Oh no eggy an orange juice bath doesn't sound good! I'm a bit scared to do it with her cord tbh!!

Tea I'm the same we're having to top up with formula as she doesn't seem to latch long enough to feed exclusively. I might go to a BF drop in. Do you have one near you?

ProudBadMum · 01/11/2016 09:48

Hi guys.

Derek here. Just wanted to see how everyone was getting on!

I'm on week 3 now and it's getting easier-ish Grin

Afreshstartplease · 01/11/2016 10:34

Two weeks today here and all is good!

2 weeks here too now. DH has gone back to work. Gulp. DD1 has nursery today but tomorrow will be interesting.

Bf going well and isn't painful anymore. There is less leakage and my bras are now lined with nipple pads as opposed to maternity towels Blush

DD1 is still driving me mad.

MyBreadIsEggy · 01/11/2016 11:15

I've spoken to my cousin who is a super-breastfeeder of 6 children over the years, and she told me (as well as Dr Google) that's it's fine for me to only feed from my right breast and pump the left to avoid mastitis Smile so hopefully this will be the end of our latch/Gas/spraying issues on the left side!!

NovemberInDailyFailLand · 01/11/2016 12:19

Hi, Derek! How are things? Is it going smoothly?

Mr November is also back at work. Baby November will not be put down and I have a shedload of crap to sort out so a bit irritable rn :(

ProudBadMum · 01/11/2016 14:27

It's going ok. Her dad goes back south for work next week so will be ok my own so that should be fun

She's still too small for some tiny baby clothing Grin not yet 7lbs

Afreshstartplease · 01/11/2016 14:52

Gosh what a dinky little thing she must be!

Ds is 9lb2 on day 14!

Will baby get to see dad often Derek?

Hi all, just wanted to join in Smile Our wee girl was due 29 September but ended up arriving 12 days late on 11 October, weighing 3.51kg. First-time mum, she's three weeks today, so still trying to get the hang of all this!

ProudBadMum · 01/11/2016 16:41

He moves to us in January so will be often then.

Afreshstartplease · 02/11/2016 10:33

That will be good! Not long to wait!

Did anyone have an episiotomy? I'm finding it really tough as I can't bend down to pick up my ds for fear of tearing my stitches. I'm even afraid to go to the toilet. Last night I coughed and thought I had tore.

MyBreadIsEggy · 02/11/2016 12:21

derry no episiotomy or stitches this time, but when I had my DD 18 months ago I had stitches and was terrified of going to the toilet too!! If I needed o poop it felt like my stitches would "pop", and if I had to pee, it felt like battery acid was being poured over them Sad Have you tried leaning forward and placing your palms on the floor in front of you while you sit on the loo to pee? Makes it run straight into the toilet instead of over your stitches. And for number twos, try pushing a clean pad on your stitches as you "go" - it supports the perineum so it doesn't feel as though your insides will fall out!!

evs34 · 02/11/2016 17:50

Can I join you please?
No. 3 now 11 days old. Vaginal delivery following long induction. 6lb10. Breast feeding. Some issues with v long clustering 8-11 hrs, usually overnight. She had a post tongue tie cut on Monday so hoping things will improve.
We are on wipes. I agree- water wipes freezing in the middle of the night.

evs34 · 02/11/2016 18:09

If you feeling sore when you wee try sitting facing the back of the toilet and pour warm water over your lady bits whilst you wee. It helps a lot!

milkshakeandmonstermunch · 02/11/2016 19:59

Welcome evs! DD2 is cluster feeding too from around 8pm. Some nights just for a couple of hours and others 5 or 6 hours.

derry I had a 2nd degree tear and stitches this time but episiotomy last time. I'm using lactulose until my stitches dissolve. The midwife said that she has never heard if anyone tearing a stitch from going number 2 but I'd sooner be safe than sorry. Lean forward when you pee. I also pee in the bath just before I get out Blush. I know that's really really grim but it is my favourite pee of the day as it doesn't nip at all. I literally have no shame left Sad.

LeonardaCohen · 02/11/2016 20:06

Hello, can I join you all? Ds3 born on 31st Oct, 8.5lbs, so we just sneak into the Oct club. Am finding bf much more painful than i remember so it's great to hear people finding it easier. And also that you're starting to feel more normal!

MyBreadIsEggy · 02/11/2016 21:24

milkshake no shame in peeing in the bath!! When I had DD, I used to run a shallow bath every time I needed to go and pee in there! Our gas bill was astronomical....but my fanjo wasn't sore Blush I feel I've been extremely lucky this time that I've had almost zero soreness!

NovemberInDailyFailLand · 03/11/2016 01:21

I had a third degree tear with my second. You don't burst your stitches, promise. But go in the shower or hold a clean pad over them if you feel better.

How is everyone getting their babies to sleep?

MyBreadIsEggy · 03/11/2016 02:38

We bedshare.
I'm trying to learn to BF lying down, but DS is having none of it Hmm

milkshakeandmonstermunch · 03/11/2016 10:36

DD2 is getting quite good at going in her cot. Some nights she sleeps in with me. She's pretty chilled in general tbh on account of being neglected for 90% of the day because DD1 IS FUCKING DEMON SPAWN!!!!!!!

derryjojo · 03/11/2016 10:42

I've mastered touching my toes so that I can pee with relative ease. Haven't got the courage to poo yet.

The wee man slept through from 3 until half 9 today.

MyBreadIsEggy · 03/11/2016 11:11

derry the longer you hold it, the worse it will feel Confused I bought some Fybogel from boots and it made my first poo way less scary!

Afreshstartplease · 03/11/2016 15:16

I second what eggy says. If you leave it top long you may get it impacted! Make sure your having loads of water

OP posts:
Nickname1980 · 03/11/2016 17:27

derry, I didn't have an episoptomy thjs tkme but I did last time and I know exactly how you feel! I was terrified of going to the loo! But the longer you leave it, the worse it gets as eggy and fresh said.

Eat loads of figs and dates and drink orange juice and warm water. And buckets of water in general. That'll help make it, ahem, softer, so easier on you! (I find stool softener makes my tummy feel really gassy and bloated, but that's just me. It works a charm for most!)

(I have been doing the figs/ ginger tea/ lots of water thing and I had a section this time and it's helped a lot!)
