Hi

I'm new to this, having just had 1st dd 8 wks ago (Valentines Day).

Would be great to get to share stuff with other new mums. Couldnt see a thread out there for this already.

So hows it going? What you expected? Feeling like a zombie most of the time? I still cant believe I've even had a child - am i normal?

Hello everyone,
nice to hear how all your toddlers are doing
Dd has decided to 'hit' the terrible twos a bit early. Took her into work yesterday in the feeble hope of showing her off, but she went into melt down throwing herself on the carpet and sobbing and wailing uncontrollably , until one of my colleagues gave her a chocolate biscuit. Then she was all smiles.
But, when she's good she's lovely and she was on top form on holiday despite being terrified of sand and surviving for the week on milk and sweets.
Still not saying very much, but since she could only manage about two words a month or so, the little she says now is a big improvment.
Love her to bits though

MarsLady · 13/08/2005 19:52

hi tabitha, good to "see" you!

MarsLady · 20/10/2005 21:19

So... ladies.....how are your 20 month olds doing?

tabitha · 17/11/2005 23:00

Hi Marslady
my (now) 21 month old - doesn't time fly [wink[ is doing fine. How your your twins.
Latest trick is 'beating up' her big brother (aged 8!) and then roaring with laughter. She is no lady

MarsLady · 18/11/2005 00:01

hi tabitha

My darling DTs are terrible, gorgeous, awful and wonderful all at the same time.

They start playgroup in January. I've been taking them once a week to visit it. They love it there.

DT1 is rabbiting on all the time. DT2 just grins and has finally worked out how to say nose lol.

Their latest trick is to go to bed for their morning nap, drink the bottles of milk, fling them from their beds and then throw out all the bedding, strip naked and throw all of their clothes out as well. Then they call.... MummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmMMeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! Until I cave and go in. They look at me, grin and stay up until about 3.30 when they fall into an exhausted heap! The joys the joys!

How goes it with you?

ghosty · 18/11/2005 00:28

I haven't posted on here for ages ...
Hello all
DD (3/2/04) is growing up so quickly. She is at the same time both an absolute joy and a menace!
Terrible twos hit around 18 months which was a bit of a shock for me as my DS didn't really have the terrible twos (or if he did I have blocked it from my memory!)
She is very friendly and funny ... says 'Herro' to everyone she passes in the street, followed by a wave and a 'bye bye'! She goes up to old ladies in the supermarket and holds up her hand saying, 'Hand, hand' until they hold her hand and walk for a bit with her ...
She has so much energy ... is very busy which is great but at the same time is tiring ... she regularly floods the bathroom since she worked out how to turn the taps on ... she has eaten two of my lipsticks (sadly not the cheap ones, only the nice clinique ones ... at least she has good taste!), she has lost one of our phones, the house is a complete tip as I am sick of following her around picking stuff up. The burgled look isn't only trendy in twin households you know ML
She recently started at a creche for two mornings a week which she and I both love ... she spends all her time alternating between painting (on paper, furniture, her clothes, her face, other people) and washing her hands. I think she might end up being a famous artist with some kind of compulsive disorder ... I spend those mornings either being parent help in DS' classroom or chilling out at home with coffee and a book (still not picking up the mess .... I do have standards you know!)

She still doesn't have much hair but it is thickening up slowly. It is a lovely colour, sort of strawberry blond which can look ginger in some lights. Her big dark brown eyes make her look quite unusual really!

This week we have had, "Ooh, look at him run!" and "Oh, he's a busy little fella isn't he?" and "How old is he?" when she has been wearing pink, pink and more bloody pink ... All from old people .... grrrrrrrrrr!!!

MarsLady · 18/11/2005 00:54

DT1 is a bit of an artist as well.

DT2 likes to eat dirt and drink water, doggie style, from the floor.

Aren't they lovely?

