Right ladies this is going to be used as a tip's, questions and answers etc thread for those of us who have had our babies and can't keep up with the chat on the other thread. (my word those ladies can talk)

And of course everyone is welcome to post on here the more advice etc the better.

Hope the bath went well Claricebean...I strugge to get Jame sin at the best of times let alone with a sore foot!

Lol at lop sided boobs...mine are equally sore at moment as engorged as I am not feeding off them...owie....

The little lady is still zonked out in her chair after her 4.30 feed. I really don't remember James being like this - all she does is feed and sleep! I'm not complaining - the difference in her in 2 days is so unreal - and it makes a big difference to me that I can spend time with James and get a bit of washing done etc when she is asleep.

Do you know I still haven't had an alcoholic drink since Robyn was born.....must do something about that!

Hello lopsided ladies!

Just dropping in before the next feeding frenzy.

Thanks for your thoughts re my gross post earlier. I haven't had anything since. I will call my mw tomorrow tho and just get her take on it.

Had a good day today, tho probably feel more tired today than the last few days. Went for a pub lunch with some friends which was lovely, and then B and dh went over to theirs for a few hours and I had some peace on my own to catch up with bits and bobs.

Dh has been a star today - he did a load of ironing - hope he isn't after any nooky!! NO CHANCE MATE!

Now waiting for K to wake up - could do with giving her a bath. How often are you ladies bathing your babes?

MIAST, really glad you sound so happy - long may it continue!

Hugs to all.

muminasaggytummy · 28/04/2007 20:32

Thanks SOKL - I do feel tonnes better now I have decided what I am doing. Phil bless him has just given me a cuddle and said sorry for being in the huff today. Bless him, he says he's just felt "liek I can't be arsed"....which is fair enough to be honest as he has run around after us all for 2 weeks. I just wish he would talk to me about it instead of giving me the silent treatment!

I too am waiting for the little lady to wake up after her 4.30 feed....she is just stirring I think. I have been giving Robyn a bath every other day in the morning. I used to bath James every night but he got very dry skin and a bit of Eczema so I am leaving her a bit longer. I plan to change bath time to the evening though so as to start giving her the cues that it is soon "time for bed" I want to start trying to ease her into the wind down for bed routine that we have James in as soon as I can really....I'm afraid I am a bit of a routine lover!

Hope you have a good night! I do think of everyone when I am up in the middle of the night doing feeds, it helps to know that all over the country you will all be doing it too - makes it feel less lonely in a way!
xxx

octo · 28/04/2007 20:44

ahhhh - peace and quiet .... so time to catch up!

I was a bit sweaty for the first time last night - what a delight! I find that I get quite cold int he night so have a fleece blanket next to the bed to put round my shoulders when feeding which helps.

Bleeding has kind of stopped - nothing for a day then heavier again - no watermelons here though LOL! God - it would be like giving birth all over again! Not sure if am ready for that yet although fanjo is in tip top condition for it

We have had a better day today with feeding - he def needs to feed off both sides now with a wind in the middle.

Had friends round most of the day - really nice - and a few others dropped into see Ernie too - just really chilled out - nice lunch, some sparkly and chatter. Feeling nice and relaxed ready for the night shift!

Am starting to get slightly concerned about having to get up in mornings and get boys off to school etc but have another two weeks to go before dh goes back - so no rush!! DH thinks we need a trial run ... - NOT!

Re bathing - Ernie has had 3 baths - the boys tend to have one most nights - esp when really dirty - but I'm not obsessive about it as sometimes its nice just to do face & teeth & chuck them in bed! Ernie screamed for his first bath but seems more settled now and likes me splashing water on his tummy - but I do have to hold his hand the whole time aaahhhhhhhh

The tiredness is going to kick in very soon - so off to have nose at WO thread and ask about gulping then off to bed zzzzzzzzz

eca · 28/04/2007 21:18

evening tired mummies

Just a quick post before bed. Am getting v v tired and flakey from about 6pm onwards.

We didn't give T his 1st bath until he was a week old! Then the past couple of mornings we've given him one. However, after reading what MIAST just put about James, I might ease off a bit to maybe every 2/3 days.

