purpleturtle · 20/11/2006 15:56

Luna and Dreamy - I don't know what to say. Is it okay if I pray for you both, and your mums, obviously?

Congrats on the job, jingleboobs. Haven't got up to date on this thread, so have no idea what it is, but hope it's fantastic and you'll love it.

Ds2 is just having his 2nd nap of the day. Hooray! Now I just need to be a bit more disciplined about putting him down when he's tired, rather than hoicking him off to do something I find more interesting, and he might actually be the perfect baby.

Today's big news in our household is that dd has lost her first tooth!!! She has brought it home in a 'tooth fairy pocket' provided by school. How sweet is that?!

I am quite unprepared for this new stage in our family. Looks like Dd and ds2 might be teething together... (does it hurt 2nd time round?)

spoke too soon. ds2 is awake again. See ya.

sarahlou1uk · 20/11/2006 16:52

Talking about teeth - today I had to take Molly to the Dental Hospital concerning her teeth. Apparantly, the one which I think is growing funny behind her lip is actually her jawbone knitting together! Nothing to worry about there. However, the actual tooth that she was born with has been rubbing her tongue and caused a great big ulcer which is making her grizzly. Dentist took one look then said she'd like to take it out there and then as ulcers can become infected if left!

So, Molly had a tooth, but it has now gone and I have it in a little envelope ready to go in her baby book! She took it really well. Only a bit of crying but took dummy ok and went back to sleep. I just needed a large brandy and some smelling salts!!!!

No, really it was fine. However, she won't get another milk tooth in it's place so we'll be having gappy photos when all the others are through!!

Sending good vibes and well wishes to Dreamy & Luna and their not so good news.

Booby - congrats on the job!!

I'm still doing my reflexology course and loving it! However, I still need to knuckle down and do the reading - I'm OK in the practical, it's just finding time to read!

Speak to you all soon.

dreamydowler · 20/11/2006 17:40

thanks purple that means a lot to me. Things just seem to be going from bad to worse she has been at the hospital today with a blood clot in her leg and the stitches she has since the biopsy have become infected. she has been put back on warfarin and is on antibiotics.

PinkTinsel · 20/11/2006 18:42

lo all,

luna i'm so sorry about your mom. you'll be in my thoughts pet.

purple, the second teeth don't hurt at all is she very excited bout the tooth fairy?!

poor molly having her tooth pulled, are you both recovering from the shock sarah?

i'm sorry i didappeared off msn earlier girls, my pc had a bit of a wobbly and you'd all gone by the time i'd sorted it, was fun chatting though.

dreamy {{{{{hugs}}}}}

eenysugarplumfairy · 21/11/2006 09:43

sorry i havent read all the replies... sal just broke down in our car - its going to cost a fortune to get it towed and fixed and at christmas time! I am so upset.

melsy · 21/11/2006 10:06

awwwww Luna Im so sorry about your news with your mum, wierd how these things can help rifts in familys.

Dreamy ,sorry about yyor mum also , has been a tough few months for you all. Good news on the house , oh well yuor flat will be a dream for the next family!. >>>>.

sarahlou1uk , poor little molly , its made my stomach flip as dd2 has a neonatal tooth/ bone bud on her gum which is be monitered. Well done you for sounding so calm about its removal, Im already getting in state and not sure yet if it will be removed. Its making me go all wobbly inside.

Anyone else feeling more and more tired ?????????, Im not sure whats going on with me as Im mfeeling more drained eaxch week. Its strange as I was doing really well, even on 2 feeds a night. All I want to do is eat and stay in pj's all day.

Hope to speak to you all on msn soon !!!

purpleturtle · 21/11/2006 10:34

Melsy, have you had your iron levels checked recently? Just a thought.

Dreamy, still thinking of you.

