So my 9 day old baby boy was delivered by emcs at 37+5 gestation due to presenting breech (waters broke and contractions started). First baby so lots to learn!

Currently giving him expressed milk and formula topup. We tried breastfeeding but there was latch issues, he got very frustrated as he wasn't getting satisfied and my nipple was cracked and bleeding within a couple of days. I then got blocked ducts and the whole thing was a disaster really. I feel like a bit of a failure and did get help from bf clinic for the latch but it was little too late. With the c section recovery I just feel too exhausted to have him on the boob constantly and least with formula he is getting some decent sleep (although I'm usually expressing during this time so don't get a proper rest).

Oh and his fussy time is between 10pm -2am. He tends to feed and need winded on repeat between this time. It's exhausting but tonight I had a nap from 7-10pm in anticipation.

Come and join me for some chat...

Need to call docs back soon, finally got through and they asked me to call back after 4:30!

Carolann8584 · 05/06/2017 16:31

No jabs tomorrow Sad

purpleviolet1 · 05/06/2017 19:11

Aw hope your LO is ok Carol.

Got omeprazole from the docs today instead of the ranitidine. Still to carry on with the hypo allergenic milk. I'm soldiering on! DS also very interested in his cuddly toys now. Just showed him by chance and he loves it. All smiles. Getting the odd giggle too now! I've noticed he sometimes starts crying but as soon as I speak to him e stops! Cheeky monkey looking for attention!

Hey all how are you doing ?
The bedtime sleeping thing well I have no answers for you haha . I just started putting her in a routine ish at about 8 weeks and she gradually woke later and later for a feed .
The routine is bath / top & tail wash at 6.30 ish with cuddles (last feed 6-630) and chatter . Then she goes down in her crib with the room dark ish and I play her classical music haha . Also I still use the calpol plugin thing which I used when she had a cold as it has a really soothing smell .

Hugh I have been trying to work today but mostly been either feeding or comforting DD or cleaning . I really need to buck my ideas up but find it hard to get motivated .

How are everyone's stomachs who had a c section ? Mine is swollen on one side above the scar . Pretty grim Grin

Is anyone going away ? We are going to Greece next week and SC's are coming so that's 4 kids travelling and I think I will need a holiday to get over it .... DP keeps saying he can't wait haha

purpleviolet1 · 06/06/2017 13:00

Hi Mother, we are ok thanks Grin we have been doing a bedtime routine too but it ends up being about 8 by the time he gets to sleep (after feed and reflux distress). I then get him up for a dream feed at around 10.30 and fingers crossed he has been sleeping until 5am, having a feed and then sleeping till about 8ish.

No holidays planned for us, we are getting new house keys in a couple of weeks! Enough trauma for the year lol

C section feeling a lot better thanks, still tender on my tummy though. Finding it easier to move around now but only really felt things change at around 9 weeks post section. Before that it was grim.

No holiday for us this year

I've never dream feed DD, she's pretty much in a routine now feeds every 4 and a half to 5 hours. So wakes about 4-5 in the morning then sleeps until 7ish when her daddy gets up for work Smile

Think she's getting a bit of cradle cap ☹

purpleviolet1 · 06/06/2017 14:05

That's great Carol. I found that if I didn't dream feed him At 10.30pm and let him sleep on, then he would have his long sleep of 5-6 hours at an inconvenient time for me eg from 7ish and then wake at 1ish and again at 5ish. So now I try and time it that he has a full feed at 10.30ish. To do this I sometimes need to top him up at 6pm even if he has had a full feed at 4pm. Sounds complicated but it works!

Can't fault you !

Congrats on the house 🏡 purple !

I was getting lo down late but we found she was crying and ratty wanting her bed so I made it earlier .

Carol my DD got a bit of cradle cap so I put olive oil on a few times and it disappeared !

LO has her second lot of jabs on Thursday , I almost cried at the last ones so I'm not looking forward to that .

purpleviolet1 · 06/06/2017 14:44

Thanks Mother. We've got our second set next week!

mother my DD hasn't even had her 1st lot of jabs! Was supposed to have them this morning but as she might have to chicken pox I have to wait 2 weeks to see if she has them before I can make her another appointment! And as my GP surgery isn't great she might have to wait another 2 weeks for her appointment!

MotherofA · 06/06/2017 16:07

Ah bless you well fingers crossed she won't get them Carol x

purpleviolet1 · 06/06/2017 19:07

Any good Father's Day present ideas?

A couple of years ago I got my OH some blocks/cubes the look like children's building blocks only bigger. I had 2 made 1 for each child, they each had 3 pics of each boy and the other 3 sides had personalised messages from the boys. That was a couple of years ago so going to get 2 more done for the boys with updated pics etc plus 1 for or DD.

I also plan on making his card from the children. I had an idea of making a family tree printing on the front using the hand and foot prints of the boys and maybe try and get a couple from DD.

NameChange30 · 06/06/2017 20:36

I'm going to order a personalised card from Moonpig with photos of DH and DS together, we have some lovely ones.

I've also got a book and CD of nursery rhymes in DH's language so he can read/sing them with DS.

Might get something with "Papa" on it if I can find something that's not too cheesy or expensive!

Carolann8584 · 07/06/2017 21:29

I weighed DD today, had the HV come round as I'm not allowed to take her to the clinic. 12lbs!! Smile

MotherofA · 08/06/2017 17:53

I'm a tad broke but I got a vest for baby off eBay which says "our first Father's Day . Daddy & baby's name " then I made a card online and put a picture of her in the vest on it. I'll put her in it on Fathers Day too.
Also got one of those funny ladybird books "the Dad" for a bit of banter .

purpleviolet1 · 08/06/2017 18:06

I better get a move on and get something ordered.. thanks for the ideas!

Well those lovely pregnancy hormones are definitely leaving my system. Noticed when washing my hair that I'm starting to loose hair again (normal everyday hair loss) still waiting for my AF to come back, not that I'm eager for it just getting my body back to normal Smile

purpleviolet1 · 10/06/2017 14:20

I've had two AF's.. my hair has defo started falling out! Can't believe we are at the 12 week mark already. Had BCG yesterday. A little out of sorts more than usual. The omeprazole is helping along with the nutramigen.

MotherofA · 10/06/2017 14:32

Sorry to sound stupid but what is an AF?

NameChange30 · 10/06/2017 14:44

AF = Aunt Flo = period
