Bird it's fine so far but then again H is a good boy.

He's always taken bigger feeds as he sleeps 12-13 hours at night so didn't have long to fit all his quota in!

AmberLav · 13/10/2013 03:46

Morning all! Just back from a week's holiday, andnot much to catch up on here...

Bird they don't need teeth to move on from puree, as their teeth are fairly useless for the first year or so - their gums do all the chomping. There is a risk that if you stay on purees too long they will get funny about lumps. You may want to consider using mashes now, if you think she's ready.

E is now 24 weeks, so think it's time to break out the food... can't decide what to start with! She's still fairly useless at sitting, but so was her brother at this stage...

AmberLav · 13/10/2013 07:45

Jo - you will probably decide in time to limit some of the night time feeds, maybe if you are going back to work soonish, or some other reason. At least you know she's not really needing all those feeds - I use DH for the early part of the night on the theory that E won't associate him with milk (that's my excuse anyway! ) and she settles with him. With A, I changed to a bottle once he was down to just one night feed, as I could cut back on the milk more easily that way, and he dropped that bottle within 3 nights!

birdbrain21 · 16/10/2013 22:27

so we finally bought a highchair (been using her bouncer to feed her in till now) and I think now I've got somewhere to sit her with a tray I may brave finger foods I hate mess and stickiness Ideas please what finger foods have people started their lo's on?!

Mumof3xx · 19/10/2013 11:59

Dd has had toast and cheese spread crust less sandwiches so far both went really well

Tried her on banana but she choked

Jo1984uk · 19/10/2013 18:38

Amberlav it's funny because sometimes she only has 2 feeds a night and other times it's more like 6. She was playing with daddy downstairs perfectly happy this morning til she saw me and remembered milk existed! She's not feeding too much during the day, about 5 milk feeds today.

No plans to return to work just yet luckily. Not sure how the finances will be looking in a few months though!

Birdbrain S loves eggy bread, fresh filled pasta, bread with hummus/ cream cheese, steamed apple/pear and today we discovered she is lasagne mad! Am gona attempt to make a fresh one next week, we cut the pasta sheets into little strips (the ones with white sauce on) and she loves it.

We are pretty much going down the 'blw' route but I don't really like calling it that, more like S led weaning. If she doesn't like something in pieces I do mush it and give her the spoon. Tbh I find she gags more with mashed food.

Mumof3xx · 19/10/2013 18:42

No when you say fresh filled pasta do you mean the stuff from supermarket? Or are you clever and do your own?

Mumof3xx · 19/10/2013 18:42

Jo not no

AmberLav · 20/10/2013 02:13

E doesn't appear to be that interested in food yet...completely
different to her brother!

Mumof3xx · 20/10/2013 07:29

Dd is very interested in food! She had a paddy over her brothers having yogurts yesterday even though she had already had one!

Mama1980 · 20/10/2013 08:08

I will trish sorry just need unbelievably busy Grin
Lovely to hear how everyone is getting on.
Alex crawled just now not very coordinated but definite movement then he screamed in delight!!!! GrinGrinGrinGrin He's now too excited to try again though keeps collapsing on his tummy.

Mumof3xx · 20/10/2013 08:09

Oh how cute and clever!
Dd is still at the lying on belly waving all arms and legs and looking cross that it doesn't work stage! She can wiggle and roll all over the place though and she is now sitting for a good couple of mins at a time unsupported

birdbrain21 · 20/10/2013 10:15

mama thtat sounds incredibly cute I'm smiling at the thought!
Thanks for the finger food ideas will see what she likes Smile with purees she's eaten anything I've given her so we'll see what happens with finger foods....

Cannotbelieveit · 21/10/2013 10:26

Wow well done Alex!!

Jo1984uk · 26/10/2013 18:44

Mumof3 yes I give S the fresh pasta from the supermarket from the chilled section. I just make sure the salt level is not too high.

Mama yay to Alex crawling what a clever little boy he is Smile

S can sit up unaided now, I have made her a little treasure basket she loves it. So far it has a variety of ribbons, pastry brush, steel pots, a shell, silver bell and a few other bits. Can't believe how long it holds her attention for. Next thing to go in will be some 'smelly' bits like dried orange slices in doily bags.

