Yes, thanks Sky, fixed at 5pm today! Just warming up the flat now. It makes you appreciate what a luxury hot water is. Best shower ever this evening!

DulcetMoans · 31/03/2016 22:25

Glad you've got the heat again snap. such a pain in the arse without it. Where abouts in Wales do you go (if you're happy to say!) We love Wales, hoping to take the baby some point this year but where we go is about 5hr drive so a long way with a little passenger!

Great news on the chicco sky. Anything for better sleep.

Are the colds from nursery popz? I am told that babies starting nursery are horrible germ filled beings that like to share. It's been a shitty sleep week really. Last night was better but I fed him an extra time. Whether he's been waking so much because he's hungry I don't know. Would be even go back to sleep if he was hungry? Just looking forward to the weekend where I'm going to try catch up on 8mnths sleep. DH is saying he will take the baby out so I can sleep but feel bad we won't be doing something together. Can't win! I just had half an Easter egg. And I had chips at lunch - DH doesn't know that though.

CountryGal4 · 01/04/2016 04:05

Thanks for the advice viroids osteo reckons he's got issues with digesting milk and/or lactose. Have colief to prove this theory then off to the doc!

Glad hearings back on! We had a miserable three days in our old flat without heating and it was bloody miserable

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 01/04/2016 10:48

Country, if you have an inkling it might be a dairy issue then push for a referral for allergy testing, the waiting lists can be long. I can't remember if you are bf? If so they might get you to cut out dairy from your diet for a while to see if it helps. If formula feeding you can get hypoallergenic (where the milk protein is very broken down so easier to digest) or completely synthetic formulas (which contain no milk protein at all). Our GP wasn't very knowledgable about formula but did refer us to the paediatrician, where we got more advice

Got to go!

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 01/04/2016 11:36

Yay for heat snap!

country glad you have something to pursue with your GP. Hope it is easily sorted. It is horrible seeing your baby uncomfortable. Cutting out dairy is a bit of a pain but luckily there are so many nice alternatives out there. I had milk intolerance for a year. I ended up getting very creative with baking. There are loads of great vegan recipes online.

CountryGal4 · 01/04/2016 11:47

He's ff but coincidently I don't eat dairy anyway. Have had an allergy for 10 years now! I'm not sure if the colief is helping at the moment. He's settling ALOT better after feeds, has stopped feeding for comfort and fussing with the bottle. He's sneezing and hicupping less but he's still really fussy between 8 and 11pm. Basically spends the whole time crying in dh s face. Dh reckons he starts up as soon as I go to bed. Is that still discomfort do we think or is he throwing a wobbly as Ive buggered off?

purpleporpoise · 01/04/2016 12:50

Country we used a lot of infacol but it stopped working. We then went into colief which worked but costs a bomb. I went to the docs and he said it could be cows milk protein intolerance and prescribed nutramigen milk which started working straight away. We had to put vanilla extract in it to get him to drink it initially but only the first few bottles.

Incidentally I gave him yogurt the other day, just a couple of spoons to see what happened and h was fine. So the next day I gave him more, and he was fine again. Not sure where we go from here now. I probably need to speak to the dietician and make out someone else gave it!

OP posts:
CountryGal4 · 01/04/2016 13:04

It could well be lactose he's allergic to purple. Yoghurt for some is a ok something to do with the good bacteria in it. Colief only breaks down the lactose in milk. I believe the milk proteins are still present. Basically my osteo has said exactly the same as you. Have heard that milk is disgusting! We were the same with infacol... Stopped working after a week!

purpleporpoise · 01/04/2016 14:45

Yeah I'll keep giving him bits of dairy but not planning to change his milk just yet. I'll try a few more things and speak to the dietician I think.

AIBU to be sad that my baby bump has mostly deflated and I just look like regular me + an extra size or two? This is coupled with the desire to do it all over again ASAP despite being quite sure this was going to be the last baby... We already have 3! Tell me the madness passes...

DulcetMoans · 01/04/2016 16:53

That madness never came back for me sky. Can't imagine wanting to do it so soon so not sure I can really empathise!

Do you get repeat appointments with the the dietician purple? I guess the next think would be to try milk but it's risky!!

