Just trying out Mini'so new Ewan the Dream Sheep. So far so good. Although he might put me to sleep too Confused

purpleporpoise · 25/03/2016 19:26

We're doing family things this weekend. Today was swimming, lunch out and DIY shops!

Tomorrow I'm waiting for a delivery then going out for lunch. Maybe to the Wensleydale creamery, depends on what time it is.

Sunday is lunch with parents. Maybe a trip to in laws on Monday.

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend Smile

Ewan makes me so sleepy it's ridiculous

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 25/03/2016 20:20

Currently in my bed with DD1 cuddled up beside me and nursing Mini on a pillow in my lap while Ewan plays a harp solo. I swear I am going to fall asleep before both of them.

Lalathelastdinosaur · 26/03/2016 01:46

Wensleydale creamery! That's my kind of trip!

So night 3 of gentle sleep training and B has woken once, instead of the usual 3 times by now. I've just done a shortened feed as the book says (2 min), popped him back in his cot and he's gone to sleep Shock

Night before went brilliantly until 4am when he then was too restless to go back to sleep. I'm hoping to see improvement tonight. I've watched him self settle a few times on the monitor. This is a revelation. I actually watched a film with my dm last night after putting him to bed. Normally I'm up and down settling him, then have to go to bed at 9. Last night I put him down in cot and he just went to sleep.

Please please let this continue to get better. In 3 days we've gone from hourly wake ups to this. I feel like there's actual hope for having a bit of a life again. Something had to give because me and Dh were on our knees with tiredness. He'd had 6 colds plus a more flu type virus since Christmas and it's been miserable.

Hope all you new cluster feeding mummies are ok. It's so gruelling at the start but also lovely having the newborn cuddles.

This weekend I'm mostly concentrating on getting sleep training done! Mum is here unto wed. I worked a kit day thurs which was great. I've got 4 more before I'm back at work in May. Doing one Tuesday because I've got a funeral on my usual day of Thursday. Had a sad week last week - my friends dad died of cancer (we grew up together so I knew him well) and then a girl I know died. Very sad. Still can't get my head around that one.

I should be asleep.

How is weaning going all the weaners sniggers childishly

B is doing really well and is having loads of different textures and flavours. He loves peas, courgette, anything strong flavoured. He gagged badly on banana last week so I had a crisis of confidence. I bought ClevaFeed and Extra Silicon Teat www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00I5JH2S6/ref=cmswrcpawd_iKE9wbDRPEMPM this thing to help introduce him safely to fruit pieces as he was gagging loads and it was making me too scared to give him them. It's fantastic, he properly enjoys the fruit and I don't panic

Anyway, I should be asleep. I don't ever think I'm going to catch up properly so might just draw line under the posts I missed and start again from here. Forgive me!

Carrot, tea, Gouda, jelly, country - how are you guys getting on?

Lalathelastdinosaur · 26/03/2016 01:51

B had the colds not Dh by the way. I'd be less sympathetic if it were Dh!

CarrotPuff · 26/03/2016 02:11

That's amazing progress la, well done! Sorry about your friend's dad Thanks

Jelly I hope you had a restful day and are getting better Brew

This night hasn't started very well, O keeps waking up every hour, but only sucks for a few mins and falls asleep Confused Attempt at sleep #4...

RPopz · 26/03/2016 07:18

Mmmmm.... Cheese!

Amazing progress La. You must be so relieved. Hope it continues for you.

I'm going to indulge in some serious retail therapy today, just because!!

MaGratgarlik1983 · 26/03/2016 10:22

Big congratulations sky! The newborn stage is so hard and wonderful all at once!

Sorry about your friend's dad la.

Weaning is going ok here we've been doing it now for about two months and still DS prefers smooth stuff. Trying textures but he's not the biggest fan. He does like finger foods though. He's still having tons of milk but does seem to have naturally dropped a couple of feeds but we shall see I guess!

In other news I have caught a bug where my throat has felt like sandpaper since Wednesday urggh!

Happy easter all.

