Ps Molly's sleep has also gone to whack and she's going to be a cat for Halloween we have our NCT reunion on Saturday which should be lovely even though I see the girls and babies every week lol

nolongerwaitingfornumber2 · 30/10/2015 05:32

I don't think 5.30 is too early for gin when ds clearly thinks the day starts here.

sianihedgehog · 30/10/2015 05:51

Fanby I tried to find a good cat outfit for Fergus and couldn't! Fergus is going to be a stormtrooper for Halloween because he's outgrown his bat costume. It's my friend's baby's first birthday party on Saturday, so we're all off to that. I'm hoping we're not the only ones dressed up but suspect we might be!
I've just realised I also need to get some candy and a pumpkin ready to at home, bollocks! Our new neighbourhood is FULL of kids, so hopefully we will get a few trick or treaters.

Frolicacid · 30/10/2015 05:55

Errm, ds slept 10:30-5:45!!!!!!!! Oh my god, I'm so happy right now. My boobs woke me up before he did! I don't care if it doesn't happen again for ages, it was bloody lovely. I actually slept long enough to dream Smile.

Sorry for all of you who've had shit sleeps. If my little boob monster can do it, then there is hope for us all!

I love Mugabe nights. Can we have those dreadful free shots as we come in to get us in the party mood?

Little dude has crashed out on my boob. Going to attempt to put him back down. Wish me luck?!

Clstow · 30/10/2015 06:16

Good day to everyone frequenting the Mugabe nights bar - make mine some kind of gin fizz. DS is poorly. He's a snot filled, sad little bunny with a baaaad case of man flu. Only had one extra feed in the night but it was an afternoon of tears, MzzF I feel your pain.

Abandoned project nap yesterday after the cold took hold and spent half the day in the sling. Work will recommence post-cold.

Yay for sleep Frolic, bet you feel good for it today. Long may it continue.

It's DS's 12 week birthday today so I can only assume from now everything will get magically easier with him never crying, sleeping for 12 hours a night, self settling for naps, etc. Or does it just get easier at 12 weeks coz you now know to have plenty of cake and wine in the house at all times?! Halloween Grin

Alex will be a skeleton for Halloween, OH and I are going to a grown up scary party (leaving A with my mum) and realised last night we don't have costumes. Did some frantic googling and we're now planning on going as red riding hood and the wolf. Too twee? Suggestions welcome.

Sorry I can't scroll back without losing what I've written and my tiny brain can't remember what else was said but the good news is Friday has arrived... Let's celebrate with cake.

Joskar · 30/10/2015 06:24

The floor show at Mugabe Nights was cancelled last night owing to sleep! Dh rocked her for half hour til 11.30 and I fell asleep. Dd1 woke us at 5.50. Very short feed from dd2 and now she's back asleep again. Good grief! Dd1 was 16 weeks before she slept longer than 90 minutes in a chunk! I can't believe it! Sleep is not a fecking learned behaviour! It's innate. Or developmental perhaps. My two have been so different.

Now to get Dd2 to not wake before six...

sianihedgehog · 30/10/2015 06:30

I've also got this cardigan for Fergus, which I am basically going to dress him in constantly until Halloween is over.

August 2015 - Jaffa cake wars and many Mugabe greetings to you!
Tindel · 30/10/2015 06:37

Morning all! Keep trying to post the past few days then losing it. In short, thanks for reassurance about falling asleep on us. Last few nights have been still quite fraught - J only really settles being cuddled somewhere quiet and dark, so going to bed at 9.30. DH is ill, which makes early bedtimes easier.

Only 2 feeds last night after going to bed, but both took over an hour! Hoping this is the developmental leap and ends soon, as I'm struggling with this. I don't mind having to give lots of cuddles to keep him calm, but staying awake is challenging

Fanby · 30/10/2015 07:06

Siani - love the cardi!!! That is sad news about the fabulous bat costume. The cat outfit was purchased months and months ago by my mum, a mns jobby I believe.
Is now a good time to admit I've never seen Star Wars?
We too are surrounded by kids and I absolutely love Halloween. Haven't bought too many sweets this year as I don't want the doorbell going continuously because we'll be trying to settle molly. Next year I'll be back on form I promise!

