Ooh yes I've found loads of stuff I've not used or wish I hadn't bought. Like such an expensive pram. And the changing unit in the nursery.

TriJo · 10/04/2016 16:19

Just as much of a piss-soaked day as yesterday! He got DH good earlier...

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 11/04/2016 23:26

Feck. Have the thrush or the mastitis or both. Nearly puked in a cab today and hit the wall hard. Apparently getting lots of rest PP isn't just a suggestion? Thank god for ibuprofen

DulcetMoans · 12/04/2016 08:00

Sit down and do nothing sky! You'll just feel worse if you keep pushing through.

Bad news on the pissing tri but at least he's sharing it out between you both for fairness.

Snotty baby here, I have a sore throat. Meant to be having a day out with DH Friday so great timing - expecting to be well and truly ill by then!

Ohwoolballs · 12/04/2016 10:42

Hello!
I've been AWOL for two weeks, only stopping by the ante natal Fred to say I've had the WoolBump.
Tri I missed you having your boy completely I think?! Belated congrats if that's the case 💐🌻🍰

My stats
Me:OhWoolBalls
Age:27
DS born March 25th, 2 weeks 4 days old.

I have had loads of ups and downs with feeding him, giving up on day four when my milk came in and pumping for the next week which made me feel so guilty and down, (and was all I was doing all day and night) I was crying every evening 😕 Anywho, the midwife sent round an absolute saint of a woman called Jan who literally plopped the baby on me with the nip shields and away he went. My main problem was not holding him tight enough so he would always wiggle away/knock the shield off or smack himself in the face. SO, back on the shields and hopefully feeding enough. I'm going to do another week with them and then try and get to a baby feeding group for advice on how to start feeding without (really shy nipnips).

I finally feel awake enough to pick up my phone and be social again so hello all! (I think I met sky trijo and countrygal on the ante natal JS but I might have missed someone.

Ohwoolballs · 12/04/2016 10:47

I've also got the dentist today and I am bricking it. (Really brittle teeth plus morning sickness for the whole 9 months will not impress the dentist!)
Having to leave baby with my younger sis while she finishes her dissertation (no worries there) I am worried he won't take a bottle though.

cookielove · 12/04/2016 11:01

Hello all :)

Haven't posted for ages as E is pretty good! He is 20 months tomorrow ConfusedShock where has my little baby gone!!

So E has been sleeping through pretty much every night since he was 9 months, (apart from illnesses) he has had a cough the last two nights which has really disturbed his sleeping, my husband pointed out this morning that when he was little we were so happy if one night a week he was able to sleep through and now if doesn't sleep though one night we are wrecked! We are light weights now!

Congratulations to all the new mums and new babies!

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 12/04/2016 19:59

Welcome wool

So it turns out I have sepsis. Am in hospital for the forseeable future. They haven't been able to pinpoint the primary infection though it would appear I have mastitis and alsoy bloods indicate something viral. The universe has spoken. I needed to sit the eff down. Feeling pretty awful. I've had a temperature all say and I've been having rigors and am in quite a bit of pain. something has been a bit of a guide to me as she's had sepsis twice! On the upside I saw the lead midwife from my birth and was able to give glowing feedback about the MWs I has at my delivery. They were wonderful.

purpleporpoise · 12/04/2016 20:02

I dropped off the fred!

Having some food issues here with B. He's not liking lumps at all. I got 2nd stage pouches which he sometimes tolerates. I tried baked beans which he'd eat if they were mashed up. Scrambled egg made him cry (tried it twice now). I mashed up a fish finger today, put a tiny bit of fish in his mouth and you'd have thought I was poisoning him!
He can't have dairy, doesn't like toast, gnaws on fruit and veg happily, and quite likes organix baby biscuits.
So he's still having some fruit pouches, porridge for breakfast, and I'm getting stuck now. I don't really want to go to loads of batch cooking effort if he won't eat the stuff I've tried so far. I have loads of puréed veg in the freezer that he has also gone off!

He still has 3 bottles a day so he's not starving to death, and the porridge goes down if there's half a pouch in it. I'm worried he's had too much fruit and now that's all he wants

Bloody hell Sky hope they are looking after you. How awful!

Get well soon Sky, sounds like a nasty dose!

Wool MiniTri arrived on Easter Monday, 8 days overdue. Bit of a rough start with jaundice and feeding issues but he's now an absolute boob monster at 15 days old.

