Hopefully this works...

So we can keep in touch and pass on words of wisdom!

Perhaps someone clever could link to the stats?

beaut er, no - the whole point of paternity leave is to support you and the family, is it not? I'd be livid if anything else took precedent unless I was happy about it. Hope your headaches get sorted, I've had one for a couple of days that I can't shift, but also have tail end of a cold so it may be that. Downing lots of water today to see if it helps.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 19/07/2016 13:08

No epidural here. I've been to the GP and they can't find any reason for such bad heads. She is calling a breast feeding specialist at the hospital as its possibly just feeding that's causing the problem. I've bought some formula in case Sad I need to function for the other children as well as Monty-Beau.

Dats i had known about the stag do for ages but now it's the extra evening plus meeting his friend Thursday and he left me at home Saturday evening while he saw his friend. I tried to explain today but got told I'm being a bitch.

Indians I'm just snacking between feeds. The only real meal I've been having is breakfast. Shredded wheat. In the day it's biscuits, fruit and yogurts Blush

Thom80 · 19/07/2016 15:55

beautician - I would be annoyed, my Oh keeps having to go away for work and that annoys me enough! There is also one thing agreeing to a stag do when you are pregnant and another thing to the reality of dealing with 4 children & breast feeding with severe headaches. As you know I am steady in awe of you coping with 4 and now breast feeding. I struggle with only Emmie.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 19/07/2016 16:00

Thom I wouldn't be in awe. I'm seriously thinking of using the formula now and letting my milk dry up. I will be absolutely gutted as my supply is so good. I'm scared that I may stop breast feeding and still have the headaches.

Flossiesmummy · 19/07/2016 18:16

Beaut hope the headaches get better for you soonFlowers

The weather, while lovely, is just too much for the LO. Anyone else?

Rubytuesday2980 · 19/07/2016 20:35

Beaut the headaches sound awful, could it be tension related - a bit of a viscous circle of getting a headache because you're worrying about a headache? Someone once told me to concentrate on relaxing my jaw and I realised that I was constantly clamping it shut when stressed.

Flossie yes, I'm having a proper freak out about him being hot. We've got all the doors and windows open but it's still boiling. All Huey wants to do is sleep and it's really hard to wake him up to feed him, have been making sure I do every two hours at least, but how do you know that they're OK when they're just asleep all the time?! Any tips greatly appreciated.

Need to get the notebook out again as have been dipping in and out of this thread but just can't keep my baby brain up to date...

dollydaydream84 · 19/07/2016 21:52

My little one has only woke for feeds or we have had to wake her today it must be the heat. She has been quite alert when she's been awake but can't remember the last time she slept this much.
I will be setting an alarm tonight to feed her at least every 3 hours just to make sure she's ok.
Horrible
Can't wait for it to cool down.

Ellizardo · 20/07/2016 01:50

Flossie & ruby - as long as they're having wet nappies, I'm ok, and just have Claudia in nappy only or vest top when out. It's quite a good time to do nappy free time on a disposable change sheet and you can also get those portable fans to attach to pram.

Beaut - really sorry to hear of your headaches, have zero idea what they can be esp as you're drinking water so can't be dehydration. Hope you get some respite soon X

Cheery1 · 20/07/2016 05:15

flossie cluster feeding sounds familiar. We're still on the SCBU and soooo hot! Reckon it's making him less settled and more awake. So far managed 45 mins of sleep twice. Loooong night

Cheery1 · 20/07/2016 05:16

beaut sorry you're having a hard time - you've always amazed me with your strength and organisation. Be kind to yourself. Can you do a bit of mixed feeding see how that goes? Might give you a bit of a break? Xx

Cheery1 · 20/07/2016 05:18

P.s. Headaches sound awful - not the time for DH to get a busy social life!

HopesAndDreams15 · 20/07/2016 14:33

Sorry for those who's Dp/DH's aren't being as supportive as they could be...mine has been on the receiving end of a few choice words over the last couple of days for being a uncooperative knob when I've been knackered Grin

Beaut hope the headaches clear soon, sounds awful. I personally would ask DH not to go for the extra night on the stag do...you need his support more than you ever will at the moment.

Indians when I was expressing and bottle feeding and and it would take Harry an hour to take an ounce and a half I felt that I didn't have time to eat. I literally had to force myself to eat for the sake of my milk production. Unfortunately I'm back to stuffing my face now Confused

Harry hasn't settled well the last couple of nights after his night feed...3 hours of hiccups, farting and straining noises...probably due to our bedroom being as hot as the pits of hell...it's a good job he's cute!!!! Grin

HopesAndDreams15 · 20/07/2016 14:35

Apols for the many, many typos...blame my little sleep thief!

Well I've used some formula as well as still doing a few feeds and already my headaches have improved slightly.

Hopes did you stop breast feeding gradually or did you just let your milk dry up??

