Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 10th Just Mumming thread...following the trials and tribulations of our babies, following the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 43rd grads thread is here

The thread we have graduated from is HERE in its 56th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

The previous Just Mumming thread is HERE

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Morning! Loads to catch up on.

We had photos taken at 20 days old and I looked like ShIT! You can see from my face I'm still totally confused about where I am and what we are doing and I've got greasy hair and double chin. I'm sure you'll be beautiful pud!

Af back popz? Then let the JSIng commence! There'll be loads of you return shaggers soon! Good luck and may the contraband not guide you.

We will be ttc again end of the year. Want a smallish gap 2 years between them if possible. Need to get job sorted first though as can't afford to have baby without mat pay

Dulcet Thanks I don't think the guys will ever understand but we are mummies in our heads from the bfp whereas for them it doesn't take on 'baby' status until much later. You're entitled to remember your baby and feel sad x. Mine was due same time as katos so whenever I see photos of her LO I remember mine. I cried sharing that Facebook post 'mothers diary on miscarriage' yesterday because it was so true of how I felt. Our babies are precious and we will never forget the ones who didn't make it. Sometimes I feel like I'm silly mourning mine because he never actually declined and there was just a sac, but he was a baby to me for 8 weeks and I loved him. B will hear about it when he's an adult and can understand.

It was insensitive of your dh. Mine does the same and once told me he just didn't feel emotionally attached.

Zyla I didn't know there was a tooth order. My friends babies have got them in different orders - top or bottom. Still no teeth here. Red hot cheek every night so I give calpol but I check each morning.

B slept so well last night! Still not wonderful by sleeping through standards but much better than nights before. Woke up 12:30, 3:30 then was wide awake and had poo. Dh rocked him to sleep and he slept another 45 mins. He's now asleep on me because at least then I get a break. But dh is snoring like a train next to me and I want to smother him with a pillow!

Starting new post coz that was long!

Been having a nightmare at home with the mould. Tumble dryer arrived Friday and I've washed all of my clothes as they were in the mouldy wardrobe. It's taken 2 days of w/m and t/d constantly going but I'm finally done!

B went into his own room on Saturday. Sleeps better there so I definitely think we were waking him up. Absolute pain having to get up and go in there at night though!

What can anyone suggest about the waking wide awake at 4am? Should we cut down his day sleep? He has 4 naps still - 9, 11 ish, 1 ish them later afternoon, bedtime is 7.

We've bought all the fruit and veg to start purée making fr weaning. Going to do mixture of BLw and purée. What were the first finger foods any of you doing BLW offered? I think we will do cucumber

Every 20 minutes JC?! Ouch! Hope you got some sleep in the end.

Glad that B is sleeping a little bit more La, hopefully that will just increase now he is in his own room.

Jcandy · 11/01/2016 06:37

Just got am hour but now she's wide awake! Can see this being a pyjama day!

LaLaLaaaa · 11/01/2016 06:37

Wow purple that's a lot if purée! Yeah at the start they most likely take tiny amount or spit it out which is why ice cube trays are handy but it's not an issue to have done bigger portions! Just means more waste that's all. I'm about to start cooking today.

JC I didn't bother tracking but only because I was too knackered and kept forgetting to fill it in! I did the hair band on each wrist thing to remind me which boob but I kept getting confused with that too because i would put the one in my hair on wrist and end up with one on each!

Zyla the diagnosis is shit and we are here for you. Please do keep talking to us xx

Im dying to start sing and sign! We are doing it next term. We do Little Notes and swimming this term.

Going for coffee with single white female lady today. I am going to play a game with myself of trying not to answer her questions about what we are doing and deflecting it to her. She's very nice as I said but just gets a bit much.

Ga my best mate used to drive her mum spare. She had to do a load of OCD things while getting ready and was always late. I used to have to say night to all my dead pets before I went to bed. I had loads! Mum would get so annoyed!

Sock ons dulcet! Or pull them up over end of his trousers, that's what I do. B has started taking them off and putting them in his mouth!

