Hello ladies,

Thought I would start you off. We can just keep this a stats thread until we all deliver and then move across if you like.

Checking in!

Alex did some stretches in his Moses basket last night but I couldn't get to sleep grr. They were only short stretches (2hrs or less) but it's a start!

Welcome bikey!

Book I thought it sounded like reflux from what you said on the other thread. That's why I asked if you had seen anyone as my GP diagnosed the same with Sylvie. Go and see the doctor and they will give you gaviscon. At first, Sylvie had one at every feed but now she only needs one sachet a day. Seriously it's like she's a different baby afterwards! I couldn't believe the difference at first. She went from screaming constantly to smiling and happy within 5 minutes of drinking it. Be aware if you get prescribed it though - it makes babies very constipated so you will probably need some lactulose to take alongside it to keep things moving.

Also great work on the tit-kicking!

Sylvie just cried for ages and I couldn't work out why. Cue a massive fart and suspected nappy fill and she's now doing a massive grin! Must have been satisfying...

Can't believe how much my life has changed!! Just had my cloth nappies delivered and I'm so excited! How sad is that haha! Grin

Hi bike, welcome.

felix it's so funny when they do that.

Had an awful night last night, Cal wouldn't settle in his crib and ended up in bed on me and fed almost every hour, think he has a cold and growth spurt. I feel absolutely shattered and have just turfed both boys out with DP. Who was fallen on by cooing women the minute he stepped out the house (had toddler DS by the hand and Cal in the ergo). Humpf, tis alright for some.

Still not complaining, cup of tea and have my feet up for a bit. Trying to decide what to do on my birthday next Saturday.

Thanks felix. Does the Gaviscon have to go in a bottle? She doesn't do bottles...

Ooh nature, what did you get. I have to wait for Percy to hit 10lb before I can use mine so hopefully in a couple of weeks.

I'm doing the fill your pants nappy trial, so I have one each of charlie banana, mio solo, totabots, little lamb, blueberry prefold, smartipants and a pop in bamboo. Gives me a chance to see what fits and works before spending a fortune (because that will happen as they are so so cute Grin Grin)

Book you have to mix it with cooled boiled water so I always use a bottle, but you could always mix it then use a syringe. I only mix it with less that half an oz of water so should be ok with a syringe.

Report
BookTart · 07/03/2014 15:59

Syringe it is, thanks felix.

I just had to abandon my trolley in Sainsburys because she was screaming. In front of one of the Alpha Mummies from baby group as well. What I'd give to be able to have a lovely whiskey right now!

book it only takes 3 hours to get out your system or tobys link the other day shows it doesn't pass through at all. I've been having a glass of wine most evenings

Dammit, book! I was just in Sainsbury's too. I'd have come over for moral support.
Also, either your HV is a weird scaremongerer, or the ones I've seen are terribly lax. I think Percy could be heavier than Meredith now (she was 9lb 6oz last week) and M is between the 9th & 25th centiles for weight and length. Nobody has said a word about her, other than that she's normal. Certainly no talk of paediatricians.

I'm all about having a glass of wine if I want one. I'm quite irresponsible, though :o

I love cloth nappies, nature. I'm a definite convert. We use Little Lambs bamboo fitted. They're amazing. Good luck with your trial!

I'm surprised you didn't hear us toby! I would have wine, if I hadn't just left it in my trolley Sad

Why is my HV being so fecking hardcore? I'm quite close to telling her to get lost. She had another go at me about co-sleeping as well. Today has basically sucked balls. Roll on the weekend! Are people doing exciting things?

MrsVDB I'm lucky that dh is off work that day, which helps!

TobyLerone · 07/03/2014 17:37

I'd honestly tell her to get fucked, book. You don't have to see her, ever. She sounds like she's just worrying you. She could be right with the reflux thing, but she basically sounds like a div. Especially as the TT could easily cause some of the same symptoms.

I'm going to the station in a bit. If you meet me in the car park, I'll smuggle you some wine in a paper bag under cover of darkness Wink

fryingpantoface · 07/03/2014 17:41

book not much help, but I just lie about the whole co-sleeping thing. Just tell her you don't want her visiting

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 07/03/2014 17:45

book I'd ditch the HV too, she sounds grim and she's clearly NOT helping! Poor you, hope you get Wine

I too have a non sleeping baby - less than four hours so far today despite my best efforts. She sleeps at night, but just not in the day. Yet. I will win this war! Grin

Copper coil is ace - I had one before pg, and the fitting is okay but a bit ouch. But that's meant to go away if you have one after babies. They are a doddle.

Report
TobyLerone · 07/03/2014 17:56

Humpty, mine's the same. She sleeps for a good couple of hours in the morning, and then has about 3 15-minute naps throughout the day. By about 8pm she's too exhausted to eat, which means she wakes up a couple of hours later. Then feeds again at about 1ish and 4ish.
The last few nights she's been all big eyes and fidgeting after her 3/4am feed. She settles herself but it takes ages. I usually fall asleep before she does.

But I'm grateful she sleeps at night. So grateful.

TobyLerone · 07/03/2014 17:57

I think I'm decided on the copper coil, then. I'll talk to the dr at my check next week.

Hi all!! I am just about in the land of the living after a really full on week with dh in London all week, no childcare (older two in nursery for their usual two days, but not additional childcare) and my proposal which I submitted at 11pm last night, almost blind with exhaustion (and gin...had about a pint glass full of it by my side as I was pulling the budget together...god knows what I have actually proposed....I don't dare re read it)

Just a quickie on the coil, I don't want to scare anyone but my experience was pretty bad. I had the copper coil fitted as I didn't like the idea of hormones with the mirena. It wasn't bad having it fitted but pretty soon I found I was in quite a lot of pain over my period and on my goodness I bled buckets. I also lost quite a lot of weight and this could have possibly been related to the volume I was bleeding each month. Anyhow, I decided t have it removed by the gp and it turns out the coil had 'got lost' cue panic that it had been 'absorbed into my womb' (yes, apparently this is possible). It took about six months of of waiting for an appt, and in the end I had it removed under a general anaesthetic (the only way apparently). Once out I realised quite how sore my periods had been and how a normal blood loss was a tiny proportion of what the copper coil had out me through. So, y experience was shit and I will not contemplate doing it again. But, it is horses for courses and I am sure with 99% people it works just fine and won't get lost. The heavy periods happen to everyone though.

Mrsv, how is it going with your dh? Been thinking about you.

tarka - it's all good progress. That was how Lara started in her basket and now goes up to 5 hours but usually more like 3 Max.

toby lol at the 'irresponsible' comment. You and me both then. It's Friday night which is a wine night at my parents (where we are staying tonight) as is Thursday, Sunday and Monday!
I have the odd glass to remind me of a former life. :-)

Cold is definitely on its way out. Feel like a million dollars compared to earlier in the week. Lara has a cough now poor mite. And poor DS has a perforated ear drum. First sign was a goo coming out his ear. Feel terrible as apparently it wld have been painful before it burst and we didn't know. He really showed no symptoms of ear ache. He was grouchy and had a temperature a few weeks ago but it went after a bit and was controlled by calpol. He's fine in himself now too. All v strange.

Ooh..Lara is sleeping with her eyes wide open. Creepy!
Time to put her down and get some sleep!!

Have a nice weekend everyone!
Hope weather is nice where you are.
