Thought it was about time we started a new thread and this seemed like a suitable time. I am now going to try to link the old one to this one.

Hiya Debi,

Thought I'd make you feel a little less lonely over here! Well, It's April!!! Who's first then? DS's is on Saturday. We're having a little family party. We've finally settled on getting him a playhouse. Just a little one because a big one would take up practically the whole garden!

Happy Birthday all April (not so much babies any more) babies!

Nip · 03/04/2007 09:59

Hello, Where the hell as this year gone!! DS is one on the 14th.
Am thinking about a small get together at home, hopefully we'll be able to sit in the garden and have a few sarnies!

The big question for us - Will DS be walking by the time he's one! He's SO close but doesnt seem to want to bother - bless!

He can get up the stairs in about a minute - so everything is locked, shut and aimed at stopping him from venturing up!

Seems to have moved off some certain foods, yet begining to enjoy other food. He particularly liked a cottage pie at the weekend and the yoghurt that i let him feed himself - which you can imagine was a very messy affair!

We are getting asked by so many people "What does DS want for his birthday?" - Which my DH always replies a Playstation 3 with Tiger Woods Golf Game!!! But seriously - i think we are going to need a bigger house to accomodate the amount of presents that are coming his way!

Loving DS growing up - its a total joy to see, but its easy to see how people become broody - the baby time goes so quickly!

WriggleJiggle · 03/04/2007 20:53

Double birthday celebrations on the 14th Nip, that's dd's birthday as well.

She is no where near walking - fine when pushing something, but no where near letting go yet. Today she said 'Daddy' rather than the usual 'da da'. DH has been beaming all day

littlepiggie · 05/04/2007 19:44

Cant believe there is an april 07 thread, there not babies anymore!

Dsd is on the 21st, going to have a small party, getting worried already.

He is all but walking not, walkes as long as at least 1 finger is on something, strange boy, will walk along walls, with just his fingers on it, as soon as he lets go he is on his bum.

He is a complete chatterbox now, what will he be like in a few months, so far we have , ta, gone, hiya, dog, no, mama, again, (sort of daddy), and ganda (grandad)

He has got up a couple of steps, so gates are always locked now. He has started to climb on things, ended up in a+e after one he tried to get on our bed, just glad he is still in a grow bag and big fat cloth nappies in the night or he would be out of his cot.

BexieID · 06/04/2007 13:57

Tom is one on the 12th. You all having parties?

WriggleJiggle · 06/04/2007 22:25

We're not having a party. We're probably just going to go out for the day and have a picnic or something.

Nip · 07/04/2007 20:42

We arent having a party, but are going to get all the family over just for a few hours. Nothing fancy - just a quiet get together and show off my DS (who incidently is getting closer and closer to walking )

WriggleJiggle · 08/04/2007 21:30

We've finally got around to inviting people to a birthday bbq, 'The Big One'.

mellow2 · 10/04/2007 08:34

Hello all,

I don't think I've posted much for the last 3 months.

I clearly can't juggle work, dd, and MN. Anyway, I finished my contract at the end of March so I'm back at home with dd now and MN.

I have to say I'm enjoying every minute of every day now. She's alway doing something new everyday.

As far as walking, she's doing really well on her push along trolley and car but can't walk on her own.

littlepiggie,
We're on the 21st too. We're not having a party but just having the grandparents round.

What toys are you getting for your dds? Dd likes blocks. I was thinking of getting her a kitchen or a role play toy. Do you think it's too early yet?

DebitheScot · 10/04/2007 10:32

Wrigglejiggle I like the name of your birthday bbq. Might just steal that for myelf!

We weren't going to do anything much for ds birthday. I'm working on the actual day (25th) and we don't have any family near. Altho my dad will be arriving in the afternoon as he's coming down for a few days while mum's at a conference in Brighton.
We might just go out for the day on the Sat (28th) as my mum and dad will be here then or we might have a bbq the wknd before and invite our adult friends and the few children we know.

DS took two steps on his own yesterday and can stand on his own for a few seconds.

DebitheScot · 10/04/2007 10:33

oops, not 'myelf'! I don't have an elf. Could be a useful pet though. Meant to say myself.

Ds started walking today, he has been standing on his own for about a week for anything upto 10 seconds, then today put him down about a meter from a chair and he walkied to it, very cute, then did just about every time i put him down anywhere, needed him to hurry up and do it, he is getting too heavy and i am already 6m pg, thats gone fast.

also realised that momo is more food/hungry, he was also trying to say got ya, had to chase him to put his nappy on, said got ya and he copied, came out 'gog ga' though.

NattyThomasandBump · 10/04/2007 21:04

my tom is also one on the 12th, we are visting relatives, and shopping in the morning.
tom is walking like a pro now, we walked around the whole imperial war museum which he loved today. (yes i know isnt he strange, i found it intensly boring, but he loved it!!)
we are taking his little friends to the cinema to see "bean" to celebrate his turning one, but other than that im not really doing anything as we are saving every penny possible at the moment to buy things for ellen (bump - yes shes already named).
speak soon guys, keep in touch let us know about all the birthday parties!