Had the in laws over this weekend, they've just flown back to Ireland. C is absolutely crazy about his granny and it's lovely to see :)

MaGratgarlik1983 · 12/04/2016 20:43

Congrats tri and wool! Blimey sky that sounds rough! Get some rest lady!

Purple L is a bit like that with lumps too. Better now but when I first gave him a stage two pouch he gagged and cried. Now he's better with jars etc than when I make stuff. He just plays with bread. Cucumber he sucks on.

We are still teething. One has cut through and he was happier but then was fussing today and I saw another one on the way! And we have this nasty cough thing :/

Still in two months time we will hopefully be on holiday!

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 13/04/2016 00:55

For those weaning I do remember with DD her tastes for things developed at different times. I think I just kept offering stuff until she got the hang of it.

Just having a cuppa waiting for pain meds to kick in so I can go back to sleep. Fever is finally broken at least.

kbb23 · 13/04/2016 18:45

Purple we had issues with lumps at first too he just refused to open his mouth and eat anything lumpy so i just kept giving stage 1 foods and purees. i left it a few weeks and tried again and he seems ok with them now. how much milk was everyones little ones having at 7.5 months think we need to drop a bottle?

RPopz · 13/04/2016 21:10

Fell off the thread! Just popping in to catch up with you all.

Get well soon sky!

purpleporpoise · 13/04/2016 21:42

Thanks for the replies. I'll just keep trying.
B is having 3 bottles most days, occasionally 4 if he wakes early morning. Otherwise it's breakfast, after lunch and bedtime. He was having 4/5 but weaned himself off them in the last month or so.

CarrotPuff · 14/04/2016 08:42

At this age it's mostly about textures I think.

How about mashed potato? I used to mash I some broccoli into it too. Or even sweet tea potato? Split lentils are good too, very smooth but not completely a purée.

O is so unsettled in the evenings. She didn't settle until gone midnight last night! Tired.com...

Ohwoolballs · 14/04/2016 16:16

I keep falling off the thread and commenting on the wrong ones, ah well.

sky still big love from me! (I left a comment on the ante natal thread)

tri Tour de Yorkshire starts soon, perfect for a cluster feed of a day for your boob monster 😉☺️ (I'm planning on it!)

G has been really sleepy this afternoon. He's just had a feed (I had to wake him up) whilst half asleep and is snoring again, I think he's getting a cold 😕

On a random note, did any of you lovelies get a bednest? (Either rented or bought) G is just NOT sleeping in the Moses basket at night (daytime naps downstairs are ok it seems) Did anyone think it was worth it? Brill? Waste of money? Halp! I'm all for co sleeping (denied to the HVs of course) but would like my chest back!

RPopz · 14/04/2016 21:25

We used the BedNest and it was brilliant. Best money I've ever spent. Although newborns are just not huge fans of sleeping alone full stop, so it took a few weeks before minipopz would sleep in it for any significant amount of time. You can rent them fairly cheaply now.

Ohwoolballs · 15/04/2016 09:40

Cheers RPopz I'm trying to convince DP that it'll be money well spent. 👍

rdm10 · 16/04/2016 05:17

Hope you're on the mend sky

dulcet did you get your day out with dh?

ma where you off to on holiday?

Is it just me who finds dh more irritating than ever since having a baby?? In the first month or so I thought he was the most wonderful guy ever for helping me create and then look after the his gorgeous baby. Since then he just annoys me! By; snoring or breathing ridiculously loudly, complaining about being really tired after waking for 2 mins once a night (😤), napping whenever he can (no, don't take the baby so I can nap after being up 8 times last night!?), oh and my MIL is mental so that's another strike against him!!
I sound horrible don't I? But I feel better for that little moan so thanks for 'listening'! Hmm

rdm10 · 16/04/2016 05:37

Can you tell I'm sleep deprived?? I moan much less in the daytime 😉

cookielove · 16/04/2016 08:29

I found my dh really annoying in the early days! And still quite annoying now! Grin

Hobbit19 · 16/04/2016 11:05

Oh rdm, the 'going for a nap' thing!!!!! DH is only allowed to nap if I nap first ha ha. Tbf to him he did the whole night last night (I slept in the spare room) and has not yet complained about feeling tired. Me thinks that him doing the whole night is going to become a weekly thing. Smile I did have to give her a top up at the 5am feed as she had drunk all the milk. I then still managed to express 6oz without trying first thing, I had to stop because the bottle was full! That's gone straight in the freezer for next Friday!

CountryGal4 · 16/04/2016 19:11

Ah pud Friday is my night in the spare room. It's bloody lovely.
