So my 9 day old baby boy was delivered by emcs at 37+5 gestation due to presenting breech (waters broke and contractions started). First baby so lots to learn!

Currently giving him expressed milk and formula topup. We tried breastfeeding but there was latch issues, he got very frustrated as he wasn't getting satisfied and my nipple was cracked and bleeding within a couple of days. I then got blocked ducts and the whole thing was a disaster really. I feel like a bit of a failure and did get help from bf clinic for the latch but it was little too late. With the c section recovery I just feel too exhausted to have him on the boob constantly and least with formula he is getting some decent sleep (although I'm usually expressing during this time so don't get a proper rest).

Oh and his fussy time is between 10pm -2am. He tends to feed and need winded on repeat between this time. It's exhausting but tonight I had a nap from 7-10pm in anticipation.

Come and join me for some chat...

Same routine as last night and she fell asleep around the same time. Smile so happy she settled herself in her Moses

Carolann8584 · 03/05/2017 18:07

Tesco have BOGOF on pampers nappies and Atpamil is on offer! 2 for £18 but they didn't have any from birth in stock at my local store

troodiedoo · 03/05/2017 18:42

Six and a half hours. That's some good sleeping! Mines done 5 once or twice but I usually spend the last hour of that fretting whether to wake her up Hmm

MotherofA · 03/05/2017 18:47

Hi All ! Haven't been on in a while , hope everyone is well .
Carol I had the same thing the other night , made bottle and waited for DD to wake but she didn't haha . I also feel the same about DSC .
How's everyone finding the tiredness? I napped for the first time yesterday and felt quite groggy after Grin
Friday we have jabs for little one and post natal for me , hate hanging around doctors .

Feeling the tiredness today, after the long snooze the night before, last night was the opposite. Woke every 2-3 hours wanting a feed. Had 4oz everytime. Then today only had hour long naps so by the time i had a brew/washed bottles/stuck a load in the washer/sort out dried clothes there was no time for a lay down.

Didn't have tongue snipped today, I missed the part on bring a feed with you! So annoyed with myself, the next slot is in 2 weeks!

DD getting use to our night time routine this is day 4 Grin

Hugh
I bought the tea online (Amazon) and have just ordered some more actually as it's quite tasty and seems to be helping!
It might be available in health food shops too but getting out and about is a mission so I wouldn't risk it without being sure it was (and probably having other errands to make it worth the trip!)

DS has had a cold for a couple of days, he's been very congested. We bought some Sterimar (saline nasal spray) for babies and he hates it (so heartbreaking!) but it does help him to breathe more easily.

Carolann8584 · 04/05/2017 02:00

Another 6 hour sleep for my little lady Grin

purpleviolet1 · 04/05/2017 07:46

Very good carolann! Last few days are getting one 5 hour stretch from 11ish till 4. A small feed and then up at 7. Long may it continue!

Thanks Hugh , really excited! 10.5 is a really good weight :). Our 6 week is tomorrow.

Shame about the tonguetie carolann. Two weeks will fly in.

Thanks for the BOGOF heads up. Anyone using Aldi nappies? I've been using pampers but was thinking of giving them a try.
MotherofA nice to hear from you ! I'm still finding the exhaustion too much (pre existing health issues) Last couple of days I've not done the night feed and I feel much better !

DS was very upset all day yesterday. Just cried and cried Sad think he was very windy. And then overtired and then hungry, gulping too fast adding further to the wind

Hoping today is better!

I'm using mamia nappies and wipes. Can't see the difference from when we used pampers apart from cost 😁

Carolann8584 · 04/05/2017 11:39

Aldi have a baby event on today, online and in store

purpleviolet1 · 04/05/2017 13:13

Thanks carolann!

I've used them all and they are all OK, but dd poos at least ten times a day so she's never in the same one for long

She did the magical six hours last night, I feel like a new woman! Grin

purpleviolet1 · 05/05/2017 12:50

We are managing 5 hours, just, I can't wait for 6! I'm not getting to sleep properly though Angry

Morning ladies. Anybodies LOs barely napping during the day? My DD seems to enjoy her power naps of 45mins to an hour these days. Still having her long naps from 8 til 8 which is great but she seems to fight napping during the day

troodiedoo · 06/05/2017 11:38

Hi carolann yes mine is much more alert in the day now and only has very short naps.

She's starting to go longer at night and early morning though so I'm happy with that!

Carolann8584 · 06/05/2017 12:12

Ok good, yeah I noticed she will go down for 4-5 hours (sometimes 6 hours) after her 8pm, 1am and 5am feeds.

Her wind has gotten a lot better the past few days as well no more screaming late afternoon/ early evening in pain. Grin

Might try a mum and baby group next week, anybody ventured to one yet? Am nervous lol

troodiedoo · 06/05/2017 12:38

I'm going to one next week, a health visitor run four week course called life with baby. Week one topic is family well being. I've looked into groups as well, might give some a go in the next few weeks.

We are very similar! Grin

Carolann8584 · 06/05/2017 12:41

We have HV on Friday lol

I've got my check up at my GPs on Wednesday and my DD has her check up the following Monday. What would I do without the calendar on my phone to remember all the appointments.

What happens at her check up? Will she have her shots then or will they be done at a separate appointment?

NameChange30 · 06/05/2017 12:49

Don't know if it's the same everywhere, but we had a "6-8 week" check up when DS was just over 6 weeks old, and they can't have their vaccinations until they're 8 weeks old, so it's a separate appointment. I had a nightmare getting an appointment for his vaccinations but I won't bore you all with the story! The HV told me they used to do an 8 week check and vaccinations all in one go but not any more. A GP does the check and a nurse does the vaccinations, so that probably has something to do with it.

purpleviolet1 · 06/05/2017 14:20

We had our 6 week check yesterday and I told the GP I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed. It felt good.

DS is on the comfort cow and gAit milk and he is very very windy now. Didn't know that it was to be expected with comfort but apparently says on the aptamil comfort that it can cause excess wind. So we've bought fennel seeds and going to try soakin them and giving him a few mls before each feed to see if that helps. Don't think infacol is helping at all now but gripe water is helping. He isn't even managing to get into a deep sleep since the wind is constantly unsettling him Sad so he's 'sleeping' quite a lot during the day too.
