Hi

I'm new to this, having just had 1st dd 8 wks ago (Valentines Day).

Would be great to get to share stuff with other new mums. Couldnt see a thread out there for this already.

So hows it going? What you expected? Feeling like a zombie most of the time? I still cant believe I've even had a child - am i normal?

hello everyone!! ds2 is 19 weeks old now. Born on 11th Feb.

fernyburn · 29/06/2004 19:44

LOL
Is there ever a good time to have another baby ??

I want my 2 to be close in age, my husband is a good deal older than me, so time is important.

I know its going to be hard... but...you cope because you have to. Im hoping around august to start trying, then dd will be around 16 months old then.

I had a great pregnancy (although I put on over 3 stone...) easy birth so I dont fear any of that.

Yes running around after a toddler will be hard, when your huge, but there will be stress when ever the next one is planned....

just my 2ps worth

busybee123 · 29/06/2004 19:47

fernyburn i have 3 kids under 4 and a half......would have another one tomorrow!!

Hayls · 29/06/2004 22:53

Fernyburn I'm really sorry if I came across as rude, I honestly didn't mean to!! I think it's brilliant that you feel ready to do it all again and I am a bit jealous. ALthough my pg and birth weren't overly traumatic I just can't face thinking about it yet but I'm sure I will eventually forget all about it and be ready to do it again. And like you say it'll be hard work no matter what age they are! Again, hope I didn't come across too rude (dd still nowhere near sleeping thro so brainis always a bit fuddled). Good luck!

cuppy · 29/06/2004 23:43

I know what you mean Ferny - if I fell pg tomorrow that'd be fine by me! I would just regret not having more time alone with dd1.

DD still not rolling but trying her best. She has started to wake twice in the night now - roughly 12 and 4 and wants to be fed both times. What do you all think - should she be able to go from 7pm - 6am with no milk yet?? She is on 2/3 meals a day so she cant really be hungry - I'm sure it must be habit.

fernyburn · 30/06/2004 11:10

Hi Hayls

no i didnt think you were rude at all, I know alot of people who think im mad !!!!

dont really know what to say cuppy.

my dd (18 weeks) now has 5 x 6 oz bottles and 1 feed in the afternoon which is usually about 6 x ice cubrs of potato and veg and 3 of fruit (she is a real piggy porker 17 pounds and on the 93 centile) but she sleeps from 8pm to 6.30 every night.

I guess I am really lucky, she has slept like this since 10 weeks.
Im going to up her bottles and try to feed her less... so may end up with the same problem...

take care

busybee123 · 30/06/2004 11:14

my ds2 aged 19 weeks keeps waking up at one and wont go back down!!! had a horrendous night last night!!

cuppy · 30/06/2004 11:59

Busy - do you feed your ds when we wakes in the night? DD woke last night at 11pm and wouldnt go back to sleep - dh fed her.

OP posts:
busybee123 · 30/06/2004 12:01

he wont take it...i try but he just screams

Hayls · 30/06/2004 23:52

Cuppy, you might remember my previous threads! My dd still wakes twice most nights. Last night she went down at 7 then woke at 10 for a feed then again at 4. This is pretty usual so you're not alone. She still has 5/6 bf per day and 3 meals of about 4 ice cubes each time so I don't think it's hunger but it's sooo easy jsut to feed quickly and back to sleep!

scrumpy · 01/07/2004 00:04

Hi only just seen this thread can I join?

cuppy · 01/07/2004 16:01

Hayls, thanks , now I know its quite normal I feel much happier ( and the fact that she slept till 4am this morning helps too)

Had to post today to tell you .......... she did it ! she rolled over!! It was great - she was on her back - i looked up to speak to my friend - and when I looked back she was on her tummy!!
She did nt even get her arm stuck - she just pulled irt straight out and leant up like a lizard.

Of course she got hundreds of kisses!!!!

Well done cuppy's dd
My dd has managed to roll over once about a week ago but nothing since so it may have been a fluke or it might have been because she was in the nude after bath time. Maybe it's too difficult for her with a nappy on?
She has been really grumpy for the last week or so but I discovered the other day that she has both her bottom front teeth coming through. Feel justified in giving her calpol now.

Hayls · 08/07/2004 22:12

Cuppy, it's lovely, sin't it!! dd now does it all the time then gets bored on her front after a couple of minutes and squeals until you turn her over again. ONly thing is that as soon as you turn her over within seconds she's on her back again!

She has a tooth! It's been coming through for a week now and is almost totally through. It's affecting her more at night as I think during the day she has other things to distract her. JUst getting on with Teetha, Bonjela and Anbesol( had never heard of it before but it is really excellent)

Hope everybody is OK.

cuppy · 03/08/2004 20:51

Hi everyone - how are all your beautiful babies?

My dd is still the best thing in the world, and we got her christened on Sunday - she slept through it all!

Just enjoying two weeks off work with her - we bought a framed back pack carrier and she loves it - she pats me on the head! And I tokk her out on the back of my bike today so tomoorow Im going to buy her a helmet - its so much fun being a mum - I love it x

Hello everyone. How are you and your babies all doing. It seems such a long time since I posted on this thread, in fact it's a luxury to get on the computer at all these days , and so much has happened since then.
DD is now on three meals a day, but doesn't have a particularly great appetite. Have tried to make her a few home-made things but unfortunately she usuallly gets something out of a jar or packet . I have had successes with home-made pear and banana and strawberry and banana purees - brocolli was a definite no-no though . She also likes to chew on toast or rusks.
She is sitting up unsupported for ages and tries to either move onto all fours or to shuffle on her bottom. She is desparate to be on the move and God help us all when she is.
Hope you're all doing well and that the Feb babies are thriving.