She does have too many toys, lots of vtech ones which she quote enjoys. Sophie giraffe is also a favourite. What are your little ones enjoying playing with at the mo?

Mumof3xx · 27/10/2013 19:03

Lots of rattly toys still, crinkly books, one or two noisy vtec things
Door bouncer is still high on her faves along with a packet of baby wipes

birdbrain21 · 27/10/2013 23:00

she'll play with anything that stays still long enough for her to grab it and wave it about Wink she loves having a pile of stacking cups (not built as a tower) and pulling them out from each other but what keeps her quiet for longest is playing with paper (!!!) I gave her an old magazine today and she happily sat in her rocker for ages scrunching the pages and ripping it up!
She still doesn't sit by herself withouht cushions or something to support her but when she's lying on her back keeps trying hard to sit up almost doing mini sit-ups!

kellestar · 29/10/2013 21:53

Whoops! This disappeared from my threads I am on. W is now 6 months and a real character. He has yet another stinking cold :( so is rather whingy and refuses the boob at times. He is sitting well and showing signs of being a bum shuffler.

His favourite thing (and B's) is paper and between the two of them destroyed an Argos catalogue.

Weaning has started a little wobbly on my part. He seems to be not interested at the moment, but I will persevere.

Hope you are all well, I mainly haunt FB.

Mama great to get Alex is making an attempt at crawling! Amazing boy!

Mumof3xx · 30/10/2013 06:21

Dd loves paper too

She is full of a cold cough and I think a sore throat. Anyone got any magic cures? She's normally a big eater with milk and solids but she's off them a bit now I think because she feels so rubbish

Sitting well, but think she will crawl not bum shuffle

AmberLav · 01/11/2013 10:03

Yah! E only woke for a feed once last night, and she managed to settle herself back to sleep after a wail at 3.30am without any help from us!

Also having difficulty weaning here, she's not quite ready yet, so I'm just picking easy things to tempt her with, so that it's not too stressful for me (that's the most important thing!).

No useful advice for colds, other than she'll get her appetite back in a few days...

Mumof3xx · 01/11/2013 10:16

Well dd had a couple of days of being really unhappy and having calpol, both those nights she slept right through which she hasn't really done since 5 months! Think it was the calpol though
She seems much better today thankfully

She is doing great with weaning but does not like brocoli lol

GimmeDaBoobehz · 09/11/2013 11:46

This thread has definitely died a little. I bet we are all on Facebook.

H got her first tooth on Wednesday and has several others nearly through. I do sympathise with her though, she seemed to be pretty uncomfortable with it.

H isn't actually sitting up without back support herself yet for more than 5 seconds, but is fine if something is balancing her. She'll lean straight forward. She's very dextrous and tries to crawl. She can roll great and you can't leave her for a second.

AmberLav · 09/11/2013 14:57

I thought E might be getting a tooth, but now I just think she has a cold - she just sneezed mid feed and covered me in breastmilk!

She's slowly getting her food sorted and is now actually swallowing!

FaithTheVampireSlayer · 09/11/2013 20:24

Hi all, have definitely dropped off here! I admit I've been on. FB more. Nice to 'see' everyone.

We are doing well - much better in fact. About a month ago I was really struggling with Faithlet's poor sleep and excess vomiting. However a change in reflux meds (to ranitidine), changing back from follow on milk to first milk and sleep training have turned things around. Less sick, better sleep and we are both able to put her down rather than me feeding to sleep every night.

Food wise we are doing a mixture. Faithlet loves finger foods - anything she can grab but toast, bread, cucumber, veg- carrot sticks, broccoli, green beans, baby corn. She'll take baby porridge and weetabix off a spoon but likes to hold the spoon herself. In the evening she has a mush/purée which DH gives her.

Toys wise she has a light up ball she loves, soft building bricks, Faces black and white book, a macara. Stuff to grab really.

Mama when you get chance I'd love to see more photos of Alex! :)

birdbrain21 · 09/11/2013 20:42

Yep this thread is definately dying a little Sad but I'm not on facebook!

H has been showing all the signs of teething for a few months (!) but still no teeth yet. She's starting to hold her balance for a few seconds when sitting but not really by herself yet properly...
She loves mashed food but although all her toys get chewed on she hasn't figured out how to chew finger food yet!