CarrotPuff · 26/03/2016 11:23

Rubbish night here, don't think I had a longer than an hour stretch. DP got no sleep either as DS woke up 5 times with full blown tantrums, which is unusual for him (the number of wake ups, not tantrums), so we are all pretty shattered today...

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 26/03/2016 12:59

Ohemgee! That Ewan is the business. The womb sounds put Mini straight back to sleep during last night's feeds. She also stayed asleep longer. I had two solid hours this morning and I feel like a new woman! En route to MILS for Easter lunch. Have forgone heavy pain killers in favour of being able to drink the Wine. Will need it I suspect Wink

la sorry you have had such a challenging time lately. Your heart must be heavy. Really well done with the sleep training. It takes nerves of steel some days. Sending you an extra large slice of Cake

Hope you get a nap in carrot...

Happy Easter everyone 🌸

purpleporpoise · 26/03/2016 16:19

Hugs La, 2 deaths close together is hard, I had that a couple of years ago. Glad the sleep training is working and yay to better sleep and an evening with DH.

Parcel still hasn't arrived so we've not left the house SadI'm annoyed it's myself for not changing it to another day. We're going to pizza express for tea to get out of the house. Hopefully will go to Wensleydale on Monday.

B has done a bit better with finger food today. He had some melon and a banana biscuit. The pineapple disintegrated. When I hold food out to him he reaches for it with his hand now, not his mouth! He also managed a couple of bites before dropping the food. It's a long slow process and requires more patience than I have. I'm doing some finger food before I give any purée and making sure he's hungry but not starving as he just cries then

Yay for more sleep Sky!

O has been quite fussy all day today... Gave her a bath earlier, and when I was dressing her after she made her first couple gurgles, yay!

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 26/03/2016 20:11

Aw purple hope you make it to Wensleydale Monday!

purpleporpoise · 26/03/2016 20:55

Thanks Sky Smile

We went to pizza express and he had a doughball and a bit of pizza crust....and then a bit of raspberry sorbet off my spoon bad mummy which he loved Smile

Morning all,

How are you feeling Jelly?

Rpopz, did you buy anything nice?

Well done to all the weaners (snigger!).

So... how early can sleep regression start? We've just hit 3 months and I feel.as though things are starting to unravel.....

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 27/03/2016 04:54

Morning pud! Hope that xmaspud isn't too grizzly... We are on the Dream feed over here. It'seems been a long time but IIRC DD1 had an early but swift sleep regression around that time.

Visit with MIL and SIL went well. Luckily I was out of the room when MIL told DP she wishes to call Minisky "Willow". For those who remember we went with the unusual "W" name I posted about on the FB group a few months ago and she HATES it... Apparently DSD and DD jumped in to correct her straightaway and said how much they love her name! Bless them. I also caught her being a bit nasty to DD. She didn't notice me sat around the corner breastfeeding so I coughed loudly and corrected DDS behaviour loudly. She then scuttled over and started asking questions about Mini. She referred to her as "it" and I gave her a stern look and said "she". That seemed to cure her for the rest of the visit... I think that perhaps in the past I have been too nice/eager to please and perhaps that's why she takes the piss. No more Mrs. Nice Guy then - works for me! 😂 The biggest surprise was SIL who loves our girls but has previously been very sure to tell us she "isn't into babies" was in the end, very taken with Mini... Grin I am just glad we made it there and back unscathed by the travel gods. It is about 2 hours each way by taxi/train/tube and we did it with zero drama at 6 days pp! Have rewarded myself with a large slice of chocolate cake.

Thank you for the congrats Ma are you a NC? I don't recognize your handle. Anyhow very nice to see you! Wink

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 27/03/2016 04:59

Oh and purple excellent weanage skills! Star for you!

jellypi3 · 27/03/2016 06:03

la sorry.to hear about your shit week. 2 deaths is a huge shock.

sky well done you, amazing accomplishment. Glad you stood up to the outlaws though.

pud hope it's just a blip! Thanks for asking, feeling better but tired. The stress of the past week is over so just need to get over this flu/cold now.

