I put Molly in her cot when she was around 6 weeks. She likes to lay with her arms out and up to the sides and she wasn't able to do that in the moses basket. She now sleeps straight through!

eenysugarplumfairy · 29/11/2006 18:10

Alex never would sleep in his moses basket. He sleeps in his cot now with his arms out to the side and loves it. Although he only sleeps in the pram during the day, probably a bad habit.

jingleboobs · 29/11/2006 21:28

hi ya all sorry i missed you all today

cj is fine and still in her moses as long as she can slepp with her arms above her head shes not bothered bless her no matter where she is

MrsChristmasboo · 29/11/2006 21:38

Awww Mels hope you are feeling a bit better hun. sounds awful!

Austin is on organix banana porridge and as soon as i open the cupboard he screams with delight! He a real piglet. Tried to hold off but theres only so many bottles you can do in a day....

And i'm not sure if its just here but he is trying to stand, wriggles along the floor on his tum with his bum in the air and is sitting up unaided.....I'm sure ds1 wasn't at this age. Anyone else in this boat yet? There was me thinking i've got a few months before i have to raise the shelves Ho hum....

Eeny, am gonna take a new pic of baby as the one i've got is from a few weeks back and he has changed again so can i email it once i've taken it?

Really can't keep up with this thread!!!

PinkTinsel · 29/11/2006 23:42

yup, calebs on the move too. he can go backwards on his front and pushes himself along with his feet on t\his back, can roll in every bloody direction and is attempting sit-ups all day long (dd's new favourite activity is to plop herself on the couch, screech 'SIT!' at him and point to the couch next to her and sit with her arm flung around his shoulders poking him and rubbing him while he giggles like a loon )

oddly enough he seems content on just the bm for the minute so maybe i will get to 6 months with him (says she shuddering at the memories of purrees)

poor guy had a miserable day today, damn near chewed his hand off! he even tried chewing dd's at one point much to her disgust

eeny, thank you for letting me rant earlier..... sorry for going on at you

dreamy how's your mom?

eenysugarplumfairy · 30/11/2006 10:18

Pink no need to thank me I just wish I could be more helpful. It was good talking to you!

Booby I'm sorry you get down this time of year! I always do in January because Christmas is over and its my birthday and we are usually broke after Christmas.

I am only waiting til Saturday to give Alex baby rice so my friend who bought him his high chair can be here for his first meal in it otherwise I would feed him now I think he is soooo ready for it!

I cant believe some of your babies are on the move!!! Alex doesnt do any of those yet but then he was prem so he is behind your babies in a lot of things.

Snow no worries, email me the pic any time you get it and I will sort it out for you!

Alex has been really unwell and upset since his jabs yesterday. I am worried about him. Just trying to keep him asleep at the moment as I think that is the best thing for him. Hope you are all well!

stumpydog · 30/11/2006 11:20

hello, i'm new to mumsnet.my little boy is waiting for his kidney op.- pyeloplasty. hydronephrosis was diagnosed as far back as the 20 week scan. he's the easiest baby i've ever had.smiles all the time and sleeps most nights, though he's in pain now from teething.he doesn't get much time to lie on the floor and practice moving cos his big sis, 2, is a bit heavy handed. seriously, we've had a big prob with sibling jealousy, but things are slowly improving. i'd like to try him on formula soon but am scared to as his big sis was allergic to dairy til she was a year old. she's ok now with it.

PinkTinsel · 30/11/2006 11:37

hello stumpy dog

welcome to the madhouse! how long will your ds have to wait for the op? you must be worried sick. my poor caleb doesn't get much time on the flooreither as his big would roll right over him with her toys, lol. i give him a good roll around on the bed every night though to make up for it.

stumpydog · 30/11/2006 11:53

hi pinktinsel. ds is on a waiting list and op should be jan/feb. he's doing well, we just have to make sure he doesn't get a urinary infection. he's been on daily antibiotics since he was born. i like your idea of time for the baby in the evening.it's just that when i'm busy i know i don't give him enough time. he's such a sweet little thing - he will sit in his car seat smiling at the ceiling for ages when we get home, and everyone sorts themselves out. and his big sis is a real livewire and big bossyboots

eenysugarplumfairy · 30/11/2006 12:17

this is whats going on with me

melsy · 30/11/2006 12:23

Hi stumpydog welcome to the nut place. I speak for myself of course !!!

