Can you try cancel the trip due to pox? Just tell mil can't come due to pox. Can't fly for weeks. Would prob work with mil. Lol

Wandathewindfairy · 28/07/2014 08:06

I love how you always seem just so relaxed and amused by incidents like that bp I wish I could, I always try to, but am stifling spontaneous combustion inside!

yw that is a bit steep. I am sure Mil is just Disapointed that she won't see you, and just didn't deal with it right. I am sure she has been really excited. I know I would be if it was one one the boys and their brood coming from afar. I hope the little bear if poxing up nicely. Remember all the bicarbonate and porridge in the bath! Thanks

det like everyone else says if you are worried you need to see if you can have him referred. However, remember that all children do develop speech etc at different levels. Remember O was walking before my O was even thinking about crawling. Lots and lots of children don't speak much at all before they are 2 and quite a few it is 3. I don't always think it necessarily follows in families, DD2 spoke later than the others but she just seemed to start talking one day. My SIL has 3 her eldest just grunted till he was 3 and never shuts up now, the second was quite chattery and smiley but has had to go to speech therapy as his speech didn't really develop from baby talk, and Dn started talking when she was 10 months and no one can get a word in still.

They do all find their own level In the end. Hugs anyway. It is so nice to have you back here.

Anyway.......where is pr? Is she stuck In fb and can't get out?

This weekend O has learnt to open doors. This is a nightmare. He snuck off upstairs this morning to break into DS1s room and play with his Lego. He snuck in with his fingers on his lips "shh" he said!

BigPigLittlePig · 28/07/2014 08:22

Haha hilarious Wanda!

Ouch YW.

Brew
BigPigLittlePig · 28/07/2014 08:58

I had also been wondering where pr was lurking.

It's raining here. What?! It hasn't rained in aaages, and when I have plans involving sunshine...bam.

Elizadoesdolittle · 28/07/2014 09:47

bplp I know what you mean. have enjoyed such wonderful weather lately it's a shock to see rain.

ouch yw but better off doing that rather than stressing about scabs etc. Hope the bear doesnt suffer.

Had a fab day yesterday at my DN birthday BBQ. Having a slobby morning then going to a free children's activity thing nr by. It runs for 2 weeks and has bouncy castles, lots of outdoor toys, puppet shows, face painting etc. And a lot of it is in tents so good for this weather!

I am taking the girls to Bath tomorrow for a couple of days. Going to Longleat Safari park which I love.

Passmethecrisps · 28/07/2014 10:37

Morning all.

I had been wondering about pr as well. I might give her a wee buzz.

Such bad news about the pox yw. All things considered I suppose things can always be worse but how frustrating. How is wee koala bear now?

We had friends over for an early dinner yesterday with their 2 year old. P had an absolute ball and didn't get to bed until 10pm. She was out like a light but then woke at 1am, 2am, 3am and then 4 when she refused to settle alone so she ended up in with us. I have no idea what was wrong but maybe over stimulation? I was also having trouble sleeping so that might have been it. She has a nursery visit right now (I am in the parent room) and a BBQ this afternoon so I really hope tonight isn't a repeat.

I was a bit wobbly about nursery this morning. I have no idea why but the idea is making me a bit wet eyed. She is in for a different section of the day every day this week and starts properly for her full day on Friday. I don't think it helped that the kids are weeks from moving rooms so she is currently the youngest until the wee ones from the other room move up to join her. She looked happy enough so I am sure all will be well.

Nice days again here although not set to be so hot. Just a nice sunny day.

ValiumQueen · 28/07/2014 10:44

PR is fine. I 'spoke' to her last night Smile

YellowWellies · 28/07/2014 12:54

Doc says 90% sure its CP just got to wait for heads to form on the spots which could take until Wednesday... He has been trotting round the garden on his trike and playing in his sandpit (in short bursts but still) so he's definitely feeling brighter, though is regularly having sense of humour failures over the littlest things!

StuntNun · 28/07/2014 13:06

CP doesn't always hit very hard, when my DS1 had it he was poorly but in good spirits. We just stuck him in the bath every day to sooth the itching. DS2 hasn't had it despite everybody at his school getting it last term. He played with two of the kids on the days their mums discovered the spots and still didn't get it which is strange as I thought it was really infectious.

YellowWellies · 28/07/2014 13:10

Stunt the same thing happened to us in May - he played with three pals for the week before they came out in spots, sharing toys, drinks etc - including just hours before spots appeared on one pal. Then assuming he'd already got it he played with them for the next week in quarantine whilst their spots scabbed. He didn't get it! This time he's been utterly miserable and sleeping badly but brightening up today to some degree. I can tell the spots are itching him and making him cranky though.

