Hello ladies! Mugabe nights sounds like my kind of place!

Sorry to all suffering with colds etc.

Went out to a wine tasting with DH last night. Oz Clarke was hosting it - was fab! Missed DS but was nice to have a night out with DH.

Dozy I bought a purple pram and I love it! Purple is I think quite a unisex colour - we all love purple chez magrats.

Have good weekends all! DH is buying pumpkins tonight and we have all the decorations for tomorrow!

FattyNinjaOwlBecameAZombie · 30/10/2015 13:11

Nathan is still a hungry monkey today. I'm thinking growth spurt... Which means new clothes will be needed soon. He is outgrowing his 3-6 stuff, even for the stuff from sainsbos which is bigger.

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 30/10/2015 13:11

Just a quick reply as off to supermarket - got home late last night and there is nothing edible in the house. Bad planning Sad

joskar I feel your pain. I can't deal with the day starting before 6am, it's just not natural. The gro clock worked for us in the end. As did making it a button on her reward chart. She still gets up but the deal is that she stays in her room quietly until the sun on the clock gets up. It's a good compromise.

mzzzf the cloth bum means grumpy 2 wears a lot more two piece outfits so she can have a larger size on the bottom than on the top. Having said that her 0-3 onesies do up just fine over the nappy. I find it weird when she is in a disposable now - I realise how much I use the nappy for purchase when holding her!

Nope no soaking. Just a mesh bag inside bucket and then empty mesh bag straight into washing machine and wash with nappies. I push the nappies out of the mesh bag into the drum. Check out the nappy lady's videos on how to wash. That helped me a lot.

mzzzf · 30/10/2015 14:22

So this happened with ACTUAL buenos! Fuuuuck but YUM! Halloween Grin

I have had friends over. They bought and left this cake. Dh won't eat it, so I am solely responsible for what's left Grin

Hey ladies,

So we had 12 week jabs this morning and ds has been in a lovely mood ever since. Sleep, feed, play, feed, sleep.

DD on the other hand is driving me mad. She sounds like yours Joskar in that she wants things her own way and strops if she can't. She told me off earlier for playing wrong when I don't even know what we were playing! She hasn't napped today either and I was banking on sleeping when she did...boo!

V impressed with all you cloth bum mums. I haven't ever tried to be honest. I hate the thought of all the washing.

Our friends usually have a Halloween party too but aren't this year. I have some sweets in for trick or treaters though as we live on an estate with loads of kids. Will also take the kids to the neighbours in their costumes.

Re early risers - my DD is a 7.30/8 sleeper which is amazing whereas DS seems to think the day starts at 5.30 and never settles after that feed. It is driving me mad as I am an insomniac too but usually get my best sleep between 5-8.

I need slave large cocktail and some glacé cherries at Mugabe Nights later I think and pour me an apple sourz too!

sianihedgehog · 30/10/2015 17:04

Frolic he looks like he's about to drop the sickest album of 2015!

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 30/10/2015 17:42

Big up for the Mugabe nights massive! Mine's an aftershock with a WKD chaser Grin.

frolic does baby frolic fancy DJ'ing for us? I reckon he'd be super cool! No nappy soaking here either, I just stick a couple of drops of tea tree in the bottom of the bucket to combat the whiffs. I do rinse the poo off in the toilet (I use fleece liners instead of paper ones) so those nappies get stored damp which helps to combat staining. I wash every other day so it's not too arduous.

nolonger, cor, joskar supporting the older DC is so challenging isn't it? It was lovely spending time with our friends this week who have the same age gap between their two DDs. We all felt reassured by the fact that the elder two (both 4yo) seemed to be acting in pretty much the same way. I will be glad when half term is over and Grumpy 1 gets back to school though, whilst it makes her tired it does provide her with time away from grumpy 2 which seems to help a lot!

DH is now building the IKEA furniture, an activity guaranteed to cause as much rage as the shopping experience itself. The dwarfs and I are hiding out downstairs. There is much thumping.

kbro79 · 30/10/2015 17:44

Well after 11 weeks of striaght defeats, team project nap took a much need draw today in kbro land. DS had a 40 minute nap on his cosy, followed by another hour on me. For him that is a massive nap and 40 minutes off me is a big step forward for us. I'll take that.

Siani ha ha ha. Doesn't he!!

Nolonger oh no. 5:30am ouch.

