cj meeting her great granddad

PinkTinsel · 01/12/2006 23:16

ahhhhhhhh xmas insanity has hit in town! i picked the wrong day to go in with the 2 of them, lol. caleb didn't wake up the whole time so i couldn't put dd in the buggy, had to walk her the whole way round. she was an angel bless her but she really doesn't like standing still looking at anything in the shops good exercise though!

booby, all the more reason for me to wait with caleb just in case that is what's wrong with dd. i'm supposed to hold wheat anyway til a year to be safe as she definitely has an intolerance to that.

PinkTinsel · 01/12/2006 23:16

BigHotMama · 01/12/2006 23:52

Evening girlies, my Dh has gone out with the boys for his birthday and has let me have a girly night in with my boy and the girls. Was lovely. Had a hectic week really after being to 2 concerts feels like the week has flown by evenmore faster than usual. And my diet has gone tits up btw so have probably put on what I lost!

Good news Jackson has put on some weight and bumped himself up to back to the 50th centile. (Thought my knees were hurting more when I picked him up ) He's now 13lb 2oz and has put almost 2lb on in 2 weeks the little chunk! Pink, has your Caleb got those lovely legs you just wanna munch? Am working on Jacksons little chicken legs ha!

Welcome Stumpy, sending big hugs for your ds, hope everything works ut for you.

Have tried getting Jackson to roll over but he needs mommy's help at the moment but seems to enjoy it and is lifting his head up to have a good look around.. Am hoping by putting him in his cotbed at the weekend he'll be able to move around a lot more as the moses basket makes him look huge now! He's been waking up 3-4 times during the night and its definatley due to teething as a little bit of calpol or bonjela on the dummy send him right back off and this mornign I had to wake him for a feed due to my bursting boobies.

Hope alex is ok Eeny, I'm the same checking if he's still breathing. I nearly woke him up last night by touching his hands as he was so quiet!

Glad you enjoyed your shopping bonanza Olivo!

Nice to hear from you Hoppy, bless your little baba being a little one, they are soo cute arent they? I saw a little baby in asda today and couldnt take my eyes are off her she was tiny but had a 3 month old head on her shoulders, looking around etc, it was lovely.

Good luck on your 1st day at work Booby! and good luck with the baby rice Eeny.

I'm off to bed as Dh will come in pissed laster and more than likely wake me up with fumbling around then snorign his head off grreaaatttt!

Have a great weekend girls, I'm off on a girly night out tomorrow so Sunday my head will be feeling very sore...dreading that feeling again!

olivhohoho · 02/12/2006 10:17

Morning!

wishing i hadnt boasted abot my good night's sleep last week as ever since, dd has woken twice a night wanting feeding!last night was meant to be my 'night off' but i'd only expressed enough for one bottle and so was up at 5 to feed her again! she just doesnt seem interested in feeding much in the day and so makes up for it at night. at least she goes straight back down though.

my dd is back on the 25th centile but looks younger according to most of the people i see in town!! she was 25 th in weight when born, but 95th in height!! would like to have her measured now to see if she is still long - she has chicken legs too BHM

quiet weekend i think, may take dd swimming again tomorrow and then we have her very first xmas party to go to. i know she's too young but i cant resist!! have to take a 5 pound gift for santa to give her - is a book ok do you think?

sorry, have written loads!

hope you're all well.x

NbgSparklyYellowFeathers · 02/12/2006 10:47

Ooooo tis December folks
Can you believe this time last year we were all starting to find out we were pregnant!

Glad to hear Alex is better Eeny. They can have all sorts of weird reactions to the vaccinations cant they.

BHM, enjoy your night out!

Olivo, I'm sure she'll just click with the sleeping eventually. At least like you say, she goes straight back down. I feel sorry for those mums who have babies that just scream through the night.

Pinky, you were brave! I feel quite smug that I have done every single bit of xmas shopping on the internet. I havent bought one thing in store!

Booby, lovely pic! You seemed to have made everyone all gooey with it

Well I'm putting the christmas tree up today with dd. Shes so excited. I put the stockings up last night. We have one of those big old brick stove fires so it looks really festive.
Ellis is still doing well. Still necking 8oz bottles and sleeping from 9 till 6. He goes back down for a couple of hours too after that so its quite good really. I havent had him weighed but I'll have to this week.
Got a busy weekend. I must do a big tidy up today and tomorrow I MUST MUST MUST finish stripping that god awful wallpaper off. I'd really like the room to be decorated for xmas.

Anyhoo, have a great weekend everyone.

PinkTinsel · 02/12/2006 11:03

snort, this time last year i was being complimented by a girl at work and cried for 2 hours because an old man was nice to me when my boss yelled at me and would you belive i still didn't do a test til halfway through january?! slight case of denial!

i'm resisting the urge to put our decs up til next week, and we don't get the tree til closer to the day as we get a real one and we want it to last til january. the only thing we have up is a wooden santa by the fireplace that dd sits chatting too and kisses goodnight, lol.

olivo, sorry you had a bad night with holly. hopefully it's just a growth spurt and she'll settle back down for you

PinkTinsel · 02/12/2006 11:03

'by a girl at work on how big my boobs looked' that should read!

sarahSILVERbells · 02/12/2006 12:06

Afternoon everyone. I'm supposed to be at my reflexology class today but had that bloody awful sickness & diahhorea bug last night. Spent most of the night sat on the toilet with a bucket in front of me. I just hope the kids don't get it. Feeling absolutely drained now and dh has took kids out for the morning for me. I'm really p*ssed off as I was looking forward to my course and now I'll have to wait until after xmas for my next session .

got a banging headache now so going to sign off.

henrybaba · 02/12/2006 15:14

Sparkly Yellow Feathers - Thanks for suggesting I look at this thread..! My DS is 14weeks old and it is great to read through this thread and see that so many other people have the same queries and doubts as me! Will keep watching it..