I can't seem to be able to cut his toenails without there then being a little infected sore bit at the edge of the nail. Does this happen to any of you? I cut them straight across. :( I'm putting sudacreme on is thT good enough?

I do wonder if the night waking is a bit to do with his eczema. It's behind his knees and he uses the other foot to scratch it. I put cream on before bed but he still does it.

Sorry for epic catch ups! Not had time for ages

Hair loss - oh my god it's horrific! How do I still have hair I've shed a whole yeti? Plug in bath gets blocked by it once a week. We are keeping Mr Muscle in business.

Ga one more time can you give me uses for zoflora please? I love it and we have it in Hoover and I do kitchen floor with it. What else can I do I'm addicted!?!

JC it sounds like she's not going into deep enough sleep before you put her down? Can you rock her for bit longer? Although B is like this during day so perhaps she's still got her night and day wrong way round still? Takes a while until they stop being so nocturnal. Good luck for being at home alone, you'll be fine. I get to get out once a day for coffee or a baby group.

la DD has back of the knee eczema. Aveeno is what they prescribe these days only the bastard Drs didn't give me a prescription but told me to just go and buy it from Tesco's. Its about £6 a million quid a tube but free with a script. Cunts.

Jcandy · 11/01/2016 06:50

la good effort on the washing! I love my tumble dryer! Also glad that B has slept better and that him being in his own room is going so well Smile

LaLaLaaaa · 11/01/2016 06:52

I've got aveeno but it's not fixing it. Perhaps need to slap it on more often - will try. Skin is really sore looking and I feel bad using sling when it's like that

OP posts:
gaggiagirl · 11/01/2016 06:53

la zoflora: In the water of steam mop. Capful in softener drawer of washing machine with particularly mucky loads. To damp dust with. The clean radiators. Down plug holes. In the toilet. To wipe over surfaces that have been weed or vommed on.

gaggiagirl · 11/01/2016 06:55

I aveeno the children at every opportunity. Its really worked for DD not worked so well for the boy though.

LaLaLaaaa · 11/01/2016 07:31

I'm going to start doing it every nappy change I think. Hopefully that'll do it!

Hair loss...I could make a wig each time I wash my hair!

Sore bit on the toenail I was wondering the same thing. Doesn't seem to bother him though

ZylaB · 11/01/2016 08:18

Sock ons are amazing, but they don't seem to make them for over 12 months! What am I going to dooooooo? Just a few weeks until she's one, and I can tell she's getting ready to out into the new age range, but they last 6 months so will be huge on her haha. Does anyone else get the urge to start using the new clothes, just for a change? :)

Hobbit19 · 11/01/2016 08:40

La the only thing that clears my eczema is hydrocortisone cream. You have to get it on prescription though and I don't know if they will prescribe it to babies?!

JC, I read that in order to set up babies body clock you need to expose them to early morning light. I presume this means taking then for a walk or something but we just sit in bed with the curtains open. Grin Not sure whether there is any truth behind that though!.

DulcetMoans · 11/01/2016 08:46

I will have to explore these sock ons! I think I have seen them in other babies. Socks are most often in mouth now la, it's an impressive ability to not have them on his feet if I turn my back for a second! I'm still biting his nails off so not got advice for the clipping issue! Oh, and we go back to sing and sign today - can't wait! Miss classes when they stop now as gets lonely. I really recommend baby sign - I know we debated it on FB recently but J can ask for milk and recognises bath and nappy. It helps us all!

I support your PJ day JC! Do you have any box sets you can binge on during feeds?

I might be wrong but can you put zoflora in the iron too ga?

I'm staring at the pile of 6-9 mnths cloths from Christmas zyla, but also want to get a good use out of the 3-6! I really struggle phasing them in and out as get confused with things in and out of the wash!

I get so thirsty in the night too. Doctor already told me I don't drink enough and feeding just makes that worse - she said you need to replace the fluids lost during a feed but who knows how much that is!

