That sounds a bit dramatic cookie! Hope all's ok.

Any luck with cosleeping Dulcet? I think there's a separation anxiety thing at about 8-12 months. Minipopz's sleep went completely to shit.

Yes, sit the F down sky!

Rubbish at keeping up on here, sorry Sad Get well soon to all the snotty babies!

CarrotPuff · 29/03/2016 16:02

Thanks viroids. I'm not very confident with cosleeping yet. She finally settled at 11 and slept till 1.45. Overall not too bad a night. Also she's starting to poo less frequently I think so I'm hoping this will improve her sleep too.

I started this post a few hours ago so forgot who said what... Some Cake for everyone regardless!

honeysucklejasmine · 29/03/2016 17:45

Hi Berry!

Sky your MIL is a lucky woman.ucky that you didn't kick her head in.

A doing well. 5 weeks old, eating well, sleeping well. Still got reflux but constipation is clearing up.

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 29/03/2016 20:12

honey she is extremely elderly so violence not advisable. I am saving all my rage for useless XH who has been late to collect/drop off DD every single access day despite being on holidays Angry

DulcetMoans · 29/03/2016 20:26

Hi berry! Congrats on your baby, hourly wake ups are rough going. Is that unusual or just the way he is?

Sounds like the recipe for a good fight there then sky. Will you say anything to him or not worth it?

I wouldn't say we are officially cosleeping really popz. More that by about 5am I have given up and bring him into our bed in the hope he will give me an hour. He does settle there but we are totally not set up for it. I just plonk him in the middle. There's pillows and duvets all over where they shouldn't be. I don't sleep well with him there as he takes up the space and wants to feed as I'm so close. I don't know what the answer is now - last night was terrible too so see what tonight brings. He's down and I am going to have a Coke and some chocolate to continue to fuel my existence with sugar.

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 29/03/2016 20:51

dulcet we have an ongoing dialogue... Wink

CountryGal4 · 30/03/2016 10:39

Thanks for advice la. Of course I've seen the famous hula legs. We're currently on double dose of infacol. The up right after feeds definitely helps and were off to see my osteo later. He won't be put down in the day though. When he sleeps at night he's so noisy! Very grunty

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 30/03/2016 12:15

Ugh. Throwing in the towel on co-sleeping tonight. Gonna send DP out for a chicco next to me this afternoon... She just doesn't like the moses basket and I don't blame her and is quite happy on her own in the middle of my bed but I am reaching peak tiredness and getting scared of having her in the bed with me and being so tired I forget she is there... DP took her last night for a couple of hours so I could get some deep sleep and now I've had a taste of it I don't want to go back. Plus the Health Visitor gave me a speech about SIDS. Strangely she seemed to think SIDS was caused by accidental smothering which I was a bit Hmm about but it has given me the vapours anyhow. Wish me luck viroids!

country hope baby is more comfy soon. That sounds very challenging Flowers

Hello berry nice to "meet" you!

CountryGal4 · 30/03/2016 12:37

I'm a big fan of doing whatever works sky.

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 30/03/2016 14:36

Hello everyone, welcome Sky, welcome Berry, apologies to anyone new I haven't said hello to, my memory is shot to pieces with the sleep deprivation at the moment. Congratulations on your weeny ones!

We made it to Wales and back on the train for Easter, spent the weekend with family and it was bloody lovely to be cooked for and have lots of people to help entertain the boys.

We continue to be struck by virus after virus, so snot abounds here. Really getting bored of this now.

DP decided enough was enough with the co-sleeping as we weren't actually getting any sleep for all the reasons you describe, Dulcet. So he took a hit for the team and after about a week of pain R has been much easier to settle in his cot and hasn't come in with us since he was really ill with croup. He's now getting to about 4ish for a feed and then going back to sleep for a couple of hours, which is great. Hopefully the 4am will turn into 5am, then 6am before too long!

Will try to read back now and post properly! I keep having a big read and then forgetting what everyone's said!

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 30/03/2016 14:57

La well done on the sleep training, that's fantastic progress and tough to do when you're the one the baby associates with feeding. Don't get despondent if it goes a bit up and down, it's definitely heading in the right direction.

Re the weaners, I don't think we've tried anything new for a while so probably need to get my act together. R is a bit obsessed with feeding himself so I have to hold back finger foods otherwise he totally loses interest in the main meal. He can just about get a bit if food into his mouth from a spoon, it's all a bit cack handed but he seems very pleased with himself. He now has about 5 milk feeds in 24 hours, they're all pretty small though. His weight is 'reasonable' according to the dietitian, whatever that means. I've given myself permission to stop worrying about it as nobody else has!

