LTH - can I take this onto MSN? Got loads of questions (even if you don't have answer and don't want to bore everyone on this thread!!!)

laughalot · 30/03/2007 20:48

Wilkie glad your back and hope it is good news for Mr wilkie. I am going to try the dreamfeed thing tonight so will let you know how we get on with that one. With regards to j feeding could it be wind I always give lauren a drop of infacol before every feed as she is bad at winding and it works a treat also I dont know if you read what was posted the other day but when you make up your milk do you shake the bottle to disperse the milk ? I always did and apparently when you do that and get all the bubbles in the bottle it aint no good for there tums so it is best not to do that I have tried it I just give it a stir round with a stearlised spoon and it seems to have made her tum a bit better. We can do a mumsnet meet up and polish off a bottle or two of southern comfort whilst filling our face with sweet and sour chicken hong kong style

Shimmer im afraid it wasnt me who posted about the swimming.

Dragonthe swaddle me not so good at the moment she prefers the sheet however I did order the bigger size one and it is loose so may suit her better in a month or so.

Remember everyone next sale get your bargains.

CarrotAteAllTheEggs · 30/03/2007 20:55

LTH, your peanut munching shouldn't affect his skin, the point of not eating it is not to sensitise them to it so they don't have a reaction when they eat it/come into contact with it, and unless you're feeding him peanuts? I think that's how it works anyway, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

ellieandhattieandchocolate · 30/03/2007 20:56

laughalot can you please set up your msn !! also can you email me on [email protected] as need to ask you something off board and dont have your email

ellieandhattieandchocolate · 30/03/2007 20:58

Its just that I can recommend a few creams as ellie developed rash after hattie born, we found aveeno cream excllent (we did buy it but after badgering dr got it on prescription) and oilatum do a cream (can get it in boots) and found that aveeno worke well on her body but oilatum cream worked better on her face. hth x

JodieG1 · 30/03/2007 21:01

LTH - Ethan's spots have jsut about gone now but he had them quite badly at first.

Wilkie - not sure about the bottle, maybe he's just had enough and doesn't need any more?

Ethan isn't sleeping through and to be honest seems a long time away from it, oh well just have to keep on doing it lol. He also wakes up during the night and stays awake for a couple of hours nearly every night, not fun and I'm knackered.

vinorouge · 30/03/2007 21:02

Shimmer - where I take Ellen swimming she has to wear a disposable swim baby under a 'happ nappy' that is a big pair of pants made from same fabric as wetsuit basically so it clings and nothing can leak out. Then a wetsuit over all that which also covers the bum. Her bum definitley does look big in it!

Rgee- none of my washing dried outside today so the tumble dryer has been busy....I did 4 loads and I finally cleaned the fridge so feeling quite pleased with myself.

Laughalot is the Next sale tomorrow??/

vinorouge · 30/03/2007 21:08

that was meant to read happy nappy

laughalot · 30/03/2007 21:24

Vino yes it is tomorrow

ellieandhattieandchocolate · 30/03/2007 21:40

Fatal telling me that Laughalot especially if kids bedroom things are in the sale as want to get all te bits ready for when we make Hatties room a girly palace rather than boring neutral colour nursery!

Muckypup · 30/03/2007 22:02

Shimmer - I was at Sussex too. My younger sister (there's a bit of an age gap) has just started there this year and is living in East Slope - same as me - and when I visit her I sometimes think I'd love to be back there until I see how dirty their bathroom is...

re teaching: It's a great job but very full on during term times. I'm going to find it hard when I go back. Advantages are that they tend to be family friendly employers and you get to spend the school holidays with your children without having to pay for child care. The first two years are very difficult though as you have to spend hours writing essays and planning lessons. Is it possible to train part time? If you can get some experience in a school before you apply I recommend it.

LadyTophamHatt · 30/03/2007 22:07

EaH, sorry I missed you on MSN then. Bloody download went all stupid.

LadyTophamHatt · 30/03/2007 22:11

I've just put some new photos on profile btw...

theUrbanDryadLovesCremeEggs · 30/03/2007 22:55

hey everyone!
man, i'm away for ONE DAY and it takes me all evening to catch up!

