Add your stats Viroids (or don't bother). I feel like there's something I'm supposed to write here but don't know what it is... Confused

Morning! Am trying to keep up, but failing miserably. Just so busy trying to look after E and working at the same time, plus I've had visitors all week too excuses excuses! Grin

Sorry about the houses popz Sad was it the same thing again?

Yay for good holiday and sleeping through min!

deeply yep, what the others said - you're sort of already in the routine. Once they can understand the difference between night and day it gets a bit easier because at night they tend to go back to sleep straight after feeding mostly

la tricky situation with the friend. I'm always really worried about being "the clingy one" myself and then act all aloof probably come across as rude Grin
Is the ergo good then? Can you put baby outward facing? And back carry? I'm still on the hunt for a good carrier...

So, E is 5 months old today. She's very nearly sitting up by herself! Can't believe how big she's getting. Dh is building her cot bed today - she's outgrown her cradle!

minimooo · 03/10/2015 08:29

Ooops, sorry, I meant toast for the routine comment. Am on phone so can't scroll back!

RPopz · 03/10/2015 11:01

Did you not get on with the woven Dulcet? Connecta? Manduca? Tula? Grin

I think the same rules apply with the sling as with carseats/ pushchairs... You can do about 2 hours and then best to get them out for a feed/ wriggle. I think just be sensible with it though- if they're happily snoozing after 2.5 hours in there then they're probably fine to leave. They'll definitely let you know when they're fed up. Minipopz would stay in the sling a lot longer as a newb than he will now.

You can forward face with the ergo 360 mini but not the original. And back carry with both. Its a comfy carrier but I personally find it a bit cumbersome and I struggle to do/ undo the back strap on my own.

Argh the house. Looked at it on Thurs eve. Fell in love. Vendor was bending over backwards to try and get us to make an offer - really helpful, friendly, good with minip etc.... We said we'd talk it over that eve and get in touch with estate agent Friday morning.... Which we did... House taken off the market an hour earlier. WTAF!?!

purplewhale · 03/10/2015 12:11

Aargh house buying! I sympathise Popz
Selling was the worst bit in my case. I need to send a Jiffy bag to an estate agent not that far from here one day Smile

We had an ok night, managed to get him down a bit earlier. He's having his first bath tonight, I know it's not 4 weeks but he's had too much sick in his hair now Confused
Did anyone else get told not to bath for 4 weeks? My friend who was at a different local hospital wasn't told that, her baby was bathed in hospital.
I'm hoping bath, bottle, bed might work, but then I'll watch TV upstairs and not bring him back down. See if that goes any better.

I still haven't tried a sling, we've not been anywhere that the pram hasn't been ok for yet.

We're going out for our first walk today. I don't quite know what to dress him in though. He's in a body suit and baby gro in the house. I was going to put a thick fleecy cardigan and a thick blanket then he'll be in the pram. I'm scared of overheating him but I don't want him to be cold too. I've got a snowsuit but it's too big.

DulcetMoans · 03/10/2015 13:32

I just found it too faffy popz. Shame as they are really pretty. Maybe when I have developed more of a love. This one is a connecta. Approve? I was going to have something else - mei tei maybe? But it was toddler size. They didn't show me an ergo la, is that similar?

Is E moving into another room then mini? Sitting up only leads to crawling! Grin

I just went for first run post-baby. I am so very unfit now. Disappointing!

Toast85 · 03/10/2015 14:18

purple no we weren't told that, MelbaToast had her first 2 baths in hospital, the nurse suggested we bathe her when she was about a week old I think. We just do a bath twice a week roughly now as it does dry out her skin and top and tail on the other days. We haven't started using any bath products yet just water.
Talking about baths do you use cooled boiled water to wash your baby's face when you top and tail? Or just tap water?
Well done on the run dulcet!

minimooo · 03/10/2015 15:02

Wow, well done on the running dulcet! Don't be disappointed, I'm totally in awe of anyone who has enough energy to exercise with a baby! All I can do is curl up on the couch every evening Shock
E is going to stay in with us for a bit longer. I'm going to try and put the cot bed next to my side of the bed (where the cradle is now) and see if that works. It means I have a gap about this big to get in and out of bed myself though! Grin

Cotbed progress report: Dh has got all the bits of out of the box and laid them all out on the living room floor.....and now he's laying on the couch Hmm something tells me we may not have a fully functioning cot bed by bedtime this evening.

purple nope, we weren't told that and we bathed E quite early on. It soon turned into a bath every evening as part of our bedtime routine and we still do it now. She loves the bath!
A thick blanket should do fine - you can take it off easily if he gets too warm. I'd put a hat on him too if it's a bit chilly (it is here!)

toast we've always used tap water for face washes.