Frolic - yes to shots, it has to be something like apple sourz I reckon?!
Well done on the sleep!!! That truly is epic. God knows what was wrong with my boobs last night, went through 3 lots of pads and soaked through my bra...

Clstow - love red riding hood and the wolf! An excellent choice!!! Looking forward to seeing Alex as a skeleton. It'd be lovely is people posted photos!!!
Oh 12 weeks milestone!! Molly is 11wks tomorrow, I'd love it if she would a massive leap in sleep, please oh please!!!

Joskar - excellent sleepy news!! Woohoo!

Tindel - sending you a big mug of steamy tea. I keep telling myself it will get better otherwise people wouldn't do it again xxx

mzzzf · 30/10/2015 07:08

Ahhh I glad babies are starting to properly sleep through. Well I'm 80% happy and 20% pure raging envy! Still I've got my bar stool reserved at Mugabe nights and be bar man knows my regular drink so it's not all bad...

I think mini mzzzf has the beginnings of conjunctivitis - what do you guys think?!

Morning all - another miserable one here - hate doing school run in the rainSad

cor hope DS enjoyed his workshop eventually - it's good for them to be independent and do things on their own.

lily that was a long time with no food - wow - hope it continues for you.

siani great cardi! My toddler has been walking around dressed as a pumpkin all week - we have lots of beautiful witches dresses and cat costumes but she has homed in on the most hideous Halloween costume in the dressing up box - I used to wonder at parents who let their kids go out in public dressed in dressing up stuff but then realised you will do anything to avoid a tantrum so we are now on day 5 of the pumpkin - will be 'losing' it tonight as we are all going to a party tomorrow and want her to wear something niceGrin

mzzzf looks like conjunctivitis to meSad. I just wipe the eye with a cotton wool ball and cooled boiled water from inside to out. It's horrible when they go to sleep though and can't open their little eyes when they get all stuck up. Hopefully it will clear up quickly. My older DD had it a few weeks ago and I took her to pharmacy and they said they are reluctant to treat with medication - prefer to let it clear on its own and to just keep clean with water.

mzzzf · 30/10/2015 07:53

Thanks for that loves! I'm in two minds whether to take her to the GPs for a cold and snotty eyes as it doesn't massively affect her. Still drinking and sleeping and smiling. She's a bit cranky but I've paracetamol at home to help if it's too much.... Wonder if I should just give it the weekend and see on Monday

Frolicacid · 30/10/2015 07:58

Just a quick reply to mzzf. Ds has a sticky eye where his tear duct hasn't opened properly on one side. He wakes like that most days. Gp said that green doesn't necessarily mean infection and that the thing to watch out for is redness around and in the whites of the eye. Obviously check the little lady out if needed, but I thought I'd share. I clean ds' eye every few hours with cooled boiled water or breast milk and we've kept it healthy so far.

Right, back later. I've got to drop frolic dog off for an operation in a bit. The vets is tiny so I will have to use the sling. The dog gets super jumpy and nervous there. This is going to be fun!

Dozygirl · 30/10/2015 08:34

Siani that cardigan is amazing!! Also is Fergus on a star snug blanket thing? I want to buy one but can't decide on colour. I'd that a turquoise one?

Reusables : I went with little lamb because is was 100 quid for a set whereas everything else seemed mega expensive and I found researching which kind a mindfield. Luckily they've work well for us. The only downside for me is the big bum they give. I like how cute and dinky she looks but put her in little lambs and she looses that dinky look. I was dreading the laundry side of it but do u know what, it's really honestly not that bad. I throw the nappies in a bucket (closing the velcro tabs onto each other first so they don't get ruined), then chuck them in the washing machine and they come out clean. I think a few of them might need bleaching in the sun but generally the stains come out. I don't even bother using a disposable liner as it's easier just to chuck the nappy straight into the bucket. They last my dd all night too with no leaks. She does smell of wee by the morning but it's all contained. I add an extra booster between the nappy and the wrap at night which is working well as it doesn't matter about bulkiness at nightime. I like the two part system as I think it more bombproof. Tried someone's all in one tots bot but she leaked out of that straight away.