August 2015 - Jaffa cake wars and many Mugabe greetings to you!
Fanby · 30/10/2015 17:46

Oh I've missed loads today! Some incredibly good food there!!! I'm on my way out sans baby, mum is babysitting. My god it feels odd...BUT AMAZING! Am I allowed to admit that? Does that make me a bad mum? DH and I are having a date night in the city and going champagne tasting as part of it. I've barely eaten much today, he's blatantly going to end up holding my hair back... HmmGrin.

So on the subject of cloth nappies-we don't (aldi for us) but I dressed her in these dungarees today, still a little big for her but I couldn't wait any longer as they've been giving me the eye in her drawer. Anyhoo noticed the tag on them said 'cut for cloth' ie they're bigger to accommodate cloth nappies which I thought was awesome even though we're disposable. Think the make is frugi if I remember correctly?

Mugabe one and all, this mumma is getting on it tonight WinkWine x

August 2015 - Jaffa cake wars and many Mugabe greetings to you!
Frolicacid · 30/10/2015 18:10

I think we should get another dj! Ds might look the part but his current fave songs are a Welsh nursery rhyme about the cuckoo and flight of the bumblebee on piano Confused. I think Mugabe nights requires something a bit more funky?
And I reckon he'd bee too grumpy because, after his amazing sleep overnight, he has fought every nap today.

Yay! for a happy baby after jabs nolonger. Long may it continue.

I could drink a WKD slow, not had one for years. Or maybe even add a shot of port to make it a cheeky vimto Grin
I am a total weirdo in that I love building flat pack furniture. Dh does too. We have even had races to build stuff in the past.

Good job on project nap kbro. He looks super cozy in there.
I'm going to have to start project 'nap in the day without going out in the pram' I think. The dog is in hospital today so I thought we could stay in, but ds really struggles to stay asleep without a walking start to his nap.

Enjoy yourself tonight fanby. You should have at least a glass of champagne for each of us. Appreciating time off doesn't make you a bad mum in any way.
Those dungarees are fab - but I feel I must warn you that posh frugi clothes are proving to be poonami starters chez frolic. Be careful!

Shall I pour the first shots at Mugabe nights? Who's for sourz and who's for aftershocks?

Dozygirl · 30/10/2015 18:30

Fanby that outfit I'd amazing and I think I NEED to get one because piper is in cloth hahaha. Dresses fit and tights are fine over cloth bums but trousers are difficult.

washing cloth nappies really isn't as bad as u think and I hate laundry with a passion. Someone told me the same and i didn't believe them.

Slow I tried to flush poop down the loo the first poo that she did but it was all over the nappy so didn't work and just ended up soaking wet and I hadn't thought it through so forgot to bring the bucket with me. I was stood over the toilet for ages thinking what shall I do with this dripping wet nappy with poo all over it haha. I have fleece liners too but the poo goes past the fleece liner and all over the rest of the nappy. She stores it all up though.

Lilydreams · 30/10/2015 18:57

Wow those pics of yummy goodies make me feel better- I went for coffee with my mate and her baby today and we somehow also had a panini and an iced bun and second cuppa in a second cafe! Coffee turned into 4 hours of chatting and eating! Haha! Diet out the window again, and DH is on leave next week and it's my birthday so won't be back in it any time soon! Oops!

Fanby- enjoy your evening! Don't feel bad for it feel good- I'm hoping I feel like that next weekend when we leave DS for the first time for my birthday! Eek!

All this talk of cloth nappies makes me feel very lazy and planet wrecking but I'll be honest there is no way on earth I could deal with using them! Partly I'm far too lazy and partly DS's poos are literally like toxic waste, the smell is horrendous, I think it's the comfort milk! I literally take them straight out to the outside bin as they stink the whole house otherwise! Confession: I sometimes leave wee nappies in nappy bags by the front door till a pile had accumulated before taking them to the bin en masse! Blush

Bought a handprint set today- only paints and 2 canvas' but bargainio at £3 in home bargains! Need to get them done before DS gets too big!

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 30/10/2015 19:25

Ha ha dozy I have done the same thing! We never remember to take the nappy bucket with us so to avoid dripping poo juice all over the landing I leave a washing up bowl next to the toilet ready to dump the nappy in. Confuses the hell out of visitors!

Clstow · 30/10/2015 20:19

Lily I do that with the nappy bags too! Let them pile up then OH normally takes the lot out to the bin Halloween Blush

Have a fab time Fanby, I think it's totally normal to feel great about having a night off, definitely have several champagnes for the Mugabe crew.

Think I better have an apple sourz Frolic, not sure I could handle Aftershock these days. Urgh that stuff was sooo sticky. Bleurgh.

