I to have no adivce izzy but for n night bottles we have the pre made cartons (as p does not want to make FF up at all) all I do is cut the top off and place in bottle and warm up. N is not sleeping through the night too, it's mainly his cough but he too wakes up for milk.

P is being a controlling arse, he won't let me put N in the paddling pool or any other water, on account of his chest. Plus every time he walks down the stairs, he is always telling me, "don't do this!" Or his favorate at the moment is "he needs a bottle" it's driving mr crazy! Some I'm sat in a car park where the phone repcetion is crap.

Today I was going to take N to the beach, and it has been totally poo poped. He is also just whisking N off to his mum, when I ask him to watch him, while I do stuff. Please don't get me started on the pouches again.

big hugs.

Right. I want my little darlings to have a nap. I want to have a full on temper tantrum. Would be tempted to get in the pram and theow toys out of it for dramatic effect.

YellowWellies · 19/07/2013 14:56

Izzy I was going to say I could cope either with sleeplessness and comfort eating or an exclusion diet and sleep. A reduced diet and no sleep is impossibly hard. I'm betting that supermarket chicken had butter or milk powder on its skin. So many things even fecking chips can have milk powder. I think for the sake of his oral aversion and before it starts affecting his speech I'd consider FF. I totally get your logic about night feeds - BF is easier when you're being woken so frequently especially as you can't get neocate and nutramigen ready made but hopefully once on them and on a good whack of meds he won't be waking up a gazillion times. I can also see why making the switch once the hot weather has gone might be less scary. Sad

ValiumQueen · 19/07/2013 15:11

And perhaps the most important:

  1. you can eat chocolate and drink alcohol :-)
Evilwater · 19/07/2013 15:23

Thanks pr I know he is trying to help but OMG what a nazi!

izzy you have had some wonderful advice here - from YW and VQ in particular. My personal view is that you should switch to FF. You have done incredibly well to carry on this far. You really are incredible. FF at night needn't be too much of a faff. A mini fridge or cool bag in J's room to keep the bottles in and a bottle warmer to heat them up. O actually takes his feeds straight from the fridge. We all truly have yours and J's best interests at heart xxx

Lily, yep O can turn around in his jumperoo. He seems to prefer that to jumping.

I am so proud of Oscar today. My heart feels like it could burst. Things that would probably seem like nothing to anybody else, but I am so pleased with his good 'school report' from the HV yesterday and coping with the popping of a tooth without calpol. And today I took him to Pets at Home and a supermarket. He loved the fish and guinea pigs and was trying to catch the fish through the glass. At the supermarket he sat in the trolley, babbling (Mamama Smile ) and singing to anyone who would listen and attempting to wave at the checkout girl. He also sat on a sofa in the cafe eating his lunch so nicely. He was tired as it was past nap time, but he didn't so much as whinge once. He is just such a good boy. Incredibly proud of him.

PetiteRaleuse · 19/07/2013 15:30

What a lovely, positive post chasing :)

ChasingDaisy · 19/07/2013 15:35

Today is a good day Smile

Does anybody else's baby get dark circles under their eyes when they're tired? Me and XP get terrible dark circles and O seems to have inherited them. It isn't a sign of any deficiency is it?

StuntNun · 19/07/2013 15:58

Chasing every time I read XP in one of your posts I get a lovely warm feeling because I know you're safe from him now.

The ankle is sprained but not too badly thanks Madame but I have it strapped up and hopefully will be able to keep it elevated at least some of the time today.

Lovely post chasing

izzybizzybuzzybees · 19/07/2013 16:18

vq neocate is the purest amino acid based formula and most suitable for multiple allergies according to the consultant. Maybe she just prefers it, who knows really! Its also the most expensive!

I've given j two bottles today in the hope when he stays at mums he will take them. First he took 4oz and just there he took 6oz! Each bottle was 4oz neocate to 2oz BM .

I so appreciate all the advice, that's what I need, to see each persons opinions in black and white. It's helping, thank you.

ValiumQueen · 19/07/2013 16:27

That is pretty good going Izzy, especially considering it is daytime. Makes sense about the neocate too.

Would you consider just expressing now so your supply eases gently and you can transfer him onto neocate neat gently, or stop it immediately for him and pump and dump?

ValiumQueen · 19/07/2013 16:30

I hate giving night feeds with a bottle too. I currently run downstairs, nuke one, add gaviscon and return to a screaming baby, or when he has been ill I take him downstairs with me as I know he will vom everywhere.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 19/07/2013 16:53

I'm still not sure whether I'm ready to stop or not yet. I think I'd express and continue to alter the ratio of BM to neocate until he will accept a full bottle. I don't think it'd take long if I wasnt feeding him from the breast at all. I don't think I'd be able to alternate boob and bottle as he doesn't have set feeding times so would be awkward I think.

Och I don't know what to do! I just don't feel ready to stop feeding him and it almost feels selfish to continue. pass made a good point that i may actually be exposing him to allergens just now and could potentially be making things worse!

YellowWellies · 19/07/2013 16:59

Izzy whatever you choose to do NEITHER option is selfish as you are choosing to do it with the best of intentions. xx

Evilwater · 19/07/2013 17:01

chasing what a fantastic day you've had!

ValiumQueen · 19/07/2013 17:50

Izzy I don't think you will ever feel 100% sure that what you are doing is for the best as it is not clear cut. I think if you are waiting to be sure then you will be waiting until he self weans. How about trying for a couple of weeks, putting him cold turkey on full neocate. But continue to pump to maintain supply. It would be a good practice for surgery too. You could then see if there was any change in him, and assess how you feel also.

Pikz · 19/07/2013 18:11

Izzy I like VQs suggestion of put him full on formula but pump to maintain supply and see what happens..

No one feels ready to stop... Even with all the downsides I wasn't ready to stop expressing but I knew I couldn't give him all he wanted.

Chasing what a lovely post.

After a horrific day yesterday today we discovered tumble tots. It was ace and he has eaten and slept better since it. If you want to knacker them out its ace!!

PetiteRaleuse · 19/07/2013 19:22

Desperately trying to get LO's room under 28 degrees. Life is tough in the Raleuse hosuehold tonight. Everyone is pissed off and sweaty.

Passmethecrisps · 19/07/2013 19:39

Wine PR

Kirrin · 19/07/2013 20:13

Lovely post chasing :)

28 degrees in N's room too. The velux windows seem to have a greenhouse effect, even with the blinds shut. Unfortunately our downstairs bedrooms open straight on to the living area and so aren't really practical for kids' bedrooms, which is a shame as they tend to be a bit cooler.

Glad S is doing better madame

PetiteRaleuse · 19/07/2013 20:25

Ha pass

Coincidence, but DD1 spilt my Wine earlier. She was all, oh, no problem, we wipe, like I do with her spills.

Except it was good wine. Very good wine.

:(

Passmethecrisps · 19/07/2013 20:45

Doh!

I just spent approx 1.5 hours rocking and shoosh patting and running up and down the stairs. I feel pumped!

Made me wonder . . . Where the feck luis and mrsgarcia?

YellowWellies · 19/07/2013 20:54

Daddy is having to do the final bit of bedtime tonight as after having both barrels and being gently rocked in the rocking chair for the last hour - the bear is wide awake and just delighted with stroking my face and smiling and then trying to grab my nose Hmm seriously heart achingly cute but its bedtime you wee feck Wink Confused

ChasingDaisy · 19/07/2013 20:54

I had been pondering that too pass.