DulcetMoans · 11/01/2016 09:02

The cats have done a shit on the floor AGAIN!! Why?! I deal with enough shit in a day - that's two this morning now!

ZylaB · 11/01/2016 09:15

dulcet I just change them all over in one go! And it's about an extra litre of fluids a day, when they get feeding established and before weaning :)

purplewhale · 11/01/2016 09:24

We've just switched to 6-9m clothes at 4 months! I think La switched even sooner.

We need bigger sock ons too.

I don't know about baby signing, it seems like a good idea

RPopz · 11/01/2016 11:26

Yes to duvet day jc! Good luck on your first day without DH. Stealthy sleep transfers were never very successful here either! Fingers crossed you can get some naps in today.

I read somewhere recently that babies don't start to develop a circadian rhythm until about 8 weeks... You don't necessarily need to "teach" them the difference between day and night. But we've always changed minipopz for bed and tried to keep things dark and quiet for bedtime.

Aveeno is good but you need hydrocortisone to clear up the initial flare up. Then use aveeno or your barrier cream of choice to keep the area moisturised and prevent it coming back. I used to apply mine every 2 hours or so.... It's a big commitment but it works.

GAP socks are good for staying on! Not tried sock ons, but heard good things.

Not going to be taking ttc too seriously this time! Minipopz is still quite hard work!

I don't remember losing much hair post partum. It was quite long back then though and so used to come out a lot in the shower anyway! My Mum swears by that caffeine shampoo for hair loss - she lost a lot of hair due to her transplant drugs.

Keep meaning to get some zoflora - our Hoover stinks!! MrPopz has broken our steam mop the stupid arse!!! Angry

RPopz · 11/01/2016 11:30

Attention seeking cats Dulcet!?

We start Sing and Sign again this week.. we've already done a term. I think he enjoyed it but it's hard to tell as he never bloody sits still!! He can sign "finished" but that's it so far.

Pisghetti · 11/01/2016 13:20

Oh god the hair loss...... It's stopped now! Can't say exactly when that happened I just recently noticed I didn't have handfuls of hair after washing it any more. I tend to phase new clothes in for a couple of weeks and then have a big clear out of the old stuff. I bought a couple more of those zip up storage bags from IKEA as I thought I had one or two things to go away. Nearly filled the whole bag! She's in 9-12m tops and a mixture of 6-9 and 9-12m trousers. Short arse.

A friend on FB shared a humorous link titled something like '13 things that will happen when you return to work after maternity leave' and it reads like a summary of my week. This morning I had to make a judgement call on whether to go to work or stay at home, have that conversation with my (new) boss and make a doctor's appointment as her eyes still looked a bit sore this morning. Decided that they're always worse in the morning and sent her to nursery - if they get worse they'll call me. I used to have to do the same with DS if he felt ill in the morning - no vomit = go to school. Nine time out of ten he'd be fine but that one time would always make me feel awful. When you say you need to sort out a job La do you mean you're not planning to go back to your old job?

RPopz · 11/01/2016 16:59

Oooh, yes La, - I was going to ask that too?

Hobbit19 · 11/01/2016 19:49

So, you know how drinking wine when breast feeding is considered okay in small amounts, but not when babies are tiny... when do they stop being tiny enough for wine? Grin Quite happy to wait but would like to have a time to aim for/look foward to! I had a sip the other night when I had a meltdown but I am really looking forward to a glass of prosecco to celebrate the arrival of P!

Okay, I have a second question. Please don't hate me Viroids, and this will probably come back to bit me in the ass but... is it a concern when a baby sleeps too much? (SORRY!) . P wakes for feeds and then normally has a couple of hours a day when she is awake/alert and we can 'play'. But today she has only had one 'play' hour. She is waking for feeds every 3 hours (or more) but then just goes back to sleep. She will cry when we change her (normal for P) and is feeding, weeing and pooing just fine. Am I worrying unnecessarily? Have MW tomorrow so can ask then too. She is not lethargic, just sleepy. Bet she stays awake all night now
