Jupiter I've only one card from way back in my 20s that I think had it... might look into it though, as you say compound interest is a wonderful thing when its working on your side rather than the banks!

GT lots of sensible advice - something I've just thought of (after a phone call with a pal who is in a lot of financial trouble) just make sure you don't fall into the cycle of working, don't see the kids, feel guilty for not seeing the kids, buy expensive kid stuff out of Mummy guilt, get into debt, feel even more guilty, have to work even more to pay for the stuff. It's time with you that matters the most - not possessions. My pal is about to consider bankruptcy as her guilt spending went OTT Shock.

Perse much ever so quiet pom pom waving and cheering going on over here for your rising hormone levels xx

MsJupiter · 17/07/2014 12:48

On a less self-indulgent note, congrats Lily on the car and shagging - hope it's got an impressive engine.

PR sorry you are having a shit time...

Perse that is fab news, really pleased for you.

Batch cooking - I am a but crap but try and have some bolognaise or veg sauce in the freezer. We also resort to sausages and fish fingers!

Wandathewindfairy · 17/07/2014 13:09

But jj did you have to have details of all your old accounts and all the loans?

StuntNun · 17/07/2014 13:11

I never took out PPI. Kind of wish I had now!

ValiumQueen · 17/07/2014 13:25

I get all three up and sorted and dropped off at two places and work full time and collect them all and I am old! You will be fine GT. Try to see your work as 'me time', or your lunch break at least. I really enjoy the drive as it gives me time to clear my head and swap from mummy mode to work mode.

MsJupiter · 17/07/2014 13:27

I found an old bank statement that had one of the loan references on so I put that and sent a photocopy, but I knew I'd had 2 loans. I just have approximate dates and wrote what it said on the money saving expert website about how I hadn't been told I could get a similar product elsewhere (true) and they had put pressure on me and given the impression it was necessary (also true).

The letter I got back had all the details and reference numbers I hadn't provided plus the amounts, so they must have had the info. I reckon it's worth a try even if you don't have paperwork. I honestly wasn't expecting to get anything.

MsJupiter · 17/07/2014 13:27

But VQ you are amazing.

Zamboni · 17/07/2014 14:01

Fantastic MsJ. I am sure I would have said no had I been asked but I scanned through MSE and apparently some sharp practices were to add it regardless. Plus DH is massively susceptible to any upselling so I might look into it a bit.

Lily Grin

Love Greenwich Park Eliza. My DSis lives close to there.

Do have a moan PR. Wine

GT it is tough settling into a routine but it will get easier. We easily manage all the logistics (easier atm as we all head to broadly the same place) and it will be managable. You do need FH and PIL to help. Is there anyway they can be brought onside, as it were?

All good here. Work is busy but in a happy way and I feel like I am just about keeping all of the plates spinning. S is much happier although still scabby. Everytime I sweep a hand over his head I dislodge what feels like a million scabs. I had to tell DD off for deliberately picking one (of S's) which wasn't ready to come off even though I totally understood her complusion to do it! Long weekend as my lovely little DBro is back from SA for the weekend and we are having a big family weekend. He's bringing a GF back with him. Must be quite serious if she's coming to meet us all. Because of the distance everytime DBro comes home we have a massive family get together so she can't get to know us gradually. Poor girl.

Elizadoesdolittle · 17/07/2014 14:37

That's fab msJ. Reminds me I had a letter from my bank re PPI that I took out with a loan over 15yrs a go now. I must send it back. I'm not hopeful of getting anything but you have shown me that it's worth doing. Especially as they have sent me a nice easy to fill out form. I too can't remember all the details but they must have them as otherwise they wouldn't have been able to contact me!

Congrats on both the car and shagging lily. Sounds like you are having a whale of a time Grin.

My mum has just popped round with a load of garden stuff for the girls. A plastic table and chairs, ride on giraffe for E, racket set and skittle game. She never does anything like this so a lovely surprise. Girls will be thrilled.

