Aaaand...she's awake again.

Oh dear lord. I might cry.

mzzzf · 31/10/2015 03:16

Ahhh nolonger, joskar and giraffes hope you've all got your nut down for some zzz's by now.
Mini mzzzf has grumped herself awake then got hugely impatient that her milk is not ready and waiting for her. The downside to reflux milk is having to wait 7 mins for it to 'set' before its drunk. There's a lot of angsty crying and becoming more awake to be had in 7 mins!!

I wonder how long she'll want night feeds for.., either way I can see myself having more early evenings in the dark in my todd. Arrrgh it was so much easier when she slept in the sling all evening!

Giraffes - better the grobag to have taken the hit than the bedding!

Nolonger - maybe the change to a bed will install the big sis status.

Joskar maybe start the day with an alcoholic 'pick me up' then you can go to the Halloween party as a drunk, ta-dah! Two birds, one stone, you're welcome!

Woah, this club is mad at 3:30am. I haven't seen this many bodily fluids since freshers week Grin

Grumpy 2 seems to have settled into having a long sleep for the first part of the night, whatever time she goes down she then sleeps for about 7 hours then wakes for a short feed. Last night she was early to bed at 8pm, hence here we are at Mugabe nights at 3am. I spend most of my evenings in the dark on my tod mzzzf.
(waves across the bar)

The new furniture is built, but the old wardrobe still needs to be re-erected on the landing. And if there is anything worse than building new Ikea furniture, it's rebuilding ikea furniture that's been taken down once... I think I'll take the dwarfs into the big smoke to escape. It looks nice, but I thought DH was going to sell grumpy 1 on eBay when she told him that she liked her old wardrobe better!

Last summer I took grumpy 1 to Aberdeen to visit family to avoid being in the house with DH diy'ing. 6 hours across 2 trains with a 3 year old was more preferable than staying put!

I'm going to download that book joskar thanks for the recommendation.

nolonger and giraffes grumpy 1 is being a proper smart alec at the moment and both DH and I are struggling to deal with it calmly as we are tired ourselves. I know she is only testing us to see what things are / are not acceptable to say but the answer for everything is getting really wearing Hmm. Yesterday evening I came in the living room to find her manipulating grumpy 2s arms and I properly snapped at her asking her what she was doing with her sister. Turns out she was teaching her the actions to a song she's learnt at school and wasn't harming her in any way. I felt like such a dick. But then by bedtime she was having a massive tantrum over DH calling her out being super rude. Aargh! You can't win.

GiraffesCanDance1 · 31/10/2015 04:29

Hi again

Mzzzf thanks for seeing the silver lining! Waiting 7 minutes is harsh on you, does she fall asleep again whilst feeding?

Joskar hope you are asleep now!

Slow wow well done on the new furniture! Your story about your dd and baby is so familiar - mine keeps grabbing baby's hand and gripping it and then moving her arm. It's very hard to tell whether she's being friendly or unkind, usually, like you, I find she's just being a bit rough by mistake as she's trying to dance etc but it's really trying. She will also 'hug' baby or cuddle her too firmly. I think baby should cry if something hurts but I don't really want it to get to that stage, nor do I want dd1 to get even more put out or jealous of baby. It's hard!

sianihedgehog · 31/10/2015 04:56

giraffes we go through three grobags a night over here sometimes, I feel your pain! After having to switch to blankets in the middle of the night a couple of times I just threw money at the problem and got a £30 pack of two from Kiddicare. I've now got FIVE grobags in his current size, counting the hand-me-downs, charity shop finds, Tk Max bargains and those. DS can shit up his back and vomit down his front to his heart's content!

mzzzf · 31/10/2015 07:42

Siani that last sentence is possibly the best I've ever read!! Halloween Grin

Maybe the new slogan for Mugabe Nights!!!!

Happy Halloween augmums Halloween Smile

I'm sorry to see so many of you having crap nights. Someone needs to tell these babies that Mugabe nights is for over 18's only.

Sorry also to all of you struggling with older little ones. It must be so hard to spread yourself evenly. It's probably a tough time for them as half term Exhaustion kicks in, along with the novelty of a new baby wearing off. Flowers for you, you all sound like your doing a fab job.

I'm scared to say it in case I jinx things, but we had another 7 hour stretch overnight. Please can this be the start of something long term?

Yes to letting the nappy bags pile up! We have a seperation collection for them so they can't just go in the normal bin.

We've also bought a hand and footprint thing this week lily. They are already getting so big!

Toffe apple sourz are the way forward on Halloween for sure fatty. I hope Nathan gave you a break from the mammoth feeding last night.