DebitheScot · 11/04/2007 10:53

The vocab here is daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy and ta.
Dh, ds and I had a conversation that went like this yesterday:
dh "say mummy"
me "mummy"
ds "daddy"
dh "no, mummy"
me "mummy"
ds "daddy"
dh "mummy"
me "mummy"
ds "daddy"
dh "mummy"
me "mummy"
ds "daddy"
me "I'm going off to sulk and cry in a corner"
ds "daddy"

feel all fat and tired! I HATE BEEN PG, will someone speed up the next 3 months please!

Ponka · 11/04/2007 21:04

3 months, is that all . Doesn't time fly.

Debithescot, I know what you mean about Daddy. Daddy is Daddy, I'm Daddy, DS1 is Daddy. Pretty much every single thing in the world is Daddy, except for Teddies, which is the only other word he can say (and that's pretty similar). Also, every animal goes "Moo" except Monkeys, Elephants and birds.

We had the most fantastic Birthday party for DS last Saturday. Just us, Grandparents and my brother, a load of balloons, a big banner, a strange fruit bouquet and a LOT of chocolate cake. DS2 had to have an impromtu bath after lunch because he decided to experiment to see if he could eat food through his ear and then smeared the cake all over his hair! He had a great time. We got him a playhouse in the end. He loves it. He just wanders in and out all the time when we play in the garden, playing peepo through the windows.

mellow2 · 13/04/2007 11:01

I just realised there aren't many other little girls in the April 07 thread.

I can't believe that some of you will have another little baby in a few more months.

That makes me broody.

BexieID · 18/04/2007 12:08

Two Toms born on the 12th. Kewl.

My parents were visiting, so we went off to get Toms photo taken for the local Bonnie Baby competition. He wasn't a happy bunny and it was so hot in the swimming pool where they were doing it. So didn't get many photos, but got them yesterday and they aren't too bad. I think he prefers mummy taking photos of him, as he always poses for me!

We took him to get his first pair of shoes in Clarks. He had another photo taken in there. Then we had a picnic, by which time he was happier and he stood up for the first time without holding onto anything! And he's been doing it ever since! We went out for a meal with both sets of grandparents, which was good.

His birthday party was Saturday. I invited 9 babies, but only 5 came. We played pass the parcel, pin the tail on Tigger and musical nappies. If we had a garden I would have had the party outside as it was so hot! Tom had loads of lovely presents, not sure where it's all gonna go!

DebitheScot · 18/04/2007 18:46

We're having a bbq on Sunday. It was meant to be a low key joint birthday bbq for me and ds but seems to have turned into a big thing with lots of people coming and I seem to have let it become a party for ds and not me and I've bought banners and balloons that all say Happy 1st Birthday. Couldn't find any for 26th birthday
There's lots more adults than kids coming but thats good I think.

Keeping fingers crossed for sunshine.

Whens your b/day Debi? Mines on the 26th and i'll be 30! If I was still living in England, I would have had a joint party with Tom.

BexieID · 19/04/2007 11:10

Just noticed on your profile that you live in Farnborough. I'm from Wokingham!

DebitheScot · 19/04/2007 13:55

That's quite weird Bexi. We've swapped places! (I'm from Dundee but lived in Edinburgh for 4 years when at uni)
Why did you move?

My birthday is 29th April, Camerons 25th.

DF lived in Scotland. We met in a chat room on Yahoo almost 8 years ago, I came up to visit and he visited me (he had a friend who was in Bracknell) and the rest is history. We saw wach other about 4 times a year, went on holidays abroad. We got engaged in November 2004. The plan was for me to move up anyway, as houses are just so expensive in the Wokingham area and DF also got a job at Dell in Glasgow. Thomas was a souvenir of our last holiday! I lost my engagement ring in the move though, so a bit gutted about that!

Enid · 20/04/2007 10:10

dd3 is 1 on the 26th

she is getting a swing

she is so nearly walking its not true

she thinks she is 16

NattyThomasandBump · 21/04/2007 22:00

okay tom isnt saying anything, should i be worried? he says mummmmmm alot, which i think is just a noise, and he says dadddd but not in a relative sense, just randomly so again i think just a noise.
should he be saying mum and dad by now, or do you think being such an early walker means his speech will be a bit behind (having spent last month perfecting walking)?
i think he says cat, but im not sure. he points alot and say "ah" to let me know what he wants.
should i be reading more books to him? is there anything i can do to encourage him?
ok crazy paranoid mother here i know, calming down i promise!

in other news baby no.2 is due in 5 weeks! eeekkk! we havent even got her a crib yet lol.

toms birthday went well, and other than that, thats it! (gosh say that fast)
