Excellent thread ending. Thanks for the earworm. Good to know I'm not the only person who spends far too much time in front of cbeebies :)

PR, Donna, VQ I think we're cut from the same cloth - think any 'party' will involve a candle in a shop bought sponge cake (unless he's still off dairy, then poor bugger I'll have to bake one) and having my sis and the kids over to scoff said cake. There's years of expensive birthdays to come - this year the wrapping paper and balloons will be excitement enough!

Something strange happened this morning and may it last long. O woke at 6 and as she went down at 6.30 I went in to get her up for the day. I picked her up and she screamed, arched her back, shaking her head and looking down at her cot. I gave her a kiss, put her back and she went back to sleep till 7. Clever girl.

She is spending overnight with my parents as I'm treating my sister to go to an open air theatre to watch the Phantom of the Operahouse. She will be fine, not sure about me.

I'm going to New York in October with O. Any advice whether it's better to fly in the morning or afternoon or evening in terms of disturbing her sleep?

Well done O! S took a leaf out of O's book last night and slept 6:15 - 6 not even a dummy wake up.
pr snail eating sent shivers down my spine, I'm sure we will all have it to come, we used to play with worms, not sure about eating them though.

So what are everyone's plans for this glorious day? We were going to go to the seaside but as dp pointed out, everyone will have the same idea and it will be packed, so we will get the paddling pool out for S instead. Dp got a mahoosive shed last week so he can get all of his crap tools and things out of the house and put them in there as his task for today.

dicks I'm not sure how much nappies cost in France exactly. It's a while since I looked, as I always buy them in Germany. I'll have a look today though. Lucky you going to the Dordogne - it's beautiful down there Envy

If you're renting a car though Lidl will certainly be cheaper than Intermarché. If the French ones sell nappies of course.

Morning, seriously debated staying up later last night to finally finish a thread, til remembered had to be out for work at 8am today bry did it in style anyway.

No big party here, just a family tea. l always make a cake tho so alreadyy debating what it?ll be. Dd (6) is going to a school friends star wars themed fancy dress party tomorrow. No iddea what to dress her in!

No fun plans today as sh and l both working and ILs babysitting. Had a lovely day yesterday tho. Dcs had an inset day so we went to Manchester Museum and Mcdonalds (discovered H loves fishfingers Blush). Only realiissed when halfway home that dd was still carrying the family acticity rucksack that you can borrow while at the museum. Looks like we?ll be making another trip sooner than expected then!

Hope everyone has good days.

Thanks PR, I'm going to see how many nappies I can fit in, I'll shove a few in each bag. I can't wait, so excited! The weather looks amazing at the moment. I'm dreading the flight though, we're flying at 6am so have to leave for the airport at 3am Shock. Not sure how this will affect B's sleeping pattern. Glad to see the Nov babies are sleeping better, B mostly sleeps 7-7 now, although she did wake this morning at 6.15 making a noise like an alley cat.

I will be at a wedding on E's first birthday. She will be staying overnight at the in laws so I'll hardly see her :-( it's my birthday the day after hers so I'll do some sort of joint celebration either the week before or after.

DD1 had a big first party. She's had a party every year so I guess it's only fair to do the same with E. I'll keep it more low key though till she's old enough to know anything about it.

I had a lovely night out last night. Feeling a bit bleugh after too much Wine. When will I learn!

Off to a BBQ at my sisters today so should be a fun day.

Meowning.

Nice ending bry

No party here. I never had birthday parties and DH has horrid memories of birthday parties being surrounded by noisy children he didn't like

Misanthropes, both of us.

Sunny here. Weather forecast promises it won't be as warm but it is pretty toasty at the moment. No idea what we are going to do. DH is home now having been away. I think we should go to the safari park. But I always want to do that.

Everyone will be there today Pass. Have you bought a season ticket yet? You could go every day then.

I am knackered as usual. Last night J slept better, from 11-5, but DD2 was coughing a lung up, and she fell out of bed and landed on her nose at 3am.

I have a sore swollen tongue, possibly a side effect from the tablets, in which case it is a bit worrying. Tongue abscesses are very rare and that is what it feels like. My glands are up in my neck too, and my ear hurts. Just as well I am not a racing horse as they would have put me down by now.

I brought J downstairs at 5, gave him a bottle, and we both fell asleep. Next I know it is 7 am and DH is trying to give him a bottle. I tell DH he is not hungry and will be crying for something else. Eventually DH realises they are both covered in shit. Watching him change the nappy with the girls help was the funniest thing ever. I think he understands a bit more now.

