I think take it up with HR fleur as it's an entitlement relating to your contract of employment. You should absolutely still get whatever benefits you're entitled to, unless it's written in contract that it doesn't stand during maternity. Even not inviting you to Christmas do (popz!) is potentially breaking rules of maternity. You are meant to still be included. I received an apology from my boss for being left out of work secret Santa because it could be seen as me being excluded!

B has another cold but last night slept 7-3:30! Pity I didn't because I kept waking to see why he wasn't awake yet!!!! Confused daft bint. Unfortunately when he woke up he was pretty sniffly so I held him for the rest of the night because he couldn't breathe well on his back. Have sucked it all out this morning with the aspirator - oh the glamour of our lives! Smile

My Not so 'D' F is on his way to see us. He's not seem B since he was 2 weeks old, which was the day B got an infection and had to be admitted to hospital. So let's hope today is a more successful visit!

Just thinking about weaning and I'm dreading the mess! I hate mess with a passion! Our house is tiddly so with 2 adults a baby and 2 cats it's a bit nuts and crowded.

Pixie it doesn't sound as bad as you were suspecting it would be, but how annoying of STs mum to spoil it with a silly comment! My mil says silly things like that and I'm sure she just says things for sake of saying something and it just comes out wrong! Rubs me right up the wrong way she does!

Fleur I'm so glad you had a lovely night!!!

Fleurchamp · 19/12/2015 10:03

I share the weaning dread la plus we are having a new kitchen installed in January (great timing) but it's really necessary as we have cupboard doors hanging off and our oven doesn't work properly. The previous owner installed the kitchen himself and did it in the weirdest way which means that to get the oven out we have to take off the worktop Confused

Dreading it.

RPopz · 19/12/2015 10:50

I'd be peed off by that comment too fleur!! Shock At least it's done and dusted now and you can concentrate on having a nice Christmas with the littles.

Definitely ask for it fleur!! Especially as you helped out with that project when you didn't have to.... You're entitled to it. Hopefully just an oversight and they'll be mortified you were forgotten.

Weaning's not so bad to begin with. Just don't get stressed about doing three meals a day straight away or it'll take over your life! Its just a bit of fun for the first few months. The mess is not great though, especially if you do BLW. Recommend bibs with sleeves and plastic sheets for the floor!

Me and minipopz are going to a Daisy Christmas Party today Xmas Grin MrP is out all day and night at work and then at his Christmas do. He asked me this morning it I wanted him back by a specific time so I'm guessing he's planning a late one!!

RPopz · 19/12/2015 10:51

I meant pixie in that first paragraph obvs!!

purplewhale · 19/12/2015 15:00

Fleur I'd just ask if there'd been a mistake with payroll as you'd not got your bonus.

Pixie can you ask her about it. I think she needs to know that ST tells you what she says behind your back. Just wondering why you found it stressful type comment maybe?

B is full of cold and has been asleep on me for 3 hours. He wakes when I put him down, so all I can do is watch tv and have DH bring me things.
I seem to be over the cold, still have the cough. I've felt sick since Wed and after an incident earlier, no longer dare fart!

RPopz · 19/12/2015 17:54

I've been feeling sick for days too purple - it's rubbish. I'd think I might be pregnant except you have to have sex for that to happen!!

Just speed eaten a bag of doughnuts from the Christmas market which probably hasn't helped....

purplewhale · 19/12/2015 18:47

I haven't felt this nauseous since I was pregnant! It's the other end that's the bigger problem. I actually feel better this evening and want to eat for the first time in days. Have ordered chicken and sweet corn soup and special fried rice from takeaway.

I'm so disorganised this year. I still haven't posted all the cards. I haven't distributed the hand delivered ones, not even the neighbours! I have wrapped nothing too!

Pisghetti · 19/12/2015 21:58

Evening viroids. I'm stuck in the bedroom trying to persuade BabyPis to go to sleep while my dinner is going cold Angry MrPis and I were having a cuddle this morning when she performed a perfect Fosbury flop out of the cot and onto the bed. Talk about coitus interruptus...... So he decided we had to lower the cot base but didn't get a chance until bedtime and then it turned out to be quite a complicated job so she's overexcited at being up late..... Oh wait.... We have snoring. Dinnertime!

LaLaLaaaa · 20/12/2015 00:05

Sorry for poorly vih-roids Grin and babies. Mine has done 7 poos today so his bum is red raw and he has a cold and cough. Currently holding him to sleep

Hope you get your dinner pis!

Popz poas! Sorry force of habit!

I know you lot all use nothing on bums. I tried that yesterday and in 2 hours he had nappy rash! I swear this kid has ridiculously sensitive skin!

Pisghetti · 20/12/2015 00:35

I use a hairdryer on her bottom - seems to work quite well at keeping the rash at bay. We started out using a muslin to dry her bottom but it is weirdly difficult to keep the arse and mouth muslins separate! So hairdryer it is unless she looks a bit pink then the sudocreme goes on as well and when she has an acid poo nothing in the world could stop her blistering Sad

Boo to crappy employers. I was supposed to contact my new boss after our meeting but have kept putting it off and we're now six weeks down the line and I still haven't done it! Way to make a good impression.... You should definitely bring it up Fleur - not only is it a contractual benefit but you were actually working for the first half of the year and have done work since being on leave so you are more than entitled to it!

LaLaLaaaa · 20/12/2015 09:00

Been up with poorly boy - if it's not his bum it's his nose being blocked. Poor sausage. His bums looking better though - I stopped using 'a thin layer' of metanium and started troweling it on! Seems to be working.

