Would be great to get to share stuff with other new mums. Couldnt see a thread out there for this already.

So hows it going? What you expected? Feeling like a zombie most of the time? I still cant believe I've even had a child - am i normal?

Hope all feb babes are well. Mine is now walking for about a week. He started almost exactly the same time as ds1 (now 5). really head strong and has no worries about going towards other children and trying to take their dummies or pull hair. It is really embarassing sometimes because you take him by the hand to lead him elsewhere and he really kicks off.
For his birthday we bought him a train that goes round in a circle or up and down bumps and I am getting him a "High 5" DVD (on milkdshake Channel 5 ) he is glued to it. He dances to the songs and is even glued to the role playing scenes in between. Not getting him any more toys he has so many from christmas so I have told family to buy him some clthes for Spring/Summer or what money they would spend on a toy write him a cheque and I'll put it in his account. We will probably have a family get together at MIL we did this for ds1 with cake music and pictrures. He has enough cousins to fill the room up so it should be really nice.

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 02/02/2005 19:39

so Ghosty and bee3 will have one year olds tomorrow! Anyone else?

hazlinh · 03/02/2005 05:46

dd will be one on feb 11!! she started walking independently this past week or so. at first it was just a couple of steps but now she's walking freely.
still haven't figured out what to do for the big day...ppl seem to celebrate with huge parties but some friends have said that's a bad idea..she'll nap or cry or be cranky...any suggestions? we just thot we'd have a day out, just the 3 of us, take her for a sesh at gymboree, maybe a picnic or a swim with some nice yummy snacks..and maybe a cake with the grandparents and the four cousins? did contemplate for a split second a massive do with tons of friends and their little ones but dont know if its worth the effort!! envision loads of screaming babs, including mine, and spilt drinks over my furniture LOL!!!and miserable dads

bee3 · 03/02/2005 08:21

I can't believe my baby ds is ONE today !

Couldn't sleep last night - my mind was running over this time last year, lying in bed telling dh I had funny sort of periody pains, then waking next morning and sending him to work as I just felt niggly. Poor dh then got a phone call at about 10am telling him to come home now,and then ds had arrived by 5.00pm! I will never forget.

Have just spent 1/2 hour playing with balloons and pop-out tunnel in the living room. Poor ds very snotty, but seems to be enjoying himself. Off to the ball park with friends this afternoon, then tea with just dh and me at home (I've even made some little cakes - really not like me, but felt the effort should be made...).

Very Happy Birthday to Ghosty's dd. And to any other Feb 04 babes over the next few days. Have a wondeful time

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 11/02/2005 22:58

I am beginning to appreciate that I am the only one celebrating Feb birthdays, but this does not dissuade me. We have had a lovely day today. Lunch with BF and family, godparents dropping by, lots of pressies and my sisters etc coming by tomorrow. Hope the rest of you Feb 11th babes have had a wonderful day. I shall restrain myself and not post on this thread again before someone else does.

ghosty · 11/02/2005 23:29

Marslady .... Happy birthday to your DTs
I always miss this thread as it is never in active conversations ...
We celebrated DD's birthday last week, DH was at work and DS was at school so DD and I went swimming and out for lunch then on the Friday she had her little coffee group friends round for a birthday tea (well, rather a birthday 'let's all throw food around the floor' party!)
She was so excited when we lit the candle on her cake and sang happy birthday, it was so sweet ... she was smiling at everyone and then burying her head in my neck pretending to be shy .... soooooooooo cute!
I can't believe she is one .... she still looks so much like a baby, bumshuffling around and with no hair yet ... but she did get her 4th tooth on her birthday .... bless xxxxxxxxxx
Happy birthday to all other Feb babies xxx

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 11/02/2005 23:42

Thank you Ghosty

I'm not alone. It sounds like you and babyGhost had a lovely day. I'm so glad. My DTs are walking. Can you believe it? Lots of hair on both of their heads. Need to cut DT2's hair. It's very long and curly like his older brother's. DT1's hair looks like she has stuck her finger in an electrical socket. I've started to put a bobble in it so that it looks like it's meant to stand upright lol. DT1 said hallelujah last week. They both love watching something special on CBeebies. They wave at Justin and they laugh at Mr Tumble. They are adorable puppies. Make me smile all day (when I'm not threatening to put them up for adoption because they are teething )

ghosty · 11/02/2005 23:52

Awwwww, bless .... love the image of DT1's hair!!!
Walking ... wow!!!! Clever old DT's ....
My DD's words are 'Daddy', DS' name, 'Didit' (but with the 't' dropped at the end) which means dummy, 'Moo' (for anything on 4 legs) and 'Ta'. She just won't say Mummy .... she did for a while but then stopped
She is doing everything later than DS did but I am not that fussed.