Our baby monitor picked up another baby crying tonight!!! Totally freaked us out! Anyone had that before.

SOKL - lol at even the thought that Dh might want a bit of bedroom action! It's going to be a while in this house I tell you! To be honest after witnessing his first baby being born I think it's the last thing on his mind at the mo!

Pesha - good

Going mad with a steady stream of visitors here. Looks like bank holiday weekend is going to be non stop for us. I'm dreading it a bit TBH. I love seeing people etc, but T seems to get really unsettled when we have a crowd here and I'm not bf infront of people and so I get a lot of time upstairs by myself. Having said that it gives me a break from people and T a chance to settle down without being fought over for cuddles.

Anyway heres to a good night ladies and happy babies that get lots of sleep and let mummy rest too!! Thinking of you all! xx

eca · 28/04/2007 21:20

Gosh I am flakey!! Started to say good to see you Pesha, realised you were on the a/n thread and forgot to delete start of sentence. I need to sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!! night xx

WestCountryLass · 28/04/2007 22:03

Octo, so sweet about Ernie holding your hand in the bath

No watermelon blood clots here. My bleeding has pretty much stopped, just hte odd occasion of what amounts to spotting every few days.

My left boob is a lot bigger than the right and is the favoured one. I had a lumpectomy on the right one years ago and have a fairly big scar so would imagine some of the milk ducts have been damaged and it is not firing on all cylinders so to speak.

liath · 29/04/2007 08:25

Gawd, why are babies so noisy when they are asleep ! It's coming back to me now why we put dd in her own room relatively early - all those snuffles & grunts.

DH did suggest some bedroom action the other day . Honestly I was a bit miffed as I was gagging for it all through pregnancy and he wouldn't come near me! Think it'll be a little while before I'm up for anything TBH. Too sore and sweaty just now.

Glad Robyn is more settled, MIAST - it's that old but true cliche - happy mummy = happy baby .

muminasaggytummy · 29/04/2007 09:00

Morning!

Another decent night last night. Fed at 11, 3.30 and then up at 7.45 so alot more civilised. Unfortunatley James was up 3 times tho...but Phil dealt with him!

Little lady is sitting windily gurgling in her chair with hiccups as I type and Phil and James have gone swimming to the local pool. It is the first time they have been and Phil has decided he wants it to be a weekly thing....hope he is not disappointed as they were going James was chanting the "I not go swimming Daddy" mantra....lol. I'm sure he will be fine once he gets there.

Think I am going tohave a shower and then take a walk to the shop to get some stamps with Robyn in her pram - stil not had her out in it!

Enjoy the sunshine and hope all had a relativley good night
x

muminasaggytummy · 29/04/2007 09:03

Hi Laith

Gosh I remember James was ike that but Robyn doesn't make a peep at all except for when she is starting to wake up and then she coos.
We ended up putting James in his own room relativley quickly because of it but as we only have 2 bedrooms we are a bit limited this time. DOn't fancy the idea of having to go into James room to settle Robyn as he would be awake every time I went in....

Right shower beckons
x

Sexonknackeredlegs · 29/04/2007 09:59

Morning all.

Liath, we are finding Katie really noisy as well, and I think when dh goes back to work, she is going to have to be in her room.

I think we only lasted with B in our room for 3 days, so K has done well!

Had a good night here too. K fed at midnight, then at 3.00 and then up at 7.00. Now snoozing quietly.

Off to my mum and dads for lunch today - really looking forward to it - my mum is a great cook!

Has anyone else found they have lost their appetite? I can feel really hungry, and then only manage a small amount to eat.

Right, better get on.

Lots of love to everyone.

1becomes3 · 29/04/2007 12:32

Honest to god I am having the worst week of my life.
DD1 is alot better today, she has even had some dry crackers to eat and is drinking by herself, if we bribe her with tiny bits of chocolate.

SS1 and 2 have come to stay for the weekend and I am quite impressed with SS2 after all the problems we had when he found out I was having DT he seem really happy with them and even held Lola

anyway we were all sitting in the garden and DD1 acidently tipped some sand in DD2's hair so we put dd2 in the bath, which is when we noticed that her right boob was red and very swollen with a hard lump in it, well I was crapping my pants didn't have a clue what it was.
I thought she had been moaning all day with wind, until I saw the lump.
So we phoned the out of hours Dr's and they told us to take her down to the hospital to have her looked at.

