Happy Easter everyone Easter Smile

la losing a young person is always devastating and suicides are exponentially harder. Grief is a terrible thing. Your poor friends. That is fabulous news about sleep training though. You must be so pleased!

DulcetMoans · 27/03/2016 16:01

I'm in! My app locked me out when I restarted my phone and then I couldn't remember my password and the forget password link won't send me a bloody email. Been emailing MN in virtual tears that I might not get to be Dulcet any more. Then I suddenly remembered I made up a different password for getting into MN.

Now to read back and catch up again... Hope you're all sugared up on chocolate. It's my main body fuel nowadays.

DulcetMoans · 27/03/2016 16:21

Excellent sleep progress there la! I really hope this is the change he needs to start sleeping better. Although I will be lonely in the early hours with no one to talk to! Sorry to hear about the sad deaths in your love though, that's never nice.

Welcome to grads grads sky! Sounds like you are recovering very well. I was probably still crying 6 days pp. I expect having other children forces you to be more active quicker too. Hope you get a break as well - you are more than entitled to a rest with all that going on and having just given birth! Tea and chocolate egg for you, stat!

Boooo to feeling ill ma. Hope you're drugged up - ok chocolate if nothing else. Very good for a sore throat.

Thanks for the reminder purple - we have a voucher for pizza express from my birthday. Really should do that soon! Are they good with babies? That's why my friend got it for us actually - she said it's the first place she fed in public. Guess they must be pretty prepared for babies if you took B!

It's not strict on the regression front pud, so could be the start of it. I think it's linked to development and they start to go through a lot of development then so it messes their sleep. Maybe you have a super smart baby who is doing it early!

In our world of weaning, he continues to eat most things and has now started to drop day feeds. We are down to 3/4 a day now. Would rather be dropped the night ones! Grandma is desperate to give him chocolate tomorrow. I'm on the fence...

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 27/03/2016 16:49

I'm paying for it today Dulcet My fanjo and legs hurt and I am shattered despite lots of sleep in the night. Have had a huge hunk of red velvet cake and more of the children's sweets than I care to admit. Just waiting on DP to put away shopping so I can take a long nap... Read chocolate we waited until her first birthday to let DD have any but I can't remember if there was a special reason for that...

CountryGal4 · 27/03/2016 18:11

Just stopping in quick... Will be back during early hours when r feeds. LA sorry about the shit time. Flowers were ok still struggling bit miraculously he woke once last night. Had to be the night dh got up with him and I was in the spare room!!

purpleporpoise · 27/03/2016 19:35

Thanks viroids. He's had some seeded bread crusts today and loved them. He's not keen on toast but I'll try some warbys toastie on him tomorrow.

Yay for sleep training La I'm so chuffed it's working for you lovie

Dulcet they are very family friendly. They brought colouring pens for him!

NC?! I'm guessing new convert? I hopped on and off the freds for a while tbh!
I do think the four month regression is a thing we certainly had it but it's not a regression as such because it's when their sleep cycles change. So instead of DS being able to sleep anywhere he became more sensitive to background noise. What we did was to try and get daytime naps in the cot using a good routine etc. But DS is a nightmare without enough sleep!

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 27/03/2016 19:42

Ma NC means name change. Lots of posters will change names for various reasons. We lost lots of posters after the big hack a few months ago and they slowly returned with new handles. I thought you might have been one of those. Easter Wink

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 27/03/2016 19:44

Oh and I meant returning to the JS threads as I have just graduated from Grads and before that was on JS or Undergrads. Gosh, so much lingo. Are we a quiche? Easter HmmEaster ShockEaster WinkEaster Grin

DulcetMoans · 28/03/2016 00:46

Oh I do agree the 4 mnths regression is a thing ma, didn't mean it to sound like I didn't. Just that the timing can be a bit fluid.

Due he do much with a colouring pen purple? Think J would just eat them!

Typical baby behaviour there then country - wait until it's DH turn! Did it mean you slept through at night though at least? Hope you can repeat it!

Night has started a bit shit so not expecting much sleep again. Sad One day viroids, it's my turn one day!

purpleporpoise · 28/03/2016 00:51

Haha no I gave them back!

Lalathelastdinosaur · 28/03/2016 01:29

Bloody storm keeps waking baby up! He's doing really well settling himself each time, but so long as he keeps waking up I get no sleep :(. Fuckiff storm!

Pizza Express is crap in my town, it's gutting because I normally love it! Went a couple of times then gave up. I like a pollo ad Astra without the pollo I do.

Cmon baby go back to sleep! He's doing so well I'm so pleased with him. But I can see him on monitor frantically rubbing his eyes trying to go back to sleep while the wind howls outside.

He had a roast potato today which he LOVEd, but threw up 5 minutes later. Bum

rdm10 · 28/03/2016 06:54

Happy Easter viroids! Hope you've spent the weekend surrounded by chocolate and hot cross buns! (And sleeping babies!)
Purple warbys White toast is the best thing ever! He'll surely love it and if not you get to eat it all!
pud we're in month 4 sleep hell regression but H started at about 16 wks, gx it is just the weather and you get at least a few more weeks of lovely long chucks of sleep!
la B sounds like he's doing so well with the sleep training. It's giving me some hope that these 1-2 hourly get ups won't last forever!
H has been full of a cold for 3 wks now, thought it was done but then snot started just pouring out of his face! Poor thing. Gx we're coming to the end of it now and he'll be able to breath and sleep better.