YellowWellies · 28/07/2014 13:11

I'd say he's got between 2-300 spots though. He is covered! Sad

StuntNun · 28/07/2014 14:09

Poor J YW and what a shame about the timing.

OP posts:
YellowWellies · 28/07/2014 16:53

He's doing OK, bright in the morn, grumpy by afternoon and miserable at night. Its making his reflux worse. Tonight I've got a new weapon in my arsenal - a bicarb of soda bath and then piriton! We will get more than 6 hours sleep tonight. Just sods law its only 3 weeks into my new job. Doc is 95% certain its CP but can't say 100% until the pustules form on the spots.

Pikz · 28/07/2014 18:54

Get well soon mini wellies

Rowingdowntheriver · 28/07/2014 19:33

Sorry to hear about the pox yw. It's awful when they get it so young. L got it at 4/ 5 months and he was terrible with it, his whole body crusty with spots even in his mouth and throat so he didn't want to eat :(. I hope J recovers quickly.

I've been busy here with the kids plus work has been busy plus finishing off bits for the house. We moved in just over a year ago and didn't have to do much, just needed to buy stuff like furniture and curtains.

As well as all that we've been doing a lot of family stuff as DH has spread his paternity leave over 6 weeks. This weekend we went to Brighton for the day which was fab but very very hot. The boys loved the aquarium and I loved the crepes and cup of tea on the pier!

ButchCassidy · 28/07/2014 19:38

Just checking in... Luther crap poster,...
My DS has no words really.. Maybe a couple... I'm hoping he just starts speaking soon..
Just found out he's probably going to need more surgery. Don't want to give major details as think it will out me in rl but I'm a bit pissed about it... I think 2 major ops before he's 2 is just a bit shitHmm

YellowWellies · 28/07/2014 22:45

God piriton is good shit. He's sleeping so peacefully! Shock

BigPigLittlePig · 29/07/2014 07:27

Yay for piriton Smile

Pikz · 29/07/2014 07:34

Oh butch I am sorry. That's not nice news to hear Hmm

Yay for piriton Grin

Wandathewindfairy · 29/07/2014 07:55

Hope you got a good night yw

Just sitting outside Tesco waiting for it to open. I am on countdown for the girls arriving at the weekend and some special guests tomorrow.

O and ds1 safely ensconced in nursery and I am ready for whirlwind Tuesday!

StuntNun · 29/07/2014 07:57

That sounds very stressful Butch. If you want to talk about it then the FB page is more private.

I am slightly grumpy about three wake ups last night but the. I remember that that used to be a good night round here.

My house is a complete wreck so I have banned screen time for DS1 and DS2 until they help me tidy up a bit. I don't know why it bothers me so much but the mess really makes me upset. At least I got washing done yesterday so they have clothes to wear and clean bedding. As DS1 is starting high school next month I've started him doing chores. He has to do one thin every day such as mowing the lawn, vacuuming downstairs, going down to the shop for me. In return he gets £5 pocket money a week. It seems to be working pretty well so far. I wish I could get him doing some food preparation but I think it would be too difficult as he's small for his age and our oven and microwave are too high for him to use safely. Can anyone suggest any meals that an 11-year old would be able to prepare?

OP posts:
StuntNun · 29/07/2014 08:00

Isn't your Tesco 24 hours Wanda? I remember going once at 3 a.m. for some convoluted reason and being amazed at just how many people were there at that time.

OP posts:
Passmethecrisps · 29/07/2014 08:39

What about the chopping and prep for omlette/frittata and salad?

Nice to see you butch but sorry to hear your news.

Glad the piriton worked yw. Hopefully a good noght's sleep should aid healing

Wandathewindfairy · 29/07/2014 09:08

Unfortunately not the one in the town. The nearest 24 hour ones are 45 mins away.

Pasta pesto stunt, you could even make your own pesto! I am going to do that with the girls next week.

BigPigLittlePig · 29/07/2014 09:44

Stunt I get 6yr old dsd to help chop veg and stir the saucepan for things like spag bol. She has the bluntest knife and does the soft veg like mushrooms. She loves the responsibility and often asks what extra she can do. Her and F (sometimes) set the table and do drinks for everyone too - could ds1 do that sort of thing? Or sorting and putting away clean cutlery after the meal? Great that he's motivated to help though!

Other meals...adding toppings to plain pizza bases (they could all do that), mashing mashed potato, stir fries.

Dh woke me up to tell me he has a sore throat. Thanks dude Hmm