Titania · 18/08/2004 17:04

hi. my ds2 was born feb 11th. he is a cutie and eats anything and everything. he is on 3 solid meals a day plus rice cakes!! he has taken to a beaker really well, unlike my others. He has taken to chewing his feet as well!! He has given up rolling over and instead, lays on his back, digs his heels into the floor and shuffles along on his back!!! he is so cute and i love the first smile of the morning i get when i go into get him! he is a little star. he was very colicky and restless for a while but that seems to have settled now. He is about 17lb in weight now so doing ok!!

funnytype · 19/08/2004 13:12

Hi there,

My daughter Isabella was born on 19th February but was due on Valentines Day. She is having 3 meals a day plus 6oz milk as still weaning I am not giving her too much as only started giving 3 meals this week. I am thinking of reducing to 40z of milk and hoping she will have more solids, do u think that will be ok? She also teething, has one tooth through and another coming through. By the way I am a first time mum if u didnt guess!

Titania · 19/08/2004 13:32

i think my hv said that ds (born 11th feb) needs about 25 fl oz of milk a day. He doesnt have thta much in bottles, but has plenty of formula in things like potatos and on cereal

cuppy · 21/08/2004 22:27

My dd is having 3 meals and has 3x8oz milk , in addition to petit filous, custard etc. Does that help anyone? oh and she 20lbs!!!! she 27 weeks.

Titania - SNAP! my ds was born on 11th feb too!, 10 days early... 1 hour and 15 mins labour, couldn't get to hospital, had him in the hallway, delivered by dh, via talking to paramedics over the phone, assisted by old schoolfriend who lives nearby, with dd blissfully sleeping upstairs (throughout the whole episode i was shusshing dh and friend as i was concerned that friends frantic running up and down stairs to find clean towels (thankfully the kettle did not need boiling!) would wake her up! - so i was told!)

ds is a little monkey, a terror as he likes to be held a lot! and gets very vocal if is not being paid attention too! - who said second babies are a lot more laid back!!!, it is impossible to get anything done in the house - but then again he makes up for it as he is incredibley cute!, goes to bed at 6am and does not make a peep unitil 5am for a quick top up and down again until 7ish! Bliss!

I must confess i never really intended to join this thread as i tend to get a bit frantic if someone else's baby is doing something mine isn't! rolling? sort of but not really! likes thumping his feet on the ground instead! and can squiggle in all directions!... but thought i would join in as dh is glued to match of the day!!!

Hello feb '04 mums! (Dh got a little bit anxious then as i told him i was joing the Feb '04 thread... thought i wasn't telling him something... the fool thought i said Feb '05!!!

chatee · 22/08/2004 09:09

just thouht i'd say a quick hello, my ds was born 26th Feb and like your ds bea he is not rolling but enjoys thumping his feet....he loves his food(except mango and passion fruit)and is still breast feeding but has managed two bottles from dh in the last week!(oh to get rid off my ebm in the freezer)it is dd's 4th birthday this week and i'm supposed to be wrapping the pass the parcel.....not on mumsnet-must dash before i'm caught
love to everyone with those cheeky february babes

WidgetWB · 17/09/2004 10:00

Having just joined I thought I would add something to the conversation for September! My Ds was born on 27th Feb and that makes him about 6 1/2 months now. We are still not rolling really, sitting happily and has been since he was 5 months, and desparately trying to crawl which is making him really frustrated and perfectly horrid!

Started a thread under parenting about my problem with angry frustrated baby which all who replied have been fantastic about helping me - what an excellent website this is!

Basically ds was the perfect Gina baby, totally 100% contented, smiled all day long, laughs, never ever cries, eats well, sleeps so much, etc etc - I can hear you all groaning - really sorry but its true! But now - suddenly he has changed into the most horrendous whineing, whingeing, crying, non sleeping, nasty boy and I have no idea why! Many in Parenting said it could be teething, which it could be but there are no other signs, could be that I changed onto Progress Milk because I thought I was supposed to - but apparently now I am told it is all a marketing ploy and I didn't need to at all, could also be that he is trying to crawl and some babies are unsettled whilst dramatic changes are implementing themselves - like learning to crawl, and he is just grumpy about it!

He makes it to all his meal times quite happily as he always has done, but when we sit in the high chair he goes into a frantic manic rush and panic if I don't get the food in fast enough or stop for a second etc! What is that about - its as if I have never ever fed him in his life and he hasn't seen food for ten years! Again - a new thing?! As am still on Gina we have milk in the morning with breakfast, lunch with water, 2.30 milk after sleep, supper at 5pm with water and milk at 6.30 after bath, then bed at 7pm!

So - does anyone else have an wise ideas as we all have the same age babies? Does anybody else have Feb babies with sudden serious temper tantrums? And does anyone else have any suggestions or likewise stories that they may have sorted out with number 1 baby?

Hi all

My ds born 16th February this year and is now 7 months old!!

He is sitting up now really really well, nearly crawling, standing up holding onto tables and things and is just the cutest little thing EVER!

He is on three meals a day, loves his food and is now drinking from a cup!

I have a 13 year old dd as well who is a lovely big sis and a really great babysitter!!!