Although I feel I jinxed my luck by saying how well R slept the other night on FB, last night we had 3 wake ups and ended up getting up at 4:30 because she wouldn't settle. She's now asleep on me which she's not needed to do for a while.

Hobbit19 · 27/03/2016 07:19

Maybe it is the crazy weather affecting our babies sleep? Clutches at straws The school kids all turned into loons when it was windy/a full moon and we've had both of those this weekend! (I realise that this is a very unlikely reason for my baby not sleeping but I need a reason so that I know it will go back to normal!)

Sky, your MIL sounds like a PITA, but we'll done on the travel - cake very much deserved.

Hope you are okay La. Brew

RPopz · 27/03/2016 08:30

Wow sky .... Not sure I'd even made it off the sofa by day 6! You've got this parenting thing down! Wink Well done for standing up to the MIL.

Happy chocolate Jesus day everyone! ChocolateEaster Grin

I got some new shoes for work Pud and a couple of bits for minipopz. Feel guilty buying him more clothes as my friend has given us tonnes recently (her lb is the next size up from minip). Though he does get filthy at nursery!

Hopefully not early sleep regression pud! I think minipopz slept better at 12 weeks old than he does now Shock

He's getting some molars through and doing lots of horrendous poos and dramatic screaming and throwing himself around the house.... Hmm Taking him to see my Mum today so hopefully he will do his usual transformation into Angel Baby for her benefit Angry

Sorry to hear about the bad nights! Brew for you all x

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 27/03/2016 10:08

Ooh pops the final bit of teething is awful Flowers Thank for the lovely compliment but I just got lucky with a chilled baby (for now) minimal foof damage and kids who will behave if bribed with the promise of copious amounts of chocolate HmmGrin

Lalathelastdinosaur · 27/03/2016 10:33

Hi guys happy Easter!

Thanks for all your well wishes, honestly I'm fine. My friends dad had cancer and was very ill so it was not unexpected. Sadly the girl I know took her own life. It's extremely sad. I didn't know her well, but she's well known in my circles so I'm supporting friends who were close to her.

Anyway. So we are celebrating another improvement last night due to sleep training. He did 7-2:30 (3:30 new time which confused me!) which is his longest ever sleep. Gave him very small feed like book says to do and then put him back down and he slept until 6:30 new time. Each time he went down in cot completely awake and put himself to sleep. I'm so proud of my wee squidge - what a legend. In a week he's gone from waking hourly and having to be held, to this. Barely any crying after the first day, just grizzles a bit.

Today we are having a roast and chilling.

Lalathelastdinosaur · 27/03/2016 11:05

Ma we are the same - B is taking lumps better now but he's definitely a slow burner on the weaning front.

Sky long may the chilled baby last! Some people joined us on this thread who weren't on grads eg snap and ma.
I don't recall the W name from the Facebook page that you chose but I'm sure it's lovely. Tell MIL to bog off.

Purple well done with the finger foods! What a wee star B is :) We are doing the same - he gets really upset if I faff with finger foods when he's hungry so I offer them inbetween meals so he can get used to chomping and textures when he's not ravenous. Or alongside his meal. He had strawberries yesterday. The pinwheels were popular too! I'm still struggling with the choking anxiety but I'm trying to remember that we are not in competition with other people so if we are comfortable just doing a few finger foods then that's fine. He'll get there.

Pud I think it's pretty common around the 4 month mark. There's a massive growth spurt at 3 months. Could she be in that?

Good work on the shopping Popz! I'm meant to be getting B some new stuff. At 8 months he's now in age 1-2 clothes. But there's too much choice and I'm struggling to limit myself! Got baskets full in La Redoute, Lottie & Lyshe, Etc

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 27/03/2016 15:16

I believe my breasts may be engorged. Baby faaaaaaast asleep after cluster feeding half the afternoon. Have sent DP out to the Turkish supermarket to get me a cabbage for the bra...
