We also have done without a stair gate as we could close the door to the hall way. But now H he can open the door. So same strategy won't work with A. Also H keeps going up and hiding and it gives me a mini heart attack. So think we now need one. Ideally don't want one on the actual stair as fil is unsteady on his feet. Maybe on the door way into hall. ATM we have a foot stool there which contains A but H climbs over it.

StuntNun · 25/07/2014 11:02

Paisley it would be good for DS1 to practice reading aloud actually as he'll have to do it in school. Some people with autism have a problem with prosody so they can't tell when to speak loudly or quietly, how fast to speak, etc. When he reads it's either a monotonic mumble or so over exaggerated as to sound ridiculous. I'll give it a try with something he has heard read lots of times so that he knows how to tell it iyswim.

Not surprised but so happy. H ability to feed himself has come along SO much in just a few weeks at nursery. I love watching him eat. He is eating chapati which I've torn into bits. Dipping it into his dall. Now eating his dall with a spoon. I put a wipe on the table and he is using it to wipe his face every son often.

Zamboni · 25/07/2014 14:45

Sorry for bad nights Brew

GT nursery is great for that, they watch and learn from the other children. Plus the herd mentality means they eat too. My DC both eat really well at nursery. DD is in the pre-school there (which is NOT nursery, pre-school is for the BIG children, Mummy Grin) and they sit at big tables and help set the tables, serve the food, pour the drinks etc. I imagine S in his room "helps" the other DC finish their plates Blush but he is very good with his spoon and fork now, really well coordinated. Although when hungry still shovels fistfulls into his mouth!

We still have a stair gate top and bottom but like Paisley's H, S thinks he is big and wants to walk all the time and not hold hands anymore. Eeek. He's quite careefully footed so imagine we will be able to get rid of them soon, but not just yet.

YW is J telling you before he wees or after or during? S is very good at telling me "wee-wee" after it has happened if it has gone on the floor (he spends a lot of time naked Grin) or literally the second the wee has started. Not yet noticed him telling me before. He's not ready yet but will move nursery rooms around 2 and will see the other children and that's what prompted DD's training - ahead of my preferred schedule (S was 8 weeks old then!) and we have the potty from DD which she still sometimes uses. S likes to sit on it for a mili-second and then proudly wee elsewhere a minute later. Will be interesting to see whether moving up a room at nursery has the same impact as it did for DD.

Well done on the exercise stunt and wanda and others. I went to the gym this morning for the first time in an age and survived.

eliza how was Wolf Hall? I was jealous to see you were off to see it.

Hi kyz how is E now? all recovered I hope?

VQ fecking teeth. And YY to developmental leap and appetite - S has always eaten well but he out ate my 27yo DBro on his recent UK visit one breakfast time. Weetabix, fruit, toast, full english, porridge. I dread the teenage years.

Not great here - its so hot but thankfully we are spanking on electricity have fans so that helps. My hayfever is bad atm and I have a horrible, horrible cough. Yuck. But it is my staff summer party tonight, pirate themed, and I have my pirate outfit and prosecco in my bag and DH is on nursery pick up, dinner, bath and bed duty. He loves it when I go out, my drinking of Wine vastly increases his prospects! haha

S is now just a week older than DD was when he was born. I cannot believe it. It feels like a massive milestone to me. Anyone else feel like that - odd personal milestones which feel momentous to you but aren't 'official' ones?

YellowWellies · 25/07/2014 15:28

Zamboni he's telling me he needs a poo before he does it. Which is great as otherwise I'd have been trying to clean poo off my pal's lawn as the babies were all running around in the buff. He doesn't tell me every time but if he hasn't got a nappy on he will warn me! Smile

YellowWellies · 25/07/2014 15:29

Oh and its just poos not wees.

GTbaby · 25/07/2014 19:12

Everyone been enjoying the storms? Or is that just in London?

StuntNun · 25/07/2014 19:20

Glorious hot sunshine here in Northern Ireland. Paddling pool out and everything. It's going to rain tomorrow though.

OP posts:
Lily311 · 25/07/2014 19:23

Hot and sticky in Hungary. Would love a good storm

Passmethecrisps · 25/07/2014 20:24

Hallo. So fecking hot here. We have a BBQ to attend tomorrow afternoon and Sod's law is that the weather is set to break with rain just as it is supposed to start.

Nice day here though. P's last Friday not in childcare so we went as a family for lunch and a wander round town. It was lovely.

Elizadoesdolittle · 25/07/2014 20:31

We went to a park and sheltered under a tree for a bit during a storm. We were lucky though as glorious sunshine before and after. Storm lasted maybe 20 max and cleared out the park which was great as packed beforehand. we were there from 11-5:30! There is a fab splash park and sandpit so bit like being at the beach. Main disaster was I forgot the picnic after painstakingly making it. DD1 was ok of course as I can buy things at café for her whereas all E could eat was wotsits cake and icecream, great diet!

Wolf hall has fab. Very well done. A lot more humour than I remember from the book but then I did only get quarter of a way though it in a breastfeeding haze. There were just too many Thomas' s for me to keep a track of! Has inspired me to pick it up again when I'm a bit more with it! Going to see Bring up the Bodies in August.

pass that's my bug bear about the kindle too. I never know what I'm reading and who it's by!

Passmethecrisps · 25/07/2014 20:39

Sounds great, eliza. Wotsits and cake or Wotsits cake. Both sound delicious!!

Annoying about the picnic - maybe you could have it in the garden tomorrow?