That is around the baby witching hour country, but not sure I can give you a reason. Is he better if you are still in the room?

purpleporpoise · 01/04/2016 20:04

Not really sure Dulcet, she asked to see us again in May but I can ring her for advice

OP posts:
CountryGal4 · 01/04/2016 21:31

I stayed up later to check dulcet. 8 on the dot he started up. We have employed the dreaded dummy. He's been silent and awake since. Are we terrible parents?

CountryGal4 · 01/04/2016 21:33

Sky I think I'd prefer bump to what I am. Although I didn't really gain I have the apron. My body looks sad :(. Yes to missing bump but not quite ready for another one you mad woman!

MaGratgarlik1983 · 01/04/2016 21:43

Urggh have another cold!! Yes to wanting to do it again sky - I'd like to start trying when DS is 1 but have yet to convince DH!! Imo it gets the baby stage done!

Never feel bad about a dummy! My dad was quite funny when he saw DS with one but he just really needed that sucking comfort in the early months. He still uses it now but mostly just to sleep. He's just over seven months.

Just watching this billy connelly thing as he travels across the states by train - bloomin fab!

purpleporpoise · 01/04/2016 21:58

Ooh thanks for reminding me about Billy Connolly Smile

We use a dummy for naps. He doesn't bother at bedtime with it, just when we're trying to get him to sleep it calms him down. He spits it out when he falls asleep. I can live with this, I hate seeing toddlers with them. At some point I may have to wean him off it, or accidentally leave them at home but I'm not thinking about that yet. no doubt I'll be the one with the 2 year old running round with it

MaGratgarlik1983 · 01/04/2016 22:17

My Dbil and his wife got my nephew off his by apparently getting him to say bye and tying it to a tree for a baby to find. He was about 18 months I think.

CarrotPuff · 01/04/2016 23:06

Country I'd say it's just a baby thing - DS used to scream every evening for a few hours until he was 6 weeks old. Then he just stopped. Gx it passes soon for you. Oh and regarding a dummy - or anything actually - it's only a problem if you see it as a problem.

I wanted to say something else but I'm too tired to think...

CountryGal4 · 02/04/2016 03:13

Thanks gals. Viroids to the red cue as usual. Ergh it's my night to sleep and have just listened to ds scream for tens minutes from two rooms away. Went to see what was up and dh was snoring. Just had to get poor baby his feed. Might as well have been getting up with him myself!!!!

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 02/04/2016 10:52

Oh country poor you that's rubbish! Hope you got some sleep in the end. FWIW all of our girls had dummies and they are totally fine. No speech delays and perfect teeth. Like anything else as long as you don't treat it like a cure all then it is fine. I gave mini a dummy when she was grizzling in the pram the other day and again when she was restless post feed at night last night. She spits it when she falls asleep. She sucks her fingers otherwise which is a much harder habit to break... We saw her doing it at her 20 week scan! Like you say, you gotta go with what works!

DulcetMoans · 02/04/2016 12:59

It does sound like one of those baby things country, they get that grizzly witching hour in the evening. I agonised over whether to give a dummy. It was really early on and he was on me all the time. I was in tears but too worried about what giving a dummy meant. I did give in and it was the right choice for him. He needs to suck to sleep at the moment so uses it similar to purple - mainly naps. I like what carrot said - it's only a problem if you think it's a problem.

Although I don't want another baby at the moment, I do miss my bump sky so can get onboard with that bit!

Rubbish news about the cold ma! Any chance of a rest this weekend?

kbb23 · 02/04/2016 17:27

i am terrible at keeping up. we also have another cold its been pretty much continous since the new year. i miss my bump too not too sure when we will have number 2 too tho

CountryGal4 · 03/04/2016 06:41

I've decided I don't care. Mil got a bit funny about it. Decided not to throw my shoe at her head

DulcetMoans · 03/04/2016 06:49

Excellent restraint country! It is nothing that can't be undone if you change your mind.

Bad news on the cold kbb. Roll on summer!

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 03/04/2016 12:56

country I find it helpful to tell myself that MIL generally see it as some sort of duty to try to wind us up... then I repeat "detach and disengage" in my head silently while hiding in the bathroom eating chocolate eggs or having a cheeky glass of wine in the kitchen with SIL while the rage subsidesGrin

Currently covered in vomit. Including my hair... am sat in bed in a nursing bra and pj bottoms, eating more Easter choc and waiting to see if mini is in fact, asleep so that I too can go back to bed. Her new trick seems to be flailing around like a drunk, then filling her nappy, followed almost instantly loud snoring. Little angel is 14 days old today 💖