I wish there was a gadget that keeps dummies in place when they're sleeping! E keeps dropping hers as she falls asleep and squeals until I pop it back in. Doing my nut! Takes ages for her to fall asleep properly because of it. Thinking of just taking them away. Anyone else taken dummies away yet? Is it as horrific as I imagine it to be?

RPopz · 03/10/2015 15:49

I could send a jiffy to many many estate agents!!

I never got told the 4 week thing purple. Think we did minipopz at about 2 weeks. The vernix is supposed to be good for their skin but I reckon a few days is probably enough!

Ah yes I luffs connectas dulce .... I've got 2 Blush What print is it?? I could never figure out wovens either, too faffy and stressful with a shouty uncooperative baby. Shame as they are beautiful, but an expensive habit! Awesome news on the run - cut yourself some slack! Bet it was nice to do something not baby related.

purplewhale · 03/10/2015 17:08

It seems to only be our hospital that's saying 4 weeks then.
I found a snowsuit in the stuff we were given, that fits him. So we've been out for a lovely walk and I feel better for shifting my arse!

ZylaB · 03/10/2015 17:20

Yay for a walk!

I also luffs connectas :)

We bought the britax dualfix, rear facing for longer = safer but we have the option to turn it if we want and I love the swivel for putting her in or out. We also saved £85 on it! Bargain!

cookielove · 03/10/2015 18:51

E is still in his pebble he probably has three inches before his head reaches the top, but his legs are bent. He has to stay rearward facing legally till he is 15 months and then we need to decide if we keep him rear facing or by the pearl and put him forward facing (our original plan, as we bought the family fix base) or buy a whole new travel system and keep him rear facing for longer! This has been running through my head for a while :(

I have never top and tailed E, he was in hospital (nicu) for 10 days. On the last day they bathed him for us and he has had bath's ever since. He is a total water baby and has a bath almost every night! We use mostly baby friendly products, when he was teeny tiny we used earth friendly baby as it was very neutral.

minimoo sticky tape for the dummy? Wink

purplewhale · 03/10/2015 21:59

Damnit sorry Zyla I meant to look but that's a good one! I'm planning the same one for next year.

Just got the wonder weeks app on recommendation from a friend. Now I get the leaps thing Smile

We bathed B tonight, he didn't scream but cried a little bit. He no longer smells of baby sick so that's an improvement. I stayed in the dark with him and fed him afterwards and he's now asleep in his crib. I'm sat on the bed with my iPad not daring to turn the TV on!
How often do you all bath them? I was thinking of twice a week. I'll still do bedtime in the dark though. When should I start reading stories? I was thinking it's a good habit to get into for his speech and development

minimooo · 03/10/2015 22:31

Haha cookie I did wonder if that might work! Grin

purple we bath E every night. She loves it and it doesn't dry her skin out. All babies are different though, so see how he takes to it.

That carseat sounds good zyla

In a feat of unimaginable speediness dh managed to make the cot bed in time! So E is currently fast asleep in it. She looks tiny in her massive bed!

DulcetMoans · 03/10/2015 22:39

It's red with white silouttes of trees/flowers popz. It was the only one there. If I like it and want to buy I will shame all!

Missed the bath question before purple but we were never told to wait 4 weeks. We were doing every other day but now trying every day for routine purposes, not necessarily that he needs it. Easier now as he loves baths but did hate them!

I think it is cellotape you are in need of mini. It a specially adapted ball gag! Lol. Good luck ditching it. Guessing a bit young for the fairy took it line? Was the cot ready??

Why doesn't my baby settle with me unless on the boob? Sad Everyone can get him to sleep but me unless I put nipples in his mouth!

mountaingirl01 · 03/10/2015 22:39

I bath M every other day, have done for the last 2weeks! I then oil her with olive oil or baby oil gel. She gets a wipe down with wet cotton wool on mornings when I don't bath her. At the moment she loves being in the water but screams blue murder when I take her clothes off/get her out of the bath.. as soon as she gets used to bejng naked I am hoping to make bath time an evening thing.

Here's praying she sleeps better tonight...

ZylaB · 04/10/2015 07:07

dulcet it's because you smell of milk and it's lovely and makes baby want snuggly cuddles on the boob! (Can you tell I have the same thing lol? H has taken to sitting on my knee then turning around and burying her face into a boob if she wants some milk, in public, trying to feed through my clothes, it's..uhm..lovely?)

LaLaLaaaa · 04/10/2015 07:44

Morning! Feel like death - b was groaning with wind most of the night. He's asleep on me now but I'm covered in milk because he had a tantrum just after letdown and my boobs exploded

Dh leaves for a week working in London today. My mum has arrived to keep me company and help with b. Will miss dh though :( even though he's currently snoring next to me

Purple we bath every day - we were told something daft like 6 weeks but ignored it. Ben was covered in milk and hated top and tailing. I use burts bees stuff in bath

Mimi hooray for cot building! Ours has been up since 30 weeks pg and I just store stuff in it. Did she get on ok?

