So - dolbear, you said you were starting to get broody? Not me - I took my pram and a load of baby stuff to a local charity shop the other day (did get a bit sad when I handed over the pram though - the woman in the shop didn't help when she said "think of all those walks you did with that!"). Hope you are all doing ok.

crikey havent posted for ages.

ds loves his sister, whos now 4 months old. She's a great baby, was sleeping well until last week when she caught a cold.

I'm still bfing which seems monumental for me as it never worked out with ds.

how was everyones christmas?

im meant to be starting my tatty bumpkin after the new year...

hewlettsdaughter · 29/12/2006 21:45

Well done with the bf lunavix. It's nice to hear about all the babies.

Christmas for us was good - though I am now feeling like I have seen lots of family and not enough of friends

I haven't even been keeping up with mn much recently - though I do enjoy the highlights written by morningpaper (it is mp, isn't it?)

what's a tatty bumpkin?

Glad the bf is going well. Good sleeping too!
Xmas was good for us, we celebrated ds's b'day in the afternoon and had Xmas lunch at 11.30am. It worked out great. He got the hang of opening pressies by the end of the day and got all excited about finding out what was in the paper which was cool. It is really nice seeing them playing with each other's toys.
Can't believe the year has gone so fast. We'll have a thread titled now they are 3 in no time. dd is already planning her b'day cake and telling everbody she will be 3 at her next birthday.

Happy New Year everyuone
Potty training has gone really well so far although we still have to ask ds to go to the toilet rather than him telling us.
Ds is very funny at the moment - when he gets cross with me nd dh he tells us to sit on the naughty step
He got loads of duplo for Xmas which is keeping him busy these days
YorkieGirl - hope you and your dds are doing okay

fennel · 04/01/2007 18:13

hi everyone.

dd3 is over her tantrumming night wandering phase and back to being easygoing, she had her wonky toes operated on 2 days ago, under general anaesthetic (I used to post about this, ages ago, crossed over toes). which was a bit scary but she's fine and bouncing around since then.

she's useless at potty training though, likes wearing knickers but is utterly incompetent.

LucyJones · 04/01/2007 19:04

Hi Fennel - it's interesting that at home ds has to be nagged to go to the loo but at nursery today he had no accidents and was asking them to take him to the loo Must be a peer group thing

hi Yorkiegirl!

dd3 is already at preschool attached to the school, they take them from 2.5 here, but they have to accept them in nappies. On her first day I forgot the nappies as mixing nappies and preschool seems all wrong.

hewlettsdaughter · 07/01/2007 20:14

Happy new year from me!

Glad to hear dd's op went ok Fennel. Hope Christmas wasn't too hard for you Yorkiegirl.

DD is finally in a grown-up bed tonight - no bed guard though so am resigned to picking her up off the floor for at least a few nights..

Good to hear from you all. Isn't it such a busy time, all getting back to normal here now.
ds is starting to tantrum maybe he can get it over and done with early, has full on little paddies but is easier to distract than dd was later on.
dd never and I mean never stops talking, she will just talk to herself, talk and talk sometimes I just wish for a quiet moment. She keeps telling everybody she is three as most of her friends are 3 and finds it hard to comprehend she is 2 except she knows she hasn't had a 3 birthday cake. Stuff towers my little girl makes birthday cakes out of our wooden blocks.
Has anybody heard from dot lately, she hasn't been on here for ages.

Glad the op went well Fennel, did dd3 actually have totally crossed toes, both mine have one toe that is higher than the others if this makes sense so the toes don't sit all flat on the floor, will probably have to have that looked at sometime.

YG - good to hear from you, hope xmas wasn't too bad. Glad that the grommets are helping get rid of the gunge.

Take care all!

fennel · 08/01/2007 09:45

hi Chuffed

My dd2 never shut up at that age, endless chat, it gets quite wearing doesn't it? now she's 5 and still very chatty and interactive but the endless constant talking has lessened. Thank goodness. All very well having articulate children but it does your head in doesn't it?

yes her toes were totally crossed over, causing a bit of blistering and nail disformation once she was walking and wearing shoes.