Dh used to hairdryer B but I made him stop coz it was giving him a dry heat rash on his bits. I think this baby just has mega sensitive skin! Right now he has rash on face and neck from dribble, eczema on tummy and legs, sore bits behind his knees, a sore patch on his ankle, a sore sucky blister on his finger that I've had to cover with a plaster and nappy rash. I use so much cream!

purplewhale · 20/12/2015 11:58

Laughing at the coitus interruptus Pis Grin

Poor B La that's a lot of skin complaints. Hope he grows out of them.
We use metanium at the first sign of redness. We had a high temp early this morning, not convinced the thermometer is accurate, it's one of those no touch ones and it varies with distance! Anyway we stripped him off and gave him calpol and it came right down. Within an hour he was back to normal. He's fairly grotty again today. Yesterday he was my Velcro baby, today it's Daddy's turn. I need to get cards and wrapping done!

Question about hair loss, I didn't shed through pregnancy until he was 8 weeks old. 6 weeks later and I'm still losing tons. Is this normal? Fortunately I have thick hair and can stand it but I'm starting to get concerned

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 20/12/2015 12:34

Purple I'm by no means an expert but my hair started to fall out at about 10 weeks and is still coming out in handfuls at 16 weeks. It's slightly alarming. Like you I have plenty but I can't carry on at this rate!

kbb23 · 20/12/2015 13:26

la have u tried e45 my ds has eczema on his neck and head and e45 cleared it up in a few days it still looks a tiny bit red but is no longer dry and raw

RPopz · 20/12/2015 13:49

Amazingly minipopz has never had nappy rash! But I've heard metanium is the absolute shiz, so carry on with that if it's working La. Hope B is a little better today. I have really sensitive and eczema prone skin but mini doesn't weirdly.

Coitus interruptus! Grin

Feeling any better today purple?

Mr P is being a fucking useless disorganized twunt yet again. Lunch with the in laws shortly. Should be hilarious Hmm

RPopz · 20/12/2015 13:50

My Mum swears by Alpecin caffeine shampoo for hair loss btw. She lost loads of hair because of the drugs she had to take after her transplant.

Fleurchamp · 20/12/2015 14:26

I use sudocreme at every change and metanium if his bum is looking a bit sore.

He pooed at me today - took his nappy off and he pooed with such force it shot across the room. Fortunately it only went on my hand Shock

Hair loss still happening here - DS is 5 months. Not as bad as a few weeks ago but my hair is obviously thinner especially around my hairline. I can't tie it back as there are bald patches Sad

Plus my new hair is coming through grey! Joy!

purplewhale · 20/12/2015 15:25

Oops Fleur we've had pooing with nappy off a few times but not projectile. He's got a bad habit of weeing when the air hits his willy. Might start using the pee pee teepees Grinespecially as it's gone over his head a few times or on his face!

I'm feeling less sick today but still having toilet emergencies, thanks for asking Smile

Hair loss is noticeable to me because I hadn't shed for ages. DH hadn't noticed, so maybe it's not that bad

cookielove · 20/12/2015 20:23

Hello all :)

Not much to report here, except E ate actual chicken in finger food form! Tis amazing!!

cookielove · 20/12/2015 20:26

We use sudo if E has a red bum and metanium if it is red raw. I hear bepantham is good for everyday use but we have never used it :)

My hair never changed just thick wavy hair!

DulcetMoans · 20/12/2015 21:36

Get onto HR fleur, maybe just pitch it as 'is there a problem?'. The boss sounds nice but choosing to do that shouldn't impact your bonus.

Yay for chicken cookie! Think that could mean some Christmas Day turkey is on the cards?

Poor B la! When we ended up in hospital with the rash in the early weeks the doctor said some babies skin takes longer to adjust to the outside world then others. Hopefully it's just that and he's adapting.

How was lunch popz?

Hope you got dinner a bit earlier today pis! I barely ever get mine before 9 lately, I hate it.

DH woke up with us at 7am and was instantly sick this morning. Has then spent the day being poorly - apparently he passed out a bit when I was out earlier. He's never I'll do a bit worrying. Selfishly hoping its food poisoning so me and the baby don't get it.

Jcandy · 20/12/2015 23:48

Hi everyone Smile I'm awake (after not having properly slept since Thursday night) so pretty and my brand new little girl just wants to be attached to me. It's very sweet but her latch is crap and it doesn't really seem like she's properly feeding. Anyway I knew that you lot would understand and thought I'd better come and say hello now that I've officially been a mummy for almost 24 hours Grin

DulcetMoans · 21/12/2015 06:53

Hey jc! Come on in! Have you got plenty of BFing help at the hospital? She will probably stay attached to you for a good few days yet. Hope you get some sleep soon!

LaLaLaaaa · 21/12/2015 07:29

Yay JC!!! Welcome! Yeah she'll probably be like that for some weeks to come! Enjoy the snuggles because all too soon they get big and want to be squirming and looking around rather than peacefully nursing.

If latch is crap have they checked for tongue tie? B had a little one that only one nurse spotted and it was snipped while we were still in hospital.

I hope you're ok?

LaLaLaaaa · 21/12/2015 07:31

My hair is still falling out in massive clumps! I'm like a yeti

Poor B still full of cold. Lost count of his cold tally since birth, he's averaging one a fortnight though. Poor monkey is coughing.

My DM arrives today - hooray!!