Re: the tooth fairy. bit of a stuff-up in the turtle household. Dd waited till dh had gone out to work (and these things couldn't be checked!) to tell me that her daddy had told her that there's no such thing as fairies, and it's your mummy or daddy who put money under your pillow. I was a bit sad that she's been deprived that silly bit of childhood, but hey ho. Then, come bedtime, much anxiety over whether it would tickle when we came to do the swap?; would we be able to reach if she slept in the top bunk? In the end, she and I exchanged a very small tooth for a pound coin and she went to bed happy, with her purse under her pillow!!!

dh came in from work, and was disappointed that the special shiny 50p in his pocket had been usurped. So he went up and put it under her pillow anyway. (Very expensive this first tooth ) This morning dd seems quite satisfied with the explanation that the real tooth fairy did come after all. Despite there being no tooth under her pillow.

Told you we were unprepared for this new phase.

jingleboobs · 21/11/2006 11:21

lol turtle i love that stage with kids when its all faires and magic

dreamy big hugs i hope your mum is bearing up hugs your way

eeny is sal ok was he hurt ohmygod

SparklyfestiveYellowFeathers · 21/11/2006 14:49

God, its all going off isnt it.
I dont know if any of you remember me talking about my dh's collegue. She was due her baby 3 weeks before me and we've been paly since we've moved.
Anyway, her mum called me today to say that her partner has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and hasnt got long left.
I feel so sad for her. Their baby is only 16 weeks old and shes only 23. Shes also got PND so I cannot imagine what shes going through atm.
I feel as though I want to do something for her but it seems like theres nothing. I have said we'd do anything to help even if its just looking after her dd. Just wish I could make it all go away for her.

So not a great day here.

Hope your all ok

olivhohoho · 21/11/2006 15:10

hello.

luna and dreamy -sorry to hear about your mums.hope you are both as ok as you can be.

YF - cant imagine what they must be going through.

eeny -hope your car is ok. total bummer when things break down at this time of year. we've just had to get a new oven as the old one packed in.

purple - at the tooth fairy!

just come back from the clinic - dd has put on 5oz this week despite a lot of vomiting so am quite relieved. sick (excuse the pun!) of smelling of sick though.

2nd lot of injections tomorrow - not sure if i'm brave enough to take her on my own, dh had to hold her last time and i went out of the room !

purpleturtle · 21/11/2006 15:56

Yellow - very quickly as ds2 is starving . Could you cook something for the family to pop in the freezer for the days when they need it?

I was helped enormously when I had depression by a fab friend who organised a rota of people to bring meals by every day for nearly 3 weeks. made such a difference not having to worry about what we were going to eat.

Got to go

PinkTinsel · 21/11/2006 16:38

feathers

agree with purple, food would be a fab idea. she might not want to take you up on babysitting as if he hasn't long left they'll want to spend as much time together as possible, not having to worry about cooking dinner would help with that i'm sure.

eeny, that sucks about the car. is it going to expensive?

eenysugarplumfairy · 21/11/2006 17:38

YEllow I am so sorry for your friend. I agree that food would be the best thing to do. Just think how nice it is when you get a takeaway or something and you dont have to cook. Make her a soup or something easy to heat up. Like a casserole. Also she might be eligible for a Homestart person - someone to come round their house just to help out a bit and be there to talk to.

Well the car is going to cost us £350 which we dont have. We are going to take out a small loan to pay for it... well tomorrow we are going to see if we can just trade it in to avoid paying for it as I would really much rather spend the money on Christmas which is what I was planning. I am really annoyed this has happened to us now of all times but there isnt anythign we can do about it so there you go. We just have to be grateful we can take out a small loan or hopefully trade it in. Its nothing compared to bigger problems like that of Yellow's friend.

Olivo - good luck with injections! Its horrible isnt it.

Purple that is so cute about your tooth fairy! I cant wait til Alex is at that stage!

Melsy sorry you are so tired. I have been as well actually and as Alex is mostly bottlefed now I am taking a lot of naps. I dont know why I am so tired. As of today have increased my ADs.

Hope you are all well!

BigHotMama · 21/11/2006 19:10

Hi everyone

So much to catch up on since last tuesday!

Luna and Dreamy, sorry to hear your news about your moms, I moan about my mom all the time but I really dont know what I'd do without her.
Big hugs to you both x

And Yellow terrible news about your DH's colleague. Cant imagine what she's going through.

