I keep forgetting I'm not pregnant any more. I need to do my roots :)

Nickname1980 · 30/10/2016 10:11

Now I can join! My little one finally arrived this weekend.

Tough labour and breastfeeding is like sharp pins again Shock. Totally thought it would be easier third time in four/five years... but no!

Going to read thread now!

Welcome nickname!

Is baby a boy or girl? What weight?

Nickname1980 · 31/10/2016 00:02

Thank you fresh! Beautiful baby boy. Ended in an EMCS and am feeling pretty dreadful though.

How is feeding going for everyone? I am bf but considering stopping as it's just so painful (was with my last, but I persevered through and it got better by 6 weeks - feeling a bit too broken to go through that again!). I'm trying to remind myself how much easier bf is the long term. But oh, the short term! So hard!

MyBreadIsEggy · 31/10/2016 08:39

Feeding seemed to be going well for us, but now I'm struggling with major oversupply and forceful let down in my left breast Haloween Sad to the loint where DS completely refuses to latch on the side, screams, squirms and fights me if I try Haloween Sad so this morning I've pumped enough from that side to relieve pressure, and am trying block feeding with the left to see if my body regulates itself Haloween Sad
Feeling completely broken today Haloween Sad

Afreshstartplease · 31/10/2016 09:50

We have bottle fed with formula from day one so can't comment on the breastfeeding issues. I've never even attempted it.

Sorry to see some of you are struggling though. Flowers

MyBreadIsEggy · 31/10/2016 12:18

I've attempted something called block feeding all morning, where you feed from the "good" breast only for 4-6 hours, then only feed from the "problem" breast for the following 4-6 hours - apparently that should tell my "problem" breast that it doesn't need to make as much, without leaving me at risk of blocked ducts and mastitis Hmm watch this space.....

NovemberInDailyFailLand · 31/10/2016 12:37

I can't bf because of old surgery, baby DS seems to want to feed continually, though!
I wish he'd drop off - he's been grousing since 8 am!

Has anyone had problems with nappies leaking? If not, what are you using? Mine keep leaking and making us both cross :)

Afreshstartplease · 31/10/2016 12:57

Yes me!

I'm now using Morrison's and finding them much better than pampers

OP posts:
milkshakeandmonstermunch · 31/10/2016 15:14

We're using Aldi nappies this time with no problems so far. We used Pampers with DD1 and they're overrated imo.

milkshakeandmonstermunch · 31/10/2016 15:20

Does anyone know how long we're supposed to stick to cotton wool and warm water for? I think I lasted 3 weeks with DD1 but can't remember what the official advice is...

Afreshstartplease · 31/10/2016 15:22

I don't know if there is any as such. We've been using wipes from day 1

OP posts:
MyBreadIsEggy · 31/10/2016 15:43

Another vote for Aldi nappies!! They are ace!
We are still having to use Boots own brand micro-nappies for DS because size 1 is still too big, but as soon as he's big enough, we will be using Aldi. Have used them since DD was born and she's now in Aldi size 5 pull ups which are just as fab!!

MyBreadIsEggy · 31/10/2016 15:47

I'm also one of the terrible mothers who has used wipes since day 1....my baby's bottom hasn't erupted into boils and fallen off yet Hmm

NovemberInDailyFailLand · 31/10/2016 16:04

We've been using the reusable Cheeky Wipes with warm water and combining them with regular wipes depending on the situation/amount of poop.

milkshakeandmonstermunch · 31/10/2016 16:26

Hurrah! I'm going to ditch cotton wool and switch to wipes then. We have a really slow hot tap and it takes forever for any warmth to come through which is annoying at 3am.

derryjojo · 31/10/2016 16:47

Well I did it. On the final day of Oct, my gorgeous ds was born.

Afreshstartplease · 31/10/2016 16:49

Welcome derry

Milkshake that sounds a right pain!

NovemberInDailyFailLand · 31/10/2016 17:35

Derry, congratulations on your Hallowe'en baby!

LillianFullStop · 31/10/2016 17:56

Nice to see you here nickname and derry!

My DD1 doesn't agree with my right breast and screams the house down when I try to give it to her. I tried pumping from both and it seems the right breast doesn't produce as much milk.

It's day 6 and I'm still having to top up with formula Confused I don't leak and breasts seem less sore/engorged than when milk came on (day 4). I feel like I'm plateauing with the milk production Sad

I'm going to keep on with the cotton wool and water only because I bought a giant bag and I want to use it up - after that I have water wipes and huggies wipes on standby!

Has anyone started bathing their LOs? DD1 got a bath at the hospital but im not planning on giving her one at home for another week.

MyBreadIsEggy · 31/10/2016 18:28

Lilian I've bathed DS twice, and he's two weeks old tomorrow Blush just been doing top and tailing in between! I wanted to hold off his first bath for a bit longer, but my 18 month old sneezed with a mouthful of juice right over his poor head while I was changing his nappy Blush

milkshakeandmonstermunch · 31/10/2016 18:51

Twice in 2 weeks here too. Day 7 and day 11. Will probably bath her once or twice a week until she starts solids.

Afreshstartplease · 31/10/2016 19:59

I found water wipes to be awful. They are so frickin cold I would not want that on my arse

OP posts:
NovemberInDailyFailLand · 31/10/2016 20:49

We've bathed DS a handful of times, just very quickly.

TeaGirl3 · 01/11/2016 02:23

We had to bathe our DD yesterday for the first time, as she did the biggest nappy explosion! We'd been waiting for six days and was as predicted; grim! We're also using water wipes and sensitive baby wipes; so far no problem (touch wood!!!!)

Having feeding issues so currently combining expressed bottle and formula, while trying to breastfeed. She will sometimes latch but then falls asleep or just sucks the nipple.