When was ds born ? Must be hard with the antibiotics every day.

Thanks for checking up on me pink , it feels a little better today ,bt still sore, now on paracetomol every 4hrs. Very weird what hapened. The Practitoner called me last night to see how I was doing too , think shes a bit alarmed by what the reaction was like too.

Wow at the boys sitting up and nearly crawling, wow thats early. Im wondering how dd2 will do if I put her on her tummy more. She does roll everwere and then her arm gts in the way. She ends up all over her cot in different places all the time, completely turned round last night !

Sorry Alex is unwell eeny , has he a temp ?

I cant face weaining yet , going to see if I can get to 5mths, Id like to try for 6 so I can do finger food stuff , BUT BUT BUT It was sooo much easier having ready made cubes from freezer (well steamed and pureed), other than that I asume with BLW you have to prepare every meal each time, seems a drag to me or do i stand corrected ????

eenysugarplumfairy · 30/11/2006 12:32

Hi stumpydog welcome to MN and the August thread. Sorry your DS has been ill it must be really hard for you!! Hope you dont have to wait too long for the op.

I am really worried about Alex. I am taking him to the Dr tonight at 5:50. I am letting him sleep as much as he wants today during the day I hope it wont mean he wont sleep at night tonight but the poor thing is so miserable I dont want to wake him. I usually wake him after 2 hours so he isnt too awake at night. I dont THINK he has a temp but I havent checked it I dont want to wake him up!

PinkTinsel · 30/11/2006 13:02

eeny, calebs been a bit off since the vacs too, sometimes if they were a bit sick getting the jabs it causes more of a reaction as the immune system has to work alot harder. i honestly wouldn't worry darling, he'll be fine by tomorrow i'll bet. as he doesn't have an infection the doctor won't really be able to do much for him, and if he does have a fever the best thing you can do is give hom a little calpol or neurofen. use the themometer under his arm while he's asleep to check and if it's above 37 degrees (it's a bit lower for underarm) give him some calpol. my doc always says to bring them in only if the temp goes above 38 degrees.

eenysugarplumfairy · 30/11/2006 14:39

Pink I am thinking you are right and there isnt much point in taking him to the Drs but I think I still will, its only 5 mins up the road so it isnt a hassle to go there.

NbgSparklyYellowFeathers · 30/11/2006 14:53

Wow to Austin and Caleb on the move! How early is that!!!!!!
No chance of that happening here. Ellis likes his bum too much.

Think I maybe joining you with the weaning though SBoo and Eeny. Really really didnt want to but over the last few days ellis has been taking 8oz feeds every 3 hrs. I cant fill the bottle up anymore lol! Could just be a growth spurt which is IIRC is quite common around this age but if it persists I might have no choice. I think I'll just jump straight onto potato though. Baby rice is a bit yucky as I remember.

Had another mumsnetter here today with her 18 week old ds. He's gorgeous and Ellis and him were smiling at each other. So lovely to watch them.

Hi to everyone. Welcome stumpydog!

eenysugarplumfairy · 30/11/2006 15:08

alex is in his new door bouncer right now - he is soooooo cute!

NbgSparklyYellowFeathers · 30/11/2006 15:09

Awww sweet!

Picture!!!

eenysugarplumfairy · 30/11/2006 18:19

Well went to the Doctor. She examined him pretty thouroughly. It IS a reaction from the jabs but there is nothing she can do about it. It should stop by tomorrow morning. The site of the injections on his leg is a little swollen and bruised. Phew. I will probably check he is breathing about a million times tonight!

