March 2017 babies

So my 9 day old baby boy was delivered by emcs at 37+5 gestation due to presenting breech (waters broke and contractions started). First baby so lots to learn!

Currently giving him expressed milk and formula topup. We tried breastfeeding but there was latch issues, he got very frustrated as he wasn't getting satisfied and my nipple was cracked and bleeding within a couple of days. I then got blocked ducts and the whole thing was a disaster really. I feel like a bit of a failure and did get help from bf clinic for the latch but it was little too late. With the c section recovery I just feel too exhausted to have him on the boob constantly and least with formula he is getting some decent sleep (although I'm usually expressing during this time so don't get a proper rest).

Oh and his fussy time is between 10pm -2am. He tends to feed and need winded on repeat between this time. It's exhausting but tonight I had a nap from 7-10pm in anticipation.

Come and join me for some chat...

purple you've had 2? Hmm wonder when mines going to make an appearance.

I know! It will be the day I plan to take DD swimming for the first time! Bought her first swim suit yesterday and a pack of little swimmer nappies. Do I need a ring or something for her to sit in? Any suggestions?

DS is 3 months exactly today! We can't believe how fast the time has gone.

MotherofA · 10/06/2017 16:38

Just realised my DD is also 3 months exactly! X

Carolann8584 · 10/06/2017 18:54

DD has had a weird couple of days, only wanting small feeds, not wanting to sleep anywhere but on me and not on her back. So had her sleeping on me from 3 this morning. She's had 3 dirty nappies today which is unusual as she is quite regular with going every other day. Checked her temp and it's fine. She's happy in herself still very smiley and "talkative". Just wonder whether it's the start of chicken pox, her other brother has them now Confused

Carolann8584 · 12/06/2017 11:51

Well it's happened, DD has chicken pox Sad

MotherofA · 12/06/2017 12:48

Oh feck Carol ! So sorry to hear that !

Carolann8584 · 12/06/2017 13:38

I knew something's been wrong with her the past few days, only having half or just over of her feeds, she's had 7 dirty nappies in the past 2 days, 3 today already. She's not had a high temp but her heads been clammy and feels cold

purpleviolet1 · 12/06/2017 19:43

Oh no Carol Sad sorry to hear that. Hope she feels better soon and it's not too tough for you.

Time has flown but I'm really beginning to enjoy DS now. With the issues we had with the milk allergy and silent reflux it's been pretty full on and exhausting. In 5 weeks we could potentially be weaning! (Going to wait as close to 24 weeks as possible but the earliest they recommend is 17 weeks with reflux).

Anyone got or getting a jumperoo? Planning to get one soon. Ds has great head control and has since birth really but in a few weeks I think he would really enjoy it.

What's a jumperoo? Smile

DD had a full feed this afternoon, so so happy she managed to drink it all and keep it down as I think she's dehydrated, her soft spot is sunken.

She's 12 weeks on Thursday, my DB said so she's 3 months ? I said no! Not til the 23rd so over a week away! Don't like it when people make her older than she is lol

purpleviolet1 · 12/06/2017 21:52

Aw Thats great.

Lol I've been counting it from the DOB, he will be 13 weeks on Wednesday so I've said he's 3 months. It just happens that he was born on 15th and it'll be the 15th on Thursday too.

Oooo there is so much on the market, thank you for sharing! Hugh tell me about the sit-up seat. Does it have padding behind their head or is it designed for when there is good head control. DS is good but he does sometimes bob about a bit when completely unsupported.

Carol how's your DD now?

OP posts:
Carolann8584 · 13/06/2017 18:35

She's fine in herself, a couple of her spots have blistered, she only has about 10 spots in total. Still not having her full feeds but getting better. Bit gussied now and then but think she's handling her first illness quite well. Smile

Carolann8584 · 13/06/2017 18:39

Gussied?? Fussier!

Carolann8584 · 14/06/2017 23:29

Awww hugh so cute!

DD is doing Ok, still no fever, she has a few spots blistering. As it's a warm night she's in a vest and bundle with mitts on so she doesn't scratch. She obviously doesn't have the coordination to scratch her body but she has a couple of spots on her face which she can scratch

Carolann8584 · 14/06/2017 23:32

Still not got much of an appetite having 3-4oz instead of the 5-6oz we got up to. Worried about her getting dehydrated. Her soft spot is dipping a little

Carolann8584 · 14/06/2017 23:32

hugh where did you get the seat?