We had just packed all the kids into the car and DH went to start the car and nothing happened!
So he got out and gave it a push to see if he could start it like that, still nothing happened so he decied to push the car to the big hill at the end of our road to get it started going down there.
We got half way down and still nothing, so DH was going to phone the RAC but he didn't have his membership card, so he called his brother who is also a member for his details.
When he finally got through to them they said the membership had expired, so he had to beg them to come out, just as he was telling them where we were his bloody phone battery died and I had left mine at home.
He had to put DD1 who was crying in her push chair and push her up the hill to our house, while I waited with the DT's in the car.

Well the RAC finally came an hour later so we had missed our hopsital appointment, so when we got there with some tired hungry children we had to wait for 2hrs

well the good news is that Lola's lump was nothing to serious it was a milk bud that had got infected so the is on antibiotic's, She isn't sleeping very well as she is pain and I am yet again completly (excuse my language) FUCKED feel like my head is going to explode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am just wondering when this run of bad luck we are having will end or what is going to happen next.

OP posts:
EllieKthePA · 29/04/2007 12:33

i haven't been wanting to eat much either SOKL, unless you count the ice cubes i'm still crunching!

EllieKthePA · 29/04/2007 12:38

1b3

you really are having a bad time of it lately, just wish there was something we could do xx

eca · 29/04/2007 13:42

morning! (just realised it's definately afternoon as i type! oh well.

1b3 - it's mad! I can't believe it. I bet you can't! . We're here for you hon. I know we can't do a lot, but rant away.

Miast - wow what a great night!

sokl - yep. no appetite here either. Just not hungry. Making sure i try to eat something though, esp because I'm bf.

We had a lovely morning. We took T to church for the 1st time and he was beautifully peaceful all through the service and it seemed a really special time. Of course he had lots of old ladies cooing over him, but we managed to keep him in his car seat so he didn't get mauled! . And they brought us a gift for him - £50 in Early Learning vouchers! Fantastic

Hope you're all having a good day. Off to check if there's any news on a/n.

xx

Eddas · 29/04/2007 15:06

Oh 1b3, i can't believe what a bad time you're having, you poor thing As the others said, rant away and wish I could help

Having a quiet few hours whilst dh has taken dd swimming. Sure they'll be back soon

Does anyone else have a dc that does not stop talking, ever. Seriously this child starts talking when she wakes(between 6 and 7 normally, 8 if i'm luckly) and does not stop until betime(7pm). I'm not sure i can take this for nine months whilst on ml (oo suppose it's only 7 now). anyone got any tips on shutting up a mouthy 3 year old. Any suggestions welcome

muminasaggytummy · 29/04/2007 15:16

Oh no 1b3 - how much bad luck can one person have??? You poor thing. So glad that you have found out what is the matter with her though. Big Hugs to you.

SOSKL - Err in a word NO! I am eating for England as usual lol! I think my body is exhausted though - you can tell I'm no longer pregnant. This cold is lingering, my section scar this morning has started weeping (niiice), I've got greasy spotty skin and my nails are now flaking....it's as if as soon as the baby is out my body has just gone..."Bleeeeeeeeurgh thats enough of being healthy". I'm gonna get the midwife to take some blood tomorrow to re-check my iron after the mix up debacle.

Took Robyn out in her pram this morning for a walk - it was lovely - like pushing air - it was so light. Had a bit of a tidy up in the house whilst both kids asleep and Phil gone to B&Q to buy shelving to put in JAmes wardrobe. We have been bought so much stuff for Robyn that the chest of drawers I bought is full and we still have zillions of things to put away....

Eddas - no tips I'm afraid but James is much the same - and he repeats himself over and over again...drives me bonkers.

Eca - what a lovely gift!

Well going to have a brew and put my feet up in this rare moment of calm!
xxxxx

claricebean · 29/04/2007 16:49

DH home in 5 hours !!!! So happy.

MIL goes tomorrow morning. Am so glad to get back to just our family. My mum and MIL have been absolute stars, but I have had one or both of them here for 6 weeks and I am desperate for our own space again. Couldn't have managed without them though.