CountryGal4 · 28/03/2016 07:18

Yeah had a full night. Dh takes him once a week.

Whispers he woke up once again last night- down at 11 30 awake at 2:30 back down at 3 30 and up at 6 30

He still cries when winding. His Moses basket is at almost 45 degree angle and double doses of infacol isn't quite keeping Away the constant day crying. I'm gonna get the hv to set us up with a gp app

Great news about all the weaning and sleep training!

Hobbit19 · 28/03/2016 08:22

That sounds really tough Country. Hope you find something that works soon.

Sky, be careful with the cabbage leaves, they can dramatically reduce your supply. Can you express/hand express enough to be comfortable instead? You can stash the milk in the freezer for future use too.

Welcome back Dulcet!

DH did a night feed and has taken P after her morning feed so I'm still in bed. Yey for holidays!

DulcetMoans · 28/03/2016 10:00

Not much luck on the sleep here, we've had two awful nights. I don't know what is wrong with him but he just won't stay down. Cries and sobs. The storm didn't help here either la, the wind was blowing at the bedroom windows. He's ended up in our bed about 5am so I can lay down but even then I can't sleep properly as I have to stay in one position and try to stay on the edge of the bed! My eyes sting so much. Was hoping to catch up a bit over these holidays but DH did his back in so has been less than useless!

Great news in the sleep there country! Hopefully the start of a new routine for you - 1 or 2 wake ups is doable for now. Not such good news for you rdm, the babies are so rubbish with colds! Just want to get them to blow their noses!

Was nice of them to offer purple, thought maybe B was an advanced artistic talent. Maybe he will be!

Lalathelastdinosaur · 28/03/2016 10:17

Country B had terrible wind when he was wee and would groan from 3am onwards unless held upright. In case it's useful, the following things really helped:

Hold upright 10 min after each feed
Infant massage (I went on a course and would do massage at least once a day - the wind flew out of him!)
Hula legs - video on the grads Facebook group if you're interested!
Infacol before each feed
Wind really thoroughly after feed
Each time I took him out of crib for night feed I would lay him in bed and push legs up and back to release trapped wind. Very effective!
I also took him to cranial osteopath, who worked on him when he was a couple of weeks old. Vagus nerve was apparently squished which can affect digestion and his diaphragm was tight. I was bit skeptical but afterwards he farted madly for a day and then seemed better.

It's really frustrating when they're windy as they just wiggle and wiggle when you put them down to sleep. I realised also that he would make an 'eh' noise when he had wind. Once I knew that it helped me to know he needed further winding before putting him down.

B turned out to have silent reflux which wasn't diagnosed until 16 weeks. That didn't help.

Still windy here but not as bad. I've just woken up because Dh took him at 7 to let me sleep. I feel amazing

Lalathelastdinosaur · 28/03/2016 10:18

Dulcet could it be the 8 month separation anxiety? Or is he teething again? Teeth are a bitch

Rdm I hope he gets well soon poor squidge :( it's awful when they have a cold

MaGratgarlik1983 · 28/03/2016 10:46

Aha sky that makes sense!

Didn't mean to come across as banging the regression drum dulcet! It was just so noticeable for us that that's when he decided to start cot naps etc. Which is good in that he usually will do that now. But I am q bit stuck to the house some days!

L was a really windy baby for the first few months. Infacol and holding upright after feeds seemed to help but it bothered him for a while. Tummy rubbing seems to be comforting as well. And gently pushing legs towards the chest.

Ooh teeth! DS's sleep and moods went to blargh for a week ish before each round of new teeth.

Well looks like our day out at a steam Valley railway is off!! Rainy madness!

cookielove · 28/03/2016 11:22

Hello all :)

I agree that storm was a nightmare last night, last time a tile came off the roof and smashed my headlight I haven't checked to see if there is any damage yet but fx it will be alright!

E has a terrible cough this kept me up but he managed to sleep through! But he went back to bed at 10 which is early for him!

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 28/03/2016 11:48

BrewCakeFlowers to those with poorly babies or who need more rest. Hope you have a peaceful day.

Thanks for the tip pud he forgot the cabbage anyhow... I shall grab some sterile bags for freezing tomorrow and maybe a hand pump. I don't remember this much milk with DD but mini is a champion feeder...

Currently waiting to be seen by doc at MDU. Have a persistent headache and nerve/joint pain. Bloods and swabs taken. Vitals and urine clear. Just want some pain relief that works and my own bed really. Knew my amazing recovery was too good to be true!

CarrotPuff · 28/03/2016 22:37

Country one wake up?? Envy

Sky I hope you're ok.

Fussy feeding/hanging on the boob/staring into space here. I'm so tired and so is she but she won't sleep...

On my own for the rest of the week wth both of them... I'm bricking it.

Hobbit19 · 28/03/2016 22:48

Can you feed lying down Carrot and get some rest that way?

Did you have an epidural Sky? I think that can give terrible headaches.

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 28/03/2016 22:59

I did have a epidural. I also have allergic rhinitis which might be a factor. Vital stats ok and no sign of infection. Official verdict on aching body is "sit the eff down and get some rest this week" also follow up with MW and GP. I'm paraphrasing obviously Easter Wink

carrot I second laying down with baby. You can do this! You are amazing.

BerryB · 29/03/2016 01:38

Name: Berry
Age: 31
DC: B 13 week DS

Since week 6 B has slept pretty well, 7pm until 5-6am with only one or two feeds. This week he keeps waking every bloody hour from 10pm! I'm so tired Easter Sad
