Not me - I took my pram and a load of baby stuff to a local charity shop the other day (did get a bit sad when I handed over the pram though - the woman in the shop didn't help when she said "think of all those walks you did with that!"). Has anyone started potty training? I'm on Cod's bootcamp thread this weekend, we started today.
Just my blinkin luck - spots appeared!! And blisters.
Oh heck! So I have a very miserable whingy toddler. However, I have a fridge full of fun size maltesers and I am going to keep going at the moment.

I took the dog to the vet this evening, she had been stung. I came home, the house was in uproar. Ds was roaring in his bouncer, dd was crying and dh was obviously frustrated. It appears dd has pooed in her pants while colouring in at the table!! Ewwwwwwwwwwww.

Anyway, they are in bed now (Phewww) and I have a glass of wine.

Uhmmmmmm.

We have started introducing the potty/toilet a little - I tend to ask dd if she wants to sit on it when I change her in the evening or before/after a bath. She seems to prefer the squishy toilet seat thing we have to the potty - not sure why.

Is the dog ok?

am not starting potty training while in rented house which has new carpets throughout. perhaps when we move... dd3 is not very interested though.

but she has moved from cot to bed this week, she's very pleased with that.

We're hoping to give PT a go next weekend when we get back from our hols. DD2 is very aware of what she's doing but is so stubborn! She refuses to do anything she doesn't fancy. She regularly goes to bed in her coat as she likes the cosiness!

Good news, we have an ENT appointment on June 6th. I saw one of the docs at our practice last week and he said there was nothing at all wrong with her ears. Wasn't happy with that as DD2 has been a screeching again so took her back to see the nurse practitioner who confirmed long term cattarh and an infection in both ears! Will have to see what ENT say.

mrs D, please enlighten me. have just peeked at the potty training thread - what's a care mat? i have potty trained twice but not come across this. is it a disposable mat?

I assumed a care mat was a changing mat, it probably isn't. So in fact, I put dd on top of a changing mat and padding over the top.

The dog's fine. Cost £32 to have a five minute consultation and a steroid injection though!

YG - sorry, but I am reassured to hear that your dd2 is going to bed in her coat! DD is being pretty stubborn at the moment. She refused to keep the raincover down on her pushchair yesterday even though it was absolutely pouring.

I'm so excited dd had her first day with no nappies and no accidents at home today. MrsD we are also using bribery, winegums for wees and maltesers (just one) for poos. last month dd didn't even really know when she went wees and hid for poos and the last couple of days we have done half days no accidents she is just so happy and keeps going mummy so proud.
I went to a nappy, hospital supplies store and bought adult hospital incontinence mats as they should wrap around the bed a bit so won't move as much as a change mat. Haven't used it yet, dd didn't go down today - well didn't try.
Know what you mean Fennel about carpets throughout we didn't want to start when with the inlaws and luckily she wasn't ready then.
YG have you tried homeopathy for dd2's ears they can get some awesome results if you don't have any good results from EMT.
MrsD I too am a little clucky and haven't resumed anything either, am on estrogen replacement at the moment to try to help all the scar tissue hoping that helps bring some action back can't belive still recovering.

ds is a joy now, a little piglet with his food, cracks himself up and just loves having stories read to him. Giggles away.
Well enough of my ranting...MrsD when is your next trip down under?

Blimey - we're not even thinking of potty training yet, and ds2 is still firmly in his cot - at least until after our holidays in September!!! I want him in a travel cot for when we're away - much easier to contain..! Maybe start potty training in September aswell (says she, parking it in the future so she doesn't have to think about it just yet...). Good news is he's starting at playgroup for 2 mornings a week from Sept, so dp gets 2 x 1/2 days to herself!! I'm amazed at how un-broody I feel - friends of ours have just had a baby boy and although it's lovely holding him and he's a real sweetie, I don't have a single inch of yearning in me to have another - hurrah!

That's how I feel Dot. I held a little baby the other day and it was lovely - it reminded me of when mine were small (but didn't make me want to have another) :)

Chuffed - How are you feeling? I don't know about you but I have been very surprised at how hard I have found it this time. The fact dd was so easy simply hadn't prepared me for this one. He's 15 weeks now and I must have spent most of last night feeding him. I am soo soo tired in the morning and unlike dd, ds will NOT let me lie in.
However, I the AD's have definitely helped so my exhaustion is not resulting in black moods. I do hope you are feeling better.