Massive high five for project nap success Kbro. Glad it's finally going your way. I also had a small win as I got DS to nap in the pushchair not once, not twice, but three whole times! I've figured out that if he can see whats happening around him he just gets far too excited to sleep but if I cover his eyes I get 2 mins of grizzles then sleep! Does mean my poor baby has a muslin covering the top half of his head at times bless him, now I just need to figure out how to stop him waking up after 25 mins Halloween Hmm

Hope the furniture is looking good Slow, my OH gets so mad during DIY I've been known to leave... For the weekend!

Glad your DS isn't suffering after the jabs Nolonger.

Catch you all at the bar later ladies, I'm up for a boogie seeing as it's a Friday night.

FattyNinjaOwlBecameAZombie · 30/10/2015 20:20

This stuff is awesome as a shot, or with lemonade and pure apple juice. It's freakin awesome.

Nathan is still constantly feeding. My shoulders wreck from having him in my arms constantly.

GiraffesCanDance1 · 30/10/2015 20:58

Evening all,

I'd like a large vodka lime and soda please, then same with sugar free red bull to get ready for the dance floor Grin

I was a really bad mum today...I went to a playgroup with dd1 and baby dd and managed to tip baby out of her car seat onto the floor whilst we were there Sad she didn't seem too bothered but I feel terrible about it, I hadn't strapped her in as I'd been rushing to get dd1 set up with painting. Then as the day progressed I got more and more grumpy with dd1 who was really attention seeking. I feel exhausted, hope tomorrow is a better day!

mzzzf · 30/10/2015 22:06

Oh fanby I'm jealous! Sink a few
Glasses on our behalf!!

Giraffes - poor DD! And poor you for ensuring a loooooong day! Tomorrow will be better!

Fatty I hope you're not in too much achey pain from your shoulders... But if he keeps eating/growing at this rate he'll be using cutlery soon anyway!!

I'm pulling up my barstool in mugabe nights as for the 2nd night in a row mini mzzzf has had a meltdown and needed a quiet dark room. Hence I'm writing this from the dark bedroom whilst dh is downstairs enjoying the sofa and s drink (the bastard!). Now do you wise mugabians think this is because she's a snot bag and a bit ratty or is she wanting to move her 'bedtime' earlier now. She's days away from being 3 months so maybe she is regulating her own sleep patterns better...

Barkeep (who is Daniel Craig or Big Jim Hamilton - can't make my mind up!) I'll have a pint of g&t with a Merlot chaser Halloween Grin

P.S. A third, yup count 'em, Bueno may have been harmed this evening!!!

OP posts:
nolongerwaitingfornumber2 · 30/10/2015 23:57

Queuing up outside Mugabe Nights already Augmums. I'll join you you Fatty in a toffee apple sourz and can I get a Moscow mule lined up too please?

Giraffes, don't feel guilty. We have all done much worse! I totally get that grump with the eldest too and then feel guilty once she is in bed that I haven't been nicer to her. Mine hit me today because I wouldn't let her have a yoghurt before her dinner but after 2 mins in the naughty corner she was being the sweetest big sister as DS was crying and I felt so mean!

Nice work with the nap Kbro.

How's the furniture Slow? We're converting DD's cot into a bed tomorrow. I predict rows and tears!

Looking forward to seeing a few of you on the dance floor later!

nolongerwaitingfornumber2 · 31/10/2015 00:00

Oh and Fanby, hope you had an amazing time!

Mzzzf, sorry you are stuck in the dark. Hope your night goes more smoothly.

Joskar · 31/10/2015 01:19

Hell. Dd1 will be awake in 4 1/2 hrs. Dd2 just down. Has been awake all evening! Arse.

Also have to go to the Halloween party in the local hall tomorrow afternoon. Not good on no sleep.

Am reading Laura Markham's Calm Parents, Happy Siblings. Is good. Lots of good strategies.

Make mine a double!

GiraffesCanDance1 · 31/10/2015 01:28

I'm ordering some shots all round at Mugabe nights!

No longer the guilt is awful isn't it?! I can't wait for when we get more sleep and are able to be more patient. I reckon all children with siblings have experienced grumpy mums and it probably helps make them more independent.

Joskar ouch! Hope you're getting some decent kip now!

Mzzf good luck!

I'm on my second waking of the night. Dd seems very windy and is getting bothered by green poo again, I had a gro bag disaster on the changing mat so she's in a clean baby gro and blankets Hmm I thought the days of explosive poo were behind us...

Good luck all!