Dot is around, she's posting on other threads quite a bit.

lunavix · 14/01/2007 20:41

hd - tatty bumpkin is a toddlers yoga/movement/story class I'm going to be running locally.
They also have a line of organic and fair trade kids clothes and toys.

fennel - ds has crossing toes too. Guess it's more on the to-do list!

ds is still going brill with potty (since july/aug) but cant even face thinking of night traning yet. He's loving school (3 mornings a week) we binned the bed time dummy in august, and he's been in a big bed since april... too grown up.

dd is just a delight, even though shes stroppy and very emotional (like me!)

tracyk · 15/01/2007 16:12

Hi girls - haven't been on this thread for ages.
ds loving his nursery - 5 mornings a week and is talking constantly too.
toilet training has not started in earnest - tbh I can't face it! Its so easy to just change nappies when you are out and about and not have to worry about being near a toilet etc etc. and the size and mushieness of his poos - it doesn't bear thinking about it if he has an accident. He still drinks so much milk that it puts me off giving up nappies. But dh is giving me pressure to do it - easy for him huh!!
anyone else not toilet trained by 3?? I have until March!

Chuffed · 17/01/2007 09:24

tracyk his poos shouldn't really be 'mushy'. Could you start giving him some acidophilus with his breakfast or something to get that 'good bacteria' working properly.
Either that or maybe he has a bit of a food intolerance you aren't aware of.

tracyk · 17/01/2007 09:33

Its really only his first poo of the day that is mushy and he will have had almost 12 oz of milk before bed and during the night - so I was thinking it was pure milk he was poo-ing?? During the day they can be 'normal' - although maybe if they are all squashed in his nappy - they go mushy?
Any whoo - he's off to nursery with pants on and a bagful of trousers, vests and pants! There are 2 other kids in his class getting toileted - I'm hoping he will copy!

Chuffed · 26/01/2007 07:05

Hope all is well. We are having serious bed time dramas at the mo dd just doesn't seem to want to go to bed at night.

I've updated my profile thing so if you click on my name details and some photos come up.

tracyk · 26/01/2007 13:50

I presume dd has dropped her nap chuffed? ds will be in his bed asleep for 7pm if no nap - but if he has a nap then he will fuss around till after 9pm!

Chuffed · 02/02/2007 09:12

Yep after 9pm tonight, no nap.

She just doesn't seem to need too much sleep.

tracyk · 09/02/2007 12:29

Hope its going better Chuffed. I tend to get ds into his PJs before 7pm - then I can get him into bed really quickly if he gets grumpy and tired. I'm resigned to letting him stay up later if he naps - rather than stressing and forcing him to stay in bed as I used to do.
He's doing really well toilet training - doing wees in toilet or potty no probs, hit or miss with poo's. and still no chance of staying dry overnight - his nappy is like a balloon in the mornings!

LucyJones · 09/02/2007 14:44

Hi everyone
Chuffed - those are gorgeous piccies. we seem to have the same interests re. TV watching - I love Gray's Anatomy and The OC too
TracyK - well done on the potty training. Ds has taken to it really well too, his night time nappy is pretty dry but we're not tackling nights for a long while yet I don't think.

LucyJones · 19/02/2007 22:04

I killed the thread

hewlettsdaughter · 24/02/2007 20:30

LJ! Great pics Chuffed. lunavix - I found the tatty bumpkin site - nice stuff!

tracyk - I haven't tried dd without a nappy at night yet, am not in any rush.

lovely pictures Chuffed.

Does dd3 win "last on thread to potty train" prize? She's just about beginning to get the idea. I won't be posting any "Could she be G&T?" threads just yet.

Chuffed · 19/03/2007 09:47

Just had dd's feet measured for some winter shoes and they are a 10.5
She is tall but her feet are long and skinny so boots seem to just look like gumboots (wellies) on her, not sure where we are going to find any that fit her properly.
She is very excited about her birthday party this weekend.
We had a girls trip to Melbourne the week before last and had a good time. She got to pat, and cuddle a small blue kangaroo (the koalas were all sleeping) and that just made her trip.
Today she had 'pretend' trip to Melbourne.
How is everybody doing?

hewlettsdaughter · 19/03/2007 15:47

a blue kangaroo? was it actually blue or does that kind only exist in the books by emma chichester clark?

how tall is dd now Chuffed? I need to get my dd's feet measured soon, I think she will be about a 9.
