No storms here, but my fb is full of people bemoaning the Broadmoor alarms going off for half the night. Can't have helped with sleep I am sure.

Just to let you know pr you were not being precious. I did read yest but didn't have time to respond.

I sucked my thumb till I was 31 and my teeth are fine or no one has told me otherwise Blush

lily sounds like you are having a great week. Is always sad when they reach a milestone, but like someone else said it may come out when she is tired or upset. Xx

Yesterday was great. I took the boys for a swim In the outdoor warm seawater pools ( not the freezio one I went to on tues but one a bit further up mainly aimed at families) O loved it. I am emabrrssed to admit that is the first time I have taken him. Is just a time and juggle thing. O has a wicked sense of humour and is full of mischief, and sometimes I feel like he is always trying to wind me up on purpose, but actually with the swimming I felt like we really bonded. It only cost £3.70 as you don't pay till you are 5 so I think I need to keep that up.

I'm currently sat in my fave cafe having lunch ON MY OWN. then I am off to have my hair and makeup done before I night of loveliness with DH. Great hotel right in the centre of the city, dinner booked, then I am off to my cookery course in the morning .

Excited?

Me?

Doesn't even cover it.

StuntNun · 18/07/2014 13:58

Sounds lovely Wanda. I can't wait to hear about the cooking course.

We are heading off to buy DS1's school uniform (we call it schooliform like Lola from Charlie and Lola) for big school today. I will be back later to report on the price of blazers. He's guaranteed to lose it in the first week isn't he? I can't believe big school starts NEXT MONTH! Eek!

Elizadoesdolittle · 18/07/2014 14:44

DH has just emailed me a fab deal from groupon that he said he'd buy. It's for an 8 seater dining rattan set. I can't wait to have somewhere comfortable to sit in the garden. Am very excited!

wanda have a wonderful time.

Pikz · 18/07/2014 14:55

In the paddling pool outside that should say!

Stunt you could do what my mum did and buy a blazer so big I still wore it in yr11!!

Pikz · 18/07/2014 14:58

Oooooh sounds lush Eliza! I love those sets

PetiteRaleuse · 18/07/2014 15:26

Someone up thread was asking about kyz her LO is on the mend and well enough to join the rest of the family on their camping trip. He's eating a bit and no more vom.

PetiteRaleuse · 18/07/2014 15:27

Have a great night away wanda and a great cooking lesson tomorrow.

PetiteRaleuse · 18/07/2014 15:30

LO has entered the why phase early. She's copying DD1.

Wandathewindfairy · 18/07/2014 16:14

Arrived at hotel to be greater with a free upgrade and a glass of wine! Happy days. Grin

ValiumQueen · 18/07/2014 16:19

We are still out. In an attempt to get them to go home I said they could have pizza, but stay longer and eat worms. They chose worms.

StuntNun · 18/07/2014 16:43

£55 for a polyester blazer, £77 for wool. That's on top of £150 for P.E. kit, £60 for shirts, trousers, socks and ties, and however much we'll have to pay for school shoes, football boots and rugby boots.

PetiteRaleuse · 18/07/2014 17:09

V thankful for no school uniform here. What a racket.

Wandathewindfairy · 18/07/2014 17:11

Waaaaa. That is so expense. Get them all tne sizes too big like mums used to in our day. You could tell the first years because their hands were always covered in their blazer and their shoes were like shoe boxes!

Yum worms Hmm

StuntNun · 18/07/2014 18:09

Maybe DS2 will go to the same school and we'll be able to recycle them?

Can anyone explain my DH's behaviour as I think it's really strange. J has got into watching TV lately which is great because I can get a few odd jobs done in the morning while he eats his breakfast and watches the telly. He likes the obvious things: In The Night Garden, Fireman Sam, Wibbly Pig etc. When we got home just now I went to make cups of tea and DH put Peter Pan on for J to watch then pottered off to do something else. Cue J wandering round the living room alternately bored and frightened, and DS2 complaining that he didn't want to watch it. So I turned off the film and put on Fireman Sam so I could leave them watching it while I made dinner. Then I go back in after getting dinner going and Fireman Sam had finished so DH had put on The Spy Who Loved Me for them to watch. Hmm Neither DS2 nor J were watching it so I ended up putting on a YouTube video on my phone to keep them occupied while the dinner cooked. Eventually I had to turn the James Bond film off because it was showing a woman in the water screaming because a shark was about to kill her. HmmHmmHmm Is it me or is this really strange behaviour by my DH? I record the shows they like on Sky+ but then he goes and puts on something completely different.

Just popping into say hi as it's been a while. I'll catch up on the thread later while feeding I.

It is soooo hot here, hotter than Barbados apparently. I've spent most of the day indoors working and looking after I. Am so glad it is the weekend now!

I know it is not important given what else is in the news recently, but have people seen the spoof articles in the independent and telegraph discussing the wardrobes of the male cabinet ministers? So funny and a great response to the daily hates similar article on the female cabinets clothes.

Rowingdowntheriver · 18/07/2014 19:06

Great news perse.

Wow msj*, That's brill news about the PPI claim!

S
stunt maybe dh just wanted to watch James Bond himself?!

PetiteRaleuse · 18/07/2014 20:06

Just thought I'd give a tip which has worked for me the last couple of days. You know how when nbs are unsettled you're advised to do skin on skin? It still works. LO has been upset and angry with her fever so have stripped us both down and it has soothed her.

I think she is a bit better this evening. Was wondering if any of you had any advice about where I could buy long sleeved and legged floaty summer clothes for her? All I can find here is short sleeved stuff or tight long sleeved stuff. Sun cream wrecks her skin (have run out of brands to try).

BigPigLittlePig · 18/07/2014 20:12

Vertbaudet do longer loose trousers, and 3/4 sleeve floaty tops PR - I did see some similar stuff in Tescos the other week.

PetiteRaleuse · 18/07/2014 20:12

Agh. Hate vertbaudet. I'll have a look, thanks. Will be easier for me than Tesco. Flowers

StuntNun · 18/07/2014 20:16

Curiously J hates skin-to-skin. In fact he's never liked it. He woke up just as I was about to have a shower this morning so I was naked when I got him out of bed (he was wearing long sleeved pyjamas and a sleeping bag). He complained and pointed at my dressing gown until I put it on!

OP posts:
PetiteRaleuse · 18/07/2014 20:25

Oh well I just thought it might be something which people didn't think of as being an obvious option anymore. DD1 never really liked skin to skin with me, but did with DH. LO was always easy to settle that way so I retried it out of desperation and it worked.

Love that he told you to get dressed [stunt] :)

LO is developing her authoritarian streak. "Come on" with a stamp of the feet when I am too slow to do what she wants. Makes me smile every time.

StuntNun · 18/07/2014 20:50

I'm sure most babies love it PR, just not J. Although he did pull my pyjama shirt up the other day, press one nipple and say 'Meeep'. Hmm He has shown some autistic traits so it's possible skin-to-skin is just too overwhelming for him.

OP posts:
ValiumQueen · 18/07/2014 20:52

J loves skin to skin still. He has a massage every night with his cream and loves that. He loves sticking his face in my cleavage too. He is very affectionate.

YellowWellies · 18/07/2014 22:19

Yeah my J is a fan of skin to skin cuddles too. He's a sook generally but has just started climbing into bed with us in a morning and bear hugging us with a loud 'awwwwwwww'. It's my favourite time of day.