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 11/02/2005 23:57

I think that DT1 is going to talk before DT2. She mimics words and sounds really clearly. DT2 is far too busy smiling, clapping and walking. DT2 started walking first, but DT1 moved from cruising to walking faster iykwim. Their best friend is a bum shuffler. He has absolutely no intention of standing, rolling over or crawling. I love this stage. They are just so cute and can't quite talk back.

ghosty · 12/02/2005 00:09

I know what you mean about the not talking back.
DH wants another baby but after an argument with DS (5) today I reminded him that all babies turn into stroppy kids and that one day DD will be shouting "Stupid Daddy" to DH too

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 12/02/2005 00:16

Now come on Ghosty. Can't let those of us with big families down now can you? What's one more little baby huh? huh? huh? You know you want one. Tee hee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ghosty · 12/02/2005 00:18

Norty Marslady, norty!!!!!
I told you, it was just a phase, I am NOT having another baby, AM NOT, AM NOT, AM NOT .......
No, definitely not, not ever ever ever ever ...
Do you hear me?

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 12/02/2005 00:20

Methinks she doth protest too much

ghosty · 12/02/2005 00:23

I can't hear you, I can't hear you ....

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 12/02/2005 00:25

let's just see what happens in the next 6 months shall we? When your DD is being incredibly cute and chatty and you think, I want another one of those. We'll see.... we'll see

bee3 · 12/02/2005 22:31

Marslady, so sorry I missed your DTs day without leaving a message (Titania's too?).

ALL Feb babies - HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY!

hazlinh · 14/02/2005 09:19

MunchedTooMany MarsLady: thank you, and HOPE your DTs had a LOVELY First birthday!! and also
Heymissytoe's dd, Titania's DS2, Bea's DS and Busybee's DS2 and all february babies!!

Sorry haven't posted in a while...but have no internet access at home for the mo so can only surf at work!!

We had a lovely swim-party for DD..and we had a nice winnie the pooh cake for her, and we lighted a candle and all that, but she didn't seem that much interested, she was more interested in chewing the life out of her winnie the pooh paper hat!!!

she's walking now, and its just so amazing how clever they are when they are so small!! taught her how to climb down the edge of the bed the other day and she understood immediately and did it herself the next time without any guidance!
she loves to play with switches tho i've told her not to every single time, she'll turn lights on and off just to see, and she loves to switch the telly on and off,and she loves to eat paper, it's just not funny!

her favourite word is da-da and duck. like ghosty's, she used to be able to say mum and mama but she's stopped!! oh well, gives me a great excuse to say she wants her dad to , oh, feed her, change her nappy, give her a bath, take her to the swimming pool....the list is endless!!!!

Munchedtoo many mars, my dd is actually talking back. well not really, but whenevr i say NO or DONT DO THAT eg if she's going to hit that switch or play with somewiring, she always looks back defiatnly at me and schrieks something that sounds vaguely like "why not?!You cant stop me!!"
god help us when they turn 16

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 14/02/2005 23:47

Funny how quickly they learn to "answer" back. The DTs are both walking all the time. DT1 sings a lot and DT2 just keeps smiling and playing with wires. DT1 is far too diddy to be walking

BabyHare · 15/02/2005 19:54

Hi all

My little one is ONE tomorrow! (16th Feb) He is just lovely (apart from doing a POO in the bath tonight!) He is NEARLY walking and says "Ball" and "poopoo" and "Mumumumumum" but not so much " dadadada" anymore (not that pleases DH much!)

We are having a party on Saturday pm with friends and champers! and then a family one next week!

This exact time last year, I was in established labour but took til 12.29 am to push him out!

OUCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

MarsLady · 16/02/2005 19:33

Happy Birthday Baby Babyhare. Hope today has been wonderful for you.

bea · 17/02/2005 16:06

happy b'day feb babies... ds was 1 on the 11th! freaking me out at how fast they are growing...

now we have reached the magic number of 1... have you all stopped sterilising bottles? (if bottle feeding!) and how are you moving them onto cows milk? dd never went on the bottle you see... just weaned herself off boob feeds at about 12 months and then she just went straight onto cows milk no probs... ds seems to be still eagerly drinking formula... i thought he might have started cutting down by now but still seems to take it... any ideas?

MarsLady · 18/02/2005 13:56

We've stopped sterilising (I think we stopped a while ago) and we are still using formula for the night feeds. We're beginning to introduce cow's milk. It's funny because we know that we can happily put them on cow's milk etc we're not overly bothered. I imagine we'll get through this tin and probably won't buy anymore, though DT1 has some ezcema and I may delay putting her on cow's milk. Don't ask why, just what I'm thinking.

Can't believe how fast this first year has gone. I tried to hold back time, but of course it flew by anyway. It's lovely seeing them toddle about and to watch their distinct personalities grow. I keep meaning to get them weighed just to know where they are at at the moment. No worries, just nosey. Ah DT1 awake. Time to go, for now.