SOKL - I'm only just getting my appetite back now; Ruby's 2 and a half weeks old.

1b3 - so sorry about your run of bad luck. I know what that feels like. With DH's illness, DS's son and my 'jim and gemma' surgery (four times!!!) I felt like we spent the entire of March and April going to the hospital. And that's without including the actual birth. We are finally coming out the other side (fingers crossed). You will get there too, even though it probably doesn't feel like it now.

Hugs to everyone else.

claricebean · 29/04/2007 16:50

MIAST - LOL at light pram. That's what I feel like when I only have Ruby. Every time I tilt it to go up a kerb, it shoots into the air as I push down too hard

nuttygirl · 29/04/2007 18:04

1b3 - thinking about you hun, what an awful time you're having at the moment, really hope it all gets better soon.

feeling fed up here today, I'm really tired and think it's just the aneamia cos I'm getting loads of sleep. Also wishing my body would go back to normal. I really want to have sex again but am scared my fanjo will rip...I did have an orgasm this morning tho

Got the pics the other day from the photographer who came round in hospital but we're sending them back cos they're awful. They don't really look like Erin much and she's crying on them . A bit dissapointed cos she was only a day old when they were taken and they took about 5 pics so I can't believe the one they've sent was the best.

nuttygirl · 29/04/2007 18:11

re baths - we give Erin one every 2-3 days ish. However she could be having an inpromtu one in a few mins as DH has just changed her nappy and she's pooed (almost in his face) before he got the clean one on then she managed to get her feet in it before he sorted out the new nappy!!!

octo · 29/04/2007 21:40

Good evening all

1B3 - I really do feel for you honey - big hugs to you and the family xxoxoxoxoxoxox

Nutty - at the orgasm!! I think my fanjo might just pack its bags and leave if tried to do anything remotely sexual.

My boys talk from the moment they wake up til they go to bed - it is constant questions - and wouldn't be so bad but they don;t even listen to my answer.

Have put Ernie in his cot in the nursery tonight - took about an hour and two feeds to get him in but he is there and asleep! Think he may just be brought back at some point in the night

I have found that he likes being swaddled rather than grobags - so swaddled him tonight and when went in to check he had the blanket in/over his mouth - so have put him back in grobag! Think may keep swaddling for during day when can see him.

Feeding going okay - had some pains under my right armpit/on boob and - but changed feeding potsition and it has gone.

Am going to bed soon so get some zeds in before next feed. He is tending to wake twice in the night which is fine

Sexonknackeredlegs · 29/04/2007 21:43

Hi ladies

1b3, I cannot believe the crappy time you are having. Really glad they have identified the problem with Lola and that she too will be on the mend soon. Huge hugs to you petal.

CB, I expect your dh is home by now. I really hope you can all have some lovely family time now.

Eddas, I know what you mean about a chatty child. Becky is the same. As soon as she gets up to the moment she goes to sleep. I am lucky in that she is now going to be at preschool for 4 full days a week, so will get a break from it. I find it exhausting, especially all the questions!

Had a lovely day today at my parents. Roast beef and all the trimmings and strawberries and icecream. Spent the afternoon at the park and B had a great time. In fact she has been on great form all day.

Anyway, need to head to bed, as pretty tired. K seems very restless this evening so not sure what sort of night we have ahead of us.

Lots of love to everyone.

Pinions · 29/04/2007 21:45

Nothing baby related at all but I am SO chuffed with myself that I have got to share my latest news with you all.

I have been JOGGING.

Yes jogging "hurray" and going again tomorrow.

Slinking off to babyworld now.....just wanted to get that off my chest. Big love to you all with catch up properly later!

{Extremely smug emoticon}.

Pinions · 29/04/2007 21:52

AND if it makes anyone else feel any better I also had a "slug" or "small piece of liver". I think its just either a small blood clot or a tiny piece of placenta tyoe stuff. I remember this with ds1 too, in fact with ds1 if I remember correctly there were 2 or 3 "slugs" so prepare yourselves for more!

Isn't it nice to know though that that really is all thats left !!! (ie no baby and placenta waiting to be pushed out x)