Don't worry giraffes. Baby is fine so you have nothing to worry about. Mumsnet is full of similar stories. I think we decided on the last thread that everyone drops their baby at some point. Now you've got it out of the way.

Fingers crossed that mini mzzf is working towards an earlier bed time. And well done you on the Bueno demolition.

Wwwww, nolonger, I'd totally forgotten about Moscow mules. I used to love them. I wander if you can still get them?

Frolicacid · 31/10/2015 08:10

Pressed post too soon!

Giraffes, we have a load of non gro bag sleeping bags that were handed down. 1/2 the price and just as good if you want to stock up. I think most of them are tesco and have done my sisters 2 girls before getting to us but are still in good condition. I noticed that they also have some cute ones in ikea at the moment.

7 minutes for a bottle is brutal mzzf. That must be hard.
I also love siani's line - definitely a slogan for our classy nights.

Happy Saturday everyone. We're having a quiet one with our poor post op frolicdog. Here she is hoping you all feel Sorry for her.

kbro79 · 31/10/2015 10:33

Mzzzf this is my current theory with DS. Needs an earlier bed time. Last night we started putting him down at 8pm. Didn't go to badly. He finally got into bed at midnight. Arrggggg. Think he'd heard about Mugabe nights and wanted to join the party. On the plus side he finally giggled!!

Fanby I want some dungers from the site bad!! Never heard of them before but so cute!!! Hope you had a fantastic night out. Well deserved.

My sister, hubby and nephew are coming down to visit today. Should be lovely. Nephew is 3 so good insight into what awaits me. Feel for people having tricky time with older children. Must be such hard work! Def treat yourself to round of shots!

So DS pooed so loudly it was that that woke me up in the night rather than crying. Lovely. On the plus side it was much needed. He hates not going everyday and hadnt since thursday. so would have been a grumpy sod today had he not got that out.

Siani so funny.

nolongerwaitingfornumber2 · 31/10/2015 11:38

Happy Halloween Augmums! Hope the Mugabe Nights hangovers aren't too bad. I don't know how you all can post at night. My brain doesn't wake up enough to even turn the light on. If I had to wait 7 mins for a bottle I think I'd cry Mzzzf.

Slow, Joskar & Giraffes, it is reassuring to hear from others in the same boat as all my friends with older kids seem to have impeccably behaved children.

Much as I complain though it is nowhere near as hard as becoming a mum for the first time and all you ladies with your first babies are doing amazing. Someone said what a steep learning curve it is and they are 100% right. Never found anything so hard in my life!

Aww Frolicdog looks so sorry for herself. What a gorgeous animal! I loved Moscow Mules and even remembering them now evokes memories of nights out when I wasn't quite legally allowed to drink!!

Kbro, have a lovely time with your sister and family today.

See you all later for Mugabe Nights round 2 - shutting up your back and puking down your front always welcome Wink

nolongerwaitingfornumber2 · 31/10/2015 11:38

Shitting obviously - autocorrect not a fan of swearing it seems!

Fanby · 31/10/2015 11:45

Looking forward to catching up with everything I missed...DH and I are back in the pub for our NCT reunion, got here early for brunch and the kitchen but kitchen doesn't open until noon - error, fail, loser - need carbs to soak up last nights booze Confused

In the mean time, happy Halloween augmums x

Nathan was up all night, and so was DD thanks to teething. I'm so tired. But Nathan has just slept for 6 hours without a bottle. If he can do it during the day, he can do it at night! Now I just have to convince him of that!
I'm lucky as Nathan drinks his bottles straight from the fridge. So glad I don't have to faff around waiting for it go set, or warm etc.
Will post a pic later once I've got my 3 ready for Halloween.

Dozygirl · 31/10/2015 16:37

I've totally become one of 'those' mothers that does ridiculous things to her child all for a good picture lo .

FattyNinjaOwlBecameAZombie · 31/10/2015 16:42

Oh dozy that's adorable!

Tindel · 31/10/2015 17:13

Wasn't organised enough to get a costume, so relied on a present from colleagues. As he refused to have a nap this afternoon, he really is our little monster today ...

FattyNinjaOwlBecameAZombie · 31/10/2015 17:51

This is my 3. And Nathan on his own.
We have a dinosaur, a witch (who had to be bribed with sweets to sit there!) And Nathan has a ghost on his sleepsuit.

Aww, loving the super cute mini-trick or treaters!

Busy day here today, DH trashing the house whilst I run around behind him trying to restore some order. It's his birthday on November 5th so grumpy 2 and I escaped into town to get him a pressie as well. What is everyone doing for bonfire night? We normally take grumpy 1 to the fireworks, DH loves them and it's his birthday after all, but I can't think that grumpy 2 will like all the noise...

