As I already have two older dc (4&5) who are slightly fussy she eats a lot of the same things as them, they wouldn't eat anything full of herbs and spices or even onions!
Dds menu today has been

7oz & porridge made with another 3 oz
Half slice toast &6oz
Chicken curry and rice
Fruit pot
3oz and 2 rice cakes
Chicken dinner
Yogurt
6oz

Mumof3xx · 28/11/2013 20:19

Where are you all!

katy14 · 29/11/2013 15:49

Hi, I'm new to munsnet and dd was born in April 2013. Wondered if you still use this thread or if I should join the Facebook group I've seen mentioned. I have tried to click on the Facebook link at the beginning of this thread but can't seem to get in. Thanks in advance x

Cannotbelieveit · 29/11/2013 22:24

Hi Katy we tend to use the fb group much more x

Send me a private message on her and we will get it sorted and add you on x

Mumof3xx · 30/11/2013 08:09

Cannotbelieveit · 30/11/2013 09:02

Mum of 3 it's not that people don't want to come on here now it's just nice to share pictures and know who you are talking to. There's been a fair fee meet ups too which is lovely x

Cannotbelieveit · 30/11/2013 09:03

Mumof3xx · 30/11/2013 09:10
Sad
Cannotbelieveit · 30/11/2013 10:14

Is there a particular reason you won't join it? It's completely private, no one can see our group or the posts or members

Mumof3xx · 30/11/2013 15:06

We have a no FB rule in the house because of drama it can cause

birdbrain21 · 30/11/2013 20:59

mumof3 don't worry I also don't have facebook or plan on getting (complicated reasons...) so I'm still around.
Welcome katy

so dd has finally decided that she will also have finger foods (before she was only interested in me feeding her mashed up stuff) which makes giving her snacks much easier but I need snack ideas. Her normal menu is something along the lines of

wheetabix and breast feed
snack ?!?!
lunch-yoghurt/banana etc and breast feed
snack ?!?!
vegetable puree with protein e.g chicken/lentils in puree (mashed not liquidised)
breast feed

birdbrain21 · 30/11/2013 21:00

can I give her crackers etc for a snack? She doesn't have any teeth so normally sucks things till they're soggy so she can chew...

Mumof3xx · 01/12/2013 07:37

I haven't tried crackers yet bird

Dd has fruit, rice cakes or toast for snacks with the occasional baby biscuit

She's been taking finger foods quite a while, and I'm now not really mashing anything just giving her small soft pieces

Dd is 8 months tomorrow and it's gone so fast!

birdbrain21 · 01/12/2013 15:29

I did think about rice cakes but was worried about her choking on the little bits that crumble off iykwim.I gave her a piece of apple today whih she spent a happy half hour playing with and chomping on, didn't really eat very much of it but I'm still bf her so not worried about her being hungry.

Cannotbelieveit · 01/12/2013 16:21

For snacks we have fruit/rice cakes/organix biscuits/toast with various toppings or spreads

Mumof3xx · 01/12/2013 18:37

Lots of rice cakes are 7m+

Dd has been having them since then and no probs

She likes the Asda blueberry ones best 87p a packet and about 20 in a pack

katy14 · 01/12/2013 21:21

Good to here how you are all getting on with finger foods. Is anyone having problems getting their babies to accept diff textures and lumps? Dd is 7.5 months and struggles with anything but the smoothest puree. She'll either clam up if it's being spoon fed or if it's finger food she'll put it in her mouth then either spit it out or throw it up again. She gets quite distressed about it all. Wondering whether I should give up on lumps for a couple of weeks then try again. She's beginning to get suspicious of anything I give her. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Btw still can't get into the fb group.

Smile
Bakerof3pudsxx · 01/12/2013 21:50

Sorry katy can't help you there

Why don't you make a thread about this I am sure you would get more views and advice

Cannotbelieveit · 01/12/2013 22:12

Katy send me a private message on here and I will get you added on to the fb group x

Mama1980 · 02/12/2013 08:10

Hi just checking saying I'm still lurking just have no time at all these days Grin
How is everyone?
I can't believe Alex is nearly 1 !!! Grin And he loves rice cakes too, the organic blueberry ones I have to wrestle them out his hands or he'd eat the whole lot (and nothing else!) I will try to get some pics on fb soon. X

birdbrain21 · 02/12/2013 13:27

katy to get dd to eat lumps I started by giving her banana (which is something I knew she loved) and mashing it very well instead of pureeing so it didn't really have lumps but was a thicker texture then was she was used to that I gave her other foods just not pureed as well as usual and gradually increased the amount of lumps till now I'm just quickly mashing her food with a fork. She also didn't really get the hang of finger food at first (despite 'eating' all her toys) I weaned her at 5 months and only now at 7.5 months is she starting to take an interest in finger food...

mama wow can't believe alex is nearly 1 I still remember how you had me a pregnant emotional wreck when you were postin this time last year how you thought you wouldn't make it! You are a real inspiration and alex's story is a heart-warming miracle I look forward to hear more installments of his amazing story Grin Thanks

katy14 · 02/12/2013 13:59

Thanks for the advice birdbrain. I'll have to try something as today she's stopped eating any of the smooth veg puree she used to like too. Managed to get a fruit compote and a fromage frais down her, but it was a trial. Wondering whether we're going to have to go back to square one with her!

X

Cannotbelieveit · 02/12/2013 14:51

Messaged you back Katy x

Cannotbelieveit · 02/12/2013 14:52