LTH - my HV prescribed Epaderm for Zac's spots which have cleared them up a treat. we also use Oilatum in the bath, and make sure that we rinse the bath afterwards so dh doesn't go flying in the shower first thing in the morning.

we had a scare last night - Zac had blood in his nappy and a rash that didn't go away when i pressed it, so after haing the fear of God put into me by Nhs Direct i took him to A&E where we got seen (eventually) by a doctor who transferred us to the children's ward for tests etc. the ward was horrible - we were put in a very tiny room with two other very poorly kids who were coughing and feverish; we got seen by a junior doctor who said that the rash was probably eczema, and as Zac wasn't running a fever or visibly distressed we could probably go home, but he needed the senior registrar to discharge us. the senior registrar came to see us briefly and said that we were at the end of a very long queue and she would see us when she could, but that probably wouldn't be till morning. so dh and i discussed it and decided to discharge him against the advice of the registrar because the risk of leaving him in the room with the sick, possibly infectious children was greater than taking him home.

anyway, he's fine now, slept through from 10pm till 7 this morning, although he was difficult to settle tonight and has been quite clingy today. he had his hearing test and all was ok, so i'm not too worried. but we'll be keeping an eye on his temperature for the next few days.

whoever it was with the baby wetsuit - where did you get it??

theUrbanDryadLovesCremeEggs · 30/03/2007 23:04

and, not to be outdone, i too have uploaded more pictures onto my profile!

this is soooo going to turn into a competition between me and LTH isn't it?

gorgeous pics everyone btw. xxx

ellieandhattieandchocolate · 31/03/2007 07:32

LTH I went to bed as was knackered hopefully you got the link.

UD poor you and Zac (and dh!) I think if I was in your posistion I wouold have done the same as god knows what you can catch in there. Just a word of warning when I took H to hosp after her moses basket accident, she was monitored by triage nurse who said that after 2 hours she was fine to go home, however, because we were not discharged by paed senior consultant they faxed all our details to Hv who then rang everyday for a week and popped in to 'check' I was ok just thought may be worth mentioning.

The wetsuit things are available in most kids shop mothercare, next, adams etc found this one on ebay which would be the right size for Zac in the summer

blue uvwetsuit

2HappyEaster · 31/03/2007 07:39

Dsis had her baby at 2 this morning . Why does that make me feel broody ...?

UD - hope lo is better today
UD/LTH - really cute pics

Ds2 slept through AGAIN last night, it wasn't a fluke!! Unfortunately, to prepare himself, he cluster fed in the evening so I woke up with tits like boulders, but it's worth it! [ouch emoticon]

LadyTophamHatt · 31/03/2007 07:51

EaH/UD IME the HV will call you or pop in after any visit to the hospital.

DS3 cut his finger on the blade of a hand held blender once, I couldn't for the life of me get it to stop bleeding so we took him to A&E to get it glued.

It was heaving in there, probably 30 children waiting so before even seeing the triage nurse we went home because it had started to seal shut

The HV rang the next day to find out how he was and we hadn';t seen any medical people, just being on the hospital database means you get a call I think.

Glad you came home anyway UD, I would have done the same too.

WilkieBarEasterEgg · 31/03/2007 09:21

UD - definately think you did the right thing bringing him home - they usually give small babies their own rooms though away from other children (even when you are waiting) to minimise the risk of them catching another infection.

Jacob has taken 3 bottles of 5-6oz since I posted last night - I have knocked the Gaviscon on the head for the time being as it seems to clog the teats and I wonder if he is getting frustrated. I'm also not winding him till the end of the bottle which helps him not to get annoyed! Fingers crossed.

Well, he's nodded off in his chair so housework and washing calls (of course I won't be refreshing this page every few minutes to see what is going on!!!)

2Happy - I think you should be banned on this thread from having a LO sleeping through. It's jst not fair I used to like you

RGeeSusIsCrucified · 31/03/2007 09:41

UD - sorry to hear about yesterday Hope all is well today

Hi Wilkie - welcome back. Hope you had a nice time away.

Laughalot - we tried the dreamfeed last night at 10.30pm, and she still woke up at the usual 3.30/4am time slot for a feed. Going to try it again tonight though

Auntie 2Happy - congrats to your sis!

WilkieBarEasterEgg · 31/03/2007 09:44

RGee - we have started dreamfeeding again at 10.30pm and although he is still waking between 2.30-3.30am I am going to persevere cos I think in the long run it will help in the quest for 'sleepingthru-dom'

Auntie 2Happy - sorry was too busy wallowing in my envy of you, congratulations to your sis!!!

ellieandhattieandchocolate · 31/03/2007 09:54
