Oh izzy, that's rough. Hope you managed some rest in that time at least. Lovely of them to give you a break - I don't know how you've been managing.

Bryzoan · 15/07/2013 18:43

Ouch mm! That's gotta hurt.

ChasingDaisy · 15/07/2013 18:55

bry that made me cry! Smile

Oscar fell off the bed Sad It's a high one too Sad Knocked his head on the way down and has a bruise appearing to the side. He cried straight away and sobbed in my arms for ages muttering mumumum Sad He is calpoled up and about to be transferred to cot.

FatimaLovesBread · 15/07/2013 19:07

Love the limericks Grin

Sounds like he's reverse cycling izzy no idea how to help though. Sorry you are having such a shit time.

Sounds like a lovely day mm

Oh chasing poor O! He'll be fine though. Since the cricket ball to the head M seems to have banged it loads. It's hard work when all she wants to do is climb Smile

M is saying mummy!! Well mummummummum! DH had her and I walked in to the room and she grinned and started saying mum Grin

Just had a ridiculously big Next sale order arrive!

Northern meet tomorrow? Anyone? What's happening? May have to go to FB

izzybizzybuzzybees · 15/07/2013 19:09

mm he can go around 5 hours after his first morning feed which has been 'normal' for him. But never that long! He isn't great with bottles rho and when he stayed with my sis a few weeks ago had one bottle in 20 odd hours! Not sure what I can do to rectify this and I'm pretty sure because of this tonight will be even shitter that usual, if indeed that is possible!

pidj loved the rhyme!

Lily311 · 15/07/2013 19:13

Nice rhyme. Had a lovely day in Budapest with my friend, sadly didn't manage to go to ikea. O was a superstar.

I have a cream corner sofa. Not child friendly but who cares? I wanted it, I got it. I will worry about cleaning it later.

Bloody af here too, losing too much blood and now have headache.

ChasingDaisy · 15/07/2013 19:17

Hi-5 for impractical sofas Lily

PetiteRaleuse · 15/07/2013 19:19

bry excellent poetry :o only 60 odd more to do :)

PetiteRaleuse · 15/07/2013 19:20

chasing first banged head of many? Poor little O.

ValiumQueen · 15/07/2013 19:29

Pass yes the Dr thinks the antibiotics caused the thrush. I do not think it is thrush though. Have had thrush before and usually get it both ends and it is only my top end which is sore. And thrush does not make you feel like you have a marble in your tongue.

Jacob is quite vocal, with dadada, mamama, rarara, gagaga, bababa, and I swear he said hiya earlier but must have just been a random thing. He can clap like a pro, and waves when he feels like it.

MaMaPo · 15/07/2013 19:29

Hello fred, how are all the babies managing in the heat? I think little C is doing OK, but then she has Australian blood and also has to learn to cope with it, we move back just in time for long hot Aussie summer

Very impressed with limericks by you lot! It took me an embarrassingly long time to work out 'quichester' - my brain was trying to parse it as something like Leicester or Manchester, so I got a wee bit confused.

Very impressed by all these crawling, talking babies! C is very likely to say mumum or dadada before crawling. She chats away loads but is completely uninterested in moving. I popped her on her tummy with toys just out of reach, and she strained for them a couple of times then just played with her own hands. She's perhaps a little too laid back for her own good just like her father

ValiumQueen · 15/07/2013 19:35

We went to view the house btw. On Saturday. Oh dear. Poor poor house has been really really badly treated. The description was rather inaccurate too.

Driveway with room for numerous cars = barely room for two cars to park side by side, and no room to turn.

Well stocked and well kept gardens = overgrown borders with a small section of mowed lawn front and back.

Sits in a sizeable plot of 1/3 acre = if you were a Polly Pocket then perhaps.

Everything would need doing, and there were false ceilings and raised floors everywhere, plus you could smell the damp the second you walked in. The stairs were lovely though. And there was an uncovered manhole on the drive! I could have lost a kid or two down it had I not noticed.

BigPigLittlePig · 15/07/2013 19:43

Evening all.

Chasing we have a white sofa too. Bought it pre-dsd, pre-cat, pre-everything. Currently there is biscuit, green felt-tip and mud on it at least I hope it's mud but it washes, and who cares anyway!? Huzzah to white sofas!

Izzy I think F was beginning to reverse cycle at one point, as she would have 2 feeds during the day, but 4 overnight. Offering more milk, or more often, during the day didn't work - refusing to feed at night did, although it felt cruel. It's certainly not easy to sort out when you are as sleep-deprived as you are Thanks

VQ hope the mystery tongue ailment sorts itself soon.

Bry love the limericks, made me chuckle!

