Drinks and previously banned foods supplied in bulk, Car seats installed, slings and prams at the ready, as we head into parenthood, and all the excitement, and sleepless nights our little ones will bring along the way.

Oh bring I have no idea what to suggest. Has she been doing it every feed?

bringonthetrumpets · 01/08/2013 20:02

It's happened twice in the last two days. She makes this sound like a cat bringing up a hairball and yeah, you get the idea. I have no idea if she just over-eats and that's what sparks it, or if it's something I eat that causes a stomach upset....I should start keeping a diary of foods and what she's like.

Glad you are finally getting some answers frus! Agnu, agreed with frus, use whatever you can for comfort as pain can cause a diminish in milk supply as well.

FrussoHathor · 01/08/2013 22:07

Yeah bring it might be something youve eaten. Is she doing it t the same time/feed each day? Or after you've fed in a certain position?

peardrop2 · 01/08/2013 22:15

So the last boob like bottle arrived today. It's smaller then I imagined. Have to say though the teat is shaped like a nipple and is small like a nipple so I have more hope for this one. I'm not ready to test it out yet though. Also, I brought stage 2 so it's only really for 3-6 months. I should probably wait a couple of weeks.

bringonthetrumpets · 01/08/2013 22:38

No, different feed times (one was about 9 pm two nights ago and today it was about 10 am) and I'm always feeding her in cradle position with minimal jiggling around. Urgh who knows. Hopefully it doesn't happen again b/c it's freaking disgusting and disturbing to see a tiny human hurl up that much liquid.

In other news, I'm seeing a doc for the headaches on Monday. They are still coming nearly every afternoon and are starting to feel like migraines (throbbing, pain with light and sound, dizzy and lightheaded). I've tried cutting out foods that I think could be the culprit, drinking water like a maniac, making sure to eat snacks so my blood sugars don't dip too much, taking naps, not wearing contacts too long, minimizing tv and computer time.... and they are still coming regularly. I'm starting to dread the afternoons and the poor boys are just having to deal with a grumpy mum. So not fun.

AGnu · 01/08/2013 22:45

bring it sounds like you're really not having an easy time! Do you think your headaches/her vomiting could be related? No idea what could cause both though! Confused If you have glasses/contacts, have you had your prescription checked recently?

FrussoHathor · 02/08/2013 00:30

Are you taking pain relief for your headaches?

bringonthetrumpets · 02/08/2013 03:16

I wouldn't be surprised if they were related in some way... figuring it all out is the hard part.

Agnu, I did have my eyes checked during the pregnancy, but I know that things can change with the hormones, so it's another thing I could get looked at.

No, frus I'm not taking anything. Not trying to be a martyr, but I really hate taking medication and I know they are happening because something isn't right with my body, which makes me even more reluctant to take something and just mask the true problem.

Thanks. I feel like a broken record to Dh Sad.

FrussoHathor · 02/08/2013 07:34

bring if you were taking something I was going to suggest looking at when/how much you were taking Disclaimer- obviously I wouldn't suggest that for prescribed meds as some drugs taken for headaches can actually make them worse (paracetamol has headaches and migraines listed in the side effects).
Every afternoon sounds frustratingly regular. But does narrow down when to look for a trigger.

kittykatsforever · 02/08/2013 07:52

Bring have you changed anything? Stoping caffeine or started it?
Could it be a hormone imbalance after birth? I've been taking sanatagen new mum tablets
I don't think I would be worried if she's only been sick twice, sometimes if dd has abit of wind she's sick quite abit and I never wind her roughly whereas dd1 never even brought up a dribble but if it carries on the quantity suggests something although I'd expect it every feed if it was illness

kittykatsforever · 02/08/2013 07:53

She may also have just over endured as you say you have a really good supply?

Librarina · 02/08/2013 09:20

Oooh projectile vomit doesn't sound good, nor does regular headaches, my sympathies and love in your direction,

Frus, I lost he baby in the night too, she just wriggled round in 189 degrees and confused me!

Well we had our appointment at the cranial osteopath. He was so lovely and good with the baby. She does have some tension in her head and her jaw which would indicate why she doesn't lie on her left side ever, and therefore why the trouble is all in my right boob.

She was pretty whiny after treatment, but slept beautifully in bed with me all night... 9-1, 2-4, 4.30-6, 6.30-8.30. I only fed from the good boob in the night and expressed off the other side to protect my sore nipple so I've loads if milk in the freezer. I get about 3oz off each time so there are a couple of nice bags in the freezer ready. Just need her to be willing to take it.