And more excitingly we have had our first proper giggle! Grumpy 1 was kissing her all over her little face and the cooing turned into proper giggles! Lovely Grin

Can't remember who was discussing it but I second Ikea for good, cheap sleeping bags. TK Maxx is excellent as well for bargain price branded gro bags.

How was your night out fanby? What did you do about feeding Molly? I've got to come down to London in a couple of weeks and I'm fretting as to whether or not grumpy 2 will be okay on bottles, I haven't been that disciplined at getting her to take one regularly Hmm. However, the thought of dragging her along with me on the train is too awful for words!

Hope DD1 gave you a lie in joskar

Anyone else sitting on their own in the dark yet?

everythingispeachy · 31/10/2015 20:35

Hi please can I join? I have been lurking for ages but the lure of mugabe nights is too much to resist! I am 33 living in Scotland orgially from Yorkshire. I have d1 who will be 3 in December and ds2 who is 11 weeks. Can't think what else to add just now except there is a standing joke in our house where I say I don't like jaffa cakes so dh buys them thinking he'll get them all to himself only for me to eat the lot! They are alright if there's nothing else just not my 1st choice. Malteasers on the other hand....

Clstow · 31/10/2015 20:39

I'm on my own in the dark Slow! We're at my parents house as we're off to a Halloween party at an old friends so the plan is to put A down, go out, and be back for his first wake up. If he's up before I get back my mum will give him a bottle. Nice to be on my own in the dark in a change of scenery!

Loving the pics guys - Dozy top marks for creativity Grin - DS has been wooing people in his skeleton outfit all day. Such a cutie, but still so much snot... He sounds like a little piglet snuffling away when he feeds!

Hope Frolicdog is feeling better - cute animal pics just as welcome as cute babies.

Mugabe Halloween all, hope it's quiet at the bar tonight, surely the babies will be far too tired from the spooky festivities to keep us Augmums up all night?!

Clstow · 31/10/2015 20:40

Cross posts - welcome everything Smile Give me a Maltese over a Jaffa any day!

GiraffesCanDance1 · 31/10/2015 20:58

Evening all

Sian your post is so funny, your last sentence is a classic, I will definitely invest in some more gro bags. Thanks also Frolic for the tips too. I do love Gro bags and have always bought the branded ones, I'll go out and buy some more either branded or Tesco or Sainsbury had some with 25% off all TU I think so it's a great time to stock up.

Does anyone else's baby only feed for five minutes at a time? I've been getting really anxious about it but apparently it's ok as long as wet and pooey nappies, seems like suddenly at 3 months dd has become really efficient at feeding. She's also decided she doesn't like being held, she'd rather be kicking around in her jungle gym, I bought it second hand for £10 and she seems to live in it, she cries in my arms until I put her in it Confused strange baby, she's loved it for a few weeks now. At least it gives me a chance to cuddle dd1 who actually seems to like me unlike jungle Jane.

Hope everyone's having a good hallowe'en, I'm off to bed and hopefully won't be attending Mugabe nights this evening...maybe save me some champagne on ice in case I join though Grin

sianihedgehog · 31/10/2015 21:38

This is my best buy for grobags - £15 each for branded ones! www.kiddicare.com/p/Grobag_2.5_Tog_Twin_Pack_Spotty_Bear_0-6_months.htm

The unbranded ones in TK Maxx are still £12.99, and the Ikea ones are similar. The only better bargain I found was the one I got in the PDSA charity shop for £1.99. :D

giraffes Fergus isn't mad on being held either. At about 6 weeks he just sort of decided that being held is just for feeding and sleeping. If he's active he'd rather be free to thrash about - his playgym gets called "the thrashing mat" because he just used to lie on it thrashing about and being really happy about it before he started to try to hit the toys or anything. Blush

FattyNinjaOwlBecameAZombie · 31/10/2015 21:40

I won't be attending Mugabe nights tonight! DP is on the night shift

Welcome peach
DD loved trick or treating. Until she came across a house with a man with a mask and smoke when the door opened. She hid in her daddies shoulder after that!
All the little TorTers that came here where saying "aaaaaawwww look mummy/daddy/big brother its a baby!" as Nathan answered the door with me with his big cheesy grin. Halloween Grin

mzzzf · 31/10/2015 21:51

Mini mzzzf rocked the striped tights today!
Currently we're trying out the monitor. She's up there on her own and has been since 8.45pm. Arrrghhh!! Doubt I'll hold out much longer until I join her but it's definitely a first!! Halloween Wink

Loving all the outfits today ladies!

High hopes that Mugabe nights is deserted tonight but I imagine I'll rock up later Halloween Confused