Work was fine, actually quite boring. Very slow and very very hot. F had a blast at nursery, slept like a trooper and ate well. Only issue was the milk. Usually she'd have 14oz, but today only had 6. And has had 4 at bed. Not very much at all. Tried to put her to bed at 6 as usual, and she was having none of it. She spent an hour spinning and rolling on the floor, and is now in bed having self-settled for the first time ever! Shame I have to get her up to collect dh from work now.

PetiteRaleuse · 15/07/2013 19:53

vq poor house. And lying sodding estate agents Angry

pig must be a massive relief that nursery went so well. Well done little F, I hope she is knackered and you get a good night's sleep once you're home. I remember how well DD1 slept the first few nights of CM days

Passmethecrisps · 15/07/2013 20:07

Good evening lady peeps.

That's disappointing about the house VQ. Your tongue thing sounds horrid.

Very impressive rhyming skillz laydeez! Despite my obvious hip hop credentials I have no such skillz.

How is your finger izzy? Still borked? I suppose I can skeg at it tomorrow really, can't I?

Your day sounds lovely MM.

I am vair impressed with these chatter boxes. P blah blah blahs all the time but nothing like words. At the closest she makes a mumumumum sound web upset and I have been certain I have heard hiya. No waving and no clapping yet.

Well, p is down for the night bonjela'd to the max. She ate a load at tea time but I am never sure how to know if she is finished. If she was waking with hunger she would a actually cry wouldn't she? Also at her first bottle she barely took 140ml. If she had been waking with hunger then she would be starving by first bottle, no?

I have a horrid feeling there might need to be some sleep training. And after today's hysterics I am not looking forward to that one bit.

I shall keep telling myself it is teeth. . .

Passmethecrisps · 15/07/2013 20:18

What a relief BP! Like night and day. Glad work was ok as well. Decent day all round then.

YellowWellies · 15/07/2013 20:18

Jonas does mamamam and dadadad and gagaga at nothing in particular and bababa (always at the cat) but I've no sense he'll be an early talker or walker. DMIL said neither of her two did stuff spectacularly early. Yes I have a non-competitive MIL Grin. I only want him to move to ease his frustration - I think if I had a baby like Det's O I wouldn't know what to do!

Looking forward to catching up with you lovely ladies tomo!

PurplePidjin · 15/07/2013 20:31

Love the idea of us all living in Quichester :o

I have a cream sofa, but it's wipe clean and cost £50. I recommend superking size flat sheets to cover crap sofas (I've never been able to afford a new one so am the master of student-style improvisation) they also make good tents Wink

R sleeps better when he's fed more during the day. Had a particularly shit night a few weeks ago when I'd been out and not fed, but got back on track by sticking rigidly to feeding every 2 hours the next day. He was a bit sicky from an overfull tum, but his sleep righted. Just need him to grow out of his current need for two feeds a night now!

He went down fairly easily at 7. So i predict wake ups at 12:30 and 4. Bizarrely he sleeps later when he's gone down earlier Hmm

ChasingDaisy · 15/07/2013 20:49

YW O always blows raspberries at the dog. And at dinner today they were gazing at each other, Oscar with a massive grin on his face and the dog with a real soppy look. Cute.

Fab news about nursery pig, must make going to work easier.

Lily I reckon we would get on well. I have a feeling we will meet one day.

Pikz · 15/07/2013 20:52

I loooooove the rhymes!

I have a nutcase who has decided he wants to be like detectives O. God helping him when he can walk which I doubt will be long away.

Pass I've been doing a lot of talking to the head of nursery at my mums school to help me with advice on naps and sleep. This is what she told me in essence.

  1. Pick a nap as a starting point, morning nap is a good one as if you crack this apparently the rest often follow. The morning nap should be at least 2-3 hours after they wake.
  1. Get very consistent. No rocking. They use a cd of lullabies in the nursery. You make the room darkish, put them down in cot and then sit next to cot and play the cd. If they get very distraught pat and rub them but don't pick up.

You then move further away from the cot as they get more comfortable.

  1. You should be aiming for at least 1-2 hours for morning nap and an hour in the afternoon as a minimum if they sleep well at night.

Have to admit I've been going since Saturday and my screaming non napping boy was asleep within 6 minutes this morning and slept for an hour and a half! I like it as I can't do controlled crying.

ChasingDaisy · 15/07/2013 21:00

That's really helpful pikz as I am starting my plan to get Oscar to nap in his cot tomorrow. I wanted to run my plan past the quiche....

Step1. Use Ikea bear as a sleep prop for all naps. Sleeping with it tonight so it smells of mummy.

