Thought it was about time we started a new thread and this seemed like a suitable time. I am now going to try to link the old one to this one.

I thought today about writing down all the words ds can say so here goes. I'm not sure if I'll remember them all though. There are some that he says lots but doesn't necessarily say properly, we know what he means but noone else probably would. And there are some that he has said a couple of times by copying us so not convinced he knows what they mean.

Says properly: mummy, daddy, bath, baby, teddy, cat, owl, flower, juice, teeth, head, eieio, hi, bye, no, tea, hot, see it, oh dear (his favourite)

Says not so clearly or not the full version of the real word: nana (banana), papa (grandpa), penguin, giraffe, apple

Animal noises and sounds: woof, baa, neigh, moo, roar, squack, ssss, chicken noise. (And he does all these when he sees the right animal). Weeeeeee, ssshhh

He's having one sleep a day, anywhere between 1 1/2 hours and over 3 hours. I don't think he'd do 2 sleeps but your dd might wrigglejiggle. I can see why you think that might make your life easier.

Nip, ds has milk at same time as your ds but he has it from cup, started giving him the morning one from cup before the bedtime one, think that made it an easier transfer.

He has been having some good tantrums recently, if you bring him in from outside he stands at the door trying to open it and screams. Thankfully though he can usually be distracted after a few minutes with something else.
He has also become very bossy, he grabs our hands and drags us to wherever he wants us to go (usually the door that we're trying to stop him going out of) or to get the toy he wants to play with. The other day I was trying to ignore him doing it, eventually gave in and he dragged me up stairs, into bathroom and started saying bath. It was pretty much bathtime and he'd had a busy day so he obviously just wanted to go to bed! That was cute.

I know exactly what you mean SMST. We've noticed the thought process thing too. He is suddenly understanding so much more of what we say and he also does things like going into the right room for htings or sitting on the stairs to put his shoes on (while saying shoes over and over) when he sees us getting ready to go out.
He likes to phone people on the Sky remote and the alarm clock too though so maybe he's not actually that intelligant!

We have the little tomee tippee cups for milk, They are one of the very few ones that don't have valves. The valve ones are so annoying, they are impossible to clean and apparantly bad for their teeth.

Oh yes. That reminds me - she loves to grunt/growl when she hears a dog bark!!!

Agree - I don't think DD3 would do 2 naps. She is just not tired enough to go to sleep in the morning (unless she is in the car). Although you might find your DD is different. DTDs used to sleep ~10:30-~12:30 - although that was still only 1 sleep.

Has anyone else found that their LOs have lost interest in toys? DD3 seems to have more fun climbing up and down setee (knew skill), trying to MN and anything else that doesn't involve her toys. She loves DTDs toys though. If she can get in their bedroom she will go and sit on the piano stoll and play hte keyboard (also cute). She has also recently found a little egg think of theres and a furby spoon and can frequently be found carrying both around feeding herself teh contents of the eggshell (also cute)

Did I mention she is being v cute ATM ?

SlightlyMadSCAREYthing · 03/09/2007 22:34

And yep...lots to use makeshift phones, anything goes, remote is popular, as is calculator.

She also likes to comb her hair given half the chance .

I have also recently been treating DTDs verrucca which has involved attacking it with a pair of tweezers. She picked them up a couple of weeks ago, sat on the floor and tried to pull a imaginary verucca off her own toes . I also noticed that she was trying to do the same with one of DTDs hair clips too...again proving she is not as intelligent..but nevertheless v cute

DebitheScot · 03/09/2007 22:39

I caught ds trying to straighten his hair with my straightners!!! Thankfully they were not on at the time. I did have a moment of panic though!

And yesterday I sat and watched him take handfulls of little stones from round the edge of our patio and carry them across the garden to his wheelbarrow. He did this about 3 or 4 times. Why didn't he just take the wheelbarrow to the stones?? Duh.

OP posts:
SlightlyMadSCAREYthing · 03/09/2007 22:47

Ok - so they are not so intelligent after all

SlightlyMadSCAREYthing · 06/09/2007 14:26

3 cute children on my profile for 20 mins only....

DebitheScot · 07/09/2007 08:45

Why were they only there for 20 mins? I missed them. Just got to look at a familiar looking hallway instead (and I only have 1 child!)

SlightlyMadSCAREYthing · 07/09/2007 13:31

Cos DP doesn't agree with me putting pics on we...so I only did it briefly while he was at work. May do it again soon when I sort through all my pics. Will give advanced warning next time

pepperrabbit · 16/09/2007 18:03

hello, hope you're all well - I have uploaded a couple of photos - don't get too excited though...

