hatrick - thanks, I like your new name

I guess we are favouring traditional

Personally I'd avoid any 'ie' ending type names.

I think some can be twee and have become overused and had their day. I have a boy with an 'ie' ending name, I do still love it but there are a lot of them about.

Most ie endings in girls names remind me of parlour maids. No offence intended.

No Kitty reminds me of Kitty Wilkinson not a bad namesake

Hulababy · 26/03/2007 22:11

I love ie names Most of my favourites are ie/y names! But then I like quite pretty/girly names best, rather than strong or harsher sounding names.

Would be easier to have some idea of types of names you quite like and ones you really don't like - some examples maybe!

Psycho · 26/03/2007 22:12

I think the 'parlour maid' trend was cute but is now waning, names for the Mistress of The House, now the order of the day.

On that basis forget Dilys, she'd definetly a maid and it's lady Helena or Susannah.

Or Elizabeth.

I love all of those.
