Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
olivhohoho · 22/11/2006 17:42

I'm just a total wuss when it comes to watching them give people injections although i dont mind having them myself! dd was good though and didnt cry, she seems ok now but didnt sleep till half an hour ago so not sure what she'll be like later!

re christenings, not sure if we will get dd christened - i am a sporadic churchgoer, mostly intend to go but am too disorganised! interseting to read what you all do for godparents - we have asked dh's brother and his wife to be dd's legal guardians if something nasty should happen to both of us, but i dont think we'd ask them to be godparents.

booby - i'm trying to stock up some ebm but am finding it hard as i only get about 2oz at a time and try to give dd some every night. i've started expressing (i use via cups as well) at night once she is in bed as she gets a small bottle of ebm at 10ish,any extra i get goes into the freezer for when i need it.

MrsChristmasboo · 22/11/2006 22:58

Just popping in to say hi all. Haven't read anything yet, will attempt to soon.

Am i the only one struggling to even talk???? Haven't left the house for days apart from the school runs and really don't feel in the mood to see anyone. Have been ignoring my phone as it seems to be taking all my energy just to answer it....

jingleboobs · 22/11/2006 23:45

snow im sending you a cyber hug is there no one local to you to talk too or give you a break

olivio that was my general plan but didnt know if ther was a trick to it so to speak

hope everyone is fine and bhm it is an olan mills watch me grow

SparklyfestiveYellowFeathers · 23/11/2006 08:15

SnowB, I've seen you logged onto Msn at times but you've always had busy or away on you so I never buzz.
I'm virtually always there so if you do want to chat, regardless of my status online, just give me a buzz.

Olivo, CBT is this afternoon so I will ask about it. She did say anyway that if she thought things werent getting better that she would suggest it. Either way I'll find out later. Was it Citralopam you were on?

olivhohoho · 23/11/2006 08:25

snowboo - hope you are ok. come on here and chat when you can.

YF - i was on seroxat - i think there was some bad press about it at one time but i was on it several times and it really did the job. incidentally, once i took it and had the cbt, i've not had to again. wish someone had suggested the cbt the first time i took it! good luck.

booby - good luck at building up your stash - i had a pumping frenzy yesterday and still only got enough for two feeds!!

hope everyone else is ok - BHM - cool pics!!

last baby massage class today - dd seems unscathed by yesterdays injections so will hopefully be a chilled out baby all day...fingers crossed

lunavix · 23/11/2006 08:48

I'm rubbish with expressing.

Ds had five god parents - my 2 best friends dh 2 best friends and BIL.

DD will have six (gasp) dh has insisted on one of my best friends and his 2 again, (I'm not actually talking to my other best friend any more) plus his best friend from school, plus BIL again, plus my dads fiance. Poor child! Her christening is this Sunday.

Snow I had to force myself to leave the house. I don't drive so normally I walk everywhere, and as ds was potty trained in july and dd is bf, I really didn't have the energy to go out (could imagine dd hollering for food, ds screaming for toilet and me in a heap sobbing!)

But ds started preschool (which is a 30min walk) so now twice a week I have to go out, and I spend the morning with a friend who had a baby 2 weeks ago (nice with no toddlers!) then the other 3 days I spend the morning at a local drop in with other friends. Now I've got back into the habit again, I don't like staying in. But it was touch and go for a while as to whether I'd see daylight again!

eenysugarplumfairy · 23/11/2006 08:49

Snow I have times like that as well where I cant bear seeing anyone. I am on antidepressents and it is helping somewhat. The dosage I am taking has just been doubled. Come on here or msn and chat to us!

Yellow I would recommend ADs I know now I couldnt be without them!

Its interesting hearing you all talk about Christenings... we arent getting Alex Christened. We arent religious at all. I do however want to decide who would take him if something horrible happened to us.

Every time Alex has jabs me and Sal go together. I always feel like I am betraying Alex's trust when I take him

Pink I hope Caleb is better now!

pucca · 23/11/2006 09:05

Hi everyone

Sorry i not posted for a while, well we got George christened last month and it was lovely.

I am a bit midered (sp?) today as it is his 2nd lot of injections, they have obviously left it a good while in between due to his reaction last time, i am dreading it, appointment is 10.15am > hopefully he will be fine this time though...

With his 1st lot, his temp went ridiculously high, and he went very listless, ended up on childrens ward.

Need to catch up with this thread, which will prob take me forever lol.

Will be interesting to see what George weighs today, not had him weighed for 6 weeks and last time he was 14lb 8oz.

olivhohoho · 23/11/2006 09:12

good luck pucca.

lunavix · 23/11/2006 09:24

good luck pucca and george

eeny, I'm not at all religious. The reason I've had my lot christened is for a) an introduction to the family - meeting the old crusties they haven't had a chance to see beforehand and have a party especially to celebrate them (as in the baby) being here and being a part of us
and b) incase I'm wrong and Christianity is the correct answer to that old 'why am i here' question

eenysugarplumfairy · 23/11/2006 09:43

luna - LOL at the thing, maybe christianity is right! haha I guess it makes sense to cover yourself!

