MrsChristmasboo · 11/12/2006 22:57

oh hi pink!

PinkTinsel · 11/12/2006 23:07

hi snow

eenysugarplumfairy · 12/12/2006 09:39

Aw I love hearing about how cute all your babies are, arent we all so lucky!!!

The party was really really great. Alex is still unwell with a terrible cough but his course of antibiotics is almost finished so hopefully I will notice an improvement soon.

When you feed your little ones carrots do you boil and mash them? I'm going to make Alex a sweet potato puree tonight if you have any tips let me know.

Morning all

Well, my ds did an extremely convincing 'snowflake' performance at his school play, he danced in time with the music as well! . He also sang 'Frosty the Snowman' and 'Oh Christmas Tree' (in German)!!! with the rest of the class, and gave a repeat performance at home. We were extremely proud!

eeny, we didn't have to make the costume - the school do all the nativity costumes for the children, and in case you're wondering, the snowflake outfit consisted of a white robe and a hat with cut out sparkly snowflakes on it.

bhm - I believe it's normal for a c-section tummy to have an overhang for some time. Have a look here (the link which says 'c-section scar pictures') and compare yours! While mine doesn't hang down, it does stick out unnaturally over my scar at 90 degrees (like in some of the pics) instead of there being a smooth curve as you'd have after a normal delivery. In fact, I'm still in my big pants as all my other ones sit right underneath my tummy and settle into the scar area, which I don't like. I shouldn't really complain - I only have a little belly and no stretchmarks, and the scar is neater and has healed better than the first time round.

dd is currently asleep in her moses basket!!! It's the second day she has managed to settle there during the day - wonder how long it will last though?

NbgSparklyYellowFeathers · 12/12/2006 10:17

Hi everyone.

Booby, Happy Belated Birthday! So sorry I missed it. I planned in my head to send you an email. Hope you had a good day

Pinky, lol at Caleb. You think he's trying to tell you something

Hoppy, how cute your ds being a snowflake

Eeny, glad to hear your party went well. Hope your feeling better soon too. About the sweet pot, just peel, cut and boil until soft and mash to a puree or if you've got a liquidiser, use that. Then whats left, stick in ice cube trays and whack in the freezer for another day.

Sarah, sorry to hear your feeling pants too. Bad time of year for it.

Well today my mums come down and shes nipped into town so i've sent her to get some baby rice and weaning spoons and bowls. Ellis is still waking me up at 3:30 so it must be a combination of the famous 16 week growth spurt and hunger. Funny because this is exactly how dd started. So I'll see how we go and maybe start later.

eenysugarplumfairy · 12/12/2006 10:32

hoppy thanks for the link I have always been curious about section scars as I've never seen one before. Glad your play went so well!! and well done for getting DD asleep in the moses basket during the day!

oops must dash Alex needs a feed.

BigHotMamaClaus · 12/12/2006 14:54

OHMYGOD Jackson slept through for the first time ever last night until 7.30am! We gave him a bit of rusk and milk for supper and he loved it.
But me and DH didnt get much sleep last night as we had terrible news that DH's grandad passed away after suffering with severe emphasemia(sp?). DH was in pieces and nearly collapsed with the shock as he seemed to be getting better Sunday night. And my MIL is due back from her hols in Cyprus today so she will be getting a bg shock to find her dad has died while she was away. Its so horrible seeing my DH so upset like this, I feel so helpless . Its mad to think Jackson is starting out his new life and DH's grandad has just finished his, its so true about the circle of life isnt it? A funeral before xmas is going to be a hard one!

I managed somehow to lose 1lb last night not sure how on earth I did it, and tbh Booby bvecause I'm only doing 2 bf's a day I'm not taking advantage of my extra HE's. Gonna have a look at the overhang pics now Hoppy ta x

eenysugarplumfairy · 12/12/2006 15:11

BHM I am so so sorry about your DH's Grandad. I am so close to my Grandparents I know how dreadful he must feel.

BUT congrats on Jackson sleeping through!

jingleboobs · 12/12/2006 16:39

i didnt mean to sound so agressive sorry

im just confused/tired

eenysugarplumfairy · 12/12/2006 18:57

you didnt sound aggressive booby dont worry.

I think the general consesus is you have to do what is right for you and your baby. When the baby starts seeming unsatisfied with milk, or coveting your food, perhaps you should wean. But there is no rush & its not a competition so dont worry yourself over it. You are a great Mum you will know when CJ needs more food, it will just feel right.

eenysugarplumfairy · 12/12/2006 19:01

well HV today said Alex's chest needs to be continually checked while he is still coughing as he is at risk of developing pnuemonia. So I am taking him tomorrow and then every other day for them to listen to his lungs. I'm trying not to worry!

jingleboobs · 12/12/2006 19:14

thanx enny its just such a big step and im worried to start her too early

jingleboobs · 12/12/2006 19:18

bhm can you call me i would like a quick chat 0115 8776576

MrsChristmasboo · 13/12/2006 08:55

Eeny, my niece (who was 9 weeks prem) has just gotten over pneumonia, after only 2 days in hosp and a course of AB's she is back to her lively monkey ways so try not to worry and just keep an eye on him.