The other thing which I find frustrating about the kindle is that sometimes I like to flick back a few pages while reading as I maybe need to check something or go back over a detail and I find that hard with the kindle - too many clicks

Penultimate episode of dexter - eep!!

BigPigLittlePig · 25/07/2014 22:03

Cake for all.

F made me the best card, and proudly demonstrated how she did the hand and footprints Grin AND said her first 2 word sentence today - "my mummy" Grin Grin

We have had wall to wall sunshine today, so enjoyed a picnic up on the hill watching wild horses with a lovely breeze.

Kyz · 25/07/2014 22:06

Evening everyone! Important day in zordzland, implant is out and TTC will now commence. Scary biscuits! Anyway, you guys are pretty much the only people who know, i'm not sure if you're supposed to tell people, I mean I didn't last time really.

We have a stairgate at the top of the stairs because there's a door at the bottom of them. Have had to get a hook and eye type thing at the top of said door as E can reach the doorhandle. I couldn't leave the stairs door open for him because he has a tendency to assume he can walk up and down them like normal, and he's not quite there yet!!

Sounds like you coped with the fridge freezer situation brilliantly wanda as I thought you would :)

sorry to hear of some bad nights - hope tonight brings sleep for all!

well done on your weight loss Stunt you're doing so fab! I really need to keep a better track of stuff on MFP. my first coffee of the day goes on there but rarely anything else!

Bless him gt that's fab :) E doesn't go to nursery but since getting back from our little camping trip after the horrible hospital he seems to be putting more effort into feeding himself :) it's lovely :)

zamboni e is doing fab, he had milk on his cereal and it didn't seem to bother him so I gave him a cup of milk before bed last night and he took an hour to settle. Just a drink of juice and some fruit before bed tonight and he settled in minutes, so i'm wondering if he's not 100% with the milk yet. But other than that he's fine, his tantrums have returned in all their glory and he's back to being the cheekiest little person I have ever met! :)

no storms here gt not yet anyway!

Glad you enjoyed wolf hall eliza

Sounds like a nice day pass :)

Tomorrow I will mostly be heading to a cat show to pick up my new little ragdoll kitten, the one I went to see on my birthday in June if you remember? He's entered in the show too via his breeder. I am so excited! E is staying with MIL as it'll be a stupidly long day, but boy will he be happy when I come home with a playful little kitten :)

Kyz · 25/07/2014 22:07

cross posted bp what a fab first two word sentence :D

Elizadoesdolittle · 25/07/2014 22:10

Yes yes pass that too. I was having the exact same conversation with my friend yedterdsy. Also I tend to buy books in batches and when it comes to reading them I like to read the synopsis first to refresh my memory as to what it's about. As far as I can figure out the only way to do this on the kindle is to go back to the store. Really irritates me.

And yes, lunch ready made tomorrow for picnic in the garden so not all bad!

My best friend is coming over tomorrow. She's just moved back to the UK after living in Dubai for a couple of years. I've not seen her for a year (well apart from skyping lots) so I can't wait to see her. I've missed her loads.

Elizadoesdolittle · 25/07/2014 22:13

Eeeek kyz exciting Grin

bplp How lovely. Bless her.

Passmethecrisps · 25/07/2014 22:16

Yeah for cards and sentences!!

Also yeah for wild horses!

Passmethecrisps · 25/07/2014 22:22

Oh! I took so long to write 2 sentences I cross posted!

TTC kyz? How massively exciting. E will be a fantastic big brother! And he will be soooooo excited when a kitten comes home.

I know eliza! Why would there not be a short synopsis? I also bulk buy at once and it really puts me off having to go and hunt for the description especially considering you have to be connected to wifi

BigPigLittlePig · 25/07/2014 22:32

Oh wow, well fc for lots of spring 2015 babies! Had some more encouraging news about maternity pay, so all systems go Hmm

TheDetective · 25/07/2014 22:46

I do hope I'm on the AN threads with my fellow Nov 12'ers! How exciting! Grin

Oscar will absolutely not walk up or down stairs unless holding hands Hmm. He always goes down backwards, and crawls up. Even on tiny steps! He's just like 'uh, no, don't think so'! He still goes down slides backwards on his tummy too! He gets all stressed out if I put him sat up on one!

He goes up and down them all day though Hmm when I leave the gate open. I'm thinking of closing it. The mess he leaves in every single room is too much to bear! Grin

Passmethecrisps · 25/07/2014 22:57

That would be lovely!

Weirdly p who had been quite happy to slide at speed on her belly down the stairs while calling "bye bye" has now decided that she needs to be carried down the stairs. She asks by saying "mummycoddles?" And getting all coy. DH didn't twig when she muttered "daddycoddles?" And wandered off without her expecting her to follow. She stood at the top of the stairs and wept yelling "daaaadeeeeeeee?". I had to take her down to a completely bemused DH who had to take a p telling off.

YellowWellies · 25/07/2014 23:25

Oh crumbs just found out a really good pal of ours from our time on the island appears to have thrown himself off Yesnaby cliffs last night. He's front page news on the Orcadian newspaper. He was the nicest chap you could ever meet who had struggled for years with depression and recently was suffering from workplace bullying Sad His poor Mum.

Passmethecrisps · 25/07/2014 23:36

Oh that is so sad yw. How awful.

Passmethecrisps · 25/07/2014 23:37

That coupled with the other news about the little boy found in fife makes me want to go up and hold p forever