stumpydog · 30/11/2006 20:39

hi everyone, thanks for being so welcoming. ds was born on the 24/8 by emergency c section.luckily i went into hosp cos i thought i was having some contractions and i'd been told to come in straight away. it turned out i had a placental abruption and they had to get ds out fast. anyway it all turned out well.sorry to hear about your ds feeling ill, eeny. whenever anything like that happens to me i always panic and rush to the doctor. i've even called out an ambulance before

sarahSILVERbells · 30/11/2006 21:37

Evening everyone. Had Molly weighed today and she is 15lb 5oz and 14 weeks. Grandad keeps calling her 'little dumpling' - talk about giving her a complex! Asked hv about weaning - they recommend that you wait til around the 6 months mark !!!!!! My face must have gave away my shock because she then said, 'but as a 2nd time mum, you can tell yourself when she is ready - it's your call!!!' Bugger the recommendations - it never did Jack any harm to start baby rice at around 18 weeks. No wonder you first time round mums aren't sure if you're getting the same advice as me!!

hoppybird · 01/12/2006 10:20

Hello everyone, and welcome stumpydog and reidie!

It's taken me ages to catch up - finally got there. I LOVE all the pics of your babies - they're all so beautiful - I may even be tempted to post a pic of my little treasure too.

re: tiny babies - I think mine gets the prize for tiniest! (unless P42's twins are smaller). I had her weighed this week (14 weeks plus couple of days) - she's 10lb 7oz, and on the 5th centile, bless. But then, she has actually more than doubled her birth weight, so I can't ask any more of her. I love that she's tiny, she turns heads at the clinic because she looks birthweight but grins from ear to ear, holds her head up etc. and gives the impression of being advanced for her age. She'll only be a baby for a bit, and I'm so enjoying her being very portable.

BHM, don't worry about Jackson's weight - if he's happy and healthy, that's what matters. My ds stayed with the 9th centile for the first couple of years - at 6, he's on the 25th now - slim, perfectly proportioned and full of energy - he's a couple of centimeters smaller than average, having had to deal with being premature plus having my short genes mucking things up , but he's certainly not the smallest in the class.

re: weaning. I'm with Pinky here - can't be bothered faffing around with purees and rice until I know for a fact she's properly ready. I introduced baby rice at around 20 weeks with ds, just a couple of spoons a day, sometimes I'd miss a few days, but really, he wasn't actually that interested until 6 months, when he saw us eating and cried and reached out - that was a definite cue for solids. Thinking about it, baby led weaning makes sense - after all, our ancestors didn't have blenders!

re: waking at night again for more feeds - my dd is doing this too - there is a 3 month growth spurt, and she's up twice a night building up the supply - I've gone up a cup size! I guess a ff baby would do the same. From past experience, sleep goes back to normal after a couple of weeks.

I'm reaaly amazed at Snowboo's and Pinky's babies being on the move! Are they bigger than average too? I'm guessing the smaller ones are still concentrating on growing - they'll all get there in the end!

olivhohoho · 01/12/2006 10:43

hi everyone - havent had a chance to read all the messages yet (3 days away and it looks like an epic to catch up on).

had a fab time in england, dd was an angel, brilliant on the flight etc and i surpassed myself with my shopping ability!!got so many clothes bargains - thanks again for your suggestions!

back once i've caught up......

PinkTinsel · 01/12/2006 11:28

hoppy, caleb is 95th centile and in 6-9 month clothes (9-12 monthcoat!) so a fair bit bigger than average last i checked he and auatin, snow's baby, were petty much exactly the same size so i think they hold joint title for biggest babies on the thread! if he put any more energy into growing í wouldn't be able to lift him, lol.

stumpy, i hope your ds'sop goes well, you must be relieved it's soon going to be over and done with. poor guy having to take that many ABs.

glad everything was ok eeny, is he ok today?

olivo, so of your shopping trip!

hoppyrobin · 01/12/2006 13:58

Pink - maybe it's no coincidence that your big babies are already very active. It's like sleeping through - I wouldn't expect the tiny babies I produce to sleep through as soon as larger babies do, simply because they have smaller tummies which digest the milk quicker, and therefore need more frequent feeds.

eenysugarplumfairy · 01/12/2006 15:10

hi all! Hope you are well. Alex is much better today, I am so happy.

Hoppy you are so right about the link between sleeping through and size!

Alex is somewhere in between all your babies for size, he is 16 weeks and 15lb 9oz. In 0-3 and 3-6 clothes.

Olivo glad you had a good shopping trip!

Alex is getting his baby rice tomorrow! I cant wait!!