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 30/03/2016 16:18

Grrr, just lost a post.

Country, have you tried a sling? R has quite severe reflux and I found my Moby wrap and Beco Gemini invaluable for daytime naps in the early weeks. I then used the sling to get him to sleep followed by a stealth transfer into the cot. I still use the Beco for naps when out and about or at a friend's house, he can't resist the lull of a sling!

CountryGal4 · 30/03/2016 16:34

Hi snap. Have been considering lately dh took him out in the ergo Monday and it's the best he's ever slept. Must quite cumbersome and don't think I could get him in it myself. Any ideas on a light weight solo easy one?

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 30/03/2016 19:36

Well, wraps are nice when they are little but it can take some getting used to all the material. I found I only put it on at home and occasionally went for a stroll with R already in it. I liked it because it was easy to sit down on the sofa/ bed with him in it once he was asleep.

The Beco Gemini I have is a perfect fit for me and R and I can do it up and undo it by myself anywhere in about 10 seconds. My DP can use it too. If I'm out and I need to put him back in I just ask someone to hold him while I do up the back buckle. Lots of willing older ladies in cafés!

I think the main thing with slings is to find one that suits you and your baby, as everyone is a different shape. Have you got a sling library near you, I found it super helpful for trying on and advice.

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 30/03/2016 19:44

Mini is napping in her Chicco. I am so so so happy. Please let us sleep tonight! Smile

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 30/03/2016 20:47

No heating or hot water since we got up this morning and boiler engineer can't come until tomorrow afternoon. The babes have gone to bed fully clothed, one of whom has a fever, and we are shivering on the sofa huddled under blankets. Unwashed. It's going to be a long night.

CountryGal4 · 30/03/2016 21:15

I am a sling dunce.... How do I find out about sling libraries?

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 30/03/2016 21:23

You could try Googling or your HV team might know, or local NCT group or breastfeeding cafe? A friend told me about our local one, the South London Sling library and they have a website. I think most do.

Lalathelastdinosaur · 30/03/2016 21:41

Country there is probably one in your area. Or at least a sling meet. Failing that there's a website 'it's a sling thing' who rent out slings. For newborns a wrap or caboo are good for round the house. Have a look on the Facebook page as there are quite a few viroids with them. For out and about I prefer a buckle carrier - I've got a Connecta but I've had an Ergo before and also tried a Moby Aria which is a beautiful carrier. Your sling library should be able to help you find one that's comfy for both of you - it's really personal what suits.

Sky gx she sleeps in the crib - cosleeping has never worked for me as I am too paranoid about squishing the baby. The SIDS stuff they mentioned is quoted often but ive not really seen much evidence to back up the claim relating to cosleeping. Most SIDS cases I've read have been people falling asleep in couch or chair with baby, due to alcohol or tiredness. But if suffocation is the cause then that's not a true SIDS case anyway, as it's meant to be where no obvious cause of death was ascertained. Sad topic but one I was extremely anxious about when B was younger so did a lot of reading on :(

Snap I'm with you on the illness fatigue. I've stopped taking B to baby classes because we never got time to recover properly between each bout if illness. I was sick of it so decided to stop going.

I'm struggling to get time to post on here anymore so if people want me I'll be on the Facebook page. Anyone who wants to join it PM me your email as I can add people. I just can't keep up with posts on both anymore. My Dh goes spare about the amount of time I spend online.

Anyone not on Facebook - good luck and enjoy your wee squidges x

MaGratgarlik1983 · 30/03/2016 23:33

Just seconding the beco Gemini carrier.

Nefertitts · 31/03/2016 09:25

Just place marking! I am reading but each time I manage to catch up I run out of time to post!

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 31/03/2016 13:55

Drat. Lost a huge post...

Chicco a success! Ergo arriving this evening. Looking forward to trying it out. It was chosen by DP as loads of mini's things were passed down from DD which obviously I got to choose...

la sad to see you go... pop in once in a while with an update?

waves at nef long time no see!

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 31/03/2016 15:46

Sorry you're leaving the Fred, La. Might see you on FB if I pluck up the courage to join! xx

RPopz · 31/03/2016 19:39

Slingpages.com will tell you where your nearest sling library is country. She'd probably be comfiest in a stretchy at this age.

Great news on the chicco success sky. The cosleeper cot we had was easily the best money I've ever spent.

I've had back to back colds since I started back at work! This week's is accompanied by a sore throat Angry

Did you have a better night Dulcet? I'm having Dominoes and easter egg for tea.

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 31/03/2016 20:56

snap did you get your boiler sorted today? Hope you have heat and hot water now!