Pucca good luck with your jabs!

sarahSILVERbells · 23/11/2006 09:52

Eeny - both me and my brother and my husband and his sister were christened and it is sort of expected for Molly. I myself, would leave it, but husband and family would prefer if I christened her so that she can then make her own decisions later???? Me myself, I don't believe in any of that higher being crap (sorry to devout christians everywhere!!). Once we're dead - we're dead. Personally, I think we were put on this planet by aliens who are so shocked at what we have evolved into, that they have run away and decided to leave us to it! But as I say, that is my view and everyone is entitled to their own (just in case I offend somewhere here, like I normally do ! )

eenysugarplumfairy · 23/11/2006 09:58

Sarah - LOL at the aliens! I love it!!! I'll join that bandwagon!

olivhohoho · 23/11/2006 10:42

wondering if you can help me! flying over to england next week for a couple of days and will be doing some serious shopping!! where do you suggest i look for cheap and cheerful clothes/toys for dd and dnephew?

PinkTinsel · 23/11/2006 10:47

sarah lou.... have you been talking to my mom. she's a firm believer in the aliens thing too!

i'm pretty much a non believer too but i think having been raised catholic did me no harm and gave me a good basis for making my own decisions regarding belief as a teenager. i feel it's better to be raised the wrong religion than no religion at all.

i'm a bit hippyish really, i see all churches of any religion as sacred places where one can communicate more closely with the gods and therefore although i don't strictly belive the catholic teachings, i believe dd is still blessed and protected for having been baptised.

also, for the catholic church the act of christening is as much about welcoming the child into the community as invoking religion upon them, which is why i traveled to my parents parish to christen dd

pucca, i'll have my fingers crossed for george. i hope he's ok.

snow, msn me whenever you need, like feathers ignore my status as i'm always close to the pc so can usually respond

dreaminofawhitexmas · 23/11/2006 10:48

lol sarah I can just imagine them looking down on us and laughing like the smash aliens

dreaminofawhitexmas · 23/11/2006 10:52

how exciting olivo where are you staying? there are lots of really good places to shop depending on where you are staying

SparklyfestiveYellowFeathers · 23/11/2006 11:05

Olivo, where will you be going? I like to think I'm a bit of a dab hand when it comes to shopping lol.
If your in London you need Melsy. She pointed me in the right direction for shopping there.

I'm just sat waiting for dh to bring Ellis back from his Jabs. Was thinking of taking them swimming this afternoon after CBT but not sure if its such a good idea for Ellis.

We've found the one and only catholic church in our town. Its called Sacred Heart which I thought was nice. Just waiting for dh to call the preist.
I'll probably be talking about this christening this time next year!

PinkTinsel · 23/11/2006 11:06

snort, you'll find it hard to beat my 17 months feathers. or my aunts 3 years before she cot dc done!

SparklyfestiveYellowFeathers · 23/11/2006 11:07

Olivo, just thinking. Basic places to look out for wherever you are going are H&M - gorgeous kids and adults clothes. A bit different but very reasonable.

lunavix · 23/11/2006 11:16

sacred heart is the name of the hospital in scrubs

I love that show!

BigHotMama · 23/11/2006 12:33

Yippee!! Guess who's got broadband, its so fast! Just gonna catch up on the posts x

BigHotMama · 23/11/2006 12:56

Olivo I love Pumpkin Patch for kids clothes, really lovely stuff there and not pricey at all. Where you staying?

Yellow, yep thats me in the black dress looking very heavily pregnant lol, that was my last gig before I broke up for mat leave lol and my feet were bursting out my shoes from the swelling.

Pink, we mainly stay local but are hoping to set up 2 weeks gigs in Dubai in April next year, all expenses paid and I can take my DH and Jackson along with me, really hope it hapens as Dubai is meant to be a great place for babies, apparently its really clean and they have travel cots on the flights which makes it a lot easier. We'll see! Hope Caleb's teething isnt too bad bless him!

Eeny was it you who mentioned the baby whisper routine? I've tried it on Jackson and so far its working a treat during the day, I always used to feed him but have now realised he gets grouchy for a kip but needs to be rocked to sleep bless him! Hows Alex doing?

Jackson had his 2nd jabs the other day and the HV told me these would hurt as he didnt cry for the 1st lot, guess what he didnt cry again this time only a few moans after the 2nd one. Booby I took him on my own both times and will for the 3rd lot too but I had to look away though.

Well I've finally got off my butt and have gone back to Slimming World in an attempt to lose a stone for xmas and so far am doing really well. Not feeling hungry either, can eat so much its fab! Missing my choc though .

Pucca, what did George wear for his big day then? Not sure where to start looking for christening outfits?

Lol Sarah at your Aliens idea!

Snow, hope your ok chick, you sound a bit down, sometimes you need to get out the house and its hard to get motivated at times, I hate getting Jackson ready to go out as he doesnt like being dressed and screams when I put his coat, hat and mits on, it really stresses me out and I get all flushed. Cant you meet up with a friend? Or maybe get some time out and get a babysitter and go pamper yourself with a massage?

jingleboobs · 23/11/2006 13:02