Dozygirl · 30/10/2015 08:36

I'd like to reserve a seat at mugabe nights for tonight please with good viewing of joskar pvc dance show and extra shots of apple sourz please

GiraffesCanDance1 · 30/10/2015 08:56

Wow I like this Mugabe nights bar, I drank so much I can't remember much other than doing some crazy dancing Blush

Mzzf I'm not sure whether you're bf, but if you are then I was told breast milk is even better for clearing the eyes than cooled boiled water. I don't think GPs like to treat conjunctivitis as it will clear on its own, that's what the nhs website said when my dd had it recently.

I think I may have worked out what was causing my fussy baby yesterday and her green poos - I had eaten some strong garlic bread the night before and she doesn't like the taste in the bm...she's much better today, so hopefully the garlic is wearing off!

I'm planning to take dc to a playgroup this morning with bouncy castle et al, but is anyone else paranoid about their baby catching coughs and colds? My last dc was born in a February which was much easier as most of their early months were spring/summer, this time there are months of winter to get through...

Good luck with last day before the weekend, hooray!

sianihedgehog · 30/10/2015 09:18

Dozy yes, he is, and it is the turquoise! I absolutely LOVE our starsnug, cannot recommend it highly enough. Fergus loves being all wrapped up warm in it, and it's gorgeously soft against his skin and really nice and unrestrictive. I can get him into it without feeling like I'm wrestling an angry octopus, and I can even get him untucked from it without him waking if I'm careful. Also it looks insanely cute. I'll be buying a bigger one as soon as he outgrows it.

loveandsmiles I would wear dressing up clothes out myself if I could get away with it, Fergus is definitely going to be one of those kids!!

Joskar · 30/10/2015 09:26

What a morning! Dd1 has been brutal. Anyone got tips on how to get her to sleep longer? There's something about being up for the day before six that just makes me so exhausted. If only she would go to 6.30 or 7. Also would be great if she would not have a massive, epic tantrum because she's not allowed to wear her good frock to eat a dippy egg in.

The liners for washables are really for when the poo gets solid. We have quite a lot of washable minky liners which are good although still do the disposable liners mostly with dd2. I quite like the big, fat cloth bum.

Poor wee dd2. She has a permanent cold. Cancelled her hearing appointment this week because I was convinced she would fail again because she's so congested. Going on Monday. Hope she passes. I'm second guessing myself now and thinking she can't hear. Dh is going to come too seeing as it's so far away and dd2 will need looking after. We're going to have lunch out. Maybe Wagamamas or something like that.

Conjunctivitis is usually red, no? I always go to the pharmacist for stuff like that. Dr usually too busy and won't give owt anyway. Mzzf in Scotland we have a scheme at the pharmacy for minor things like that so I would go and ask. Don't think they have it down south. You get liquid paracetamol and so on for free.

Convinced last night was a fluke so I'll away and polish my tassels for tonight.

CorBlimeyTrousers · 30/10/2015 09:34

Could be conjunctivitis mzzf or like Frolic says DS1 had a blocked tear duct when he was a baby and it watered a lot. It opened up as he grew bigger but he was/is always prone to conjunctivitis. Pharmacist won't give you anything for such a young baby so a trip to the GP may be in order if you're concerned.

Yes, DS1 had a great time at the theatre workshop. So I'm glad I made him stay!

DS1 is being quite mean to DS2 - saying mean things (obviously DS2 can't understand but we can!) and being rough/shouting in his face. We've tried giving him little jobs to do (testing the milk and choosing an outfit for DS2) but I think it's jealousy and that we are giving more attention to DS2. It's been hard to deal with this week as it's half term.

mzzzf · 30/10/2015 10:20

Thanks ladies. My gut says it isn't conjunctivitis as no redness or watery eyes. Just gloop!
Rang GPs anyway and they won't see her for suspected conjunctivitis and cold etc. which is fine so I'll nip into the pharmacist today (thanks joskar, still getting used to this foreign country Wink) whilst buying sweets for me Halloween!

The little poppet has been snoozing on me since 7am bless her sleepy snot filled head!

Siani that star snug is lovely!! May have to get one! Do they make adult sizes?! Halloween Grin

Giraffes - I know it's very inappropriate but I massively want some garlic bread now!!