  1. From nap 1 tomorrow onwards, rock/feed O to sleep as normal but then lay him down next to me as opposed to on me.
  1. Once this is happening successfully, progress to putting him in cot once asleep.
  1. Put him in cot awake and hope for the best....Confused

This all sounds a bit elaborate but he has never napped in his cot. Ever. So I have bad habits to break. Is my plan ok? Or should I bite the bullet and tey self settling in cot straight away?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 15/07/2013 21:01

The things one can do with super king flat sheets ppGrin

BigPigLittlePig · 15/07/2013 21:20

Chasing that is essentially what I did with F, many moons ago now it seems. She got there - and pikz has some sensible advice about which nap to pick. I dealt with the morning one first, as it was the one she was always the most reliably tired for, and meant I could crack on and do something, eg. cook tea/have a shower. The rest have followed with time.

No chatting here yet. Only moos.

Kyzordz · 15/07/2013 21:24

Evening all, how is everybody?

fruit e wouldn't touch cereal really until I used cows milk but I might try again with his formula and see if it works. He drains the morning bottle in about 3 minutes so I'm pretty sure he will still want milk before anything else but it's worth a go :) I don't want his milk intake to drop too suddenly, he has dropped to 24-26 oz which is a lot less from 40 or so before solids! Yay for crawling too :)

Aww chasing that's lovely! Do hope he's not coming down with anything though bless him. Your house will look fucking awesome and be all you and o ish :) bless him re: the fall, poor little man :( they all do it at some point though, e has fallen off a footstool, I think it's just part and parcel of growing up. Hope the calpol helps him

pass I feel the same re teeth, I swear e has been teething for the longest time with sod all to show for it!! Hope wee p is back on track soon bless her. I also struggle sometimes with e as he will often just keep on eating! When he is definitely finished he blows raspberries none stop though and for breakfast he is nosy and barely opens his mouth if he isn't fussed with it, his lips open a bit and I could push the spoon in but he doesn't actually open his mouth so I take it to mean he doesn't want any :/

vq sounds like more than thrush, that! I do hope you are better soon! I am also really glad J liked the yoghurt :) can you get dairy free custard am clueless as e liked that and then would take it with mashed banana in and other fruits :) or would he be allowed jelly? I know these things aren't awfully healthy but it's a start and might encourage him that bit more :) I know you know much more than I do about weaning and babies in general so feel free to tell me to churrup :)

Hope they do intend on paying you for proper lessons pr :)

izzy that must be quite frustrating because clearly he can go without the food, but getting him to at night doesn't seem to be a goer does it

Loving the rhymes bry!

Aw fatima how sweet :) I think e was saying no today but I'm not sure, it was nonononono when I took his juice after he tipped it everywhere and the same when his daddy left for work (with a tear too :() but ill see if he does it again now

Make sure you drink plenty and look after yourself lily

E cannot clap yet, doesn't even try. He can wave but prefers to shriek at people in acknowledgement of their arrival

Woohoo for self settling bplp shame you have to get her up. Glad she enjoyed nursery too :D good stuff!

chasing that sounds like a nice slow way of doing it :) before trying that you could always go straight for the in cot awake/after fed to sleep and see what happens? I did that with Eric, he used to nap on the sofa and learned to roll so one day I just started from the morning nap and put him in the cot awake, I'd kept him up a bit longer than usual so he was really quite sleepy and that was that. pikz's advice sounds good stuff too :)

E has been doing his new routine since Thursday and it seems to be going ok :) after the first day though he hasn't taken more than 3oz at his tea time bottle. He is eating well and has started to drain the lunchtime bottle and barely touch that last one. I am giving him a week and then might just make 4oz up for tea time. That's alright isn't it? . I haven't been as strict with the routine as I usually would be, I'm not sure if that's better or not. He gets put down at 2 for a nap and whatever time he wakes up at dictates when he goes to bed at. I put him to bed 3 hours after he wakes. Today he woke at half four, had tea at 4:45, ate a metric fucktonne, drank 2oz, then bottle at 7:15 and bed at 7:30. Tomorrow will mean similar or bed at 8 but after that I hope it goes closer to 7 so might after put him down for a nap at 1:30 or so because he's seeming to sleep for 2.5-3 hours for that nap.

Another weigh in tomorrow, am only going cos I want them to measure his length so they stop moaning he is too big.

Hope I haven't missed anything! How is the fair detective today?

Hope you are having a nice holiday stunt

ValiumQueen · 15/07/2013 21:43

Kyz they are all different. The girls were textbook AK weaners. It was helpful you suggesting puddings as I had forgotten about those believe it or not.

Jacob has two more teeth to the side of his top Bugs Bunny ones. His skin is so much better today so I had a feel. I knew they were coming. I think teeth have a lot to answer for.

That is six teeth now. Do we win?
