Thanks Imeg!

Can I ask how often your babies poop???!!

DS had a lovely routine for a few weeks of doing a big dirty nappy just once a day, every morning at 6am... But now he is really irregular, only going every other day and there isn't as much.

Is this something to be worried about? He seems happy and is still putting on weight within his centile. Never thought I would miss those morning poops!!

Vikkijayne2507 · 16/05/2014 05:28

he usually pooped every feed this has slowed down a lot but usually a big one in morning and a few through the day sometimes just a bit

FrankelandFilly · 16/05/2014 07:18

Alixon, are you breast or bottle feeding? It's not uncommon for breast fed babies to go several days without pooing - DD went a whole week once! Since switching to formula she's been more regular but sometimes has a day with nothing, followed by a day of epic nappies!

Imeg · 16/05/2014 08:22

My breastfed baby is pooing many times a day (at least 6) but sometimes it's not very much and I think it is a bit less often than it used to be.

I hope those of you with very disturbed nights don't hate me for saying this but he's slept for 7 hours three nights in a row!! He's nearly 10 weeks. But now that I've posted this he'll probably be up all night tonight...

FrankelandFilly · 16/05/2014 08:28

Imeg that's great! DD has consistently been going 10.30-4.30ish for the last week so I'm hoping we've got a routine developing!

Vikkijayne2507 · 16/05/2014 09:53

oh imeg im jealous what times is it

Imeg · 16/05/2014 11:08

It was 8-3 two nights and 9-4 last night. I'm sure I haven't done anything different so just luck I think! He hasn't been sleeping much after 4am though (not that I'm complaining...) possibly because it's more or less broad daylight in our bedroom due to useless curtains - blackout blind going up today!

commsgirl · 16/05/2014 11:29

C is FF and she has two dirty nappies a day on average although sometimes less.

She's sleeping from about 8-5 and then coming into bed with us and going back to sleep until about 7. Feeling very lucky but like you Imeg I'm not expecting it to last!

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend in the sun!

puggywug81 · 16/05/2014 14:43

Hi Alixon!

Imeg I have to say I'm quite jealous! No real routine here yet but we do often get a 4-5 hour stretch at night.

Finlay is breastfed and seems to poop constantly!

Alixion · 16/05/2014 22:59

DS is breastfed so that's probably why his poop is irregular - I didn't realise it made a difference!

We had a rare long sleep last night - 7pm- 4.30am. Think it was a freaky one-off though as he also slept a lot during the day - I had to wake him up from both his morning and afternoon nap.

He'll be 12 weeks tomorrow - I can't believe it! I had a personal goal of breastfeeding for 3 months and have made it, yay! Now I have to decide whether to carry on or start the swap to ff... I haven't really enjoyed bf so was looking forward to stopping but there's a little voice that says 'keep going if you've got this far. One more month' etc.

puggywug81 · 17/05/2014 22:16

Congrats Alixon 3 months is a real achievement.

Mummytobe2014 · 18/05/2014 21:18

Hi ladies i hopr ur all doing well! Slight change of subject but curious how you are keeping your babies cool at night? Jacks room temp is saying 25/26 and we have just put a fan in there too but i dnt know what else to do!? He is jst in a sleeveless vest all day and night.
Its such a worry and im sure the heat is affecting him as he has eaten less and slept less today :-(
Hope everyone has a good night xx

puggywug81 · 18/05/2014 23:05

Hi mummy its hot here tonight, I've got the fan on full power and Finlay is in his moses just wearing his nappy, nothing else, other than that I cant think of anything else to do.

Mummytobe2014 · 19/05/2014 08:13

Hi Puggy, I wondered whether to leave him in just a nappy but he seemed ok in his vest so will keep an eye on that! Today I am going to keep the blind in his bedroom shut with window wide open and fan on in the hope it keeps the temp down a bit!

Imeg · 19/05/2014 11:48

A relative who lives in Singapore told me that there babies tend to be wrapped up complete with hat, despite the tropical heat!
We lived abroad when my sister was a baby and apparently she never wore anything apart from a nappy until we came back to the UK when she was very unimpressed with suddenly being bundled into clothes...

Alixion · 19/05/2014 19:53

I felt OK leaving DS in a short sleeve vest and 1.5 tog sleeping bag until this evening as it's roasting!

He had some nappy-only kick about this afternoon, so after a cool bath we put him in a vest and I've tucked his bottom half into a sheet. I don't normally do this so am manically checking on him - he's only been asleep for 45mins! The sheet is tucked under the mattress on three sides and he's at the bottom but am still dithering about whether to leave him there! Ahhh... PFB!!!

commsgirl · 19/05/2014 22:49

As long as his feet are at the bottom and his arms are out he'll be absolutely fine. DD is in a short sleeved vest tucked into a sheet too. It's so humid tonight! She got herself all hot and bothered so we've had the fan on for a bit and she seems to have settled now.

Mummytobe2014 · 20/05/2014 09:06

It was so hot in our house last night :-( Jack ended up in just his nappy all night with fan on and window open, then when he felt cool this morn I laid a cellular blanket over him which he kicked off lol but I am much happier that its cooler today as I just worried all night!!

Vikkijayne2507 · 21/05/2014 02:27

here in Portugal its been 30 degrees James has been unsettled slept a lot. now weather gone crap he's much happier.

commsgirl · 21/05/2014 16:54

It's still so hot here. Well, hot for up North. C is not impressed.

FrankelandFilly · 21/05/2014 18:26

I chatted to the health visitor about the heat today, she said better to be too cold than too hot. She did say not to have babies in a draft though, so if they're in the car don't have the window next to them down and never point a fan at them.

Jacksarrivedsleepsleftthebuilding · 22/05/2014 10:03

Have name changed as no longer a Mummytobe2014 Smile

that was my thinking Frankel its better to be cold than hot so that's why I kept him in a nappy the other night, the fan was in the room but not pointed at him. Last night was a lot cooler so he went into a vest.

Vikki - that must be tough keeping him cool over in Portugal - I bet your pleased the weather has turned abit? How do you keep him cool?

J had his jabs yesterday, what a nightmare night we I had with him, he was so clingy I couldn't settle him, he wouldn't drink all of his milk and woke up every 1-2 hours crying and I really struggled to settle him down. So far this morning he seems to be a little more settled I have put baby tv on for him and he is giggling away but how long will it last!
I had to give him some calpol last night as his temp seemed a little high - I think he quite liked that!

Is anyone else due for jabs or have just had them, how were your LO's??

Hope you all had a good night last night!

commsgirl · 22/05/2014 10:52

C's jabs are on Wednesday, and DP is conveniently working away. I've got calpol at the ready!

FrankelandFilly · 22/05/2014 11:40

E's had her first lot of jabs and responded by sleeping all day, thankfully! Her next lot are due in a few weeks, so we'll see how she responds then!

puggywug81 · 22/05/2014 12:23

Sympathies to everyone having jabs at the moment, we've still got ours to come yet!

How did you all get to into a bedtime routine? Oh works Nights 3 on 4 off then switch so I'm finding it difficult as our routine changes depending whether oh is here or not.