Redtartanlass · 16/01/2006 09:04

hi, just found this thread , is anybody else's toddler, driving them mad as they hit the terrible 2s!!! DS2 is driving me loopy with his constant whinging. It looks like he's got some back teeth coming through as well.

ghosty · 16/01/2006 09:05

Yup RTL ... DD (2 on the 3rd Feb) is driving me insane right now ....

Redtartanlass · 16/01/2006 12:33

ghosty ds2 is 2 on Feb 1!! Can't work out his 'naughtiness' is due to his age or because he's just realised his wee sister (3months) is here to stay!! Or because his routine has changed 'cos I'm now at home on mat leave.

Or is it just his age....

Convenient excuse for the next 20 years...

Hayls · 16/01/2006 19:37

My dd is the same ( 2 on 29th Jan). She has a bit of a strop then says pathetically 'dummy, mummy' despite only ever having dummy at bedtime and me panicking about weaning her off it.
Anybody else feel like 2 year olds get their own way for a quiet life too often or is it just me?

Redtartanlass · 16/01/2006 19:49

Every day seems to be a battle about something. His teeth are really giving him gip so I'm trying to be a bit more lenient. But he wants sooooo much attention, "Sit down mummy" is all I hear as he taps the floor beside him. If I tell him I can't because I'm doing something else, World War Three. Ahhhhhhhhhh

ghosty · 18/01/2006 19:39

RTL ... DD is just like that ... "Down Mummy" and pats the chair next to her when I am madly getting ready to go out or something ...
She is blinking hard work right now and I just don't remember DS being like this .... but I have been told by a reliable source that my DS was a toddler from hell I have obviously blanked it out because my memories of him as a 2 year old are nothing but lovely

Redtartanlass · 18/01/2006 20:17

Ghosty - I don't remember DS1 being like that either, maybe it's like childbirth and you forget the pain!!!

Hayls - I don't let hom get his own way I just pretend not to see, when chucks a book in temper or throws a toy across the room. My theory for ignoring him, is he is just looking for a reaction, but really it's because sometimes it's a lot easier.

He is such a happy, smiley wee lad normally, but you can see him push, push, pushing those boundaries!!!

MarsOnLife · 21/01/2006 10:07

We're suddenly rushing towards 2 aren't we?

I can't believe how the time has flown. The DTs look more and more like small children and less and less like babies.

The baby fat has completely left DT2. DT1 never had any. She still is a wee thing.

They are infuriating, demanding, lovable, huggable, kissable.

Here's to 2 year olds

ghosty · 21/01/2006 10:10

I am wondering if DD will a) ever lose her baby fat and b) ever get any hair ...
She is tall for her age but still looks young because she is so follicly challenged!

MarsOnLife · 21/01/2006 10:10

DD1 didn't get hair until she was over 2. Gotta go, moaning in my ear. Bye!!!!!!!!!1

LadySherlockofLGJ · 21/01/2006 10:11

I am not moaning .............her addiction is worse than mine.

Redtartanlass · 21/01/2006 23:51

ds2 has completely lost that chubby baby look, he was a real chunky monkey. Considering he has had hardly anything to eat in 2 weeks it's no wonder really. His eye teeth and back molars are coming in and driving him mad!!

I cut his hair for the first time last week, but he still looks babyish 'cos he's got such an enormous head!!!

MarsOnLife · 01/02/2006 16:46

Now we are two!!!!!!!!!!

MarsOnLife · 13/02/2006 22:30

.

MarsLady · 15/06/2006 23:09

Just curious............ anyone out there? lol

I've managed to potty train DT1 and am working on DT2. How goes it with the rest of y'all?

MarsLady · 19/07/2006 11:24

Just a quick bump!

Hiya girls. So how many of you have budding artists at home? Or painter and decorators?

DT1 has daubed every conceivable surface in our house with pen, pencil, crayon etc. The joys...................

So.... how are you all doing? Or are the rigours of chasing wee beasts keeping you offline?
