Same to you Mrs. If only I could get DD to attach to my swollen boob I just know she'd drain it, the greedy guts! I've tried expressing to draw the nipple out to encourage her on, but that didn't work. I'm now going to try reverse pressure softening at the next feed but I suspect until we get her tongue tie fixed and the swelling down we won't have much luck.

I thought this was supposed to be easier!

Vikkijayne2507 · 20/04/2014 22:08

after each feed or b4 James is very grizzly needing to poo he does when we rub his tummy he tge then screams for food as he's made room

commsgirl · 20/04/2014 22:49

I think C is starting with wind/colic :(. She's been really fussy the last couple of nights and pulling her legs up like she's in pain. Going to get her some infacol tomorrow, any other tips?

LeeHandy · 21/04/2014 05:20

hi ladies, can I please join in the conversation?
ds was born on March 23 and is 4 weeks today. he has been pretty good overall except when I tell someone that he is good - which is his cue to be irritable and keep me up all night. bf for me is quite painful because ds has a tongue tie that I'm waiting to get sorted out. but he is not too bothered and has been putting on weight steadily every week.

Vikkijayne2507 · 21/04/2014 05:48

James and I have had 1 hour 30 mins sleep so far tonight he's got trapped wind and then frantically wants my boob even when he's been fed might be start of colic but he slept a lot yesterday but still had a lot of wind after feeding sigh

Vikkijayne2507 · 21/04/2014 05:49

oh he's 4 weeks old at 9.20am

mrsmugoo · 21/04/2014 06:42

Sounds like it could be - mine started almost on the dot of him turning 4 weeks.

Mummytobe2014 · 21/04/2014 07:24

Hi lee congratulations. My Jack qas born on the 25th Smile i know exactly what you mean about your lo being good until you tell people that lol. Jacks night feeds are getting better slowly yayy!

We use infacol on every feed as Jack is so farty it seems to work. You can do massage on colicky babies too!

onceipopicantstop · 21/04/2014 21:09

2.5 days since last bf and boobs very sore this evening. They're not rock hard but fullish and sore. I guess this is normal? Or did I stop too quickly? Going to have a really hot shower and see if that helps. Trying to avoid expressing as I presume this will just encourage milk production. But equally don't want to get mastitis...

Vikkijayne2507 · 21/04/2014 21:42

I've found when he's feeding gently rubbing tummy makes him fart and poo easier so he's been happier today

LeeHandy · 21/04/2014 22:06

thanks mummytobe, I didn't know you can give infacol to farty babies! I thought it was only colic - which I think means non-stop crying. I need to Google this research this properly!
Vikki do you rub baby's tummy during the feed or after?

commsgirl · 21/04/2014 23:38

Once I had that for a few days and then it gradually eased off. My midwife told me not to put the shower on my boobs as it can stimulate them too much but hot baths are fine. Express a little bit off if you're really uncomfortable but the less the better. Make sure your bra is quite tight too (although not uncomfortable or digging in anywhere).

Vikkijayne2507 · 21/04/2014 23:45

lee I do it during he's very relaxed when feeding if I leave it until afterwards I need to burp him and he's all stressy anyway. Just a gentle rub I think comforts him and encourages the farts and poo still needs lots of burping tho

Vikkijayne2507 · 21/04/2014 23:48

regarding sore full boobies midwives in hospital suggested hot shower express some out and then put ice packs on them afterwards they said it helps stop encouraging milk

Mummytobe2014 · 22/04/2014 06:34

He is quite a windy baby lee so infacol just helps it along! Says on the bottle relieves wind, colicky babies and griping pain Smile

onceipopicantstop · 22/04/2014 10:59

Hi thanks for the advice re sore boobs. Hot shower did help a bit last night but still very sore today. Have taken some ibuprofen and may try ice packs.

EmFlat · 22/04/2014 22:13

Vikki and Lee... speaking of easing the poopies... my evening has just been spent not watching Sister Act as hoped, but trying to help our 8-week-old to poo. Tummy-rubbing and leg-bicycling succeeded and resulted in an epic poonami... and the boy's second bath of the night!

