and sleepy at night!

Katy44 · 30/04/2007 23:17

nutty - I'm impressed you have the energy for fumbles! I had on my list to ask the midwife on the first day about some funny watery discharge I had had ... then it occurred to me what that might have been so I crossed it off

EllieKthePA · 01/05/2007 00:10

DIPPY HAD AN APRIL BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"STOP THE PRESS! DIPPY BABY GIRL BORN AT 22:51! 7LB 9OZ. I GOT MY APRIL BABY! YIPPEE! "

Katy44 · 01/05/2007 00:13

CONGRATULATIONS CAPTAINDIPPY!

muminasaggytummy · 01/05/2007 09:30

Morning from snotville....

First of all - sending my love to LesleyR and George - hope he is feeling better soon - you must have had quite a fright.

Bugmum - sorry to hear re your DS getting upset when baby cries. James makes me giggle he just says rather forlornly..."Oh Mummy Robyn is crying... AGAIN"

Clarice - so pleased DH is back and you are enjoying your time together.

Well I think I hit my lowest ebb yesterday, I ended up crying inconsolably to my best friend on the phone and she was so worried she ended up driving over to check I was ok...and when the midwife came round I just cried all over her. She was so lovely and very supportive of my decision re formula feeding. It turns out that my body has just decided it cannot take any more after losing the 2 pints of blood when I haemorraghed it has been trying to recover from that and with the lack of sleep etc I now have Sinusitis, a bladder infection (OMG it's so bloody painful) and also my c section wound is infected as well. My midwife was wonderful and rang the surgery and sorted out antibiotics to treat everything - so I started on them yesterday.

I just feel better for having told her how I was feeling, also to realise that I am feeling this crappy for a reason. I went to bed last night when Phil got home at 5pm and he let me sleep till 8.30pm and then last night Robyn slept quite well and I was only up the once and she settled pretty much straight away.

Poor James and Robyn are full of snot as well as me - so we make a lovely bunch.

It is my first day on my own with both children...not being able to drive is such a PITA....at least it's a nice day so plan to go a little walk for fresh air at some point and play in the garden.

Am chuffed as so far, both James and I are up, fed and dressed. Robyn is asleep in her cot and I've managed to have a quick tidy up, sort out the bottles and strip and change our bed. Thats all the chores I plan to do for today - so going to go and spend some time with James before the little lady wakes up.

Hope everyone has a lovely day - hurray for Dippy - hope her and Emmymummy and everyone else will be joining us very soon.
x

zazas · 01/05/2007 10:02

Morning! Have one sleeping baby and one DS who is off school due to a chronic cough and it is his birthday!

Have had a quick wizz through...Bramshott those are normal feelings towards your other DD when you have new one! I was just the same - completely wrapped up with my new DS while I just wanted my DD to give us some space. But it does change and soon you will be enjoying them both equally. This time round I just find my older ones so BIG and noisey and so smelly!!!! But they are lovely

Runnyhair - looking forward to hearing your advice re the wedding outfit - we have one on the 8th June and I can't wear the dresses I bought last year for another wedding - not just because of BF but my boobs would never fit in them!

LesleyR - I hope things are going better for you - what a fright it must have been - thinking of you. Also hope 1becomes3 you and the kids are feeling better?

I had better go (sorry for not saying hi to others) - not because of the baby but DP who is ringing me constantly from the office asking questions re our clients (we have our own business). I did ask for 2 weeks off from work BUT the last 2 nights I have worked until midnight sorting out our client workload - ahhhhhhh! Completely knacked - so have asked my doula to come the next few days to do some postnatel work - I think I will just sleep...........

Sexonknackeredlegs · 01/05/2007 10:34

Morning all. Great news about Dippy!!

Lesley, hope George is improving. Have we heard any more from Smole?

MIAST, really sorry to hear you seem to be plagued with so many ailments at the moment. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in and that will help. I know it is really hard, but try not to do too much, as you will recover more quickly. x

When B was born I lost about 1 1/2 pints of blood and for weeks felt awful. I also got sinusitis, and when I phoned the GP they said we don't want to give you ab's - just try steam inhalation twice a day for 20 minutes! I was furious. I had a 3 week old baby ffs! Sorry went off on a selfish rant there, but it annoys me to this day!