PinkTinsel · 02/12/2006 18:38

hello henrybaba

please don't be scared by the lunacy, we seem to have frightened off all the new recruits with our crazyiness...... either that or we smell funny whats your ds's name?

whoever mentioned the teething gel on the dummy btw....THANK YOU!!!!! been a life saver today for me as calebs been a right misery with his teeth.

henrybaba · 02/12/2006 21:33

Thanks for the welcome PinkTinsel - DS is called Henry (hence my nickname..), born 25 August, 7lb14oz. Weighed 14lbs at clinic last week - wavering between 50th and 75th percentile.
The lunacy is good - it's very easy to take it all too seriously and start stressing about the small stuff!

ronniemummy · 02/12/2006 21:59

I think Katie Lily is giving babies a run for the money with the weight. She was 12 weeks old and weighed 14lb 5oz last Tuesday which puts her on the 91st centile but for her length she is on the 98th centile!

I love her rolls of fat on the legs and her chubby wrists and her chubby cheeks that I could eat!

She is really, really grumpy at the moment- screaming for ages ????????????? Normally I can settle her but to no avail. I have changed her milk for hungry baby, she is easily taking7oz bottles. What could it be? Possibly teething? colic returning?

sarahSILVERbells · 03/12/2006 09:00

Ronnie - could be teething or just hungry! Is she draining the 7oz bottles? If so, increase to 8oz.

sarahSILVERbells · 03/12/2006 09:03

One thing I forgot to mention - I changed Jack onto the hungrier babies milk - SMA white - and he was like this, grumpy all the time. Spoke to hv and she asked why I changed him from SMA gold so I said because he was hungry and it didn't seem to satisfy him. She said that the sma white has been proven to cause more stomach discomfort in some babies and that he might have stomach ache. In the end, I put him back on SMA gold and just increased the bottle size. He was fine after that.

BTW, Molly isn't on SMA, it didn't suit her, she is on Farleys and loving it!

puccaupunderthemistletoe · 03/12/2006 09:04

George was 17lb 7oz @ 15 week lol, and in between the 91st and 98th centile.

PinkTinsel · 03/12/2006 10:08

ronnie, sounds like teething to me. calebs been like that the last couple of nights, wakes up screaming and won't feed or settle. the nelsons teetha gel works miracles though, a bit on his dummy and literally 10 seconds later he's fast asleep! wish it'd been out when dd was teething, lol.

olivhohoho · 03/12/2006 13:29

hello!

sarah - if you dont mind me asking, how do you know if a formula suits your lo? i am going to strat dd on formula in a couple of weeks and it owuld be good to know what to look out for. i have bought some cow and gate organic - any opinions on this?

been swimming this morning, another success and off to a christmas party this afternoon. then hopefully, a better night than last night!

oh and welcome to the newcomers .
we're not all mad

sarahSILVERbells · 03/12/2006 14:18

Olivo - can't comment on the organic one as only tried SMA & Farleys. Tried Molly first on SMA gold, which is what Jack had. However, she was bringing back quite a lot after each feed and it gave her lots of wind (pulls knees up to tummy). I then tried her on Farleys which she took to straight away - no bringing back and no wind problems. What I would suggest is that most brands do ready made up milk in cartons which you can try first before you purchase a full tin. Perhaps trying this way won't mean a lot of waste and you might be better off money wise!

eenysugarplumfairy · 03/12/2006 16:05

Hi all!!! Let Alex join the teething gang - hey and THANKS for the tip!!! I'm going to put some bonjela on his dummy!!

Welcome newbies!! August gang is a lot of fun, make yourself at home.

Olivo Alex wakes AT LEAST 3 times every night sometimes more so I wouldnt worry that your LO is waking twice!! I know its still tiring though isnt it. Alex has had SMA gold, Cow & Gate organic and HIPP organic. They are all good. I am going to keep him on one of the organic ones if I can.

Well all our decorations are up!!! It looks so christmasy.

We gave Alex baby rice yesterday and today adn its been a success!!! He loves it!!

MumToAPiglet · 03/12/2006 21:55

Hello - I am new to Mumsnet having had my first baby (a DD called Anna) on 17 August. I am loving being a Mum and Anna is gorgeous but I also worry and I love reading this thread and seeing I am not alone in my worries. I hope you do not mind if I join you.

Santamander · 04/12/2006 09:24

Welcome to Mumsnet MumtoaPiglet!!!

You have stumbled onto a bvery friendly thread.
We August parents have been through all sorts together and can swap some very mad and interesting stories.

Hope you have fun here - it's a mental and brilliant place!

Hi everyone else too! Sorry I can't get on here much at all these days. My work has shifted and home downtime is so very fleeting!

It is great being a dad. I just realised it again yesterday when I had an hour-long phone conversation with a firend who is on the verge of divorce.

I so very much appreciate what I have in Eeny and Alex.
I'd much rather be losing sleep this way than his way!

Well off to push the grindstone round - Tara.

Santamander

P.S. congrats Jingleboobs on CJ's 1st Tooth - how painfully exciting!!!