Life has never been so rock & roll Wink

Vikkijayne2507 · 23/04/2014 08:05

horrey for poop emFlat its amazing how happy we get over poo

mrsmugoo · 23/04/2014 16:51

Good afternoon Martian mamas, may I brooch the subject of diet/exercise/getting your figure back and resuming sex? Anyone done the deed yet? What contraception are you using? Sorry for tmi....

I've decided now I'm at the 6 week mark I need to knock the wanton snacking and cake eating on the head and think about getting back into my pre pregnancy clothes. I'm still in maternity jeans and really want my old wardrobe back.

On the sex front, I'm game but don't want to become "that girl" who gets knocked up first time back in the saddle and I've not thought about contraception yet.

EmFlat · 23/04/2014 18:13

Hi Mrs, you're not the only one!

I've got that wobbly bit of lower-tummy left after CS, and wonder how the hell I'm supposed to get rid of it. Will Google eventually, but do look at it and think 'hm, what exercise would fix that?'. Not in any mad rush, but summer is on the way after all...

I asked at my 6-week check about going back on the pill: Mercilon used to even my pmt temper and general emotional stability, and I wondered if it could help settle the remnants of my anxiety as well as enable DH and I to become WinkWink familiar WinkWink again.

Was put on the POP (Cerelle) instead, bled for an entire week (common side-effect, screw that for a game of soldiers), so went back and asked if I could have the proper pill again. Am now on Mercilon-equivalent Gedarel... and waiting for it to stop the bleeding! Fingers crossed Wink

Have you booked a GP appt already?

commsgirl · 23/04/2014 18:23

I'm four weeks pp and nowhere near ready for sex! I'll be going back on the pill when I have my six week GP appointment though.

Diet/exercise wise.. I'm back in my pre-preg clothes but there's still some work to do - I've got some weight to shift and my stomach needs some serious toning! I'm eating healthily, trying to keep snacking to a minimum and walking every day but haven't done anything particularly strenuous yet as I want to make sure everything is healed down there first. As soon as I've got the okay I'll be starting something like the 30 day shred or T25. Really trying to be relaxed about it and see it as a marathon rather than a sprint but I do really miss my old body!

EmFlat · 23/04/2014 20:50

Heheh Wink I was ambivalent about my old body, lol. Have always been curvy but really do begrudge the current paunch. Although it's handy for balancing Ben on! Except for when he kicks my scar Confused ouchy a lot.

Vikkijayne2507 · 23/04/2014 20:54

im 4 weeks pp and episiotomy has only just healed after getting an infection in it. I've been given contraception the pill very everyone complains about cleste or sunnthing. ive looked after oh if you understand and really want to progress now Oh us very keen and I miss that side of the relationship we seem to argue more and throw a new baby in we need stability and normality. so I will start pill asap

LeeHandy · 23/04/2014 22:32

boots was out of stock on infacol and gripe water!! Envy Envy Envy I am in for another bad night now!
reg pre preg body, I have a huge way to go. I had already put on a lot of weight before we conceived because I was stress eating while trying to get pregnant and now I have got shift that as well. 30 day shred seems like a very good idea right now (post carrot cake for tea and chocolate cake for dessert).
I am yet to do my 6 week check with the GP and get contraception. I don't know which one to get because we were started trying before we moved to the UK and I don't know any of the names. any advice?

EmFlat · 23/04/2014 23:50

Us too, Vikki - mostly the same reason Wink

Lee, I don't know which pill could be 'recommended', if that can even be said about any! Every woman is so different, you might get on well with a brand someone else can't stand. I'd avoid POP if you can - the 'mini-pill' usually gives irregular bleeding, huge mood changes, etc... unless you don't mind coping with that. The combined pill is better for providing regularity with your periods: Mercilon was good for me, which I think has been replaced by Gedarel. But - having said that - all pills have negative side-effects... I had migraines on Mercilon, so have been told to stop taking it immediately if I get a headache! Best talk to your GP and explain what you want out of the pill Smile they'll figure the rest out for you.