PetiteRaleuse · 17/07/2014 16:54

Hmm. PPI. I had a few credit cards and, briefly, a loan round about 2000. I don't have the details of any of them now but I wonder if I had PPI and if I could try and get something back. I barely used the credit cards, they were paid off monthly and mainly unused - I kept them as I travelled a lot and didn't want to be caught out abroad.

Lily311 · 17/07/2014 18:12

Never had a ppi either.

Ok, I'm so upset, i know I am ridiculous but can't help it. O stopped sucking her thumb on Tuesday morning and hasn't done it ever since. I have no idea why and I know she had to stop at one point but i wanted to have a battle. Yes, I know, I am stupid. But she was so cute sucking her thumb, I really miss it.

PetiteRaleuse · 17/07/2014 18:39

Aww. Like DD1 with dummies and milk in bottles she'll probably go back to it when she's ill or overtired.

ValiumQueen · 17/07/2014 21:01

Thank you JJ Grin

Lily be happy. Very happy. DD1 still sucks her fingers at age 8 and needs to see an orthodontist Sad

PetiteRaleuse · 17/07/2014 21:43

My crappy front teeth are due to thumb sucking too. I was manipulated into not getting a brace but I regret that now.

LO poorly tonight. Phlegmy cough, fever. I don't think i need to be worried but keeping her cool and comfortable is v hard in the house. It's over 30 degrees in here. Will set up the paddling pool tomorrow as we have two more v hot days ahead before the storms start up again. Might take her to Dr first thing depending on how she seems. Just to be sure.

GTbaby · 17/07/2014 22:44

Thanks for your advice all
Soph/wanda you cheered me up while at work.
Pr YES YES YES. That is my main concern with going part time. And time off will ruined by pil.
Mini rant
Mil looked after A today. So she went to bed when I got home. Hmm So I'm left to feed boys then put to bed then make FIL dinner. Curry was done. So just heat up and make roti. But lots of work. But still could do without it. Feel annoyed for being angry about it as she has given up most her day to look after A. But I'm still annoyed.

Elizadoesdolittle · 17/07/2014 22:46

Hope LO is ok pr and feels better tomorrow.

This house seems much cooler than my last one. There is no way I could have slept without the air con unit in the old place but so far I've been comfortable enough with just a window open. The garden has very little shade though so I'll have to work on that.

GTbaby · 17/07/2014 23:34

Does A know I need to sleep so wakes for 11pm feed ... 1st time on 4 months. Poor him tho. Must be hungry as he has hardly eaten/ drank all day.
How many light/dryish nappies before you should be concerned ?

GTbaby · 18/07/2014 00:09

Calpol and listen to As fav songs. Finally bk in bed. Pls sleep little baby.

MsJupiter · 18/07/2014 04:15

Hope you all slept through the storms GT...

ValiumQueen · 18/07/2014 08:50

Not even 9am and we are at the park with a picnic. Easy to achieve when a certain small one wakes at 5.30.

Elizadoesdolittle · 18/07/2014 09:17

crazy thunder storm here. DD1 woke me up as she was scared but I doubt I would have slept through it anyway. E did though thank goodness.

PetiteRaleuse · 18/07/2014 10:27

Envy of storms

Busy day here. LO not herself but breathing ok so not going to worry yet.

Off to the shops now to enjoy air conditioned loveliness.

PetiteRaleuse · 18/07/2014 10:28

Also Envy of picnic in the park. Too hot here for a picnic. Paddling pool later though :)

BigPigLittlePig · 18/07/2014 10:38

I'm off to....bed.

But not before I snaffled an amazing deal. Had been looking to ditch sky and move to freeview anyway, when I stumbled across a deal for landlime and unlimited broadband for £150 for the YEAR, plus £150 amazpn voucher. No idea how that is financially viable for the company but don't really care. Is more than adequate for our needs. We will save between 6 and 700 pounds a year Shock

StuntNun · 18/07/2014 12:47

I looked at that deal too BigPig but it wasn't available in my area Sad