As for Austin, had him weighed y'day. He is 16lb 4oz which surprised me as ds1 at the same age was nearer 19lb! But told HV he is eating and she seemed to be ok with it. Just told me to take it slowly (like i didn't know that!) But i'm not sure if he is getting enough. Has about 28oz milk per day, maybe more some days. Is it enough????

Has anyone heard from Melsy lately? Wondering how she is doing....

stumpydogsbaubles · 13/12/2006 11:09

i've been extra busy -it's been my dd's third birthday (on the 11th) she's started to play with other children, rather than alongside them, which was nice to see, at her party. eeny - hope your little one's feeling well soon.- i'm thinking about solids for my ds now. he's started to lick his lips and try and reach food when i'm eating it. he's still only just 16 weeks 'though. maybe we'll let him have something on xmas day he wears a grobag each night but they're all his big sister's so he has to wear pink, girly things. sill he doesn't complain! hoppy - the c section pics were v interesting. i try and forget i've got a tummy. my belly looks like a load of tripe. at my 6 week check-up i still had undissolved stitches. my dr told me to have lots of long, hot soaks in the bath. ah, if only . . . . I still haven't done any exercise, even 'though i was running regularly right up to 4 months of pg. my dh has just phoned and found out he had big play-doh stains on the knees of his trousers, from where he'd knelt down this morning. they are all green and blue, he said, with bits on , and he'd just had quite an important meeting too. i have to go now - my dd has appeared with jelly smeared all over her

NbgSparklyYellowFeathers · 13/12/2006 14:37

BHM, sorry to hear about your dh's grandad . My dh's grandad passed away when dd was very young. Again it was a shock to him because although he was ill he was getting better. Such a sad time but he had lots of fond memories of him. I hope your dh is ok.
Great about Jackson though. Long may it last!

Booby, funny you should say about a meet up. I have just text Melsy today about meeting up in January because dh is doing a days work in Watford so I was going to go with him. Its on the 18th which is a Thursday.

SBoo, Melsy is ok. Got alot on atm but both dd's are fine and Melsy is still a great big numpty (You can slap me in january mels lol)

Well I tried out the baby rice. What a joke that was. All Ellis did was spit it back out and pull faces at me. So obviously he's not ready. Last night was hell too. He had me up at 1am, 3:30am and 5:30am. He wasnt that bad when he was newborn so it was quite a shock! My eyes feel like pee holes in the snow.
But its more obvious today that its a growth spurt because no sooner have I put him down to sleep after a feed, he wants more. In fact thats all he's done since 5:30 is feed.

PinkTinsel · 13/12/2006 16:06

BHM so sorry bout jacksons greatgrandad hope your dh is ok. your poor mil having to come home to that news.

eeny, hopefully they're just being especially cautious and he'll be fine {{{{hugs}}}}

we've all been miserable the last couple of days, dp had the flu and i pulled my back somehow so was in bits. we took both kids to bed at one point yesterday as i couldn't cope thankfully missy actually slept but then caleb decided to stay awake all night so i'm shattered. it feels like we've just got one sickness after another round here at the minute

sarahSILVERbells · 13/12/2006 16:10

Sorry to hear the bad news . My nan died of this 10 years ago and I still miss her terribly.

By the way, my head is so full of cotton wool that I forgot to take Molly for her 3rd injections today ! Had to phone doctors and apologise and grovel. Can't get in now for another 2 weeks! Oh well, can't be that important that they are 4 weeks apart!

PinkTinsel · 13/12/2006 16:14

they're 2 months apart over here sarah so i wuldn't worry

eenysugarplumfairy · 13/12/2006 18:18

Hi All!

Booby we could do a meet up in London any time after Christmas! Anywhere else and we would certainly try to make it. Sorry I missed your call earlier I've been sleeping.

Pink sorry you have all had a rough time as well. I have got Alex's chest infection now and also torn a ligement in my ankle so am hobbling around. Hope your back gets better soon. Too bad we arent closer we could be ill together.

I've had to cancel going to the nativity play tomorrow because I dont want to get everyone else sick.

oops have to dash alex is awake! he's havign sweet potato tonight!

ronniemummy · 13/12/2006 20:12

Took Katie to see Health Visitor today- she weighs 14lb 15oz at 14 weeks.

She seems to think that she could be ready for baby rice in the next week or so! Is on 7-8oz bottles.

Yellowfeathers- I know how you feel re. baby waking up in the night- Katie has never slept through since birth but she has started waking up5-6 times during the night and being really niggly- but it is not a hungry cry so we have to keep getting up to her and putting the dummy in her mouth.

MrsChristmasboo · 13/12/2006 20:58

Ohhhh a meet up after Christmas? Sounds like fun.... I'm (apparenty) not too far from Watfrod, my only problem is motorways/[ublic transport/flying and generally leaving the house.... doesn't leave me many options does it!