Hmmmm you guys are making me think of getting cloth nappies. I had thought of them before but never followed through (snigger!!) on getting them. Is there any issues with giant cloth bums fitting into clothes etc

OP posts:
Lilydreams · 30/10/2015 10:28

Mzzf- sorry you had a tough night! Love the Mugabe nights bar to drown the tiredness away though! Could be conjunctivitis but if might just be a gungey eye- when DS was only a week or so il one of his eyes went like that and the midwife told us to boil and cool some water (keeping in fridge for up to 24 hours) and then wipe the eye with cotton wool dipped in it (one wipe and throw the cottons wool, no multiple wipes) we did this everytime a bit of gunge appeared and it cleared up within a few days. May just be mini mzzf has got a bit of dirt in there and is trying to clear it.

Love all the Halloween costumes I'll be honest I'm not a fan of Halloween at all unless I'm going to a party or something and as no one is having one this year I'm ignoring it- as I shall be my door if anyone dares knock! That is what will annoy me- every time the door goes the dogs bark and I don't want DS waking all evening!

Frolic- YIPPEEE!! That is an amazing sleep you have definately gone one better than me! DS didn't have a feed again over night but did plenty of murmering so I certainly didn't sleep through was up and down on dummy patrol! Well done you! The odd occasion I've had long stretches of sleep it's very weird to dream again isn't it!

Lilydreams · 30/10/2015 10:29

Wow lots more posts have appeared- just going to feed little monkey I'll be back later

Frolicacid · 30/10/2015 10:58

We survived the vet. It's 1/2 hour drive away and ds was fast asleep when we got there. I took him out and put him in the sling, which is usually a guaranteed sleep for him. But he didn't like it and got a bit upset. As I was talking to the vet he puked all down my front and rubbed his face in it. Lovely! The good thing at the vets it that they are all obviously dog people and not baby people. No one bothered to look at him, so I don't think his sick covered face was noticed!
It feels like quite an achievement to get all that done before 10:30am, so I celebrated with a frivolous take away bacon butty.
Ds is now catching up on all the feeding he didn't do overnight.

I hope Alex feels better soon clstow and that mini jockstar's cold does one.

That cardigan is brilliant siani! I also love your colourful pram. I love bright stuff. Dh often comments that he thinks a unicorn may have vomitted on ds.

I have never seen star wars either fanby! Are we the only two in the world?
Yes to apple sours! And maybe some of that auful aftershock stuff that was so popular in the late 90's!

It's so weird to dream lily! Ds went back to sleep after a quick feed at 5:45 but I was wide awake. I felt really strange, all achey and heave like when you have a cold. It's ok now. I wander if my body was shocked at the long sleep?! It's been so long since I had a good stretch. I do so hope that it wasn't a fluke.

Happy Friday everyone! Looking forward to Mugabe nights tonight Smile

kbro79 · 30/10/2015 12:04

Oh can I have a woo woo please. In one of those giant classes to share just to myself??

Fatty am in the same boat as you (a boat that our babies combined weight is going to start sinking) He is constantly bloody starving. We are getting plenty of wet and dirty nappies so don't think is supply issue. Growth spurt? Development leap?

Girraffe interesting about the garlic bread. DS was, to be blunt, a right PITA to feed yesterday. At first thought was cause we were out and about (got my boob out in Kings cross - my god I've changed) but continued at home and I had garlic bread the night before.

Right Aidan is asleep on me. To project nap or to just enjoy the sleep?? Argggg so hard.

Oh and bed time was a disaster last night. Am wondering about trying a little earlier tonight and see if I can catch him before over tired and over stimulated.

Dozy huge thanks for nappy advice about little lambs. Have just ordered a trial pack.

Dozygirl · 30/10/2015 12:15

Siani I was thinking of going turquoise too. I have petrol blue coloured pram which is a kind of greeny blue colour and think I should get a unisex baby in case I have another baby and it's not a girl but I like the purple coloured ones too. So many colours to choose from, it's a really hard decision to make. What size have u got at the moment? I'm just gonna go straight for medium which might be a bit big but no point getting the small now I reckon.