Eeny, your doing a grand job hun and I know how hard it is to decide to give up breastfeeding as I'm going through a similar sitution. I really have enjoyed it but at times its got so frustrating. Jackson has taken to comfort sucking a lot now so am definately weaning him off the breast as its tiring me out. I'm upping the formula and hoping to dry out that way, how did you wean Alex off? Was it a gradual thing or did you go cold turkey? I know what you mean when you give them a bottle and they suck on it as if they've been starved, Jackson can gulp 7 oz of formula in 5 minutes, and I bet he's never got that much from my boobs! Its hard going isnt it? Hope your feeling better now and dont beat yourself about it x

Congrats on the job Booby and I must say your cj is so gorgeous.Did you fo for the 'watch me grow' package from Olan Mills you had? Jackson is booked in December for his 1st portrait, cor wait just hope he will be smiley and happy! May get him a xmas outfit as they do xmas backdrops, how cute!

Saralou am so envious of your Molly sleeping through till that time? The most Jackson sleeps is 6 hours and thats on a good day!
Hope Molly is feeling better too!

Pink, I play in a Meatloaf tribute band, there are 8 of us and we have such a great laugh! I also sing with my little sister and we do all sorts of music from pop, rock to soul and motown, its good fun and the money aint bad either! Check the website out for a piccy of me in action, www.maetloaf.co.uk (spelt maet as in Black Country slang where I come from thats how its pronounced ha!) Hope Caleb is feeling better too.

Melsy, know what you mean on feeling more tired every week! I never get a lie in these days and seem to get thru the day doing Jack sh*t and still in my pj's when hubby walks thru the door at 4pm lol! Hope the back is getting better.

Still not bloody set up on internet yet, its taking forever! SGould be live by the weekend (she says!)

Nice to hear from you Purple, I'm planning on organising a christening in the new year. I'm fretting already about who to ask as Godparents without upsetting someone. How many have you asked? Whats the norm these days?

Well, Jackson is coming on leaps and bounds, smiling loads and has really found his voice making the most funny cat type noises ha! Hoping he will start to put on more weight now he's having more formula, certainly feels heavier and his cheeks are getting chubby, cant wait till his legs get porky, they resemble a little chicken at the moment. And he's still only in 0-3 months, he's such a little chap bless!

Speak soon, hope everyone else is doing good x

sarahSILVERbells · 21/11/2006 19:34

BHM - love the website! I'm a big Meatloaf fan and have seen the man himself lots of times when he comes to the Sheffield Arena.

Micku5 · 21/11/2006 20:06

I was going to do a nice long message but dd1 has decided to join me at the computer so it will have to be short and sweet.

Luna and Dreamy, I am sorry to hear your news about your mums. I don't see my mum a lot because she lives abroad, when I read your messages I had to give her a call just to chat.

Both girls are unwell atm, both with bad colds. Unfortunately Talia's seems to have been made worse because it looks as though she is teething. (She has red cheeks and keeps sticking her fingers in her mouth to chew on them)

One bit of good news though, have finally got someone in to help with the ironing. I cannot keep on with it (also have to admit it's a chore I hate doing) so any help before Christmas is greatly appreciated.

I have to go and give the girls their karvol steamed showers now because DH is watching the footie.

eenysugarplumfairy · 21/11/2006 20:46

BHM love the pictures!! Thanks for showing us! You look like you have a lot of fun! Well Alex sort of weaned himself off the breast cold turkey. One day he just started refusing to suck on it. I still manage to feed him once a day just because I cant bear to let it go but other than that he is formula fed. Oh well there are worse things in life!

Micku sorry your girls are sick! Hope they get better soon.

purpleturtle · 21/11/2006 22:55

BHM, each of ours have 2 couples as godparents. Traditionally you choose 2 godfathers and 1 godmother for a boy, and the other way round for a girl. It's completely down to you though, my goddaughter has 6 godparents, and if you wanted I'm sure you could just have one.