Cheery1 · 20/07/2016 17:02

We're still in hospital after being told we'd be going home today. All because a test result has got delayed meaning Maurice is on medication just in case he has a virus. We could have gone home on Saturday and we've just been waiting. I'm getting no sleep on the ward as its noisy and he gets disturbed twice during the night (aside from feeding) to administer the drug by IV that he may or may not need. I am losing my sanity slowly but surely and am so worried about the effect of this stressful environment on me and more importantly the baby. DH paternity leave has all been used up on visiting is in hospital so I'll be on my own after 3 days once we get home. It's really not how i wanted the first week of my baby's life to be. Especially as he's thriving and we might be here for no reason. We're waiting due to a clerical error basically and all we're getting are sympathetic faces that are now driving me mad!!!!! Rant over. Sorry ladies.

dats · 20/07/2016 19:24

Cheery that's shit, I'm so sorry you've been stuck there. Can DH take another few days off or something to make up? Not ideal, I know Sad Really hope they get their act together and you can get the hell outta there.

Cheery1 · 20/07/2016 20:51

Thanks dats really needed a rant! X

HopesAndDreams15 · 20/07/2016 22:30

Beaut I reduced the amount of times I was expressing over 5 days until I was only expressing 3 times a day and then stopped...only had one day of boobs being engorged and painful thankfully. I'm glad the headache has eased but sad it seems linked to the breastfeeding as I know how much you wanted to bf....could it be worth another chat with your dr now you've got a good idea that the breastfeeding is causing it?

Cheery I can't imagine how frustrated you are, sending hugs and hoping you and Maurice can make your escape soon. I understand how you feel regarding DH's paternity leave, I only ended up having my DH at home for 4 days due to being in hospital before and after the birth which was shite :(

Cookiesandcoffee · 20/07/2016 22:35

Oh cheery I'm so sorry to hear of this frustrating situation. Hope you get the hell outta there ASAP. Is there no chance of DH taking an extra couple of days off? Could
He blag a few holiday days?

beautician your headaches sound utterly crap. The combination of heat/lack of sleep/ lack of proper meals/ breast feeding has left me feeling headachey - I don't think it sounds as bad as yours though Flowers try and rest (haha) when you can and definitely be kind. I must admit I'm really struggling with BF in the heat- we are both so sweaty and v Unenjoyable . You're doing so well though, remember that. Especially with multiple children. I'm struggling with two plus baby attached to boob. I would sit DH down and tell him exactly how you feel about the extra night away and that you really need his support. Failing that I usually have a tearful meltdown about being able to cope Grin

indians brilliant!!

hopes I was looking forward to my DH going bask to work for this reason!

primary that's amazing! Go Annie! We had only just reached birth weight at 2 weeks! I gave George a rather tepid bath to try and cool him down yesterday in desperation. He was livid!!

speak so sorry to hear of your chicken pox drama, what awful timing. Glad you aren't suffering too much yourself. I hope Corins clear up without too much scarring. Given that they can't be scratched I should imagine they will heal up well?

thom how awful that you've been so poorly, has the sickness stopped yet? I hope your OH got a sharp telling off smack in the face for that comment! Honestly we should start an official list of stupid/annoying/dickheadish things that the men have said/done! flossie sorry to hear yours is also in the club

Oh and primary I use a dummy if I urgently need to attend to another child, if he starts crying at the checkout/on the way home so I can feed as soon as we get in. I've started to learn his habits and sometimes he just wants to suck to fall asleep and when my nipples were really cut/infected it meant they never healed.

Been struggling to catch up this week and don't even think now I've managed to get everyone. DH back at work this week and with the crazy combination of school & nursery runs / events at school and nursery I'm shattered! Trying to eat well better is a struggle too. Had my hair highlighted today so that's made me feel better. It had been 2 years and I was looking very mousey. Surprise surprise DH hasn't noticed Hmm my 3 year old DD noticed though!!
Whoever mentioned breast feeding / what to wear in the heat - I'm on the same mission!! What DO you wear?! Today I just yanked my maxi dress down and exposed my boob Blush

dollydaydream84 · 20/07/2016 22:44

Indians - how is feeding compared to before the tongue tie snip? Ours is this week and I'm hoping it helps as DD is not satisfied after a feed from me, she needs feeding hourly or every 3-4 hours from a bottle so definitely struggling when breastfeeding.

dollydaydream84 · 20/07/2016 22:47

Cheery you poor thing i was stir crazy after three nights on a Normal
Ward. Really hope they let you home soon xxx

hopes, cookies dolly thank you. Xxx

dollydaydream84 · 21/07/2016 02:31

Oh that's great Indians did you used to get "lipstick shaped nipple"? I'm keeping everything crossed it helps, she really doesn't get enough from me. Currently sat expressing, she's had a bottle tonight in middle of night to see if that settles her more, nuisance sitting expressing for an hour but anything to help her and to get more sleep!!