SlightlyMadSweden · 16/09/2007 19:41

Pepper - I don't think you have made them public???

pepperrabbit · 17/09/2007 19:03

Doh, I pressed the button that said "visible to any mumsnetter" and pressed save - I'm right at the frontiers of my IT ability here

DebitheScot · 04/10/2007 10:26

Grrr I wrote a big long message and then when I went to post it the computer froze. So I copied it incase it crashed. But then I had to switch the computer off and on again cos it wasn't behaving and so when I went to paste my message it had gone.

Was just commenting on how quiet it's been here and that I've been very busy with work (which is maybe why the computer decided to punish me) and then we've got a busy weekend ahead as ds is being dedicted at church on Sunday and we've got all the family coming down for it.

Has anyone else been up to anything exciting? Ds still fun most of the time but has had a few mega tantrums lately. I thought they weren't meant to do that till they were 2??

OP posts:
ScaryMonsterStories · 29/10/2007 21:39

Erm 20+ days without a post...have we officially disbanded?

If not can someone please tell me that I am not the only one rearing a tantrum posessed 18m old?!?!?!? PLEASE?

WriggleJiggle · 02/11/2007 15:22

dd tantrums several times a day - it's great !

DebitheScot · 05/11/2007 15:35

Oh yes, we're having tantrums here too. I can't help but laugh though when he stands there stamping his feet and squealing.

I got an email from mn the other week about all the stuff an 18 month old should be doing. One of the things it said was that they should be saying between 5 and 20 words. Well my mum counted up about 150 words (plus animal and other noises too) words that ds says regularly. He never shuts up.

OP posts:
Ponka · 06/11/2007 21:40

Oh yes, completely tantrum obsessed. I read somewhere that the increased speach and tantrums go hand in hand. He's actually only just learnt the word, "No", which I was surprised he didn't say earlier. He's been saying yes for a long time. No is now his favourite word.

Today we had his first ever tantrum over the colour of his bowl. Bless him.

So, is anyone thinking of Christmas present ideas yet? I think we are going with a brio type train set. We are always so stumped for DS2 because we've already got so much for DS1.

Excuse me for not being around. I've sort of defected a bit to facebook. Anyone else on there and interested in linking with me could CAT me.

DebitheScot · 07/11/2007 11:35

oooh I'm in love with facebook too. I can waste so much time doing not a lot on it!

We're getting ds a rocket from ELC. Also maybe an aquadraw and a brush set so he can do my cleaning.

I really want to get a brio type train set. Think I'm going to wait till his birthday though. He has a duplo one that was mine when I was little but I've said for years that the only reason I wanted to have children was so that they could have a brio train set!
Do you know if all the different people that make the wooden train stuff make them all the same size? ie can you buy brio, tesco's own, ikea (there's is v cheap) etc and use them all together?

OP posts:
pepperrabbit · 07/11/2007 20:40

Grr I just typed a long message and my internet connection dropped - so I'll do an abridged version!
Debithescot - I'm on facebook. I'll try to CAT you.
Yes, we have tantrums but DS1 is such a pro, I think DS2 feels a little in awe!

pepperrabbit · 07/11/2007 20:51

debithescot - apparently you have set your profile not to receive CATS. Which is fine as many people are dog people and don't like cats at all
I'm sooo hungry waiting for DH to come home with a curry as he's working late again..
can you hear my tummy rumbling?

DebitheScot · 08/11/2007 08:56

I can be CATTED now. I didn't realise I could be catted, I thought I had to pay for that to be able to happen.

DS decided that 4.30am was a good time for a full blown screaming tantrum. Don't really know why but there certainly wasn't anything wrong with him. Now I'm knackered.

Hope your curry was nice pepper

SlightlyMadStuffing · 08/11/2007 21:32

HI guys...I don't do facebook, I daren't .

DDs trantrums consist of her throwing herself to the ground and laying there. If it is a bad one (about once a week) she screams and crys and crys and crys.

She also has a temper and has a verbal trantrum at times too especially if we block her from something, e.g stop her going upstairs with DTDs.

this is DD3s main present. We didn't know what to get as she has a lot of DTDs toys. I have half teh little people town out of the loft for her at the weekend. I just need to clean it.

Not sure she needs a buggy TBH, but hey it looks fun...

SlightlyMadStuffing · 08/11/2007 21:35

Ponka...No is a word which has only fairly recently been added to DD3s vocab too, she says lots she just didn't say no. A friends DD (born same day) was saying 'no' back in may/Jun...so I was a bit worried. Then I just thought tried to convince myself that we have a nice happy household where she doesn't hear the word no very often

DebitheScot · 29/11/2007 09:20

It's all gone quiet again here. Where have you all gone?