I've also realised that her latch is not good on the Right Hand Side, leaves my nipple lipstick shaped so going to work on that today. And phone Lact Consultant again, try and get this sorted fore next week.

kittykatsforever · 02/08/2013 10:15

Will you be having so e treatment for her then lib? Or more then what he's done?
Glad she was good for you last night, do you have a co bed thing or does she just go in with you? Do you not worry about squashing her? Lol
Dd has become more unsettled early evening, nothing I can really moan about, it's just she's going down like an angel at about 7 then within 30 mins wakes up and seems to have tummy problems and has abit of wind stuck. I know because the last time I went up last night at 8 she was wiggeling did a trump before I picked her up and went straight to sleep but it was the same the night before aswell, Is there any foods I should try to avoid to cut back gas?
On the positive she slept both nights til 5! That's a 9hr stint, were almost there! Grin

Lorelei353 · 02/08/2013 10:28

Well, yesterday was a tough day. DS would not sleep. He'd go down sound asleep and wake about 15 mins later. The longest nap all day was 30 mins. By last night he was totally exhausted and still wold not settle. D slept on couch with him on his chest for a few hours and we eventually transferred him to rib. He also fed a lot. Not sure if it was the heat or a growth spurt?

peardrop2 · 02/08/2013 11:00

Lor that sounds like us the other day!
We struggle with day naps. It's unusual for me to be able to put him down if at all and he hardly ever goes longer then 30 minutes.

Baby pear had a good and unusual night last night. Went down at 8 and woke up at 4am then had another 3hrs from 4:30 to 7:30. I actually feel more human today!

Kitty ~ I'm avoiding caffeine, citrus fruits, chocolate and fizzy drinks. Oh and tomatoes!

FrussoHathor · 02/08/2013 11:13

Sounds like a example of a help my child has feet instead of a head moment there lib Grin

Do you think the cranial osteopathy helped? Will you be going back for more sessions?
It does sound like you have a nice stock of milk now.

FrussoHathor · 02/08/2013 11:16

Ah yeah kitty any food that gives you gas will give them gas too.

Lorelei353 · 02/08/2013 12:06

Sounds like a great night pear. We're going to bring DS for some cranial osteopathy too. Not for anything specific but just as a little treat for him. There's a great osteopath that DH and I have both been to who works downstairs from DH.

FrussoHathor · 02/08/2013 14:18

Eep. Fx I'm right and we can get this sorted.

bringonthetrumpets · 02/08/2013 15:25

Sorry to hear about your tough day Lor That does sound like a classic growth spurt. He'll probably sleep, sleep, sleep for a day or two and then be back to normal.

So, so glad you were able to get in to see someone Lib! Hopefully the latch on that side will get better and no more blebs for you!

Awesome news on the sleep pear!!

Nope, haven't started or stopped caffeine, cut out eggs as I thought they could be it (but haven't eaten them again to confirm b/c I really don't want to have a headache again), really cut back on dairy, cut out chocolate (now I'm thinking of cutting out sugar all together-which really isn't a bad thing, is it?).... so yeah, kind of leaves hormones.... or a tumor. Since I never, ever, got them before or during this pregnancy, it's gotta be hormones. But hooray for no dramatic puking last night. I do have a crazy supply so I think she gulps it for comfort sometimes and over does it. M has been sleeping 7hrs a night for the past week, I haven't said anything b/c I don't want to jinx it!

FrussoHathor · 02/08/2013 15:44

I was right. He did have a posterior (sub mucosal) tongue tie. Has has a snip that immediately showed improved tongue movement.
Now to work at getting a decent latch and making it worth the discomfort for him.

bringonthetrumpets · 02/08/2013 15:59

Good work frus!!! Things will improve v quickly for you both!

bringonthetrumpets · 02/08/2013 16:00

Then agnu's little one also def has it!

AGnu · 02/08/2013 16:32

Yay! So pleased you've had it confirmed & dealt with Frus! Did they show you the stretching exercises to stop it reattaching? How is feeding going now? What was the appointment like? How did he cope? Is there much swelling? Does he seem upset by it now? Did you have to watch? I really don't like the idea of being in the room when they do it! Blush

We've got to wait until next Friday morning for our appointment. A whole week! That's more than an eighth of his lifetime away! At least we know it's happening at some point!