Morning all, we got 6:45-6 so not too shabby, looks like sleep was had quichewide? Woohoo!! I reckon e didn't take enough milk yesterday, or rather not enough milk or solids, as he had less of both yesterday but will keep going as we are for a few days and see what happens. I found it hard keeping him awake between naps yesterday, he still likes to be awake for 2-3 hours max at a time. Ah well if I have to I'll go back to bed at 8 and 3 naps in the day. Best to give it a bit longer though right? :)

vq sorry you had yet another crap night :( it just isn't fair :( and you do not need more illness! I think you should all go in a bubble for a year to recover if only :( lol I hope your dh had fun with that one!

Weird. O did not go back to sleep. So I decided to put him back in his cot with his toys. He usually plays for a good 30 minutes. 1 hr 40 later and he finally called for us. Confused

I know he didn't go back to sleep because I listened to him playing for the first 40 minutes. Then I must have fell back to sleep myself. I always wake at his first cry so no idea why he stayed in the cot so long?! It was 8.10 when I got him out! He was stood up on the bars trying to climb out. Of course. Hmm

So if anyone hasn't lowered their cot - O would have been out of his today!

Passmethecrisps · 13/07/2013 11:06

For goodness sake VQ! I cannot believe it. Poor DD2's nose. The poo change did make me laugh though.

Yeah, the safari park will be packed. I should get a season ticket - 4 weeks left of mat leave so I am sure I could make the money back. We could do and see a different animal every day!

I am not sure what is happening today but next week's job has to be sorting out naps. DH is up there just now trying to settle p and it is horrendous. She is absolutely inconsolable between short moments of being cooried in with her eyes shut.

Report
Passmethecrisps · 13/07/2013 11:15

Our cot is lowered but I am still not convinced that a particularly determined p wouldn't be able to get out.

I know that safari park - it's brilliant! Went when I was 17.

Market was lovely. DD1 got spoiled with lots of free tastes. It's useful taking the children.

vq Flowers can't believe you had another shit night. :o at DH and the cacastrophe. My DH manages to use half a pack of wipes on big shitty nappies, and says ooh la la a lot.

Passmethecrisps · 13/07/2013 11:35

Given up on nap time. We will pay for that later.

The safari park is approximately 6 miles from my house! Wish it was closer because then we could hear the lions roaring.

Back to the docs VQ?

I am currently on the sofa holding a sleeping baby. Haven't done this for ages - it's lovely Grin My arm went numb a bit quicker than it used to though, she's a proper lump now.

My bug's on show at the local park so I'll bimble on down in a bit - it's only over the road - then off to the paddling pool in my folks' garden later. Feeding now, still need to fit in ab, lunch and naps...

Ah you get used to it yw . Must admit though when I first started going out with French men it made my tummy go all butterflyish every time they said it :o (lifelong francophile). I say it myself now on occasion.

I did :) when DD1 first said it. My little froglet.

dicks you're looking at about 19-22? ++ per pack of nappies (half a big box) in French supermarkets. That would be huggies or pampers. I don't know what own brand ones cost in Intermarché or, indeed, even if they do them. Haven't got a Lidl round here but a quick google shows that French Lidls do stock nappies and they have a good reputation on mumsy sites and are far far cheaper.

Envy of you living so close to the safari park pass We have a very small local zoo that I take the girls to occasionally as the parkland is nice and wooded (shade). Other than that we have a large zoo about 25 miles away - I think I will get a season ticket next year for that as it is pretty good, and good conservation wise. I love watching the sea lions. The so called Best zoo in France is right the other side of France near my ILs, and much cheaper too for some reason. But I prefer the one near me and not just because it doesn't involve seeing the ILs

When I was in England we meant to go to the South Lakes zoo but didn't make it - we were sick of driving around so much and figured that the girls would get much more out of it the next time we visit which will probably be in two or three years. BD safari park is wonderful though. I remember the monkeys climbing all over the car and trying to snap off the windscreen wipers. Of course it would be better if all the animals were safe in their natural habitat but unfortuately that isn't possible. Zoos do a great job of educating us about respect for animals.

Though I always have at least one run in with some twatty parents who think encouraging their kids to bang on the monkey or gorilla enclosures is a good idea. Wankers. Angry