This potty training is hard work though.

Still want another one though!
Maybe because they are both soooooo beautiful and I just love babies.

Hi everyone Lovely new thread and I'm determined to post more now that the morning sickness has finally gone (at 24 weeks - gah!!). I'm in a bit of a quandary about potty training. Ds was a late crawler and walker so I think he might b elate with this so we're not sure whether to wait until the new baby comes in the autumn. What do you think? We're hoping to move him from his cot into a bed in the next month as we want to start getting the new baby's room organised. I thought I would be less paranoid this time round about having a healthy baby at the end of this pregnancy but since ds I now know several people who have lost babies through miscarriage and one at full term which has made me more anxious than ever. For some reason I just don't seem to be ale to believe that I could be lucky enough to have 2 healthy children (or even 2 children) in a few months time. Do i sound mad?!!

LJ not at all. We are going into winter and are getting some babylegs to help us (basically leg warmers for dd). Isn't there lots of stories about children that regress if just potty trained when baby comes they go back to being babyish so Autumn might be a good idea when things settle down a bit for you.
Agree with you MrsD about how hard I have found it with 2, ds is ok now although I did wean early as he was too hungry, 3wks of feeding hrly day and night just did me in. The couselling is helping my PTSD heaps and I feel more in control of things rather than helpless. ds still not sleeping through boy was I spoilt first time but we are being mean parents and when he wakes he gets put in his battery powered swing and it is turned on and we go back to bed. He doesn't need fed it is just a habit I think as he goes straight back to sleep in his swing. hopefully he will just stop waking soon.
As for potty training dd asleep on the mat as week speak had one miss today although she had a nappy on all morning at playcentre and didn't tell me once that she needed to go.
Glad you are all settled now HD and Dot although how is dp Dot still a little clucky?

My toilet training insert thingy arrived this morning - so I am going to see if we can get anywhere with ds. He tries to sit on the poty (playing) but it is so small and digging in looking on his botty - it doesn't look comfy at all. So I'm hoping for better luck on the toilet.
Have no chance at night though as he regularly soaks through size 6 nappies! he drinks so much milk. Tho it doesn't help - that he likes to get his hand inside his nappy to hold his willie for comfort to sleep!

That's just it Chuffed. Every hour again last night, but I'd just pull him into bed and as soon as he'd latched on he'd go back to sleep.
Don't understand why he's waking though. Shouldn't he be tired?
When did you wean Chuffed? I'm sorely tempted.

MrsD, where did you give birth? I remember you saying something about midwife-led something or other, and my only options are RBH or Basingstoke.. it's just occured to me I may have to pout if you are in catchment for something better!

MrsD we started solids at 3.5mths . We started with a week of slippery elm bark which you can get at a health food shop as babies stomachs are seive like it seals the stomach supposedly decreasing the risk of food getting into the bloodstream which is what they think causes allergies.
He still wakes it hasn't solved everything but it meant I know he is getting enough food during the day 3 meals, about 9 bf and one formula bottle at 11pm.
Totally get what you mean it is just a killer for the rest of the day.

Morning everyone. How do the babylegs help with potty training just out of interest? Is it because they keep the leg dry?

Was wondering that myself LJ!
Presume it is to keep their legs warm while having no trousers on and can get on the potty quickly without trying to get trousers off first?

both my others were trained in july. hot weather, outdoors lots, very few clothes. might try that with dd3 if she seems ready by then, which seems a bit unlikely so far.

That's how I'm thinking Fennel. Going on a seaside holiday in Aug - that might be a good time (except we're borrowing the flat we're staying in from a relative - don't know if there are carpets!)

LJ - don't know what to suggest re potty-training your ds. Might be better waiting 'cause of regression when new baby comes, like Chuffed says. There's no rush - they're all still only 2!

so glad you said that HD - my mum said she potty trained all of us when we were 2 whether we were ready or not so I kind of feel under pressure. But I was going to wait longer. I think I'll wait until after the baby is born and see how things go.

Lunavix, I can't understand why you can't go anywhere you want.
Couldn't you go to Wallingford or Wantage? Both are midwife led units.
Not sure for how much longer though, there are going to be HUGE cutbacks and there is talk of closing them.