My ergo packaging says its original but manual shows how you can have baby front or back position so I think it might be 360 I don't know. I like it because it bears his weight nicely and I feel I can carry him for longer. Caboo hurts if I use it now as he's heavy

I'd like to try woven or sling one for carrying on hip and back at some point

Trying to decide whether to take b to London this week to visit daddy - would be too much for just sling though I think and our buggy I'd need to take carry cot which he hates or car seat. Decisions decisions. I just don't want to be stuck with grumpy baby in sling if he decides he's had enough

LaLaLaaaa · 04/10/2015 08:04

Toast - Tapwater for washing. I got fed up with the cotton wool and water thing early on and switched to water wipes. I am selective now about which advice I follow from hv as some of it seems daft.

God I feel like shit. So tired.

Well done on run dulcet! I start mummy rebuild 4 week fitness programme next week.

B doesn't cry at baths but hates the getting dressed bit afterwards. Screams blue murder. Does that go away as they get used to it?

Dulcet that's when I use dummy to get b to forget milk and go to sleep (if I know he's been fed enough)

Last night was horrendous - he kept me awake whilst he groaned in his sleep. Going to be a long day :(

LaLaLaaaa · 04/10/2015 08:26

Oh! So sleep deprived I posted two posts basically saying same thing Blush

Toast85 · 04/10/2015 09:05

Good luck la glad you have your mum staying.

I'd like to try slings but I think MelbaToast is too dinky still really. But when she has grown a bit we will.

So after a nice start of a 3-4 hourly feeding pattern, she did her first bit of cluster feeding yesterday evening, woke me every 1.5-2 hours overnight and then spent an hour this morning demanding boob only to fall asleep on my nipple before she'd latched on, then as soon as I put her back in her crib she would wake and demand more. This went on a while until daddy changed her nappy and then she finally got down to business. She's just woken again for more after only another hour of sleep so I guess I'm in for a long day. Shes meeting her uncle for the first time today too so I hope she doesn't want boob ALL day!

RPopz · 04/10/2015 09:44

Minipopz also won't be settled without boob, by me or anyone actually... It's wearing a bit thin now tbh.

Zyla - mini tried to latch on through my pajama top the other day and bit me when that failed!! Shock

La - if yours is the grey one from the fb pic then it's an original. You can front, back and hip carry with it. The 360 is the same but you can also carry them on your front but facing outwards. Enjoy having your mum to stay Smile

cookielove · 04/10/2015 10:01

We have a baby Bjorn One carrier, E can be a bit meh about it, but dh likes to carry him in it. So we use it occasionally :) I like that it all clips in place!

dulcet yes yes it will be because you smell of milk.

popz i moved to formula but still hadf the same issue that E would only settle on milk for sleep. I cracked it when he was about 9 months :)

comeagainforbigfudge · 04/10/2015 10:42

Oh lordy DD has learned some new high pitched screams overnight! That combined with a visit from Mr policeman for an alarm going off (that wasnt) makes me very grumpy. OH has a cold. And is making life miserable for all! Gah!

I've lost track of what's happening so going to say random things now

Baths/evening routine - we have one every night. From around 8 or 9 weeks. But we only use soap products twice a week (unless major poo explosion). She never had a bath until she was maybe a week old.

We also stopped using cotton wool quite quickly. Just left wee strands on her (annoying). In fact I used water wipes in hospital and nobody said anything!

La what's the mummy rebuild 4 week thingy? Is it a special class?

We also have a baby bjorn. DD prefers to be outward facing. I like the clips but they were digging into me when wearing it yesterday (baby fat still getting in the way Sad)

Car seats - I also don't have isofix. I need to go to mothercare or mamas and papas and get a proper car seat assessment done!

DulcetMoans · 04/10/2015 17:43

I guess I kind of know it's the milk thing and not that he hates me really but then how do you all get have babies to sleep? Especially during the day when no one else is around! I try a few things but sometimes he gets so worked up that it's boob or nothing anyway!

Mummy rebuild sounds great la! Enjoy! J screams when he gets out the bath too, he is getting better though and it's not every time now.

Those high pitch screams can be unreal fudge - we don't have it here but there's a girlby in my antenatal group who gas such a high cry. Can only imagine that at night! Hope you got a nap in or something.

The cluster feeding is a drag toast, hope she came up enough to meet her uncle!

DulcetMoans · 04/10/2015 17:45

purple - I'm trying to make myself some of those letters you posted. Can you tell me how they attached the fabric? Is it glue?