PinkTinsel · 21/11/2006 23:14

you mad prossies! 6 godparents! the child must be falling over them!

sorry am finding that oddly hilarious, us boring catholics only have 2 one man and one woman, traditionally one from each side of the family. lucky kids must be spoilt rotten though...... wonder what father dan would say if i added a few more......

haven't even begun to think about calebs christening, the debacle that was dd's has pretty much converted me to paganism, lol!

your band looks fab bhm, you and your sister are gorgeous! do you travel alot with them or is it mostly local gigs?

hope the girls are feeling a bit better after the karvol micku, poor mites. everyone seems to have gotten a cold over the last few weeks

i think calebs wel and truely teething, had to give hi some neurofen tonight as he was in screaming agony, never seen him like that before he's dozed off on the couch now after having a little giggling fit once the painrelief kicked in

SparklyfestiveYellowFeathers · 22/11/2006 08:25

ROFL Pinky @ mad prossies
You sound like my FIL.
Apparently I'll be the only one in our family not going to heaven because I'm not Catholic lol!

We'll be having my BIL and his new missus as Ellis godparents. Apart from my own parents, there would be no one else I would rather have to guide and be with my children. They're great role models and the kids love them.

BHM, just looked at your website. Is that you in the black dress on the latest photos? You look fab!

SL, sorry to hear about Mollys jaw. You were brave going there. I'd have had to send dh to do that kind of thing.

Eeny, sorry to hera about your car. That sucks. You can g'tee things like that happen to us either this time of year or when we have a load of things to pay. Its like someones watching you and making it happen for a cheap laugh
We started to have the child benefit payments put into a savings account and just letting it accumulate. So when the car needs servicing, MOT, Insuring etc, the money is there and we dont have to panic about it.

Micku, hope your girls are better soon.
Football sucks doesnt it. Dh declared this morning that he will be going to bed early tonight and getting up at midnight so that he can watch the cricket! Bonus on my part, that means I get the bed all to myself and he can do the 6am feed with Ellis

Thanks for the ideas about the food. Its a great idea but she has moved in with her mum and her mum has now taken leave from work to look after her and the baby. So I think she'll be sorted.
I think I'll give her a bit of space and call her at the end of the week.
I didnt realise yesterday but when she said he hasnt got long left, I think they mean within the week or so
Feel so much for her right now.

Ellis has his next lot of jabs tomorrow but I'm sending dh. I'll be waiting at home to give cuddles when they get back! I've also got my second session of CBT in the afternoon. I think I'm going to ask about taking some meds. Things dont seem to be easing up and I cant see the CBT working properly until I can control things.
Anyway, we'll see what she says tomorrow. Got a feeling she'll tell me to bog off lol.

olivhohoho · 22/11/2006 10:18

YF - DO ask about some meds - i had ADs along with my CBt- was on them for about 6 months but between the two, they certainly did the job.

hi to everyone -sorry, no real time to read the posts - taking dd for her vaccinations

catch up later!

dreaminofawhitexmas · 22/11/2006 10:32

good morning everyone and thankyou for all your thoughts and prayers. I hope Caleb is feeling better soon pink. Poor you eeny I know we are really struggling this xmas havent even started shopping for presents yet Im starting to feel really tired and stressed too but my pnd edingburgh score was fine yesterday goodness knows how with everything thats been happening lately. There is always someone worse off than you though and Im so sorry for your friend sparkly I knew someone a couple of years back when I was teaching in Liverpool whose husban died not long after her baby was born it was so awful and there isnt really much else that I can suggest that hasnt already been mentioned just being there for her to talk to is the best you can give. The whole tooth fairy thing and santa is great isnt it I love to see their little faces light up but creeping into rooms with stockings and money is the greatest bit. Hope your girls are feeling better too Micku Im sooo jealous of your ironing lady and vote we all send ours to her whilst you still have her hope everyone else is ok and will try to catch all the regulars on msn later xxxx

sarahSILVERbells · 22/11/2006 16:14

Booby - I take Molly. Don't mind really as I took Jack when he needed them. It's all over in a matter of seconds, she soon stops crying when the dummy is produced!!

Re christening - I am being pressured by both sets of grandparents to book it! With Jack, he was nearly a year old but they seem to want girls to be christened much earlier (probably so they can wear a christening dress YUK). Jack has got 2 godfathers and 2 god mothers and Molly will probably have the same. I don't think it matters this day and age, as long as the people you are asking really would care for the kids if anything did happen (hope not).
