Including our friends from late May & early July!

Thought time for a postnatal thread.

So. I'm craving a nightly glass of wine already, week
5 of motherhood. Anyone else?!

What are reflux symptoms MrsBri?
Anna won't stop crying here Hmm. Goes to sleep comfort sucking but screams immediately she's put down. Driving me crazy!

AlohaMama · 23/07/2013 20:57

Hope the weather settles down for everyone soon so your babies can be more comfortable. It is difficult to work out what is wrong with them otherwise.

Good news here, the swing I borrowed from a friend so far is working well. Only had to rock dd for a little while this morning then put her in the swing and let it do the rest, leaving me with hands free to get on with some housework. Hurrah.

MrsBri · 23/07/2013 21:12

Learner, Amy is clearly in discomfort after food and sometimes lying down. She also brings milk up after feeding, but because she swallows it we hadn't really realised what she was doing. However, she demonstrated it in the doctor's surgery while he was working it out, but brought it up.

When she brings it up she goes red.

If Anna doesn't like lying down it could be reflux. Have you tried tilting her bed so her head is higher than her feet? That's meant to help.

learnermummy · 23/07/2013 22:14

Thanks MrsBri. Bizarre thing is she usually sleeps fine lying down at night! Really not sure what's up tonight. Growth spurt perhaps?

MrsBri · 23/07/2013 23:18

Amy sleeps lying down, but hasn't been that comfy lately.

It's worth keeping an eye on though.

pinkbear82 · 24/07/2013 03:37

Violet has just done 9pm-3am.... I'm at a loss now, I've had my normal amount of sleep in one go and I now seem to be wide awake. Hoping extra sleep takes me soon. Tomorrow will either be a great day with extra bounce or one of those odd days after too much sleep

SunnyL · 24/07/2013 07:08

Pink that happened to us yesterday - 9pm to 3.30am. She made up for it though by waking every 2 hours last night which is especially hard as DH is on night shift so i had no-one to share the feeds with. Now she has declared she is bored of lying in the moses basket and wants to be entertained. Think it might be an afternoon on the sofa watching movies. Anyone got Netflix and can recommend a good movie??

MrsBri · 24/07/2013 07:20

God, we are nowhere near that level of sleep!

Sunny, Drive with Ryan Gosling is really good.

learnermummy · 24/07/2013 07:22

Did anyone else notice that baby Cambridge wasn't in his car seat properly? Looks like he was swaddled so the straps couldn't go over his arms properly!

pinkbear82 · 24/07/2013 07:56

I think it might be a fluke sunny, we were out a lot yesterday and she didn't nap as much.....although would be lovely.

DP came home with two guinea pigs yesterday.... I'd mentioned in passing that I loved having them when I was little and that violet might too.... I'd kinda meant when she was old enough to know! But you know, I'm sure he'll help cleaning them out etc........

Going to get the sling in action today and crack on with some more in depth housework rather than the quick bits I've been doing!! Now where did I file the instructions....

learnermummy · 24/07/2013 08:20

Well Anna slept 10:30 to 4 and then til 8, has just had a good feed and is not screaming Smile. Hope it continues! Might pick up some gripe water for later just in case!

Sarah2506 · 24/07/2013 08:56

learner I did notice that he didn't appear to have isofix as he didn't stand there shouting 'why won't it turn green!' Repeatedly.

Hawkmoth · 24/07/2013 09:07

Bobbie slept 0130 - 0400 then to 0800 after a quick feed. She was weighed yesterday and had put on five ounces. Health visitor was very laid back, said we could stop topping up if we wanted (tbh we keep forgetting as baby falls asleep) and we don't have to get her up for feeds in the night. She seems to be managing it herself and I'm glad we don't have the effort of a 3am alarm.

We went round a few shops yesterday which restarted bright red loss and made me look "more knackered than usual"... Thanks DH! We did find some bargains though and I'm home alone with baby today and seriously considering not leaving the bed.

learnermummy · 24/07/2013 10:46

Sarah I think he must have had isofix - you couldn't strap a seat in in 7 seconds! Laughing at all news reports saying what an expert he was at doing it as (with ours anyway) you just click it in! Hats off to Kate though, wouldn't have fancied that much the day after giving birth!

curlyclaz13 · 24/07/2013 12:00

someone swapped my baby ! Oscar slept from 9-12 then until 3 from 4-7 and has been awake for about an hour since 8. I am sure I will pay for it later though.

MrsBri · 24/07/2013 12:17

Stop saying how well your babies are sleeping. :-( Amy didn't get that memo!

Hawkmoth · 24/07/2013 12:22

If it helps, I literally can not put Bobbie down between about six in the evening and one in the morning. She dozes on me but can't be put in seat or cot without screaming. For the majority of that time she is on the breast as well so I'm not even able to get up and potter... Or see to my other kids who have turned into monsters this week.

MrsBri · 24/07/2013 12:46

OK, you win that one, Hawk!! I don't have it that bad!

Hawkmoth · 24/07/2013 12:48

I know it will pass... Eventually.

AmIGoingMad · 24/07/2013 12:59

How on earth ate babies sleeping that long?! Please pass the magic dust this way!

SunnyL · 24/07/2013 13:04

Ach my baby may sleep at night but during the day time she is a complete pest and wont leave me alone. Swings and round abouts.

Just had the HV round this morning. My baby is a piglet and is now 10lbs10! She's also 61cm now so 75th percentile for weight and 100th percentile for height. Think we've got a future amazon on our hands - DH will be even more grey worrying about his daughter attracting all the boys!

Littlemissexpecting · 24/07/2013 13:42

Sunny they don't measure length here anymore which is annoying.
Actually HV doesn't routinely visit anymore, up to us to go to drop in clinic as and when we want. Thought I might get ds weighed every 2 weeks. How often does everyone else get lo weighed?

Hawkmoth · 24/07/2013 14:13

I think I'm going to stick to weekly weighing until the six week check, then do longer intervals.

I have no idea how long the baby is, or head circumference. How strange.

curlyclaz13 · 24/07/2013 15:12

we had our last hv visit last week so next weigh in and measurements are at 6 week check next week when he is seven weeks Hmm after that I have to take him to the children's centre to be checked.
having taken him out in the pram I noticed there is not much growing space left, less than 10 cm at a gues, can't see him lastin another 4 1/2 months in that ! think the seat lies flat if needed though.

pinkapples · 25/07/2013 06:06

Woohoo rain!