Zaza's, you sound like you have got your hands full!

Nutty, Katie doesn't always take 4oz's in a go, and has to have an extra ounce an hour later just to settle her. It is a pain, but hopefully it will calm down.

We had a good night last night. K had a bottle at 11.15, then 3.00 and then up at 6.45. She is just stirring for the next feeding frenzy.

Hope everyone else is well. Thinking of you all. xx

nuttygirl · 01/05/2007 10:43

Morning...and congratulations dippy on your april girl!!!

MIAST - glad you've now got the antibiotics you need. Sounds like your mw is v helpful. Hope you get better soon.

Well I had stomach pains and dihorrea (sp?) last night cos of the bloomin lactulose. So have been back to the doc (why do I have to discuss my constipation with such a dishy doc - ok, so he's the only nice, understanding doc in the surgery!) and he's now given me senna to take instead...BUT I have to take the lactulose aswell for today and tomorrow morning so I don't get constipated. DH is taking a day of holiday & working from home for a day so I can sit on the loo for as long as I need .

Right I'm off to try and catch up on the sleep I missed out on last night.

nuttygirl · 01/05/2007 10:45

Sorry x-posted with you SOKL - I'm glad it's not just Erin that won't take the 4oz all at once. I'm hoping when she gets used to the extra amount of food she'll start to take the 4oz all at once.

Whendoobygotstuckupthechimney · 01/05/2007 11:10

Hi ALL
Lesley thinking of you.and MIABT..I too am on antibiotics[2nd lot]still feel crap .I hope you feel better soon.It is so horrid having an infected wound isn't it.I am too scared to take off the gauze to look.Health visitor out today so will look then and get swab and blood results.
Congrats DIPPY.
Hope the rest of you are ok[ish].Hard going sometimes isn't it.Milo went 3 hourly the other night and then last night was horrendous and i am knackered. He sounds very mucousy and snorty.and seems to poo LOADS.

Bugmum · 01/05/2007 12:24

Hi All,
Isn't it lovely that Dippy got her April baby?

MIAST - Wanted to say that OF COURSE you have been feeling like rubbish!!!! When I had DS1, I had an undiagnosed infection, but I didn't know I wasn't supposed to feel as crap as that, iyswim, having never had a c-section before, and it wasn't until 12 weeks in that I got the treatment & so felt better. Within 3 days, i should add.

Typing one-handed now \as feddung. or even feeding.

nutty - a fumble?????????????? Much respect

I still have the really bad wee problem, plus none of my clothes both fit & disguise the mat pads, so am feeling i'll nrver get out. I am also one of those experiencing their toddler as big and noisy etc. but on the positive side, my milk has coime in

love to all xx

mammyjo · 01/05/2007 12:42

Hello! Havent been here for ages and have briefly skimmed the thread. Many congrats to all the new mummies and a huge thanks to ellie for the emails. These have been my only means of keeping up at all these days.

We are all doing ok here and had a really good night last night. Ffion went to sleep at just before 10pm then didnt wake for a feed until 3.45am!! I know it was probably a one off as she has never done it before but I can dream! Long may it continue. She has only started to wake for two feeds overnight in the couple of nights before this so who knows?

Bramshott, I have to say I echo your feelings about your dd. I have been struggling to manage ds who is actually a very good and easy going little boy. Have been feeling extremely guilty and havent even voiced how I felt to dh so was really glad to see its not just me. I am sure things will settle down for us soon, I have found it a huge culture shock in going from one child to two though.

Last week I struggled and was teary a lot and was getting worried about PND which I had last time round. This week is better though and my mood is so much better. I suddenly just feel that I can cope and am managing to get little things done in the house as Ffion seems more content when awake when before she would be yelling.

Hope you are all doing ok. {{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}} to all that need them. Am thinking of you all just not getting much time to get on here lately (wonder why)?!
